Guitarists Jennifer Batten and Vicki Genfan to Perform in Florida Keys 5/18/09

Batten/Genfan
Monday, May 18
8 p.m.
TIB Amphitheater

On Monday, May 18, at the TIB Bank of the Keys Amphitheater, fans can experience two of the most critically acclaimed guitarists playing today — Jennifer Batten and Vicki Genfan.

At one point Batten was in 6 different bands, playing everything from straight ahead rock, to metal, fusion, and funk. A major turning point came when she was selected from more than 100 guitarists to play in Michael Jackson’s band, resulting in 3 world tours over 10 years and playing in front of almost 5 million people.

Spring of 98’ saw Batten joining legendary guitarist Jeff Beck, resulting in two CDs (“Who Else,” “You Had It Coming”) and corresponding world tours. Says

the Cleveland Plain Dealer of Jennifer’s Rock N Roll Hall of Fame performance honoring Les Paul: “The evening’s showstopper was Jennifer Batten…amazing and technically dazzling.”

Vicki Genfan has captivated both US and international audiences with a unique style that defies description. Winner of the prestigious 2008 Guitar Player’s “Guitar Superstar”Award, Vicki has developed a sound all her own.

As Joel Selvin of the San Francisco Chronicle writes, “Genfan doesn’t just play guitar. She also slaps it, tickles it, fondles it, scratches it, tosses it around in her hands and coaxes all kinds of unlikely, rhythmic sounds out of the otherwise simple instrument.”

Vicki is that rare artist whose live performances are becoming legendary among fans.

Genfan’s newest release is “UnCovered.”

Art, Straight from the Ahol BY RAINA MCLEOD Art, Straight from the Ahol With a beard like tar-soaked cotton candy and a mouthful of 24-karat dental work, Alouishous San Gomma is hard to miss. And lucky for our cultural landscape, the Hialeah-born artist and winner of Colt 45’s Ink the Can Contest produces pieces that are just as loud — his weapon of choice being the pen and his canvas all of Miami. Also known as Aholsniffsglue, this dude creates droopy-eyed characters that pepper lightpoles and brick walls city-wide, but this Saturday, catch his work at “P(ART)Y,” a full retrospective of his career and the first exhibit that showcases Ahol’s works exclusively. “I’ve been doing my thing for quite awhile, and I’ve been involved in many different aspects of Miami, from the punk scene to the party scene to art stuff,” Ahol explains. “And this is a collective of what I’ve been doing for the past 10 years.” At Stash Gallery from 7 p.m. to midnight, fellow party boys José El Rey and Slim Biscayne (the other two-thirds of the ¿Que Pasa M.I.A.? crew) will join him, which means there’ll be no better party than this one. Did we mention there’ll be grilled cheese sandwiches?

Perhaps most notorious around Miami for the cryptic stickers and tags bearing his name that pop up on every light pole, mailbox, bar wall, and bus stop, Aholsniffsglue is one of this city’s most mysterious, prolific, and off-the-wall creative spirits. If you’ve been around the gallery circuit a bit (or have even attended one of the raucous parties hosted by his crew, ¿Que Pasa Mia?), then you’ve no doubt seen at least one of his drawings, paintings, or printworks, which often showcase his meticulous line-work in blue ballpoint pen. If you haven’t, tonight is your chance to catch up, as Stash Gallery hosts a retrospective exhibition. Ahol’s ¿Que Pasa Mia? compadre Jose el Rey mans the decks.

What Comes After
Nancy Friedemann
On View May 20, 2009- September 20, 2009
Nancy Friedemann lives and works in Bogota, Colombia and New York. In her paintings, she manipulates symbols that deal with ideas about femininity and the role of women in art history. Friedemann is inspired by Spanish colonial painting styles and Minimalism. In painting these delicate objects in a careful and detailed way, Friedemann monumentalizes them, giving them a heroic place and scale. By re-enacting the process of making lace through drawing and painting, each done with tiny strokes and an economy of materials, Friedemann explores the experience of identity and memory from a feminist perspective.

The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale and Nova Southeastern University Present The Muscular Body as Living Art 7/9/09

The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale and Nova Southeastern University Present: “The Muscular Body as Living Art” A live art exhibition and discussion

On Thursday, July 9, at 6:00 p.m., the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale, Nova Southeastern University and the 2009 NPC Southern States Fitness, Figure, Bikini & Bodybuilding Championships will unite to present “The Muscular Body as Living Art.” The special event will be held at the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale’s Horvitz Auditorium and outdoor Sculpture Terrace in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This summer’s event is inspired by the Whitney Museum of American Art’s 1976 live exhibition, “The Body as Art,” which featured Arnold Schwarzenegger, Frank Zane, and Ed Corney.

Ellie Rodriguez, the entertainment reporter for Deco Drive, will host “The Muscular Body as Living Art” – a fun, live exhibition featuring NPC Bodybuilding Champions with commentary by noted faculty from Nova Southeastern University. The faculty will discuss male and female muscular body images throughout art history from sculpture to pop art. During the discussion, NPC Bodybuilding Champions will bring iconic sculptures such as The Thinker, Diana (goddess of the hunt), Hercules (of the Theatre of Pompey), and Michelangelo’s David to life-posed on pedestals. The audience is invited to participate in what promises to be a lively discussion on male and female muscular body images in society.

“Artists for centuries have studied the human body, its contours, beauty, and power,’’ said Irvin Lippman, Executive Director of the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale. “Now, front and center for the first time, and guaranteed to be a one-day blockbuster, we offer you what promises to be an exceptional exhibition of muscular energy.”

The event will be followed by an outdoor party with refreshments featuring bodybuilders posing, live musical performances and an extravagant wall-to-wall screening of the Arnold Schwarzenegger documentary “Pumping Iron.”

“This event will be an exciting pre-event to our 2009 NPC Southern States Championships,” commented Peter W. Potter, NPC National Vice-President & Promoter. “From the classical times of the Greeks & Romans to the present, a muscular physique has been the subject of artists and sculptors world-wide. The participating bodybuilders will exhibit the finest physiques of the present, as they will be in contest shape ready for the July 10-11 2009 NPC Southern States Championships contest.”

“The Muscular Body as Living Art” will be an excellent preview to NPC Southern States Fitness, Figure, Bikini & Bodybuilding Championships on July 10th and July 11th at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale. The NPC Southern States Fitness, Figure, Bikini & Bodybuilding Championships is the largest, regional national qualifier east of the Mississippi and includes teenage, adult and senior competitors (both men and women) from ten different states plus Puerto Rico. The NPC Southern States Fitness, Figure, Bikini & Bodybuilding Championships is open to any athlete registered by the NPC (National Physique Committee) which is a part of the International Federation of Body Builders, an international amateur sports organization. For more information about the 2009 NPC Southern States Competition please visit www.npcsouthernstates.com.

Opening Kristopher Benedict and Peter Labier – Citygarden and Microscope 5/9/09

citygarden
microscope
Gallery Diet is pleased to announce Citygarden and Microscope, a two-person exhibition by Kristopher Benedict and Peter LaBier.

“Given the sobering adjustments one might expect following the world financial collapse, several weeks ago, New York Times film critic A.O. Scott posed the question ‘What kind of movies do we need now?’ His answer? What the people really need is… neo-realism. … Neo realist films, like other forms of realist art and literature, gain a sense of expository justice in showing ordinary, often boring, deviant or sometimes abject images…”

For this exhibition, Benedict and LaBier have created a series of works that depict the mundane views, and objects of our everyday lives. In his extended exhibition text, Afterimages of the Everyday, Tom McGrath describes one of the title works, Microscope by saying, “It’s been a long time since science moved beyond what can be seen with the naked eye, and sometimes it feels like the artist got left behind in his studio with his brushes and a lousy microscope.”

In art, the desire to turn toward something like “realism” in painting might have less to do with reality, and more to do with resolving some very abstract problems in the everyday.

Citygarden and Microscope will be on view at Gallery Diet from May 9th – June 6th, 2009 and will be accompanied by an extensive text written by Tom McGrath from which the quotes for this press release were taken.

About Diet:
Located at 174 NW 23 Street in Miami, Florida Diet represents five emerging and mid-career artists. Diet’s artist roster includes Brian Burkhardt, Charley Friedman, Richard Höglund, Abby Manock, and Daniel Milewski, whose work is exhibited alongside that of an invitational series of exhibitions by artists from around the world.

David Castillo Gallery presents Gallery Projects 5/9/09

castillo
David Castillo Gallery: Gallery Projects
Alder Guerrier, Aramis Gutierrez, Quisqueya Henriquez, Susan Lee-Chun, Pepe Mar, Glexis Novoa, Javier Piñón, Leyden Rodriguez-Casanova, Frances Trombly, Wendy Wischer
David Castillo Gallery
2234 NW 2nd Avenue, Miami
May 9- July 31, 2009
Reception May 9, 7-10 pm

David Castillo Gallery is proud to present Gallery Projects, a group show of new work by gallery artists Adler Guerrier, Aramis Gutierrez, Quisqueya Henriquez, Susan Lee-Chun, Pepe Mar, Glexis Novoa, Javier Piñón, Leyden Rodriguez- Casanova, Frances Trombly, and Wendy Wischer.

Glexis Novoa continues to develop a meticulous architecture in the realm of socio-political inquiry with a site-specific drawing for Gallery Projects. Novoa establishes a conduit to Pepe Mar’s site- specific installation of twisted multicolor fantasy, as Orwellian in its penchant for escapism as the brutality of Novoa’s lilliputian detail.

Dwelling in Novoa’s cityscape and illuminated by Mar’s Technicolor is the loss of innocence apparent, too, in the slippery circumstance of Aramis Gutierrez’s new oil on canvas. In At the Water Park, a pregnant couple fumbles to recapture the woman’s missing swimsuit top. The moment is one of greater disconnect similar to the everyday instances of racial and ethnic discrepancy elevated by Adler Guerrier as a black flâneur in his new work on paper.

Startling juxtapositions also exist as the pedestal of 1950’s beauty is shifted in a sinister collaboration between beauty and monstrosity in Javier Piñón’s Medusa collages, while Quisqueya Henriquez’s collages play with the perceived heightened masculinity of Latin cultures by manipulating symbolic male images.

The simplicity of everyday objects is reassessed through subtle alterations in Leyden Rodriguez- Casanova’s mirrored frame. Frances Trombly examines quality and function through painstaking precision to create the optical illusion of a seemingly typical rope, while Wendy Wischer constructs nature through the delicate skill of utilizing manufactured materials to create a moment of organic serenity. Susan Lee-Chun’s Susersize continues the artist’s theme of redefinition in creating a sculpture referencing exercise equipment and warping standard attention to structure.

David Castillo Gallery is proud to announce its participation at VOLTA5 Art Fair in Basel, Switzerland, June 2009. It also recognizes Leyden Rodriguez- Casanova, a Cintas Fellowship Finalist; as well as Susan Lee-Chun’s acceptance to the artist residency Three Walls in Chicago. In the Fall 2009, work by Aramis Gutierrez, Pepe Mar, and Glexis Novoa will be included in TIME + TEMP: Surveying the shifting climate of current painting in South Florida at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, FL. Work by Quisqueya Henriquez, Pepe Mar, and Javier Piñón will appear in a book of 21st century collage published in London; and Adler Guerrier’s monograph will be released by Miami’s [NAME] publications. Gallery artists’ work in current exhibitions include Quisqueya Henriquez, Susan Lee-Chun, and Frances Trombly in With You I Want to Live: The Collection of Francie Bishop Good & David Horvitz at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale, FL and Wendy Wischer in Bit, Byte, Dot, Spot: Post-digital Art at the Tampa Museum of Art, FL.

This film is one of the reasons that Shirley Temple is still emblazoned in the minds of Americans today, as Bright Eyes is the film that first brought the song On the Good Ship Lollipop to Depression-era audiences across the country. (Although the song has nothing to do with a ship!) The film features a stand-out performance by Temple, in addition to superb character actors and a broad range of emotions. Shirley Temple’s work in this film earned her a special pint-sized Oscar®, and lasting fame as America’s sweetheart. Free admission.

Cintas Foundation Presents The 2009 William B. Warren Lifetime Achievement Award In Music Composition To Cuban Composer Aurelio De La Vega 5/20/09

CINTAS FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES THE 2009 WILLIAM B. WARREN LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD IN MUSIC COMPOSITION TO CUBAN COMPOSER AURELIO DE LA VEGA

The Cintas Foundation (www.cintasfoundation.org) will present the 2009 William B. Warren Lifetime Achievement Award in Music Composition to Cuban composer Aurelio de la Vega. The award is named after Cintas Foundation Chairman William B. Warren, who has led the foundation for the last 20 years as is its second president.

Aurelio de la Vega was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1925 and studied at the University of Havana (Ph.D. in Law), at the Conservatorio Ada Iglesias (Ph.D., Music Composition) and, independently, with Fritz Kramer (Havana) and Ernst Toch (Los Angeles). De la Vega settled in California in 1959 and became distinguished professor of Music and the director of the Electronic Music Studio at California State University, Northridge. His vast catalogue of works encompasses compositions in all media except opera. He has been very influential in the U.S. musical scene, promoting the contemporary classical music of Latin America. Throughout his teaching years and in the years since his retirement, de la Vega has been an active composer as well as a lecturer in the field of music. His list of compositions includes symphonic pieces, chamber music works, solo instrumental pieces, vocal works, piano, guitar and ballet music and electronic compositions. Major orchestras and prominent soloists throughout the world have performed his works. The composer has been the recipient of many prizes and distinctions, including the Friedheim Award of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which he has received twice. In 2000, de la Vega was honored by the Library of Congress when his graphic score, “The Magic Labyrinth,” was included in the library’s 733-page volume, “Music History from Primary Sources.” Among the music greats included with him were Bartók, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Gershwin, Handel, Liszt, Mahler, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Puccini, Stravinsky and Verdi.

“As one of the best known Cuban composers of his generation, Aurelio de la Vega offers a dramatic, intense and expressive musical style,” said Hortensia E. Sampedro, president of the Cintas Foundation in announcing the award. “We are pleased to recognize the Maestro for a career that spans more than 50 years and includes recognition from around the world and most recently a nomination for a Latin Grammy for Best Classical Contemporary Composition for his piece Variación del Recuerdo (Variations of a Memory)”.

The award will be presented at a ceremony at the Frost Art Museum of Florida International University on May 20, 2009 at 7:00 pm. The public is invited.

nopants
What in the world is No Pants Day?
No Pants Day is a day where everyone, be they students, respectable businessmen, or cherished community leaders, leave their pants behind. Usually this means wearing thick, appropriately modest boxer shorts, but bloomers, slips, briefs, and boxer-briefs all work as well.

Their website is a bit out of date!

ALLSTATE, BARTENDER’S SOCIETY, CABANA ONE, PRINT FARM & SOUTH FLORIDA BUSINESS JOURNAL PRESENT “GET CONNECTED”
~ South Florida’s Premier Gathering of Young Professionals ~

On Thursday, April 30th, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., members of South Florida’s leading networking organizations for young professionals will gather to celebrate the premier of “GET CONNECTED”, an event which offers young professionals a platform to network and build relationships in our community. The event will take place at Cabana One, Rooftop Bar at the Mayfair Hotel and Spa in Coconut Grove.

Participating in this year’s event will be the following groups:

v Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (BACCF) – is the largest bi-national chamber of the Americas in South Florida. With the mission to foster business relations and partnerships in order to increase trade and investments between the two regions, the BACCF is a dynamic organization that promotes and offers several activities and benefits, including luncheons with guest speakers, card-exchange events, networking opportunities, committees, business referrals, listings, special promotions, and much more. Our Brazilian-American Young Professionals Club fuses the diversity and livelihood of our local future business leaders and young entrepreneurs, seeking to engage the community in events such as the upcoming Young Pros Summit Event.

v Connect Florida – The first statewide organization of young professionals connecting Florida’s leaders in the 21 to 35 age range. The innovative new program, created by Leadership Florida, assists young professionals in making a positive impact on our state.

v Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce 20/30 Group – The 20/30 Group is a platform for emerging leaders within the Coral Gables Chamber to further develop their leadership and entrepreneurial skills, build their network, and contribute through philanthropic efforts.
v Coral Gables Rotaract Club – a nonprofit service club designed for young professionals and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Coral Gables. Coral Gables Rotaract is part of a global network of over 7,000 Rotaract clubs in about 163 countries, all centered on community service, international understanding, leadership training and professional development.
v Impact Circle of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami – Impact Circle is the fun, fabulous & philanthropic membership group of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Miami. Impact Circle is an exclusive group which provides access to unique events & interactive experiences to engage with other young, upscale members.
v Miami Children’s Museum – Founded in 1983, Miami Children’s Museum is dedicated to enriching the lives of all children by fostering a love of learning and enabling children to realize their highest potential. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to play together, learn, imagine and create.
v Ronald McDonald House of South Florida – the members of the young professional group of the Ronald McDonald House, located on the grounds of Jackson Memorial Hospital, work together to engage in the lives of families with sick children.

v United Way of Miami-Dade’s Young Leaders – a dynamic group of caring, generous, successful young professionals who have committed themselves to making our community the best it can be. By actively participating in volunteering, networking, personal and professional growth opportunities, Young Leaders are helping United Way make a lasting, positive impact in people’s lives and in our community. Today, over 1,600 Young Leaders representing a broad cross-section of Miami-Dade’s industries are involved, and the program continues to grow.
v Young Urban Professional Alumni (YUPA) – is a dynamic organization of Florida International University (FIU) graduates who are 39 years old or younger. YUPA provides a venue for young alumni to interact and network with each other for their professional/personal development. FIU has approximately 60,000 alumni who fit the South Florida YUPA criteria. The group was formed in 2006 and consists of young alumni professionals looking to advance in their careers and make the most out of life. This unique group stands apart and shares common interests that many young alumni have today. YUPA is open to FIU young alumni of all majors and every profession.

“This event certainly provides young professionals, like me, the opportunity to meet one-on-one to discuss the current state of our industries and discuss how we can collaborate to not only advance in our field but also help our community prosper,” noted Anthony Bayona, president of the Ronald McDonald House of Miami young professional group.

Young professionals in the South Florida community are urged to assist the first-ever GET CONNECTED event. This event is free of charge. A special thanks to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse Coral Gables and the Florida Marlins for their participation. NETHERLAND

Artist/ gallery curator David “Netherland” van Alphen lives and works in Chicago, Illinois. Though David’s family was from Holland, he was born in Toronto, and has been in Chicago for the last eight years. Being a child of the 70’s has influenced him greatly and is reflected in most of his work. Juxtaposing images, his color choices and the new modern context comes through his nostalgic imagery and helps to isolate and enhance them. David has shown at many galleries throughout the U.S. and sold out his first solo show last January.

KEN BERNSTEIN

As a baby boomer growing up in the suburbs of Miami, the majority of my childhood was spent in front of a television. I sat on the Florida room floor with a fold out TV tray and a bowl of Cap’n Crunch as the only separation between myself and the television screen. My eye sockets were black holes providing the portal for the right side of my brain to absorb all energy and matter produced by the flicker fusion television transmission of Outer Limits, Adams Family, Star Trek, Man from Uncle, Invaders, Shindig, Batman, 77 Sunset Strip, Time Tunnel, Lost in Space and all the other cult status programing.

Due to long term exposure of the Television’s electro magnetic radiation, I mutated into a robotic space probe. The Voyager 1 of POP, speeding in a solar wind through interstellar space to gather information on popular culture.

Fortunately, I have some ability to translate my information to canvas utilizing the brilliant vivid colors of acrylics, so others can see and feel what I see and feel.

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County welcomed Miami resident Toya LaRenn as its one-millionth patron at the April 16, 2009 performance by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Adrienne Arsht Center For The Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County Introduces Its One-Millionth Patron To South Florida
millionth
Miami resident Toya LaRenn made Miami history on April 16, 2009 when she became the one-millionth patron to visit the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. Upon entering the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House for that evening’s performance by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ms. LaRenn was notified of this milestone and invited to join M. John Richard, President and CEO of the Adrienne Arsht Center, in upgraded seats. She was also awarded a Supporting Level membership to the Adrienne Arsht Center and a subscription to the 2009-2010 RRA-Broadway Across America Miami series.
On April 20, Ms. LaRenn was introduced to the community during a special luncheon to announce the upcoming RRA-Broadway Across America series. Mr. Richard presented Ms. LaRenn with an oversized ticket commemorating her as the Center’s one-millionth guest.
“To think that we have welcomed one million people in such a short span speaks to the Adrienne Arsht Center’s extraordinary reach and broad-based community support,” said Mr. Richard. “Going forward, we are committed to driving new audiences to our diverse programs and events so as to unite South Florida through the performing arts. That
community spirit is what this Center was built for, and it’s what will drive our next million patrons through our doors.”
Guests at the April 20th event were treated to a surprise performance by Montego Glover, who previously starred in the Broadway production of the hit musical The Color Purple. The luncheon also featured a sneak-preview of the 2009-2010 RRA-Broadway Across America Miami season, which will feature The Color Purple, October 27-November 1, 2009; 101 Dalmatians, December 30, 2009-January 3, 2010; Wicked, March 3-21, 2010; Mamma Mia!, March 30-April 4, 2010; and Spring Awakening, May 11-16, 2010. In addition to these hit musicals, the season will also include The Walworth Farce (November 4-7, 2009) and a dynamic performance by Broadway icon Brian Stokes Mitchell (December 12, 2009).

Miami Downtown Development Authority and the City of Miami Celebrate the Re-Opening of Paul S. Walker Park 4/28/09

Tuesday, April 28th @ 10:00 a.m.

Miami Downtown Development Authority and the City of Miami Celebrate the Re-Opening of Paul S. Walker Park
Three New ‘Pocket Parks’ Make Downtown More Pedestrian-Friendly and Enhance Livability

image010

WHAT: Miami Downtown Development Authority and the City of Miami hold dedication ceremony in celebration of Downtown’s newest green space, Paul S. Walker Urbanscape.

The re-opening of Paul S. Walker Urbanscape marks the culmination of three new “pocket parks” in Downtown’s Central Business District, which are part of the DDA’s larger beautification program to create a more pedestrian-friendly environment and improve the quality of life in Downtown.

The DDA invested more than $350,000 to restore these parks, introducing approximately 23,000 sq. ft. of green space into Downtown.

Immediately following the dedication, on-site samplings by neighboring restaurants will take place at Paul S. Walker Park. Entertainment and live music performances at each of the three new mini parks will liven up the lunch hour for all to enjoy.

WHO: Remarks will be made by Mayor Manny Diaz, Commissioner Joe Sanchez, Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, City Manager Pete Hernandez, and Miami DDA Executive Director Alyce Robertson, who will all speak to the impact that creating more green spaces will have to enhance the livability in Downtown.

WHEN: Tuesday, April 28th – Dedication Ceremony at Paul S. Walker Urbanscape @ 10 a.m.
Music and entertainment at all three parks until 1:30 p.m. (all within walking distance; map embedded below)

map

WHERE: Paul S. Walker Urbanscape (46 W. Flagler St.)
Thirty years ago, the original park space (named after former DDA board member and community leader) was leased by the City and replaced with a building that since became rundown and dilapidated.

Joan Lehman Sculpture Plaza (Flagler St. at SW 1st Ave)
Previously closed off to the public, the Joan Lehman Sculpture Plaza now features enhanced pedestrian access with park benches, meandering pathways, and newly planted trees.

Robert F. Clark Plaza (NW 1st Avenue and NW 1st Street)
Also once removed from the public right-of-way, this pocket park was restored and enhanced with pedestrian-friendly features.

“Parlez-vous français ?” Cabaret-Concert by French Artist Frederic STROUCK 5/1/09

cocert1ermai

“Parlez-vous français ?”
Cabaret-Concert by French Artist Frederic STROUCK
The incredible adventure of a French teacher who decided to go and live his american dream. The evolution of his teenage point of view make him face today’s US reality … The tone is very humoristic and the show is based on a recital of French tunes that became worldwide hits (My way, Beyond the sea, What now my love, where do I begin, …)

General Admission: $15 / $10 for members

Frédéric Strouck’s career has been far from typical. After studying science and armed with a passion for lighting design, he began by studying cinema in view of becoming a director of photography. Simultaneously, he taught himself the piano and started composing his first songs. Increasingly interested by the relationship between music and dramatic art and the use of music in film and opera, the works of composers including Stephen Sondheim and Claude-Michel Schönberg inevitably led him to what was to become a passion for musical theatre.

Encouraged by a friend and never having considered himself as a singer, Frédéric auditioned for the 1996 production of FAME, played the part of Nick Piazza and went on to perform in shows including: PIAF JE T’AIME, HAIR, the German production of LES MISERABLES and spent five years with Jerome Savary’s company at the Opera Comique. During this time, he continued his career as a composer, writing various jingles and theme-tunes and in 2000, was commissioned by Pascal Pistone to orchestrate his contemporary musical PETER. With co-author Grégory Blot-Rudolph, he began to write and their first musical LES 7 PECHES CAPTEAUX based on a concept of song parodies in a super-market, was performed at the Gymnase Marie Bell theatre, Paris in May 2004. Following interest from television companies, Frédéric and Gregory were soon invited to adapt the show into what became SOAPERETTE, a series of short musical programs that were to invent a new kind of “fictional-variety” show! Directed by Gilles Amado, the series was aired on FOX-Life, NRJ12 and PLUG-RTL in 2007 and 2008. Working as actor, author and musical director on the show not only furthered Frédéric’s already multi-facetted career but also led to him being asked to direct Marie Orlandi’s performance as Piaf at the Olympia Theatre, Paris in July 2007.

Invitation to a Relay event this Friday 4/24/09

Can you please forward this to all your friends? This is for a Relay in West Kendall, is this Friday.

Check it out, the committee is made of about a dozen High School Kids (I worked with them) they have worked really really hard for the past six months on this event (even when they have final exams & fcats soon and they are doing an amazing job with this event).

I want to invite people to go and support them. Walk a lap with them and check out the Luminaria Ceremony (there they’ll light candles for those that lost their fight and those that survived this decease) and show them how important is to help out in the community and to support each other.

Why do I Relay?
I participate in Relay For Life because i have lost my grandfather in December 2008 from brain cancer after fighting other types of cancers for 6 years.
I relay because family friends were not able to fight the battle.
I relay because i don’t want to lose anymore loved ones.
I relay because i have friends who have lost loved ones.
I relay because i have friends with family who are currently battling cancer.
I relay because i know people who are currently fighting cancer.
I relay because i want to find the cure.
I relay because i care.
I relay because i am tired of having cancer take over innocent lives.
I relay because i need to spread the word.

We, the lakes of the meadow committee, relay because we want to play our part in fighting cancer, we want to make an event where we can promote awareness.

In the U.S men have a slightly less than a 1 in 2 lifetime risk of developing cancer: for women, the risk is a little more than 1 in 3. An average of 1.4 million people are diagnosed with cancer YEARLY, and statistics raise yearly. Florida is the second state with the largest amount of people diagnosed with cancer, at about 106,560 people yearly. so please come out to: LAKES OF THE MEADOW RELAY FOR LIFE !
located at 4450 S.W. 152 AVENUE (Bird & 152 Ave – Lakes of the Meadow Club House)
on APRIL 24TH – 25TH from 6PM TO 6AM
Overnight events symbolize:
-Cancer Never Stops.
-When a person is diagnosed with Cancer, their world crashes, it turns dark.
But then they find hope, which is when the sunrises.
The event is very symbolic, and surprisingly enough, very actively fun.
Please don’t hesitate to ask me or the LOTM committee any questions.
Visit our website: www.relayforlife.org/lakesofthemeadowfl
Join a team, create a team, donate or sign up as a volunteer and attend the event.
Participate for those you’ve lost to cancer, Participate because you care.
Please & Thank you,
-Bibiana Potestad
Team Development Chair and a Volunteer helping FIGHT Cancer.

Kyle Crossland

Kyle CrosslandÕs music has recently been drawing the attention of students from the University of Miami. As a student singer-songwriter from the university, KyleÕs acoustic-rock style has been compared to that of John Mayer and Jack Johnson. His energetic performances and catchy up-beat songs are almost magnetic to whoever happens to be listening. From a young age, Kyle knew that somehow his life needed to incorporate music. He has been singing for as long as he can remember, and growing-up he idolized artists like James Taylor and the Beach Boys. His love for singing brought him to Dr. Phiillips a Magnet High School which focused on choral studies. It was in his junior year of high school when Kyle first picked up a guitar and started writing songs.

The KeyRats, Key Biscayne`s finest
On December 31, 2003, The Keyrats had been commissioned to play for a crowd approaching 1,000 people from the balcony of a Key Biscayne residence overlooking the Miami bay. The performance was a success, and shortly thereafter The Keyrats began receiving phone calls from local promoters interested in booking the band. Since then, The Keyrats have played at multiple popular venues in Miami including Oxygen Lounge, Bolero, Honey, Bayside Hut, Transit Lounge, Flavour, Grove Isle, CefaloÕs and the University of Miami. Other notable venues include Jewells, Boardwalk Tavern, B.E.D., and MiamiÕs Mega Club, Mansion. The Keyrats have evolved into a dynamic four piece band consisting of drums, bass, guitars and two vocalists. On some nights they even feature special guests on the keyboard, timbales, saxophone, and a trombone/Trumpet horn section.

You better check their website for more information

Third time was the charm for North Carolina native Adam Fields at Board Up™ Miami, South Florida’s premiere wakeboard festival April 23-25, 2009 in Miami, FL. In a mild upset with an exciting finish, amid mildly windy condition, Fields bested the final field of 10 professional and amateur riders to win the men’s crown at the fourth annual wakeboard festival. Over 60 amateur riders entered the pro-am competition itching for a chance to take on nearly 20 pro men and women wakeboarders and a chance at a combined prize purse of over $10,000.

An international group of riders that featured three Aussies and two Kiwis (from New Zealand) provided excitement from the preliminaries, including Daniel Watkins, who finished fourth, but closed out his opening round ride with a rail slide along the starting dock, and move that wasn’t scored, but certainly thrilled the crowd.

A crowd of 4,000 witnessed the final runs on both the pro men and pro women side, with the final results featuring Adam Fields as champion in his third appearance at the event defeating Dean Smith (2nd overall), and Jeff Weatherall (3rd overall). On the women’s side, as was expected, it was a case of sibling rivalry, just like tennis has the Williams’ sisters consistently vying for titles, wakeboarding has the Hoffman’s, and at this year’s Board Up™ Miami, big sister Raequel still had a few more tricks than her younger sibling Shawna who finished . Tennessee native Corrie Dyer finished 3rd.

Inclusive of this year’s festival was a nearly 4,000 square foot skate park that featured the Assailant and Amaxon Clothing best trick contest where Miami local D’Andre Pendergrass took home the $500 cash prize.

The festival atmosphere was in full effect with live musical performances by Kyle Crossland, The Key Rats, Streetkind, and headliner Araka, all of whom rocked the crowd. There was certainly some dazzle with two swim suit fashion shows that featured the girls from The House of Jackie Brown, and the girls of microkitten.com, me-ow!

For the participant sporting event enthusiast, Saturday morning kicked off the day with the Nike Swim Miami, an open water swimming competition that had over 700 athletes competing in a 10K (the swim marathon), 5K, and mile swim that saw among others, multiple time USA Olympian and 8-time Olympic medalist Gary Hall Jr compete in the mile. Israeli National Team Member, Michael Demetriev was the overall 10K swim champion in a blazing time of 2 hours and 2 minutes.

For additional information and complete results visit the event website @ www.boardup.net (for wakeboarding) and www.miamisportsinternational.com (for the open water swim)

His music is inspired in Arab and Andalusia poetry and music. By creating a group piece of choreography the children learn new movement and work in groups.
CCEMiami continues with CHICLE, a series of monthly children’s programming taking place the last Saturday of every month at 11 AM that offers a great variety of cultural and interactive events in Spanish to create a forum where children learn and have fun. ART / ARTE
Cremata Gallery
The gallery presents an exhibition by artist Juan “Erman” Gonzalez, (Cuba, 1956) titled “Paraiso Fabricado”. A multi media artist whose series based, theme driven works are rooted in migration and informed by family. There is no celebration of freedom or The American Dream inherent in the forms. Instead, there’s an intentional study to analyze history, displacement, and trans- culture resulting from exile. The process is utilitarian and akin to traditional art forms like sewing and object making. Erman operates from a different ethos comparable to techniques of collage and assemblage long thought to echo and materialize remembrance. His works form part of the permanent collection of the Miami Art Museum and many private collections such as Carl and Toni Randolph’s and Craig Robbins’. He has been the invited guest lecturer of Edna Manley College in Jamaica, FIT in NYC and Colorado State University among others. Erman’s work has been exhibited widely throughout the Caribbean, Brazil and nationally, most recently at Lincoln Center in Colorado and Arteamericas in Miami Beach. Come to the gallery on Viernes Culturales to have a glass of wine, see his latest work and meet the artist. Exhibition runs through May 16th. Conde Naste Traveller online: Miami goes Cuckoo for CuCu:
” As if you ever needed an excuse to head to Miami. Well, just in case, you’ll have the perfect pretext tomorrow when a handful of groovy international artists pops into town for the Heineken Transatlantic Festival. The three-week extravaganza culminates on April 25 with maybe the oddest, and coolest, double bill I’ve ever heard of: The acclaimed, berobed-and-turbaned Tuareg band Tinariwen from Mali and vampy Cuban firecracker Cucu Diamantes. Longtime front woman for the funky Latin urban collective Yerba Buena, CuCu just released her debut solo album Cuculand. She owned downtown New York at her recent launch party at the Bowery Ballroom, a carnivalesque affair complete with contortionists, a midget emcee, and a bold brass section.

Visit CuCu Diamantes online
CuCu Diamanates’s solo project, with legendary producer, composer and musician Andres Levin on guitar, builds on the sound of Yerba Buena, the band that redefined Latin Groove. The New York Times hailed the group as “one of New York’s best new dance bands, mixing up the Latin boogaloo of the 60’s, Cuban religious music, some American soul and Fela-like Afrobeat.” CuCu brings similar energy to her new solo project, combing jazz savvy and vintage glamour with the sly grit of New York, a touch of cabaret, and the pulse of Afro-Cuban beats.

Visit Tinariwen online
“Tinariwen capture …Keith Richards, Ry Cooder and Ali Farka Toure picking side by side under an unforgiving sun.” – Rolling Stone. “The Clash of the desert,” Tinariwen are nomadic Touareg guitar-poets from Mali’s southern Sahara. Their music carries the message of freedom and resistance among their people, and formed the soundtrack to the 1990 Touareg rebellions in Mali and Niger. Their sound is traditional tribal melodies transposed to electric guitar, mixed with blues, rock, pop, Berber and Arabic influences – a modern desert rock. Tinariwen have won countless awards for Best CD of the Year in polls around the world and a prestigious BBC Award for World Music. They also co-founded the seminal Festival in the Desert in 2001 in Timbuktu. They are visiting Miami Beach after Coachella Festival.

See you there!

The Heineken TransAtlantic Festival is presented with support from Heineken USA, Club Med, American Airlines, Pasha’s Restaurants, Atlantic Broadband, Business Centers International, North Beach Bandshell Trust, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, City of Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, Miami Dade Department of Cultural Affairs.

SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS
On June 27, 2007, 23-year-old Captain Barrington Irving, who was born in Kingston, Jamaica and brought up in inner-city Miami, secured his place in history as the youngest person and first black pilot to fly solo around the globe.
On his 97-day journey, he flew 30,000 miles in a single-engine aircraft called Inspiration, encountering thunderstorms,
snow storms, icing, sand storms and monsoons along the way. His purpose in making the trip was to show other youth that if he could achieve his dream, they can too. In February, 2007 on Capitol Hill, Barrington was presented with a Congressional Resolution honoring his achievement and acknowledging his pioneering work in the field of aviation education. Two months later, the Florida State Senate awarded him their highest honor, the Medallion of Excellence.

Christopher L. “Chris” Smith was elected to the Florida Senate in 2008, for District 29 which encompasses a variety of cities spanning Broward and Palm Beach counties. Previously, he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives for District 93 in Broward from 1998-2006, including serving as the Democratic House leader form 2004-2006. He led the charge to reform the elections process in Florida after the Election of 2000. He helped author the election reform bill that is now law in Florida and is being used as a model nationwide. A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Chris was appointed as the youngest member of the City’s Planning Zoning Board in 1995, the same year he received his J.D. degree from Florida State. He spent his formative years actively involved in many youth organizations including the Fort Lauderdale Branch of the National Association For The Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Youth Council, ascending to the position of president.

Clarence E. Anthony, a native Floridian, served as Mayor of South Bay, Florida, from 1984 to March 2008. “Everything is in place for one of the more successful, star-studded and meritorious group of honorees since the Field of Dreams began. This promises to be one of the premiere events of the season. Now part of the Orange Bowl Committee’s 75 year legacy, our Field of Dreams offers a can’t miss night of entertainment, recognition and the generous spirit of South Florida,” comments Antonia “Toni” Williams-Gary, Co Chair of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida Orange Bowl Field of Dreams Committee.

The Field of Dreams Scholarship Benefit is an annual Orange Bowl Committee event with a purpose of providing college scholarship funding for deserving high school seniors. The program has awarded individual scholarships, and contributed over $300,000 for African-American scholarships to organizations such as the Tom Joyner Foundation, The Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund, Florida Memorial University’s Athletic Scholarship Fund and the UNCF.

Next Friday MiamiBusiness.com Conference 4/24/09

April 24th, 2009, 7:15am – 9:00am

It’s that time again where all the b2b groups meet once a month at Nova Southeastern University in Kendall. This month’s event is sponsored by Eddie Rivero, Chaplain for the Miami-Dade Police Department. Our special guest speaker is Ricardo Forbes from Baptist Health South Florida.

What is MiamiBusiness.com?
Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. Author: Eleanor Roosevelt

Great minds discuss ideas! That is what Miami Business.com is all about. The B2B group concept is a vibrant group of seasoned professionals and innovative thinkers, composed of a few select members in the Miami-Dade County area. While only one person per business category can join per city, it will eventually encourage one to build closer business relationships within our network.
We have a simple formula! Every member will share their ideas and vision from their perspective industries on a weekly basis. Each member will have a chance to interact and share opinions as well. Our city wide business groups will meet once a week to collaborate and share ideas enhancing our knowledge in the different fields .This weekly process will naturally increase the ability to conduct business with each other.

Once a month, all the B2B members from all the cities combine to form MiamiBusiness.com. This monthly conference is very energetic, since all the members get to share their “Tip of the Month”. This event gives us the true meaning of “Sharing Ideas”!

If you feel that you are a “Forward Thinking” individual, someone that is visionary and entrepreneurial, a mover and shaker in the Miami area, then you would benefit from being a part of this exclusive group.

We have several cities already in motion and several are currently brewing up. This year we will be offering the charter rate of $150 to join, while in 2010, the rate will increase.

After show party with DJ Da Lua (Bossacucanova) at Boteco

The Budos Band are an 11-member big band, a majestic sonic groove of Afrobeat, Ethiopian jazz, funk and 1960s Stax-era soul. The core of the band met as youths while participating in an after-school jazz ensemble in Staten Island. Late night ferry rides into Manhatta, led to the back door of the No Moore Club downtown, packed with James Brown fanatics and Fela Kuti disciples. They fell hard for bands like Antibalas, the Sugarman Three, and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings and knew this was their new musical direction. After meeting resistance from the band director, they recruited a few more horn players and formed their own band. With the 2005 release of their self-titled debut album, the Budos Band officially joined the ranks of the Daptone Family and began to perform frequently as part of the Daptone Soul Revue, alongside the very acts that had inspired them only a few years before.

Javier Garcia creates “a musical narrative for Miami as sweet as kissing your honey on the beach to a swaying reggae beat, as danceable as a 3 a.m. Cuban jam session.” Born in Spain to a Cuban father and an Irish mother, Javier started playing the guitar at 12 years old. The Franciscan headmaster at his high school in Ireland told him that although he loved hearing his music in the school halls, he would be better suited in another school. So he moved with his father in Miami and fully delved into Cuban Miami music and life. His first CD achieved gold sales and set up young Javier as a Latin pop star. But he delved more into music roots, and began to work with top collaborators on a follow-up, finding greater musical freedom and maturity: multi-Grammy award winning producer Gustavo Santaolalla, drummer Abe Laboriel Jr (from Paul McCartney’s band), living batá treasure Francisco Aguabella and others. His sound is a diverse fusion of Cuban music with rock, hip-hop, ska, funk, reggae, anchored by his talents as a composer, arrange, guitar and percussion player and gifted singer.

DJ Marcelino Da Lua is one third of the ground-breaking Rio de Janeiro-based team Bossacucanova. Second-generation bossa novans, they have taken the iconic music of their fathers and made it new yet again with the addition of breakbeats and electronica. As a DJ, Da Lua lets loose with a mix of Brazilan, hiphop, reggae and electic sounds. The After Show party at Boteco is free and open to the public.

Film Synopsis
Lucia Puenzo quickly made a name for herself with her debut film XXY, a haunting and beautiful story about an intersex boy finding his way through adolescence and a society that doesn’t understand him, and finding love and affection along the way.

In her newest film El Niño Pez (The Fish Child), Puenzo proves she is no one hit wonder as she delivers a film that is a sexy and captivating romantic thriller, set in the world of outdated class systems and rampant political corruption in modern day Argentina.

Lala is the daughter of a wealthy and powerful judge in Buenos Aires. Ailin is the family’s maid, whom Lala has harbored feelings for since her early youth. Their friendship soon develops into a torrid and secret affair, and they develop plans to leave the Argentinean capital for Ailin’s native Paraguay. When Lala’s father suddenly dies, Ailin becomes the primary suspect and is imprisoned for the crime. It is now up to Lala to free her lover if their dream is to become a reality. What follows is a story of suspense, intrigue, and determination.

Featuring an amazing cast, helmed by the beautiful and talented Ines Efron and Mariela Vitale, El Niño Pez is an engaging thriller that is undoubtedly the year?s most powerful lesbian film. In Spanish with English subtitles.

Miami Theatrical Premiere!
Wendy and Lucy
Directed by Kelly Reichardt/USA/2009
With Michelle Williams
wendyandlucyposter
Wendy Carroll is driving to Ketchikan, Alaska, in hopes of a summer of lucrative work at the Northwestern Fish cannery, and the start of a new life with her dog, Lucy. When her car breaks down in Oregon, however, the thin fabric of her financial situation comes apart, and she confronts a series of increasingly dire economic decisions, with far-ranging repercussions for herself and Lucy. Wendy and Lucy addresses issues of sympathy and generosity at the edges of American life, revealing the limits and depths of people’s duty to each other in tough time.
“A PITCH PERFECT TRIUMPH!—Manohla Dargis, New York Times
“What may emerge as THE BEST PERFORMANCE of the YEAR!”—Film Comment
“What will happen to her? The strength of this short, simple, perfect story of a young woman and her dog is that this does not seem, by the end, to be an idle or trivial question. What happens to Wendy — and to Lucy — matters a lot, which is to say that Wendy and Lucy, for all its modesty, matters a lot too.”–A.O. Scott New York Times

Examined Life
Examined Life pulls philosophy out of academic journals and classrooms, and puts it back on the streets…

Featuring Cornel West, Peter Singer, Kwarne Anthony Appiah, Michael Hardt, Slavoj Zizek, Judith Butler and Sunaura Taylor
examinedlifeposter
In Examined Life, filmmaker Astra Taylor accompanies some of today’s most influential thinkers on a series of unique excursions through places and spaces that hold particular resonance for them and their ideas. Slavoj Zizek questions current beliefs about the environment while sifting through a garbage dump. Judith Butler and a friend stroll through San Francisco’s Mission District questioning our culture’s fixation on individualism. And while driving through Manhattan, Cornel West—perhaps America’s best-known public intellectual—compares philosophy to jazz and blues, reminding us how intense and invigorating a life of the mind can be. Offering privileged moments with great thinkers, Examined Life reveals philosophy’s power to transform the way we see the world around us and imagine our place in it.

CS Gallery is proud to announce the opening of “STABBING HATE,” their new SOLO exhibition by visual artist R. E. SANCHEZ. This exhibition focuses on two series of work created between 2005 and 2007. The first series titled Stabbed In The Back: “Has Never Been In Love” Series details works created on paper and mixed media based on ideas of first introductions, loss of love, façades, the unknown and the presented vs. reality. These artworks in many aspects are very general statements about contemporary society.

The second series titled Terrorism Is A Friendly Reminder Of How Much We All Love Each Other: is created using the maps of some of the countries that have been victims of contemporary terrorist attacks. Black wax and blood red acrylic are very significant for they represent chaos, turmoil and the bloodshed caused by these attacks. These works call to question the ability of humans to interact and understand each other on multiple levels.

R. E. SANCHEZ is a Miami-based artist whose work has been exhibited regularly in non-profit organizations and gallery venues. He is a Salvadoran expatriate who in 1989 relocated to the U.S. to pursue his passion for art. He received his Bachelor of Art (BFA) from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2000. He is the current Art Director for Life Is Art, a non-profit organization dedicated to promote and support the artistic and creative communities in Miami and beyond.

Since 1994 he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally. In 2000 he was part of a very prestigious show for Artlink@Sothebys that traveled through Chicago Illinois, Vienna Austria and Tel Aviv Israel.

Most recently his work has been exhibited as part of juried shows which have included The Hibiscus 1st Juried Art Exhibition at The Lighthouse Center for the Arts in Tequesta Florida, 20 x 20 x 20 A National Compact Competition at Louisiana State University’s Union Art Gallery in Baton Rouge Louisiana, The Blanche Ames National Juried Exhibition at The Ames Mansion at Borderland State Park in North Easton Massachusetts and Field of Vision: Beijing at the Beijing New Art Projects in Beijing China. Co hosted by Ocean Drive Magazine the grand opening of River Lounge plans to be a spectacular affair that will leave guests dazzled as River Lounge is ramping up to be Downtown Miami’s go to spot. Guests at the River Lounge grand opening sponsored by Patron Tequila, Johnny Walker Black, and Ultra Vodka can expect an evening filled with VIPs, cocktails, and music by DJ Walter Capote. The evening will include a formal ribbon cutting ceremony including Mayor Manny Diaz, celebrities including: Adriana Catano, Nicolas Felizola, Liset Alea, Carlos A. Navarro, Natalia de La Cruz, Tito Puente Jr, Karol Rosa, Jorge Moreno and many more. River Lounge plans to take the Miami nightlife scene by storm. The VIP/media reception is from 7-9pm but guests will enjoy past that time as the venue will host South Florida’s most active professionals and A-listers.

The brainchild of Sunset Entertainment Group’s dynamic duo Chris Breed and Michael Gruber, it’s no doubt that River Lounge will be one of Miami’s A-list favorites. The gentlemen have been recognized for such successful and legendary venues as The Tropicana and Teddy’s at the Roosevelt Hotel, Cabana Club, Sterling Steakhouse, Green Door, and the White Lotus to name a few. Breed, who was called the “King of Hollywood” by the Los Angeles Times, came into the scene in 1990, when he opened the Roxbury Supper Club. The venture has been credited with sparking the “Renaissance of Hollywood”. Collectively, Breed and Gruber (who has an extensive history representing some of the world’s biggest stars), bring to Miami their expertise dealing with high-end clientele and celebs from all over the map, topped with a dose of “Big Apple” flare. This unique combination will make this venue stand out as a classy one.

River Lounge will feature a unique cocktail list including a one-of-a kind signature martini list. Complete with delicious bites, great music, surrounded by beauty, River Lounge will set a new standard in Miami. Conveniently located on the mainland, away from South Beach, this visually-captivating space will cater to the active professional, corporate and social scene. River Lounge, with all its amenities, flawless décor, seasoned staff, and regarded ownership will be synonymous with “Miami” and a “fabulously good time”.

The grand opening for River Lounge will take place, Thursday, April 23rd, and will be co- presented by Ocean Drive Magazine. Guests can expect an evening filled with VIPs, celebrities, cocktails, and music as River Lounge plans to take the Miami nightlife scene by storm.

River Lounge is located inside the Epic Hotel & Residences located at 270 Biscayne Boulevard Way, Miami, FL 33131. The venue will be open six days a week. For RSVP: UPDATE – LIST IS NOW CLOSED
