Aqua Art Miami 2009 12/3-6/09

Aqua Art Miami is a contemporary art fair that takes place in Miami concurrent with Art Basel Miami Beach. Aqua started in 2005 as an experimental project at the Aqua Hotel in South Beach near Art Basel, and eventually expanded to include a larger booth-style fair called Aqua Wynwood.

This year the fair will focus on just the Aqua Wynwood location, consolidating the best of both fairs into one exceptional event. Aqua Wynwood opens with a VIP Preview Brunch on Thursday morning, December 3, and the exhibition continues through Sunday, December 6.

art fair Art Basel Miami Beach. The fair is located in a warehouse in the heart of Miami’s gallery district, just a few blocks from the Rubell Collection and near other important venues such as the Margulies Collection, the MOCA Goldman Warehouse and many of the largest satellite fairs. With a clever floor plan and permanent 10 to 12 foot museum quality walls, Aqua Wynwood is widely regarded as the most beautiful and most art-friendly exhibition space in Miami during Art Basel week.

This year Aqua Wynwood will again feature approximately 50 exhibitors in an intimate booth-style setting. Aqua leases the warehouse year-round, allowing exhibitors and their artists plenty of time to create special installations and other projects which are difficult in temporary spaces. Aqua Wynwood also features a breezy open air lounge with food and entertainment.

Aqua is pleased to be featuring Gen Art Vanguard this year at Aqua Wynwood. Gen Art debuted its Vanguard fair in Miami last year during Art Basel week, bringing together the top galleries, artists, and individuals who are defining the New Contemporary art movements. From Pop Surrealism and New Brow to Urban Contemporary, Vanguard aims to advance the dialogue about these emerging contemporary art movements and their cultural context within the art world.
