Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim returns with its sixth year to celebrate all-things swim with five days of runway shows. The annual fashion showcase in Miami is the world’s leading swimwear designer platform and will debut Trina Turk, Ed Hardy, True Religion, Poko Pano and Tyler Rose Swimwear, Spring/Summer 2011 collections at South Beach’s most illustrious venue, The Raleigh Hotel.
§ On Thursday, July 15, 2010 to kick off Swim Week 2011, Los Angeles-based designer Trina Turk will set the runway with west coast glamour at 7:00 p.m. in the Cabana Grande tent. Marking the designer’s first appearance at the annual swimwear event, the Trina Turk Swim & Spa 2011, making a splash with colorful and intricately-crafted swimwear, beach essentials and accessories. The alluring showcase of laid-back, Palm Springs lifestyle, including color palettes of orange, turquoise, pink and deep violet, is incorporated into feminine silhouettes and sultry cuts, accented with hardware inspired by vintage jewelry. § On Friday, July 16, 2010 celebrate the showcase of Ed Hardy Swimwear with a pool party at Plunge; Rooftop Pool Bar and Lounge at Gansevoort Miami Beach Hotel from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Later that evening at 9:00 p.m. in the Cabana Grande tent, guests including A-list singer/songwriter and actor Chris Brown, will gather at The Raleigh Hotel for the Spring 2011 swimwear showcase. Maintaining the tattoo edge that Ed Hardy is infamous for, designer Christian Audigier incorporates a feminine flare by mixing bright, bold colors and saturated neon’s. New embellishments including zipper accents, lurex straps, chainlink details and custom hardware and textures, take the authentic Ed Hardy art and give the brand a fresh, new upgrade. Perfect for the beach or poolside, new tie-dye combinations of lime paired with gold, shades of mango, vivid blues and aqua’s, add a tropical twist. A look for every style, the Spring 2011 collection include suits for the edgy girl, who will adorn the mesh, leather, black vixen bikinis; or the girly trend-setter will have to own, the pin-up style polka-dot bikini or tropical edge inspired pieces. § On Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. Poko Pano celebrates the showcase of their Summer 2011 collection in the Oasis tent. Designer Paolo Robba declares her love of Brazil by incorporating the country’s natural beauty into swimwear. The 2011 collection is an expression of Brazil’s array of intense attractions, landscapes and aromas. Signature prints include heart-shaped patterns representing Paola’s adoration for Brazil, watermelon symbolizing the country’s rich tastes, toucan birds and banana flowers signifying the vibrant scenery, roses and coconut trees denoting the aromatic atmosphere. The brightly-hued color palette includes yellow, red, green, turquoise, black and white. § On Saturday, July 17, 2010, True Religion Swimwear will host a pool party at Plunge; Rooftop Pool Bar and Lounge at Gansevoort Miami Beach Hotel from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Later that evening at 9:00 p.m., True Religion Swimwear will showcase its Spring 2011 collection at The Raleigh Hotel’s Cabana Grande tent. The collection continues to offer a vintage-Americana, hippie-esqe style to women’s swimwear in a wide variety of colors and prints. Rock n’ roll metal accents dominate the line with western and eyelet fabrics, plaid prints and washed and vintage denim. A new twist of animal prints, in many variations from leopard print on suede, to jeweled animal print bikinis, make up the collection. Men’s styles feature sublimated board shorts with denim construction and embossing; vintage-inspired board shorts, and 60’s prints, a nod to Southern California surfers.
