The National Salute to America’s Heroes presented by Hyundai is a nationwide two-day celebration of the true spirit of Memorial Day, held annually in Miami Beach, Florida, and featuring the Hyundai Air & Sea Show®. The world-class signature event, The Greatest Show Above the Earth®, returns to Miami Beach on Memorial Day Weekend (Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, 2026), headlined by the United States Air Force Thunderbirds.

The FREE and open-to-the-public event showcases the men and women, technology, and equipment from all branches of the United States Military. Event attendees will have the incredible opportunity to set their eyes skyward and witness the precision flying of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, along with other elite military aerial demonstrations and state-of-the-art air assets. The celebration continues beyond the skies with the Music Explosion, featuring live entertainment along Ocean Drive. The Patriot Display Village offers interactive military equipment, including helicopters, tactical gear, and simulators, along with corporate activations, an Action Zone, the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Kids Zone, extreme sports demonstrations, live music, the Mission BBQ food court, and more.

The 2026 Hyundai Air & Sea Show also serves as the kickoff celebration for America’s 250th anniversary, bringing an added layer of unity, patriotism, and national pride to Memorial Day Weekend.

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, following the Hyundai Air & Sea Show, attendees are invited to enjoy FREE live entertainment along Ocean Drive featuring country music sensation Parmalee. The group is known for four No. 1 singles on the Billboard Country Airplay charts, including “Carolina,” “Just the Way,” “Take My Name,” and “Gonna Love You.”

The evening will also feature a 3D Mapping Projection beginning at sunset on 14th Street and Ocean Drive, illuminating the iconic Art Deco buildings with patriotic visuals, followed by a nighttime pyro parachute jump by the U.S. Army Golden Knights on Ocean Drive.

Hued Songs opens its 2026 Juneteenth Experience with the Florida Emancipation Day Celebration, a free, family-friendly event honoring May 20, 1865, the date Florida’s enslaved people received word of their freedom. Held at the Ali Cultural Arts Center in Pompano Beach, the celebration will feature workshops led by Alana DaCosta, a community block party, live DJ, free catered bites by Sidecar Catering, creative placemaking stations, a pop-up market of local vendors and a featured outdoor performance with Wilkie Ferguson III, Miriam King, Arsimmer McCoy and Inez Barlatier.

Learn about the landmark people, places and legal cases that built Broward County in History Fort Lauderdale’s newest exhibition, “Justice from The Sea to The Sawgrass: A History of the Broward County Judiciary.” This free exhibition will be on view at the New River Inn (231 SW 2nd Ave. in Downtown Fort Lauderdale) from May 1 – 30 before it moves to its permanent home in the Broward County Courthouse.

History buffs will learn about the Broward County Judiciary’s rich (and sometimes, storied) past beginning with its incorporation in 1915. Through archival photographs, artifacts and legal documents, visitors will view the original buildings housing the county’s judicial system, learn about Broward’s first judge, Jacob F. Bunn (1915-1920), its first female judicial officer, Eunice C. Rencher, the first female judge to be elected to a state bench, Mildred Akerman, and first two African American judges, Thomas J. Reddick, Jr., and Alcee Hastings. Also on display are several legal documents, articles and photos documenting the highly publicized national investigation of the death of celebrity Anna Nicole Smith and the infamous 2000 Florida Election Recount. Judicial robes and other personal effects from several previous judges and legal representatives add to the exhibit’s significance.

It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent displays including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “Roots of Resilience: The Journey of Black Broward,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: The Story of Boatbuilding Along the New River,” “Seminole Arts & Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture,” “The Growth and History of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office,” and “Take PRIDE, a Retrospective on LGBTQ Life in South Florida.”

History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with docent-guided tours offered daily at 1, 2, and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors; and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military personnel, and children aged six and under.
