New Hot Series in Miami Beach Puts Musicians Back to Work 8/16,23/09

Vintage-Soul-August-2009-small
Hot New Vintage Soul Series Opens At The Van Dyke Cafe August 16 and At The News Lounge August 23rd Puts Artists Back to Work

The upstairs lounge in The Van Dyke Café is very unassuming. In fact, if it wasn’t for the video stream downstairs, you might not even know about the mystical experiences happening right above the common area. But for those “in the know”, it’s the ultimate in true raw traditional musical talent where artists unleash and audiences get a glimpse of an exclusive rare treat of talent available for the taking.

Upstairs at The Van Dyke Café on South Beach, a new series called “Vintage Soul”, co-produced by harmonica player, Randy Singer, keeps the music scene rocking and rolling with an exceptional grouping of local artists banning together to create and play music to a captive and appreciative audience. The interactive series features live music ranging from R&B and neo soul to jazz, blues, reggae, funk and gospel, spanning four generations of music including classics from Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Bob Marley, Chaka Khan, Sade, Alicia Keys, among many others. Due to the initial success and unprecedented response of the special performance held earlier this month, The Van Dyke Café located at 846 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, rated the “Best Jazz Club” by Miami New Times, will host the series on a regular basis once a month until December, beginning Sunday, August 16, 9pm-1am. Sister café The News Lounge located on 5580 NE 4th Court in The Courtyard at 55th Street Station in Miami will also host the series starting August 23. As a new age outdoor garden lounge this setting acts as the perfect backdrop to the new series.

Co-producer of Vintage Soul, Natasha Haynes of PhoenixStar Entertainment comments on the purpose of the series and the state of the music industry today. She says, “The Vintage Soul series was created not only to pay tribute to classic soul music of yesterday and today, but to also give undiscovered artists and talented vocalists a moment in the spotlight. Major record labels have cut back on promoting new artists and traditional ways of promotion are simply not available anymore. Those with true talent have to self-promote and use whatever tools they have available to reach the audience that values their quality. So whether they are singing a classic soul cover song or one of their original songs, Vintage Soul, gives artists a platform of exposure so that they can market themselves and showcase their talent.”

Haynes enjoys working with singer, songwriter, and musician Randy Singer who, she says, helps find work for musicians. “Randy makes sure artists are seen and appreciated. He provides bookings, enthusiasm, and the tools they need to continue their work in an atmosphere that induces creativity and cohesiveness.” Singer is based in Miami and books talent all over the tri county area in addition to booking all the nightly entertainment at The Van Dyke Café and The News Lounge through his company Randy Singer Music. He himself has played all over the world with such greats as Franco da Vita, Toots Thielemans, Caetano Veloso, Juan Luis Guerra, Timbaland and Julio Iglesias in such places as Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Paris, Czech Republic, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Germany, Amsterdam, Mexico, New York, and Nashville.

With music by The Derek Mac Band backing some of South Florida’s local artists, this series is already a hit and the best kept secret. With limited space and no cover, it’s best to get there early. For more information or if you’re interested in playing for the series, email phoenixstarmusic@aol.com with your photos, web-links, mp3 files and whatever else you think earns you some stage time or visit http://www.thevandykecafe.com/vintagesoul.

Manny Prieres – Solo Exhibition: What We Do Is Secret At Spinello Gallery 8/29/09

WHATWEDO_PRIMAGE2_72dpi_CC
MANNY PRIERES, “MENDED” (DETAIL), 52.5″ x 36.75″, GRAPHITE AND WATERCOLOR ON PAPER, 2009

SPINELLO GALLERY / DESIGN DISTRICT: 155 NE 38 ST, No. 101, Miami, FL – 33137
SOLO EXHIBITION: Manny Prieres / “What We Do Is Secret.”
OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, August 29th, 7-10pm

Spinello Gallery (155 NE 38 St., No. 101, Miami Florida – 33137) is proud to present the much-anticipated solo exhibition by one of Miami’s original stars, Manny Prieres, “What We Do Is Secret.” The Cuban-American artist will feature a suite of haunting graphite and watercolor works on paper and sculpture . This will be Prieres’ debut exhibition with the gallery.

Prieres explains, “Every collision leaves a trace behind: debris, a trail of residue that marks the site where violence took place.” The work of Manny Prieres is that sort of remnant, the product of the clash between a traditional, temperamental heritage, and an intense, idiosyncratic counterculture. During the process of this convergence, a series of artifacts are created. They stand at the threshold of a new folklore: they are the iconography of a new tradition.

In this sense, Manny Prieres is an archaeologist, one that has painstakingly and lovingly preserved the objects of an unexplored civilization: their symbols, their gods, their rituals, and their lore. These artifacts bring up tales from the artist’s personal history, yet as a whole they create new narratives that, despite having hybrid elements from multiple sources of influence, are nevertheless moving towards an entirely different place.

Manny Prieres has been an active member of the Miami art scene for over ten years. From 1997-2004, Prieres ran one of Miami’s first influental alternative art spaces, BOX, alongside Jose Reyes and Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova. BOX played a crucial role in the development of the Miami art community.

Exhibition through September 26th, 2009.

Photographs & Review – Bancroft Supperclub

Well, the other night we checked out the new Bancroft and wow!

I shot out a Twitter and said the waitstaff was embarrassingly good. You know, that kind where they are just so over-the-top it makes you feel kind of funny. They even had a silverware guy! Our waiter was awesome, funny, informative and appropriately attentive. And, I am told, quite cute. It’s the kind of service everyone complains about not getting in South Beach. The drinks were kept replenished, the table was kept clean, and anytime we needed anything, someone was there to take care of it.

I had the squid ink noodle pasta with shrimp, squid and scallops. One of my companions had the red snapper and the other had Italian sea bass. All of them were excellent, but I would say the snapper won. I’m not sure how to describe the food, inventive world fusion, I guess. The flavors were interesting and very well put together.

The prices for the entrees range from $23 to $49 and they had a decent variety, fish, chicken, duck, and steak, as well as a couple vegetarian choices. The portions are reasonable, too. Often, you go to these higher class restaurants and the food is really fru-fru and minimal. Not so here. I could not even finish my entrée.

They bill it as a supperclub, so be aware that it starts to get loud around 10pm. But, the atmosphere is nice, a little snooty, but not too much so. If you are looking for a nice restaurant that offers reasonable value for the prices and excellent service, definitely check out Bancroft.

Broadway Actors camp performances at Art and Culture Center of Hollywood 7/24-25/09

Come check out two musical theater shows being performed this weeked by members of our Broadway Actors and Broadway Actors Advanced summer camps:
Cinderella-and-Rockerfella
Cinderella and Rockerfella
Broadway Actors
Friday, July 24, 2009, 5 pm
Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center, US-1 and Monroe Street
A modern, panto-style reworking of the classic tale, including all the traditional characters: downtrodden Cinderella, Rockerfella (formerly known as Prince Charming!), Buttons, the Ugly Sisters, and the Fairy Godmother, with a selection of additional characters, from music managers and paparazzi, to good and bad fairies – all placed in a world of fame and celebrity.
With fresh and relevant things to say about fame, fortune and how true love will win in the end, it has a wonderfully comical script, fabulous songs and plenty of opportunity for audience participation.

Thoroughly-Modern-Millie
Thoroughly Modern Millie
Broadway Actors Advanced
Saturday, July 25, 2009, 2 pm
Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center, US-1 and Monroe Street
Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It’s a New York full of intrigue and jazz – a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.
Based on the popular movie, the stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers. Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a perfectly constructed evening of madcap merriment.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12-years-old. Tickets can be purchased at the box office 1 hour prior to the show. Performances take place at Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center, US-1 and Monroe Street (1770 Monroe Street). Cick here for more information.

Limited slots are still open in the remaining sessions of Summer Camp, including Broadway Actors, Young Artists Advanced, and Young Artists/Young Actors. Click here for more information.

The Terrace Afterhours Presents Misstress Barbara 7/25/09

TechnoLoft-May23
Continuing their dedication to cutting-edge sounds, the Techno Loft crew at Space Miami brings another femme fatale of the techno and house scene to the decks this Saturday, July 25th, the legendary Misstress Barbara.
Sicilian-born Misstress (yes, there’s four “s” in there…) Barbara, having emigrated to Montréal at an early age, appropriately started her music career as a drummer at the age of 12. Soon after, trading in her sticks for a pair of 1200s and a mixer, she carried her affinity for percussive sounds over into her DJing, delivering a rhythmic, relentless, and uncompromising style in her sets and in her productions. With hits like “I’m Running”, and “Dance Me To…” tearing up the global dance charts and finding their way into the laptops and CD cases of fellow DJs and producers around the world, Barbara, long an underground favorite, is breaking through into the mainstream of dance culture.
With her appearance this weekend at the home of dance music in the United States, Space, the sky’s the limit for the Misstress…

ECOMB presents Raise the Bar fundraiser at Waxy O’Connor’s with Ritchie & Rivenbark, The Rockadictos, The Dizzy Bird 7/27/09

flyer
The Environmental Coalition of Miami and the Beaches (ECOMB) started an amazing project called “Raise the Bar.” ECOMB is trying to get all the bars in Miami Beach to recycle. A student from UM got a grant from Hands on Miami, and started with four pilot bars already.

ECOMB is fundraising at every one of those bars, and this month is Waxy O’Connor’s. The event is on July 27th, from 8pm to 2am. Ritchie & Rivenbark, The Rockadictos and The Dizzy Bird are playing. Proceeds of the bar will benefit Raise the Bar and ECOMB, and help raise awareness to this issue.

A University of Miami medicine student launched a program that is bound to launch Miami way ahead in the global green movement.

“Miami has been very behind in the green revolution, but now it’s time to step up to the plate,” said Fernanda Medici, one of the program assistants of ECOMB who is also responsible for pushing the project forward.

Raise the Bar (Miami Beach) is an exciting pilot program designed to promote recycling at local bars across Miami Beach. The program started on Earth Day, April 22nd, 2009, and it provided free recycling services to four select bars across the city through June 2009. In a joint collaboration between the Environmental Coalition of Miami Beach (ECOMB) and World Waste Services, Inc., each bar received complimentary recycling bins and pick-up for the duration of the program. A projected 15,000 bottles and cans have already been recycled in the four bars alone.

This is an unprecedented initiative generously funded by Hands On Miami’s Starbucks
Youth Philanthropy Committee, but this is only the beginning. Founded by committed volunteer / project coordinator, Neha Patel, and ECOMB Director, Luiz Rodrigues, it is intended that the program will eventually grow to incorporate all bars across Miami Beach. Currently, only a small percentage of bars in Miami Beach recycle, despite that recycling is cost-effective, saves money and is mandated by law. As a bold stride towards greenifying Miami Beach, the following bars have graciously committed to the program: Abraxas Lounge, Purdy Lounge, The Catalina, and Waxy O’Connor’s Irish Pub.

The ECOMB volunteers are planning on having a celebratory party at each of the four bars. The intention is to bring awareness to the issue and also raise funds for the organization.

Fabrikalink.com presents Monareta & Minimal live at Transit 7/23/09

monareta_miami_poster
Fabrikalink.com presents:
MONARETA & Minimal live in concert.

Monareta is one of the most original electronic bands from Colombia with a mashup/beat-tripping style.

“The Colombian-born team have been churning out their style of danceable electro-cumbia and breakbeat since 2000, influenced both by their home country and Brooklyn’s electro scene; their new album proves just as cutting edge.” – RCRD LBL

“Monareta has worked hard to stay ahead of the curve with its cinematic sounds indebted to ’80s breakdance and hip-hop and the street culture of their native Bogota.” – BOSTON GLOBE / “Nine to watch in ‘09”

This is the first time comes to Miami and what better band to welcome them than Minimal who recently released “Hermoso Caos” and just came from a long week of performances during the LAMC in New York City.

This is a “MUST” show to let your ears hear some fresh music!

JCI High Speed Business Networking at Mayfair Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove 8/7/09

Here is some good news; business networking events have finally moved into the new millennium!

For years business networking events have followed the same formula. People show up, mingle, and leave with some business cards. Not this time. Thanks to the efforts of a few passionate, inspired and driven young people, there is a new way to network!

The Junior Chamber International (also known as JCI or the Jaycees) is a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs with chapters in over 110 countries. Thanks to their creativity and desire to improve people to people networking, they have come up with a method which allows professionals to truly get the most out business contact exchanges. This new method is high speed networking, also known in the JCI community as “Business Networking Event” or BNE.

This new way of networking allows a participant to meet 10 -15 business contacts in about an hour, spending as little as 3 minutes talking to someone with whom they may be able to do business. The secret? Bypassing formalities and realizing that time is of the essence.

Now that you have a better understanding of this revolutionary way of making professional contacts, we would like to introduce you to one of the chapters that will help your reach your professional goals, that chapter is the JCI of Coconut Grove.

Known as the Champagne Chapter, the Jaycees of Coconut Grove have been around for more than thirty years and has been recognized as one of the most outstanding chapters in the nation. In additional, the chapter has seen many awards, including “Most Outstanding Chapter in all of the Americas”, and in 2002, the JCI World Congress recognized it as one of the best chapters in the world.

This summer the JCI of Coconut Grove has decided to organize a BNE that will bring together young professionals and entrepreneurs from all corners of the globe. The event will be one of many activities offered to those who are interested in leadership and professional development during the appropriately entitled “Gateway of the Americas” Conference. During this three-day conference, Miami will be showcased as the city with the strongest business, cultural, and international connections among the countries in the Americas.

The BNE portion will be taking place at the Mayfair Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove, on Friday August 7th, 2009. Registration will start at 6:00 pm and the networking activities will begin at 7:30pm. Come early to enjoy free appetizers and an introduction to the conference by a key leader in the community. Trust us when we say you will not want to miss out on this opportunity!

Registration information can be found at [URL] or alternately by calling Conny Miranda & Lily Martinez at (786) 443-0659 / (786) 444-6403 or via email at connymiranda@msn.com / limaest@yahoo.com

ABOUT THE FILM
Official Selection of the Sundance Film Festival 2009 and Cannes Film Festival 2009
It’s been a decade since Ben and Andrew were the bad boys of their college campus. Ben has settled down and found a job, wife, and home. Andrew took the alternate route as a vagabond artist, skipping the globe from Chiapas to Cambodia. When Andrew shows up unannounced on Ben’s doorstep, they easily fall back into their old dynamic of macho one-upmanship. Late into the night at a wild party, the two find themselves locked in a mutual dare: to enter an amateur porn contest together. But what kind of boundary-breaking, envelope pushing porn can two straight dudes make? After the booze and “big talk” run out, only one idea remains?they will have sex together?on camera. It’s not porn; it’s art. But how exactly will it work? And more importantly, who will tell Anna (Delmore), Ben’s wife?
Writer/director Lynn Shelton, director of My Effortless Brilliance and recipient of the “Someone to Watch Award” at the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards, expertly mines the biggest ironies of the male ego to hilarious effect. HUMPDAY is a buddy movie gone wild.
“The movie’s unblinking observation of a friendship put to the test is amused, queasy making, kindhearted and unfailingly truthful.” -The New York Times

Workshop with artist Fritz Haeg’s Salon Colada 7/25/09

Convention_SalonColada_evite2
Fritz Haeg engages in diverse artistic and curatorial practices that challenge the everyday. His work has been shown at the Whitney Biennial in New York and Tate Modern in London, and he is the author of Edible Estates: Attack on the Front Lawn and The Sundown Salon Unfolding Archive.

Join artist Fritz Haeg as he discusses his project Salon Colada: Miami HQ, an installation and series of salon discussions he initiated for the exhibition, CONVENTION. Also present will be Keith Waddington and Mindy Nelson, the Coral Gables couple who are hosting the salons in their home while their living room contents are being displayed at MOCA. Los Angeles-based artist, architect and designer Haeg engages in diverse artistic and curatorial practices that include designing houses, facilitating grassroots political activism, and experimenting in radical gardening. Rejecting categorization and specialization, Haeg is attracted to multidisciplinary projects that manifest as social opportunities and inspirational models.
Fritz Haeg has been exhibited at the 2008 Whitney Biennial in New York, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Contemporary Art Museum Baltimore, and the Tate Modern in London. This month, Haeg has published an artist book The Sundown Salon Unfolding Archive, a comprehensive account of a series of salons he held in Los Angeles from 2001-2006 that will be for sale in the MOCA Shop. The salons’ exchange of ideas and art through events, gatherings, and performances came to represent an alternative model to the isolated solitary practice of creating in a private studio or office and became a celebration of communal response to a common purpose and specific environment. Haeg is also the author of Edible Estates: Attack on the Front Lawn (2008) which chronicled the conversion of several sod lawns of private homes into productive vegetable gardens.

cocktails at the grand opening of Don Chile Restaurant in Coral Gables 7/22/09

donchile
DON CHILE OPENS AND ADDS SOME “SPICE” TO THE “CITY BEAUTIFUL”

Coral Gables which is no stranger to housing great eateries is about to add a dash of spice to those who like it a little hot. Don Chile restaurant is ready to take its spot as the best authentic Mexican restaurant in South Florida as owner/chef Erubiel Gutierrez displays his heritage and culinary artistry with a grand opening celebration that will feature music, food, and margaritas! Located on Ponce De Leon Don Chile should be a favorite of the Miracle Mile business sector and residents of Coral Gables.

Don Chile with the help of Creativas Group Public Relations have planned a grand opening event that will feature live mariachi performances, cocktails, food, celebrities, VIP’s, and city officials. A ceremonial ribbon cutting will be spear headed by Coral Gables city officials and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. Celebrities Adriana Cataño, Latin Grammy winner Jorge Moreno, and renowned artist Carlos A Navarro will be on hand for the celebration. Guests can expect to sip on delicious margarita cocktails compliments of Don Chile. Pisco O, which is a high end Peruvian brandy, will also be a featured spirit at the festivities. The Grand Opening of Don Chile will feature bite sized versions of Chef Erubiel Gutierrez’s dishes.

Born in Campeche, Mexico Erubiel Gutierrez is no stranger authentic Mexican Cuisine. Gutierrez who graduated from the Iniciacion University with a degree in graphic design could not keep himself out of the kitchen and thus spent 16 years honing his culinary skills working out of various restaurants. Gutierrez grew tired of the extremely casual or basterdized franchise Mexican restaurants that promoted themselves as authentic. He envisioned a restaurant that would feature true Mexican dishes. To Gutierrez the food from his birth land is an art.

Mexican food is considered by many to be one of the first great fusion cuisines created when 4th century Spaniards imported rice, pork, beef, wine, and other ingredients and fused them with the foods of the indigenous Aztec and Mayan Indians. Gutierrez is a master at creating food with varied flavors, colorful decoration, and combinations of spices and ingredients that true Mexican food is known for. His love of heritage and food finally gave way to his dream of opening his own restaurant which features “Las recetas de Mama” or mothers own recipes.

Don Chile is a family restaurant which features traditional dishes. What amazes most is how balanced the food is. No one ingredient overpowers another which is the opposite with most Americanized Mexican restaurants. The menu is filled with favorites like fajitas, flautas, and carne asada as well as not so well-known traditional Mexican dishes like Torta Chilanga, Pato Castellano which is a dish featuring duck, and the very interesting pickled oyster dish which is an excellent combination of pickled seafood and vegetables.

One can expect to enjoy their meal with a margarita or two while taking in the décor which was designed professionally. The design of this charmingly casual restaurant strikes a perfect blend between traditional and modern décor. Don’t expect overly ethnic décor such as clay pottery or cactus plants. Warm colored fabrics drape from overhead while stunningly oversized pre-Columbian styled masks adorn the walls.

Gutierrez’s vision which is to extend his rich heritage to the masses, is about to come to fruition. Gutierrez wishes to welcome the public to a grand opening celebration on July 22nd from 6:30-9pm that will be a spectacular affair featuring a ribbon cutting, Coral Gables city officials, Mexican Chamber, Mexican Consulate, local celebrities, and VIPS as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony.

For additional information on Don Chile in Coral Gables located at 1915 Ponce De Leon BLVD 33134 and via phone at 305-461-1566.P lease contact: Creativas Group (305) 968-2384 and via email at: info@creativasgroup.com for media coverage, and interviews. Seraphic Fire Presents: Tableau Baroque in Handel’s Inheritance
Par ot Seraphic Fire’s NEW Summer Series. Join us for Handel’s Inheritance, a musical journey through the formative years of this giant of the Baroque period. Starting in Halle, Germany, we trace his travels through Italy and into England, savoring the cosmopolitan blending of French, Italian, and Germanic styles so popular in Europe at he time. Hear the music of Handel’s youth, from chapel, chamber, and stage, as these influences blend into the unmistakable sound of the mature master. Through the compositions of Corelli, Keiser, Schelle, J.P. Krieger, Zachow, Steffani, Handel himself, and others, experience the sonic tapestry of the world in which this young composer became the man we now celebrate. Tableau Baroque is an American chamber music ensemble dedicated to bringing the music of the Baroque to life through emotionally connected, historically informed, illuminating performances. Core members Ian Howell, countertenor, and Henry Lebedinsky, early keyboards, are joined for this concert by Michael Albert, baroque violin/countertenor, and Brian Howard, baroque cello.

Locust Projects presents the TM Sisters Whirl Crash Go 8/29/09

TM Sisters WHIRL CRASH GO!

TM SISTERS WHIRL CRASH GO!
July 15 – October 17, 2009
Debut performance: August 29, 2009 at 8pm
*Save the date. Seating is limited.

Locust Projects is pleased to announce the opening of the 2008 Hilger Artist Project Award Exhibition, the TM Sisters’ WHIRL CRASH GO!
On July 15th, the Miami-based collaborative will begin their 6-week transformation of Locust Projects’ space for a site-specific performance and exhibition debuting on Saturday, August 29th. Visitors are welcome to observe their progress over the summer.

In their most ambitious performance to date, the TM Sisters will present a novel production including their personal athletic skills in synchronized swimming and roller skating. There will be moments of clashing and combination of cultures, animated video projections, and vivid Miami spirit. They are collaborating with audio composer Otto Von Schirach, designer Karelle Levy of Krelwear, and a supporting crew of performers. The TM Sisters’ epic piece will culminate into a kaleidoscope event of light, sound, and action.

Monica Lopez De Victoria, 28, and Tasha Lopez De Victoria, 26, grew up in Miami and collaborate under the name TM Sisters. They work in the media of video, digital video performance, VJing, collage, social experiments, zines, clothing, installations, and interactive video created along with their brother Samuel. Their do-it-yourself ethic began with their being home-schooled together by their parents. Their upbringing included frequent discussions regarding spirituality, psychology, behavior, relationships, creativity, and truth. The sisters’ work has been included in the international exhibitions “Uncertain States of America: American Art in the 3rd Millennium,” curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, Daniel Birnbaum, and Gunnar B. Kvaran; the Second Moscow Biennial of Contemporary Art; and “PERFORMA 07.” Recent exhibitions include “(((sparks))),” Hedreen Gallery at Seattle University, Seattle, WA and “IDEALTONIGHT,” Hollywood Art and Culture Center, Hollywood, FL.

This is the second year that Austrian-based dealer and private collector Prof. Ernst Hilger has teamed up with Locust Projects to support emerging artists. The TM Sisters were selected to receive a $2,000 cash prize and the opportunity to create a seminal work within the Locust Projects’ space.

This exhibition is made possible with the support from: Andy Warhol Foundation; Galt & Skye Mikesell; Hannibal Cox Jr. Foundation; Miami-Dade County Tourist Development Council, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners; State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs. Special thanks to Ernst Hilger; Karelle Levy of Krelwear; Otto Von Schirach; and Justin Broadbent.

Locust Projects hours are Wednesday through Saturday from noon – 5:00 p.m. Beginning July 15th, visitors are welcome to observe the artists’ progress over the summer.

This exhibition will remain on view for the Wynwood and Design District Art Walk on September 12th and October 10th, 7-10pm.

WHIRL CRASH GO! will be performed again October 10, 2009 at 8pm

Locust Projects is an alternative, not-for-profit, Miami-based exhibition space dedicated to providing contemporary visual artists the freedom to experiment with new ideas and methods without the pressures of gallery sales or other limitations of conventional exhibition spaces. Artists are encouraged to create site-specific installations as an extension of their representative work and are provided a residence to live while working, offering them a vibrant Miami experience to develop their ideas and methods. Locust Projects is committed to offering an approachable and inviting venue for the Miami and international art community to experience the work and meet the artists.

ABOUT FUERZA BRUTA
FUERZA BRUTA is an event where worlds collide and reality takes a back seat. This heart-pounding theatrical experience takes place completely on the Lynn Wolfson stage and begins the moment audiences walk in through the Center’s loading dock (dubbed the “Media Dock”) into the G-Lounge – a hip urban space, alive with heart-pounding club music directed by Miami’s best DJs, multimedia art installations created by local artists, and a signature Barton G. food and beverage experience.

At show time, audiences are ushered onto the main stage where they are engulfed in a 360 degree spectacle featuring mind-blowing visual effects just inches above the audience that must be seen to be believed – a man running full throttle on a giant treadmill, bursting through a series of moving walls; performers suspended in mid-air surrounded by a vast sea of mylar; and gorgeous women twisting ethereally in a lucite pool above the audience. Argentinean creative genius Diqui James, one of the creators of the smash hit show De La Guarda, created original scenes and magnificent customized staging exclusively for the Miami engagement.

As the performance winds down, the visual and aural party continues in the G-Lounge. The pre- and post-party lounge is open to the general public.

FUERZA BRUTA premiered in Buenos Aires in 2005 and has been seen in Lisbon (2006), London (2006), Buenos Aires (2006), Bogota (2007) and at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival (2007), where it earned critical praise and was honored with the Bank of Scotland Herald Angel award for “the biggest and best show on the Fringe – the must see event of 2007” (The Herald). FAME would love to thank all of you whom have come out these past two weeks for our ‘rehearsals’. It’s been a blast. We hope we haven’t been responsible for too many “BRIs”, that’s Beer-Related Injuries, for the uninitiated.
We’ve worked out the kinks, the cast can dance without falling on their faces (accidentally) and our crowd can operate the beer funnels without making embarrassments out of themselves. So, we’re ready to do this for real, this coming Friday.
FAME is proud to present the Grand Opening. The madness starts at 11 PM sharp, this Friday July 17th. Check out live performances by our cast of characters, including sing-alongs, fire dancing, and drinking contests, along with musical orchestration by our favorite DJ-in-residence, Nikolas.
RSVP for complimentary admission at rsvp@famedowntown.com or by going to the official FAME website.

Winner of the prestigious FIPRESCI Award at Cannes, Climates is Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s sublime follow-up to his Cannes multi-award winner Distant. Beautifully drawn and meticulously observed, the film vividly recalls the cinema of Antonioni with its poetic use of landscape and the incisive, exquisitely visual rendering of loneliness, loss and the often-elusive nature of happiness. During a sweltering summer vacation on the Aegean coast, the relationship between middle-aged professor Isa (played by Ceylan himself) and his younger, television producer girlfriend Bahar (Ceylan’s real-life wife) brutally implodes. . .
WINNER: Cannes Film Festival FIPRISCI Prize
Istanbul Int. Film Festival Best Turkish Film of the Year
“A MASTERPIECE!…Ceylan takes the crispness of Hi-Def and transforms it into the perfect reflection of the characters’ cool distance.”-Indiewire

ArtCenter/South Florida presents The Walden Project Opening Reception July 25, 7-10pm with an art raffle drawing.

Carl Walden
A Miami Photograher’s Legacy

Many of Walden’s photos depict entertainers from the 40s through the 70s that performed in Miami including Billy Graham, Walter Winchell, Gipsy Rose Lee and Charles Atlas. A native of Sweden , he began his vocation as photographer to the stars at Harper’s Bazaar and later became the official photographer of the McFadden Deauville Hotel (demolished in 1958).

one-three collective
Hugo Moro, Venessa Monokian, Natasha Duwin and Jules Lusson

In 2007, one-three art collective members Duwin, Lusson, Monokian and Moro completed a special six-month residency at ArtCenter/South Florida to develop The Walden Project. This entailed the organization of vast archives from The Carl Walden Studios, bequeathed to one-three member Lusson in 2003 upon the death of the artist’s wife, Mrs. Natalie Walden. Photographer Peggy Levison Nolan joined the collective in selecting large-format negatives from the archives, mostly to generate prints highlighting Walden’s talent and as windows into the culture of Mid-century Miami. “We aspire to grasp the attention of South Florida’s historical institutions with the appropriate facilities to preserve The Carl Walden Archives,” said one-three art collective members. “Whether shown in whole or in part for the use of scholars and artists, our mission is to re-introduce the works of this great photographer and to pay homage to his legacy.”

Opening Reception, July 25th from 7-10 pm
The Walden Project Carl Walden one-three collective
The ArtCenter/ South Florida Gallery is located at 800 Lincoln Road and Meridian Avenue, Miami Beach, Fl.
In conjunction with the opening reception we will have a drawing to win a painting by artist W. Andre Allen in our new monthly raffle. Tickets available at the Gallery.

“The Art of Influence” is a tapestry of ads created by students from South Pointe Elementary, Nautilus Middle and Miami Beach Senior High school students. For this project, their creativity and talents were put to the test. Their advertising copy and accompanying artwork had to include the negative aspects of a real or made up product and still entice the public to want the product.
“The Influence of Art – We Are Artists, Too!” is a tapestry of narratives and artwork created by developmentally disabled adults (ages 18-68) who discovered the artist within and a new way to share with the public what they would like the public to know about them and the meaningful things in their lives.

CFCA projects are made possible through the generous support of: The City of Miami Beach Department of Tourism and Cultural Development, Office of Cultural Affairs, and the Miami Beach Mayor and City Commissioners. The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and the Board of County Commissioners. Our House West of Wynwood (O.H.W.O.W.) presents Michael Genovese It’s Not The Heat, It’s The Humility Phase 2 7/11/09

activation

MICHAEL GENOVESE’S
IT’S NOT THE HEAT, IT’S THE HUMILITY PHASE 2
This exhibition includes documentation of performances that have taken place since the June 13th.

July 11, 2009 – For his premiere solo exhibition in Miami, Michael Genovese releases a recent body of work that will include site-specific installations, sculpture, and paintings.

Michael Genovese’s work operates as a reflection, both in a conceptual context and in a literal sense.  This exhibition addresses a range of subjects, from Art History to American culture, pomposity to personal debt. The artist holds up a mirror in order to understand his identity and his role in relation to these subjects, while challenging the viewer to perform the same exercise. How we define ourselves, our choice of expression, the ways we are influenced by what we read and experience, all create cause for reflection and require a measure of humility in doing so.

Genovese’s text engravings on high-polished aluminum panels are simultaneously illegible and painstakingly detailed; they are further evolved reincarnations of pulp and prose. By turning his formerly disregarded mail – unpaid bills, debt collector threats, and legal documents – into sacred objects, he aims to more accurately convey the power of burden. Also among this collection of engravings is a panel cataloging public commentary gathered from a previous project, citing nonsensical quotes like “Tippy-toe on the pooty-side alongside profound examples: “Our dreams don’t fit on your ballot. Another engraving plucks sections of cultural essays; from Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man “You ache with the need to convince yourself that you do exist in the real world…â€ “Today, let tomorrow go is the incomprehensible message on a monochromatic black painting. In each incarnation of the two-dimensional work a reflection is forced, but an obstacle exists – the process of analysis is difficult, uncomfortable, and at times simply impossible.

Three large-scale sculptures continue the conversation of obstacle and experience. A porch, missing its home, is preserved like a giant chunk of amber containing the DNA of a tragic history. A bizarre arrangement of ordinary pipes and chains is elevated to grandiose through its nickel-plated treatment. Metal rails are manipulated into a circular formation, grounded with cement footings molded from traffic cones. The motive of this work is also an interactive one; an invitation to flex your agility on a course constructed to humiliate. Accumulated sheets of paper, in actuality, weigh less than an ounce, yet can resonate the poundage of an anvil. Genovese takes intellectual ideas and gives them anatomy to match significance, while trying to preserve their original integrity. Ten-gage aluminum panels somehow feel ephemeral, and a hulking wooden sculpture still gives a fragile impression; interpretations change depending on the view.

ABOUT O.H.W.O.W.: Aaron Bondaroff and Al Moran’s Our House West of Wynwood (O.H.W.O.W.) is Miami’s most exciting high profile art space. Designed by Rafael de Cardenas of Architecture at Large, the venue features prominent international and U.S. based experimental art as well as innovative contemporary art forms through an alternative cross-disciplinary perspective.

Miami Lyric Opera presents Marina: A Spanish Opera in Three Acts 7/30-8/1/09

miamilyricopera06_08_09
Miami Lyric Opera presents Marina: A Spanish Opera in Three Acts
July 30th and August 1st, 2009. 8:00 p.m.
Dates: Thursday, July 30th and Saturday, August 1st, 2009. 8:00 p.m.
Location: Colony Theater. 1040 Lincoln Road. Miami Beach, FL 33139.
Admission: $30

Miami Lyric Opera presents Marina, a Spanish opera in three acts set to music by composer Emilio Pascual Arrieta and lyrics by Francisco Camprodon, under the artistic direction of Raffaele Cardone. The cast will include Beverly Coulter, Maruchi Urquiaga, Aurelio Gabaldon, Hugo Marcos, Lilo del Campo, Diego Baner, Ismael Gonzalez and other fine artists. Alfredo Munar will conduct the MLO Orchestra and Pablo Hernandez will be Chorusmaster.
Marina, the orphaned daughter of a merchant captain, awaits the return of Jorge, the man who took her in after her father’s death. She is in love with him, but as he is older and her guardian, she has never dared tell him the truth. Upon Jorge’s returning from a trip, Pascual loses no time in telling him that he intends to get married, who responded that he has had the same thought, so why don’t they marry on the same day? Pascual names Marina, to Jorge’s shock and consternation. Marina is equally hurt that Jorge apparently wants to marry someone else.
One day Pascual intercepts a sailor bringing a letter from Marina’s father that wrote before dying asking Alberto to give to her. The letter included her father’s declaration of eternal love and that leaps Pasqual to the obvious conclusion, denounces Marina bluntly, breaks off the engagement and cursing rushes away. Jorge appears, and soon understands Pascual’s mistake and the innocent identity of the letter writer. When he hints he will be leaving tomorrow, Marina can no longer avoid telling him the identity of the man she really loves, and they admit their love for one another.
Emilio Pascual Arrieta (1821 – 1894) was born in Puente la Reina, Navarre, and died in Madrid. His Italian training led him, under the favour of the Queen Isabel II, to concentrate on operatic writing; and though he later composed zarzuelas he remained less committed to the renascent art form than his contemporaries such as Francisco Asenjo Barbieri, continuing to write in an essentially Italianate style throughout his life. The 1887, through-sung and rewritten opera version of his zarzuela, Marina, is one of the most popular lyric stage work in the Spanish repertoire.

“Irreversible an International Art Project is an ongoing exhibition exploring the perception of art and the identity of the artist through history and, in our contemporary society”

ABOUT US
Irreversible is an international art project founded in 2005 by Norelkys (Noor) Blazekovic, to portray how in recent decades artists have progressively expanded the boundaries of art, as they have sought to engage in an increasingly pluralistic environment. The creating and understanding of art, are likewise no longer grounded in traditional aesthetics. It is an honor for us to invite each of you to be part of our upcoming Summer event “IRREVERSIBLE 100 Most” to participate in the freedom of developing new models and instruments from everyday life, as Irreversible evolves in its efforts to become a creative medium for the better understanding of the complexities of our contemporary existence. I take great pride in sharing our success with you.
“IRREVERSIBLE 100 Most” will be held and sponsor by the prestigious CIFO (cifo.org), the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation Miami, FL USA, a non-profit organization, established in 2002 by Ella Fontanals Cisneros and her family to foster cultural exchange among the visual arts. Cifo is dedicated to the support of emerging and mid-career contemporary multidisciplinary artists who are challenging the established boundaries that define much contemporary art today.

About Jim Pollock: A Phantasy Pheast
Jim Pollock is an internationally renowned artist best known for his bold and vibrant linoleum prints associated with the band Phish. In the 1980’s as Phish toured relentlessly they embraced Pollock’s unique and organic imagery for tour posters/flyers, t-shirts, and cd covers.

Jim Pollock: A Phantasy Pheast will reveal for the first time a complete retrospective on his two-decade plus career with a chronological collection of Pollock’s life as an artist. In addition to his association with music art, Pollock has a low-key passion for activism and has artfully endorsed environmental and social issues from Hemp paper to solar power to a most ironic commentary on the country’s oil consumption.

A Phantasy Pheast is the largest and most extensive exhibition of Jim Pollock’s artwork ever on display in one location. This exhibit also features a detailed tour through the artist’s unique imagery, shows his technique and also allows the perfect chance meet the artist. For more information visit: www.pollockprints.com or http://www.101exhibit.com.

The Premiere Of Fame Downtown 7/10/09

fame
We at FAME would like to thank everyone for showing up to our Sneak Peek this past Friday evening. It was amazing, astounding, enthralling, and of course messy and downright dirty!
And this weekend will be no exception. We’ve ironed out the kinks and we are ready to rock Downtown this Friday evening. On July 10th, we’re proud to present the Premiere of FAME.
As we showed you this past Friday, FAME is not going to be a typical nightclub experience. With live performances by our talented cast of characters (and yes we really mean “characters”) worthy of a Hollywood epic, well, if the lovechild of Fellini and Quentin Tarantino got together to make a movie, FAME keeps the audience entertained all night long with said live performances, interactive experiences, and classic drinking games worthy of the cheesiest summer camp knockoff flick. And rounding out the entertainment this evening will be none other than our versatile musical maestro, Nikolas.
The madness doesn’t stop early either, as we’re proud to present the premiere of Disco Sh*t, the new Saturday morning afterhours experience to hit Downtown Miami.
Starting at 4 AM, FAME gets down to serious business and explores the dark and dirty side of Hollywood, presenting some of the latest twisted house sounds to come out of the studios of talented DJs and producers the world over.
We’re proud to launch this new experience with none other than one of Miami’s newest DJ/Production duos, the Cocodrills. These youngsters have been tearing up the charts as of late, with a body of work reminiscent of talents much older. Check them out this Saturday morning on the decks at FAME…
RSVP for complimentary admission at rsvp@famedowntown.com or by going to the official FAME website.

Cremata Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of its annual Summer Exhibition featuring various artists that have been with the gallery since its inception, and others that have joined us recently. The exhibition comprises 40 works including paintings, drawings and sculptures. The result is something uniquely eclectic and entirely contrary to delimited chronologies and rigorous themes. The joy of the Summer Exhibition always comes more from unexpected juxtapositions, not from the pairing of like with like, allowing the eye and imagination a rare freedom, not telling you what you ought to admire or notice.
The show opens at the gallery with a reception on Friday, July 10th at 7:30 p.m. It will run from July 1st to August 10th from Monday through Friday, 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. or by appointment. It is free and open to the public. All works are available for purchase.

This Summer’s Biggest Reggae Event

Accompanied by a killer band of outstanding reggae musicians, the cast performs all the classic songs from the film soundtrack, including “By The Rivers of Babylon,” the title song, and the unforgettable global phenomenon, “You Can Get It If You Really Want.”

August 29 – September 13
John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County is proud to present, for the first time in the United States, the internationally acclaimed hit musical THE HARDER THEY COME, opening August 29 in the John S. and James L. Knight Concert. Direct from London’s West End, THE HARDER THEY COME will offer audiences a peek into the journey of an aspiring reggae star as depicted in the 1972 international breakthrough film that caused a reggae music explosion heard around the world.

Hailed by Time Out as “a real thrill…the band is tight, the clothes are right – it’s a sure-fire smash hit,” THE HARDER THEY COME features a cast of 16 Jamaican-born performers and tells the story of young singer Ivanhoe Martin (played by Rolan Bell) as he arrives in Kingston, Jamaica with dreams of becoming a reggae star. A corrupt and drug-fueled music industry drives him into a fast and furious life as Jamaica’s most-wanted outlaw and most-celebrated underground star. Reggae music star and pioneer Jimmy Cliff starred in the ‘70s film of the same title, which catapulted the island’s signature sound into a globally recognized and respected genre, turning Jimmy Cliff and reggae music in general, into an international sensation. “With top-class acting, singing and dancing, [this] superb production faithfully distils not just the movie’s music and characters, but also, somehow its soul” (The Standard).

“The Harder They Come made music history, introducing the world, and the United States in particular, to reggae music. Miami, in the summer of 2009, will be long remembered as the epicenter of cultural history as we host the U.S. premiere of this hit musical at the Adrienne Arsht Center,” said Adrienne Arsht Center President and CEO, M. John Richard. “With three international stage productions to enjoy this summer, including the return of last summer’s smash-hit Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz and the visual spectacular Fuerza Bruta, South Florida has a world of entertainment options that reflect the diversity of our resident community.”

Accompanied by a killer band of outstanding reggae musicians, the cast performs all the classic songs from the film soundtrack, including “By the Rivers of Babylon,” the title song, and the unforgettable global phenomenon, “You Can Get It If You Really Want.”

The film of THE HARDER THEY COME was written, produced and directed by the late Perry Henzell. Perry also wrote the book for the musical, which was originally produced by Theatre Royal Stratford East and UK Arts. The West End production, which comes to Miami is directed by Kerry Michael and Dawn Reid and produced by Jan Ryan and Robert Fox.

THE HARDER THEY COME is sponsored in part by Heineken USA Incorporated.

TICKETS
Tickets for THE HARDER THEY COME are on sale now. Single ticket prices range from $50 and $95 and can be purchased through the Adrienne Arsht Center box office at 305.949.6722 or online at www.arshtcenter.org. For information on group sales, please call 786.468.2326.

Andres Dominguez solo exhibition opening at Art Rouge Gallery7/11/09

What:  Opening reception of Andres Dominguez’s solo exhibition “Pieles”. Art Rouge Gallery is pleased to present the first solo exhibition in our gallery of new collection “Pieles” by Miami based Chilean artist Andres Dominguez. Andres’s works takes on the human body as subject matter, revealing psychological complexities inherent within these structures. After years of creative exploration A. Dominguez developed his own artistic language with his unique combination of the impeccable reproduction of the human figure and his own color concept. His painting reflects the presence and absence or the human form, in all its forms and its fleeting moment of appearance and disappearance.
We will welcome our guests with drinks sponsored by Buena Cepa Wines to celebrate the show. We look forward to seeing you.

More on Jeremy Ellis…
AYRO is a sonic chef who mixes ingredients from across the musical spectrum. The freestyle live set specialist, pianist, singer and MPC virtuoso sounds nothing like you’ve heard before. Audiences stand in awe while witnessing the joyful fury that is his performance style. His fans often resemble that of students as his wildly intelligent, yet unforgivingly danceable tracks perplex the most eager and adept melodic minds. Combining a lifetime of classical training with a meticulous obsession with sound, Ellis demonstrates himself as one of the forerunners of a new era in electronic music pushing instruments beyond their creators’ intentions. He has been called the voice of Detroit’s new sound and even acclaimed by Stevie Wonder himself. In a city with such important heritage as Motown and the birthplace of Techno he was awarded Best Electronic Artist 2009 by Real Detroit Magazine. Ayro has worked with such luminaries as Carl Craig, John Beltran, Recloose, John Arnold, Underground Resistance, Bugz in the Attic and Alton Miller to name a few. With poetic lyrical flow and melodic ingenuity combined with vintage sounds like the Rhodes piano and the Moog with raw sounds of the street through the earthly growl of the 808. Ayro’s intrinsic use of the MPC has grown into a wild toad’s ride that hasn’t been seen since Hendrix non-chalant shredding of guitar licks with his teeth.

opening reception July 10th 7pm – 12am
closing August 10th

Joseph O’Neals first Solo exhibition in Miami is not about a specific theme or incident but rather a feeling of nostalgic just out of reach memories. O’Neals work is viewed with the eyes but understood with the nervous system. He has a unique way of drumming up transcendental dialogue and emotions through an archaic system of symbols and imagery.

Part of the bluetan collective consisting of Geoff Henshall, Brandon Fonville, and Steve Chellis (all of which will have a few pieces on view) and drawing inspiration through his past in North Carolina as well as the bustling energy of is current home in New York City. According to O’Neal “It’s the space between the viewer and the piece I’m after, the resolution to the conflict between the two.”

{So, we went to down to the Chamizo Gallery to see our good friend Gapal, and of course we met some new friends. Then we noticed that the other galleries were open and crowded and realized that it was the Coral Gables Art Walk. So, we wandered around for a bit. Surprisingly, this was one of the best Gables Art Walks that we have been to, event though it was an off weekend, with the holiday.}

The Americas Collection has the pleasure of inviting you to an extraordinary cultural event on Thursday, July 9, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. The gallery will showcase works of Pablo Picasso courtesy of the Ortiz-Gurdian Family Collection. Mr. & Mrs. Ramiro Ortiz are the founders and owners of The Americas Collection and The Ortiz-Gurdian Foundation, a not for profit organization in Nicaragua. As a tribute to their friends, clients, and the cities of Coral Gables and Miami, Mr. and Mrs. Ortiz are honored to share with the public their love for the arts and their support for the cultural enrichment of the local community.
The Ortiz-Gurdian Foundation was created in 1996 with the purpose of diffusing and promoting the visual arts in Central America. This organization has sponsored the various biennials that have taken place in this region for the past 12 years. In 2002, parallel to their art program, the Ortiz-Gurdian Family expanded their commitment to their community by creating the Breast Cancer Program for low income women of Nicaragua. This health program currently saves the lives of approximately 600 women each year.
The Americas Collection is another institution close to Mr. and Mrs. Ortiz’s hearts. Moved by the same love that made The Ortiz-Gurdian Foundation possible, The Americas Collection has dedicated 18 years to the enhancement of Latin American art.
On July 9th, the gallery will present the complete collection of twenty-nine lithographs from the Suite entitled Imaginary Portraits by Pablo Picasso. This exhibition will be on display for cultural and educational purposes only. After a two week presentation at The Americas Collection, the show will embark on a two year traveling exhibition around Central and South America.
This special evening will be accompanied by lectures from two of the most respected persons in the Miami art community, the Director and Chief Curator of the Frost Art Museum, Dr. Carol Damian, and the art critic for El Nuevo Herald, Mr. Carlos Luis. The lectures are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
This exhibition will be the last presentation at the gallery’s 2440 Ponce de Leon location. Beginning August 1st, The Americas Collection will continue its exhibitions at 214 Andalusia Avenue in Coral Gables – across the street from its former location.
We hope you can join us for a glass of champagne to celebrate this extraordinary evening with friends. The exhibition will be open from July 9 through July 25, 2009.

After successful launches in San Diego and in Las Vegas, where Las Vegas Weekly called us ” the mother lode, the very seat of hybridized business/social networking,” thereby marking the first time we’ve ever been referred to as a mother lode, NetParty returns with a full-schedule of upcoming events for South Florida young professionals.

As seen in Forbes (Best of the Web) and Cosmopolitan Magazine (“Top New Ways to Meet”), our NetParty Networking Events are held in each city’s hippest nightspots and “combine business networking with social fun.”

You are invited to RSVP For Free Admssion for our evening of business and social networking at Passion at the Hard Rock, through July 30 ($10 at the door after July 30 with RSVP; $15 without RSVP).
We expect over 300 young professionals to attend this event. Please join us for:
Great drink specials
Complimentary hors d’oeuvres (6:30-7:30 pm)
Cool music played at a low volume to facilitate successful business and social networking until 8 pm
DJ spinning great music and creating a fun atmosphere after 8 pm while allowing for continued conversation and interaction.
Making the acquaintance of hundreds of new, young, fun people for business contacts and friendships like you can do nowhere else.
Our events will be free in South Florida (with your timely RSVP) while we continue to build South Florida’s strongest young professionals membership. Later this year, we will have to begin charging a small fee for our events.
We look forward to seeing you!
