Join art lovers this August on Lincoln Road for the next monthly celebration that showcases the district’s arts and cultural presence. Aligning with the City of Miami Beach’s popular Culture Crawl, participating galleries activate their spaces with new exhibitions, artist meet and greets, giveaways and more every third Thursday of the month.

Guests will find enhanced wayfinding across the promenade, including postcard maps, QR codes and signage outside each gallery, to help guide their experience.

Current art includes:

Chocolate Girl: This sculpture by Ignacio Gana, a Miami-based Chilean sculptor whose work is figurative and sensually elegant, debuted during Miami Art Week 2025. It is an ode to womanhood and beauty born from freedom, where gold is a symbol of living intensely.

Gillie and Marc: Renowned British and Australian artistic duo Gillie and Marc have dedicated their creative endeavors to raising awareness and celebrating the beauty of wildlife. Their striking “Wild Couch Party” sculpture is on display on Lincoln Road through September.

Known for his evocative depictions of architecture, memory, and place, famed Cuban American artist and University of Miami alumnus Humberto Calzada (1944-2025) created a body of work that continues to resonate across generations.

Join us for a conversation celebrating Calzada’s life, artistic achievements, and lasting influence.

Humberto Calzada (1944-2025) nurtured his childhood dream of becoming an architect by sketching houses he encountered on his daily journey to his elementary school, the Saint George School in El Vedado, Cuba. After his family relocated to Miami, Florida, in 1960 following the Cuban Revolution, he attended Coral Gables Senior High School. Calzada then pursued engineering studies at the University of Miami, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering in 1966 and an M.B.A. in 1968.

While working at IBM in Boca Raton, his passion for architecture and design continued to grow. Transitioning to become a general contractor, he constructed several homes in Miami-Dade County, including his own residence in South Miami. Concurrently, he delved into painting as a hobby, seeking to capture the opulence of Colonial and Neoclassical Havana homes and the vivid colors and textures of the Caribbean, pieced together from memories and the sketches from his childhood that he had brought with him.

Welcome to Eureka Day, the ultra-progressive private school in California where every voice matters—until a mumps outbreak turns harmony into hysteria. In this, a well-meaning board of directors prides itself on consensus and inclusion. But when public health collides with personal beliefs, even the most open-minded parents find themselves at odds. As tensions rise and Zoom meetings spiral into chaos, the community must confront the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, doing the right thing means not pleasing everyone.

Eureka Day premiered at Aurora Theatre Company in Berkeley, California in April 2018 then moved to New York at Walkerspace the following year. Its European premiere at The Old Vic in September, 2022 featured Mark McKinney, Helen Hunt, Susan Kelechi Watson, Kirsten Foster and Ben Schnetzer. In 2024, Eureka Day premiered on Broadway at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre starring Bill Irwin, Amber Gray, Jessica Hecht, Thomas Middleditch, Chelsea Yakura-Kurtz and Eboni Flowers.

Jonathan Spector is a Tony Award-winning playwright based in Oakland, California, whose work has been produced on and off-Broadway, regionally and internationally. His plays include Eureka Day (2025 Best Revival: Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Drama League Award & Dorian Award); This Much I Know (Edgerton Award, Glickman Award, BATCC Award); Birthright; Best Available; Siesta Key; and Good. Better. Best. Bested. Spector’s work has been produced with Manhattan Theatre Club, the Old Vic/Sonia Friedman Productions, Pasadena Playhouse, Hampstead Theatre, Miami New Drama, Colt Coeur, Theater J, Syracuse Stage, Asolo Rep, Aurora Theatre, Marin Theatre and Mosaic Theater, among others. He has been a MacDowell Fellow, Playwrights Foundation Resident Playwright, TheatreWorks Core Writer, Playwrights Center Core Writer, SPACE on Ryder Farm Resident and PlayPenn Haas Fellow. Jonathan is currently under commission with Manhattan Theatre Club, Roundabout Theatre Company and La Jolla Playhouse.

Island City Stage’s production of Eureka Day is directed by Andy Rogow and stars Brandon Campbell (Eli), Jen Chia (Meiko), Rita Cole (Carina), Ted DeChatelet (Don), and Maribeth Graham (Suzanne).

History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will present “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” from Thursday, July 9, through Sunday, September 13. This free summer fine art exhibit exploring Florida’s evolving natural and urban landscapes will feature works by award-winning artist Tim Forman and photographer David Paulo plus contextual historical maps of our timeless state.

Visitors to History Fort Lauderdale’s “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” will experience Tim Forman’s artfully curated oil on canvas masterworks of the Florida Everglades, waterscapes, beachscapes and natural wildlife. These landscapes are complemented by David Paulo’s bold photographic narrative of buildings and neighborhoods in South Florida that are significant to culture and life of minority communities. Documented cities include Sistrunk, Lauderhill, and Dania Beach. Historical maps of Florida from pre-Revolutionary War/Spanish Florida in 1749 to British controlled Florida in 1763 to Florida as a U.S. state in 1845 and illustrative panels will context and clarity about our history.

“Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” is part of History Fort Lauderdale’s contribution to America’s 250 activities. On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.

Support for History Fort Lauderdale’s “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” exhibit has been provided by the following Funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: Jan and Ed Crocker Unrestricted Fund, Leo M. and Alice J. Rutten Fund, and The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Broward Community Fund. Additional funding is provided, in part, by Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward County Cultural Council and Visit Lauderdale.

History Fort Lauderdale offers a variety of engaging multicultural experiences throughout the year. It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent displays including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “Roots of Resilience: The Journey of Black Broward,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: The Story of Boatbuilding Along the New River,” “Seminole Arts & Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture,” “The Growth and History of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office,” and “Take PRIDE, a Retrospective on LGBTQ Life in South Florida.”

History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under. This summer, Miami’s own Masisi collective returns to The Bass for a dynamic three-part residency celebrating diasporic creativity, queer community, and cultural joy.

Each month, Masisi brings a new wave of sound, movement, and gathering to assume vivid astro focus: XI—a floor-to-ceiling installation that fuses sculpture, video, and design into a vibrant, participatory environment. Founded by Akia Dorsainvil, Masisi is a Black Queer Afro-Caribbean collective known for creating events that blend nightlife, storytelling, and performance. Through a series of evening programs featuring DJ sets, film screenings, live activations, and more, Masisi invites guests to experience the exhibition in entirely new ways—cultivating connection, expression, and exchange.
