CHANGE OF SUBJECT
Change of presenter and topic for tomorrow’s SeminArt for writers. We are grateful to Marsha Sims, who will give the presentation “How to Market Your Book,” in place of Sandra Beasley and Shannon O’Neill who can’t travel from DC due to weather conditions to present “Launching Your Writing Career.” Look out for announcements for “Launching Your Writing Career” rescheduled for May 20, 2010. We hope that you will join us tomorrow night for “How to Market Your Book!”
This SeminArt is a unique opportunity for emerging writers of all types to get the inside scoop on Launching Your Writing Career from the perspective of literary agent Shannon O’Neill, and author Sandra Beasley. An experienced literary agent, Shannon will discuss how to find an agent, what agents do, and how to know if you have a good agent. She will also give tips on ensuring a successful meeting with an editor, such as what to include in a pitch and book proposal. Sandra will share her experience as an author who works in different genres, and provide advice on how to take advantage of the variety of opportunities open to writers who are versatile.
Presenters will be available for specific questions at the end of the program. Stick around to meet other artists, writers and community leaders. LegalArt SeminArts are great networking opportunities!

MIAMI BEACH COUNTS ON SUPER BOWL TO BRING OUT THE ‘25/7’ IN LOCALS AND TOURISTS
‘Miami Beach 25/7’ Marketing Initiative Includes Photo Contest, Roving Cheerleaders and Virtual Postcards
MIAMI BEACH, FL (Jan. 29, 2010) – With the eyes of the nation focused on Super Bowl XLIV Feb. 7, the City of Miami Beach is reaching out with a new message to residents and visitors, and especially to the thousands of media personnel covering the game: “Miami Beach 25/7. Shop. Dine. Stay. Play. Discover. There’s so much to do you’ll need the extra hour.â€
“Using social media, guerilla marketing and technological toys, our objective is to communicate that Miami Beach offers more than meets the eye,†said Miami Beach City Manager Jorge Gonzalez. “There simply is no other city in the country that offers such an exciting destination to shop designer boutiques, dine in five-star restaurants, stay in world-class hotels, play in über-chic clubs and discover sophisticated galleries, museums and theaters as we do here. You truly do need a 25-hour day to experience it all.â€
The City has created a Miami Beach 25/7 Facebook fan page photo contest in search of the best way to spend that extra hour during Super Bowl week. Facebook fans are invited to upload their favorite “25/7 Moment†and the winner will receive a two-night stay and two complimentary spa treatments at the Shore Club South Beach.
In addition, roving Miami Beach cheerleaders will pose for pictures and pass out Miami Beach 25/7 energy drinks, while encouraging people to enter the photo contest as part of an unforgettable week of Super Bowl fun. A Miami Beach 25/7 Twitter page has been created to let followers know where the cheerleaders will be stationed throughout the weekend.
Meanwhile, members of the media can send a virtual “Greetings from Miami Beach†postcard directly from the beach during the Feb. 2 media welcome party hosted by the South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee. Stepping in front of a “green screen†superimposed with a night shot of South Beach, guests will be photographed on a Miami Beach-branded Vespa as if they are cruising down Ocean Drive. Guests will receive an email link to their e-postcard, which can be sent virally and posted anywhere in the Internet universe.
The City of Miami Beach again partnered with Treister Murry Agency Public Relations & Marketing and Cre8tiv Juice Group to develop the communications, design and brand strategy, which aims to emphasize how Miami Beach is a city that competes in the world marketplace with its cuisine, cultural offerings, business opportunities, high-end shopping and recreational amenities that extend beyond its beautiful beaches and wonderful weather. Additional marketing and public relations initiatives will be rolled out during key special events throughout the year to emphasize the Miami Beach brand.
All the details of this latest marketing are available at www.MiamiBeach25-7.com.

Choreography by Villella
As his life unfolds, a man strives to master the complexities of the human Dance of Life. When we first encounter him, he is a gifted, 17 year old aspiring Poet. We follow the Poet through the stages of his life, with its ever-changing rhythms, until he reaches his sixties – a time when he must look back and reflect upon the life he has made for himself.
At each stage of his life, while confronting some very human temptations, the Poet must choose: between love and sexual desire, intoxication and lucidity, and his art and material success. Following in the long, romanticized tradition of artists and their self-destructive attraction to alcohol and drugs, the Poet, seduced by both throughout his life, loses the muse of his art and the possibility of genuine love. The Poet’s destiny and own Dance of Life are set in motion in the Prologue, when we hear the French poet Charles Baudelaire’s exhortation about life: “One must be intoxicated always … With wine, poetry, or with virtue, your choice. But intoxicate yourself.†In the end, it is the Poet’s character, as manifested by a lifetime’s accumulation of choices, that determines his destiny.
Set in a neighborhood ballroom in New York, the ballet begins in the late Belle Epoque with the Boston Waltz and continues through the Jazz Age with the Quick Step, Charleston, Castle Walk and Maxixe, the 1940s war years with their Fox Trot and Lindy Hop and the 1950s with its Mambo.

A performance of ONE NIGHT STAND is the ideal party for a girls night out, a birthday, or a bachlorette party. Bring the office and celebrate the end of the week! Bring your sisters and cousins and celebrate the family! Bring yourself wearing a sexy new pair of heels and celebrate your divorce! MIAMI’S HOTTEST GIRLS NIGHT OUT is cause for celebration!
Ladies. It’s finally raining men in Miami, and they are hot!
Don’t bother bringing your umbrella to Cameo Nightclub in South Beach on Saturday nights. Because you’ll want to soak up all the atmosphere.
The genius behind The “ultra hip” Opium Group and the director of the international interactive Off Broadway hit “Tony N’ Tina’s Wedding” have created the ultimate experience for gals who love a good time – One Night Stand, Miami’s Hottest Girls Night Out.
This isn’t an ordinary theatre experience and you won’t be sitting down for long. The evening begins with some drinking and dancing until the Drag Queen Emcee introduces you to some chiseled hunks who know how to shake their moneymakers. They’ll hold your hand (and maybe some other parts if your lucky) through outrageous games, including a “fake orgasm contest” and a “lap dance contest” … and if your up to it – there are poles for pole dancing!
Whether you’re a bride to be or not, you’re gonna party like the ultimate bachelorette so wear your slinkiest nightclub attire. Perhaps you can take back some evidence of the glorious evening but be sure to hide it from your significant other.
Consider it our little secret!

CHARLEY FRIEDMAN MAGICAL POWERS
OPEN TILL 8PM
Read what the Press is saying about Charley Friedman’s exhibition Magical Powers.
Charley Friedman
Wizard of Art
Carlos Suarez De Jesus
Wynwood’s eclectic Gallery Diet (174 NW 23rd St., Miami) and Charley Friedman’s quixotic vision will whisk you away to a whimsical wonderland. “Magical Powers,†Friedman’s second solo show at the always-surprising space, features a mixed-media buffet of seductive offerings that incite a belly roll.
On one wall, a plush hand fires a jellybean-colored cascade of space rays toward the heavens. In the center of the gallery, a slowly dripping fountain, confected from a kiddie pool and natural sponges, fills the air with the soothing murmur of a slow-mo waterfall. The startled mugs of a cow and tortoise gawk bemusedly at passersby. And a giant orange beach ball swallows a room in the opposite corner. This Wednesday at 11 a.m., catch Friedman’s legerdemain before his baffling enchantment of an exhibition closes. It’s one of those rare treats that will leave a smile lingering on your gob long afterward.
Charley’s House of Fun
Nancy Jones
Silver linings and fun sex are two surprise elements you‘re likely to encounter this New Year at Gallery Diet in Wynwood. Director Nina Johnson opens her unashamedly beat-up gray door with a welcome smile. Seems like everyone’s a potential friend here. Even those glum looking refugees (from downtown New York ?) moping around in the back will probably lighten up after a dose of prankster artist Charley Friedman’s Magical Powers.
Friedman makes his home in that beehive of art-making –Brooklyn– where most sculptors who know-what’s-good-for-them live these days. His second solo show here at Diet is small. But small, smart and cagey. Cagey, in fact, is how that 99-year old dynamo sculptor Louise Bourgeois once described herself. And Friedman has a little of that naughty Bourgeois in him, minus the tortured childhood angst.
His materials are by turn crude, everyday, found, or skillfully crafted, while his outlook is altogether wry. Magic Rays and Magic Powers form the locus of the exhibition. On one wall a small graphite work on paper, Magic Rays shows a gleeful male nude spreading rays of sperm-like joy around. He’s no sex symbol, just a regular guy who wants to believe he’s still a power in the world by dint of his male-ness. Walk over to the center of the room and Rays morph into Powers, a sculpture fabricated from Pop-colored felt pieces sewn together. There is also what looks like a female hand involved. Either she’s showing who’s really the boss and creator here, or she’s blocking the intrusive rays from that guy over on the wall who’s clearly deluded and infatuated with himself.
You could call it a win/win situation, or not.
There’s another sculpture by Friedman, and two handsome C-prints of a tortoise and a cow. One’s a little slow and the other gives milk.
You can read into it, or not.
No ambiguity about I Like Moist Things. Letters are carved out of natural sponges that drip intermittently into a tacky looking children’s wading pool.
You might like it, or not. I did.
Everything Is Going To Be Okay is the final Friedman work I look back to see before going out the door. Maybe 2010 won’t be so bad after all.

From Flash at Wallflower Gallery
The Wallflower Gallery Organizational Meeting 02-01-10
WE NEED TO MOVE
Hello, Everybody, how’s it going? I wanted to reach out and see what we can do together to save and revitalize The Wallflower Gallery. This is a group project, so if we want to have an artistic and creative community space in Miami, The Wallflower Gallery can be that platform.
I was recently informed by the landlord that he plans to tear down the building as soon as possible – he mentioned April, but I think we can delay it if we can get some money to him. This money will buy us the time to transition smoothly.
For almost 13 years, The Wallflower Gallery has stood as a place for musicians to play, for poets to share their poems, for visual artists to display their pieces, for independent film makers to showcase films and videos, for actors to act, as well as host a larger assortment of creative showcases. In addition, we have worked with a variety of community organizations to help with local issues, programs for young people, alternative transportation, animal rights, environmental causes, marijuana laws reform, secular humanism, electoral campaigns and many other causes. Even now as we are struggling to keep the business alive, we are giving support to the people of Haiti and we have hosted a collection event – overall it is about compassion. Now it is time to focus a campaign on The Wallflower Gallery.
I am calling for an Organizational Meeting on Monday, February 1 – 7:00 p.m. to discuss what we can do to bring ideas together. I will lay out the details of the situation and see what we as a group can do with suggestions. Bring your cash, checkbooks and credit cards to contribute some financial support. Donations can also go through PayPal on our website – www.wallflowergallery.com – other information will be posted there as well. If we don’t get the financial resources to make this happen, it won’t work.
Now the large task at hand is to generate money to cover the expenses in the current location and find a new location that will have to be set up to meet the needs of the business. In addition, there needs to be an accounting of the inventory and make sure that the items get back to the various artists and any balances due are covered.
I would like to take this opportunity to change the current dynamics. We need to create an active Board of Directors who can work together to organize the various aspects of The Wallflower Gallery and establish a better system to manage the whole operation. Part of this includes establishing a non-profit organization to work with tax-deductible donations.
The Wallflower Gallery brings to the table a strong talent base, a hefty database of connections, a good reputation, lots of experience and a kick-ass sound system. This is the starting point for the new phase of The Wallflower Gallery.
If The Wallflower Gallery fades, there is not another business of its kind waiting in the wings. We are not a simple CD store, art gallery, coffee shop or venue. We are more than those elements and as a community center we have always reached out to younger people to include them and feature their talents.
We have had people from all over the world come to The Wallflower Gallery and remark how unique and cozy the space is. People are always saying that there is nothing in Miami like it. At the same time, they wish they had a place like this where they lived.
This is our opportunity to come together and make something happen that will enrich our community in many ways. We are here to represent South Florida and our creative and progressive spirits, so let’s make it happen!
Let’s see what we can do together. More information will follow.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Thank you for your effort.
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD & GET OTHERS INVOLVED
Hope all’s well.
Enjoy

“NEW WORLD ORDER” or “NWO” refers to a conspiracy theory for the emergence of a one world currency, religion, language and an absolute fascist ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT.
A secretive satanic elite/Illuminati with a globalist agenda is conspiring to rule the world through an autonomous world government, which would replace sovereign nation-states and have absolute complete control of only 500 million remaining human inhabitants on Earth. Currently the Earth’s total human population is 6,794,400,000, which means most all of us will have to disappear! This is being accomplished with “Population Control”, which includes contrived wars, epidemic diseases, a poisoned food and water supply, drugs, poverty, artificially manipulated weather disasters and mass killings in concentration type camps. Significant occurrences in politics and financial disasters have been orchestrated by an extremely influential cabal of the wealthiest families in the world, such as the Rothchilds, Rockafellers, House of Windsor, The Bush family and more are operating through many front and corporate organizations. Numerous historical and current events such as 9/11 are seen as steps in an on-going plot to achieve world domination, through manipulation of the media, secret political gatherings and decision-manking processes in places as The United Nations, Bilderberg Group, Bohemian Club, Trilateral Commission, Free Masonry, The Vatican, Inner London, Washington D.C. and more.
With the “current” access to vast amounts of information by using the Internet, this knowledge has been seeping into popular culture thereby inaugurating an unrivaled period of concerned citizens actively preparing for apocalyptic scenarios in the United States and abroad.
An insurrectionary movement capable of subverting this established Illuminati agenda has been forming in various places around the world.
Please be informed and do research on this topic, you will find it quite fascinating!

International Miami artist George Rodez has scheduled four fundraising events at The Capital Grille restaurants in south Florida to aid the victims of Haiti’s earthquake.
International artist George Rodez and Rodezart.com are offering a unique opportunity to help raise funds to benefit the victims of Haiti’s devastating earthquake with all proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross International Disaster Response Fund. Mr. Rodez will be hosting four fundraising events at The Capital Grille restaurants across South Florida. At each event, in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens, guests will have the opportunity to purchase an 11″ x 11″ piece Rodez has chosen for this cause, appropriately called “The Gift of Love.” In addition, guests will also be able to bid on a larger version of this piece. The dates when Mr. Rodez’s artwork will be available at The Capital Grille locations are as follows:
•Wednesday, January 27 from 5 to 7 pm in Miami, 444 Brickell Avenue.
•Thursday, January 28 from 5 to 7 pm in Ft. Lauderdale’s, 2430 East Sunrise Blvd.
•Monday, February 1 from 5 to 7 pm in Boca Raton, 6000 Glades Road
•Tuesday, February 2 from 5 to 7 pm in Palm Beach Gardens, 11365 Legacy Avenue.
Rodez has created a special “open edition” for this fund raising effort. According to him, the 11″ x 11″ size was chosen to honor a member of The Capital Grille staff who lost 11 family members in the quake. “I can’t imagine losing one family member, let alone 11. I was heartbroken.â€
As he did after Haiti’s devastating storms in 2008 and before that after Katrina, George has not batted an eye in donating proceeds from the sale of his artwork to different charities many times over. In fact in 2006, he was honored by Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, stating, “Your involvement in fund raising for charitable organizations through your generous art contributions is truly commendable.” As for the people of Haiti he states, “The people of Haiti have been suffering long before these devastating occurrences. To sit here with our arms crossed while we see Haiti crumbling before our eyes is inhumane. We have to help these people. It’s no wonder they attempt to flee their own country looking for a better way of life. Maybe, just maybe, we can all come together to help make a difference and help these people achieve their goal right in their own homeland.â€

A must for all cultural arts enthusiasts!
The Leadership Miami Alumni Group selects a community service project each year for “incubation†which is designed to sustain the project and continue its introduction into the community. This year they have selected the community service project “Diversity through the Arts.â€
Set against the backdrop of a growing skyline, diminishing affordable housing and the necessary interaction of Miami’s different cultures, Melt tells the story of an African American brother and sister, a Jewish father and son and a Hispanic mother and her son who find their lives intertwining over social and moral issues as seen from the perspective of each culture. The Leadership Miami Alumni Group believes that the “incubation†of this project in a ‘ONE COMMUNITY, ONE PLAY’ event will have a positive impact on the nature of the ongoing community discussion about the diversity of our population.
With today’s economic situation, we are seeing more stress on our community and it is even more important now than ever that we address the problem by easing the tension and bringing our community together in new and artistic ways. The Group will fundraise to donate to the community approximately half of the tickets (2,000) to various relevant groups, such as, community based and civic organizations, high school students, academicians, clergy and members of local fire and police departments to truly make it a ‘ONE COMMUNITY, ONE PLAY’ event. Talkbacks with community leaders about the experiences garnered during and after the play are an essential part of the project and will take place both on stage and via social media.
In order for The Leadership Miami Alumni Group to make this worthwhile project possible we will need our community’s support. If you or you know of someone who would like to get involved either through volunteer efforts, audience development, marketing, or fundraising please let me know.
Tickets can be purchased at www.actorsplayhouse.org and all money raised goes to the South Florida Progress Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable organization 501(c)3.
Please join our Facebook page and contribute to the ongoing discussion about the Play by visiting this link http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?ref=profile&id=5307448#/pages/MELT-One-CommunityOne-Play/211927847720?ref=mf

Winter Music Conference
March 23 – 27, 2010
Miami Beach, FL
Winter Music Conference celebrates it’s 25th year as one of the most anticipated and publicized global gatherings for pioneering artists, innovators and professionals at the bold new Eden Roc Beach Resort & Spa on Miami Beach, March 23 – 27, 2010.
Long regarded as an essential proving ground for new releases, artists and technological advances, WMC 2009 attracted over 70,000 event attendees, 503 accredited journalists and 3,228 industry delegates from 62 countries who participated in 52 industry panels, seminars and workshops as well as 1,910 artists and DJs who performed at a total of 506 events presented at 127 venues across 6 days in Miami Beach and Miami.
WMC’s 25th anniversary industry program will convene at the Eden Roc resort which has just undergone a multi-year $200 million renovation. “It’s a perfect fit for what we are doing” says WMC Co-founder, Louis Possenti, “The lobby bar has a great ambience for networking and the timing is just right with an impressive renovation. The rooms are some of the nicest I’ve seen on the beach.” Special Convention Rates start at $219 per night.
Highlights of the 2010 program will include the IDMAs (International Dance Music Awards), also in its 25th consecutive year, where the music business converges to honor exceptional achievements of industry, artists and innovators in more than 50 categories. The IDMAs is one of the only longstanding industry events of its stature where the fans decide – generating over a million votes from music fans in 183 countries last year. The online ballot will be posted in November.
WMC will also present the 3rd edition of South Beach Sessions, a bold new perspective on the traditional WMC panel program. Founded on the principles that make music compelling – individual expression, empowerment, creative thinking and collaboration – the program’s mission is to create greater exposure for artists and ideas. Pioneers in music, art, fashion, technology, business, education, the environment participate in one of the most inspiring and epic programs of the week. SBS has featured some of the industry’s most pioneering champions of positive change from Richie Hawtin to Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am.
WMC 2010 will host the 4th edition of the Record Collector’s Show – an international hub for buyers, sellers and traders of rare and collectible vinyl, tapes, and music memorabilia which assembles the best record dealers and features some of the rarest music in the world.
The WMC badge also includes entry to the 12th Annual Ultra Music Festival, the largest event of its kind in the US.
Currently the WMC industry badge is being offered at a promotional Early Registration rate of $235 until November 11th, which includes access to all official WMC events across the conference dates. Marketing opportunities are currently discounted by 40% through December 18, 2009.

Little Haiti Based Non-Profit Responds to Meek’s Call for Leadership
Art Studio Miami Increasing Capacity to Serve Youth Impacted by Haiti Earthquake
January 22, 2010, Miami, FL- Little Haiti based Art Studio Miami (ASM) is ramping up volunteer efforts in response to the anticipated influx of refugee children pouring into Miami from earthquake ravaged Haiti. ASM annually serves approximately 200 youth from the impoverished area of Little Haiti, and staff expect demand to increase dramatically in the coming months as children orphaned by the earthquake arrive in South Florida.
Kendrick Meek (D-FL) addressed news crews on Tuesday at the City of Miami’s staging area for Haiti relief, located directly across the street from ASM. Meek called for local organizations to provide leadership and support during the long period of rebuilding.
“South Florida is in this for the long haul; this will be the center for the recovery. . . and we are going to need leadership and understanding,” said Meek.
In response to Meek’s appeal, ASM volunteers and staff have begun working around the clock to prepare for additional students in the coming months. An army volunteer teaching artists and administrators have stepped up to provide holistic programming that will allow children impacted by the disaster to express their feelings through creative projects that prepare them for academic success.
“We must provide safe spaces where youth can heal and build solid foundations for better lives,†said Art Studio Miami Founder and lead volunteer, Rachel Hughes.
Since 2007, ASM has served over 500 youth from Little Haiti and Overtown using creative, art based projects to nurture students’ creative thinking abilities and prepare them for classroom settings and job situations. The organization partners with professional artists and community leaders to provide students with mentors and concrete tools to remain in school, and gain stable employment after graduation. Programs incorporate yoga, meditation, and deep breathing to help student’s develop positive ways to address the distressing living situations they face daily.
“In the wake of this disaster, people are forgetting that many Haitian people who have already immigrated to Miami are in desperately impoverished conditions, living below the poverty level, which in several cases means homelessness, no running water, and little to no food or water,†said Hughes.
According to Hughes, many of the youth served at ASM are struggling to obtain an education due to language barriers and health issues from lack of water, food and clean living conditions.
Hughes is calling on the Miami business and philanthropic communities to provide financial support and supplies for youth being served at Art Studio Miami. Donations of non perishable food, bottled water, and funding are being accepted to offset the costs of increasing programming. Donations can be made starting Monday at www.ASMHelpLittleHaiti.org or by calling the ASM office at 786-317-8118.
ASM volunteers are also on the ground in Haiti. A team of ASM volunteers left for Port-au-Prince early Tuesday morning to assisting directly with the relief efforts on the ground. Nearly all of the students served at ASM have family still in Haiti.
Art Studio Miami uses art as a tool for educational, emotional, and career development. Through the arts, we teach life skills to prepare students for successful futures. Youth in foster care, homeless situations, and extreme poverty depend on us to provide tools that empower them to gain stable employment and contribute to our community.
Art Studio Miami programs go far beyond art – they are lifelines out of poverty. According to the Florida 11th Judicial Circuit Court’s Juvenile Justice Board, one in three youth in the area served by ASM will be imprisoned by age twenty-one. Our programs focus on dismantling the ‘Cradle to Prison Pipeline’ by providing students with mentors and tools to create a future free from the crippling effects of poverty.

It’s not nice to keep secrets, so we are revealing our cupcakes to the world. Since February 14, 2008 our delights have been the centerpieces of birthdays, fashion shows, and charity functions. Wondering how we came up with our tasty mix? It wasn’t a hand me down from grandma or a cookbook recipe it was trial and error baking sessions that ultimately yielded our flavorlicious concoction. We are two best friends just baking our way through the American dream with flavors such as Oye Como Va and Coconut Grove representing South Florida and its invigorating “sabor”. For us the best part of making cupcakes, besides the leftover frosting, is the reactions from our clients. We bake night and day listening to music, yes we bake while you sleep. We sift, whisk, chop and mix from scratch. P.S. Our name, quite simple and straight to the point, just 2 girls and a cupcake. Bon Cup-a-Cupcake!

MUN2 & SURROPA POP-UP STORE IN MIAMI BEACH
This weekend only!
Kick-off party – Friday January 22nd at Bar 721
Mun2 is kicking off a new show called The Mun2 Look. They have asked SURROPA
to create a special pop-up retail store, to mark the occasion, from Jan 22nd – 24th in Miami Beach, FL.
The event kicks off on Jan 22nd at Bar 721 (721 N Lincoln Lane, Miami Beach) with a cocktail reception, DJ set by Mr. Pauer and food catered by Latin Burger, owned by celebrity chef, Ingrid Hoffman (who knew that even a burger would taste that much better with a little Latin flare).
If you’re interested in attending, send an email to info@surropa.com and you’ll be on the guest list, or you can RSVP directly on the Surropa Facebook page. Only those on our list will be admitted to this event.
The store, located at 1671 Meridian Ave (next to Macy’s), will be open the night of the 22nd from 7PM-11PM as well as Saturday and Sunday from 12PM-8PM. SOBO artists will be customizing Vans slip-ons and Kid Robot Munny’s toys. SURROPA also have this amazing t-shirt printer that will print any phrase you can think of (keep it clean please). Come stop by and check out some really cool Latin and Latin-inspired brands and products (nothing you can find at any other store in Miami, promise).
Mun2 will also be filming throughout the weekend, so who knows, you may even get on TV. At the very least, you can meet Paula Garces, the new host of The mun2 Look will be there from 12-2 on Saturday (guys trust us, you won’t be disappointed). For you women, Guad Venegas, the host of 18 and Over and Pico from The mun2 Shuffle will be hanging out at the store on Sunday from 12-2PM.
Those of you in Miami, who plan to attend, make sure to print out the flyer at the top to receive a 15% discount on your order. Those not able to attend, SURROPA have something for you as well. Use the coupon code “themun2look” at the checkout area of surropa.com and you’ll receive a 15% discount off your order (good through 1/26).
Surropa.com Pop-up store – 1671 Meridian Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139 (next to Macy’s)

pinkroom
What’s your favorite color?
The worlds first socially responsible and eco lounge debuts with the arrival of pinkroom South Beach www.pinkroommiami.com It’s opening in early February 2010 will mark the beginning of a new era in South Beach’s always changing and evolving international nightlife scene. Inspirations for pinkroom derive from music, modern design and the most sensual and feminine color of all – Pink.
With the color pink being synonymous with the pink ribbon breast cancer research charities it was only natural that pinkroom would become the first lounge ever to commit a portion of it’s profits to breast cancer research as well as offer a monthly “Pink Drink With A Cause” where half the price will go to breast cancer research. And the commitment to women does not stop there as pinkroom will ensure that it’s female guests are royally catered to by a special “Female Concierge” who will arrange for a car service, remove stains from your frock or fix your high heel in case of shoe emergency. This handsome young butler will be on call for all the ladies that are seated in the VIP areas.
The 4,300 square foot space is located in the heart of South Beach at 737 Washington Avenue and will feature VIP access via a secret back alley entrance. At pinkroom it will be all about music and the centerpiece of the space is the LED covered DJ Booth flanked by podiums for dancers and over looking a pink “runway” that can all be combined for a spacious stage and cat walk for performances and fashion shows. When the runway is not being used for shows guests will be able to utilize the space for dancing and showing off. A technologically cutting-edge sound system and supreme acoustics ensures pinkroom’s success for becoming a nexus of A-list DJ’s and Listening parties and inspiration for the ever-present music industry in South Beach.
Pinkroom is designed by renowned Los Angeles eco design firm Wick Architecture and Designwww.wickarch.com, responsible for the first prototype retail store for Joe’s Jeans, and will be the first Eco and Smart Designed lounge with an injection of South Beach sexiness. Guests first peek at this inviting enclave is marked by the arrive point of an oversized frosted glass with a discreet pink piping surrounding the window outlines. It offers a glimpse of the action going on inside. A large interactive mural of seductive female eyes over looks either side of the main room with wink.
Some of the designs features in the space, include two highly perched VIP mezzanines one of which will be entirely hot pink and will be private with 2 way mirrored wall where guests can see out but can not be seen A series of “Smart Banquettes” in the VIP areas will face toward the DJ Booth and offer the best vantage point to see and be scene. The banquettes are specially designed to allow for two tiers for seating and dancing. The Back wall is completely covered with smoked mirrors and columns are covered in faux black fur.
A pink inspired cocktail menu with offerings like the “Pinkatini” pinkroom’s version of the pink cosmo will be offered along with luxury bottle service that comes with a mini trays of chocolate covered strawberries.

About the BART B MORE & MATTHIAS TANZMANN:
BART B MORE LIVE video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcOuTQ4Ea8Y
Think of the newest craze in the international House scene and only one name comes to mind: Bart B More. After the massive international support on “So It Goes†and Bart’s “Freak†remix for Sandy Rivera the buzz seems to be growing by the minute! Everywhere his name shows up, dancefloor dopeness is guaranteed. Combining his love for beat-driven, looped techno music with big room house and electro Bart has been able to create a refreshing new cross-over sound. Together with Steve Bug and Daniel Stefanik, Matthias Tanzmann has produced various eps, drawing inspiration from the new dynamics and sounds that the collaborative process can create. Behind the decks he advanced to become one of the most popular and booked german house djs in the world, later securing residencies at Flokati (Munich) and Circoloco@dc10 (ibiza)

South Florida’s Music Community Responds to the Haiti Crisis with the “Haiti Mizik Relief” Concert at Bayfront Park
Saturday, January 23rd & Sunday, January 24th
100% of donations will go to The American Red Cross for relief of the earthquake-devastated country.
A group of event producers, musicians, community leaders and activists have leveraged their network to quickly organize a 2-day Haiti Mizik Relief Concert at Bayfront Park’s Tina Hills Pavilion on Saturday, January 23rd from 4pm-10pm and Sunday, January 24th from 2pm-8pm . The 100% benefit concert will collect a suggested $10 minimum donation at the door with all proceeds going directly to The American Red Cross for the immediate relief needs of Haiti. The benefit concert offers Miamians a chance to be together, listen to great music and raise desperately needed aid.
Miami’s community and the world have felt a deep sense of responsibility and urgency to donate their money, time and talent in the wake of the Haiti tragedy. Sadly, the concert lineup includes musicians who have been personally affected by the tragedy losing close relatives and waiting desperately to connect with loved ones in the devastated island nation.
The Haiti Mizik Relief Concert will musically mirror the diverse rhythms of Miami’s music community, featuring a plethora of Miami-based top Haitian, Latin Funk and World Music groups. Confirmed to appear are legendary Haitian Tuco Bouzi & Dixie Band performing along with Kapi & Yves Abel of Tabou Combo, Fredy of Top Vice, Jacky Ambroise of Strings, Ralph Conde of Nu-Look. Jan Sebon & Kazak International, Locos Por Juana, DJ Le Spam and The Spam All Stars, Rara Rock, Empress Addi & The Breeze, Jean P Jam, Papaloko & Lolay Mistik, Suénalo, Afrobeta, Conjunto Progreso, Jahfe, and DJ Pauer. Key leaders of both the Haitian and Miami community are also scheduled to appear.
The Haiti Mizik Relief Concert is produced on a not for profit/volunteer basis by The Rhythm Foundation and La Juana Productions, working closely with a group of musicians, artists and producers. Community support has been instantaneous and includes Epiphone, who has generously donated an Epiphone guitar that will be raffled off at the event and Bevinco of Miami has stepped in to provide for production needs. The Knight Foundation has also agreed to match donations up to $5,000. Media partners Miami New Times and WDNA 88.9FM have also agreed to sponsor the benefit concert.

FLAMENCO (from guitarist.com) is a particular kind of music/dance (and some would say lifestyle) native to, but no longer restricted to, a small region of Andalucia in Southern Spain. Like American “blues” it probably has ancient antecedents, but as a distinct genre is only a couple centuries old. Not all Andalucian folk music is flamenco. Not all flamenco artists have been Andalucians (e.g., Sabicas), or even Spanish (e.g., Greco). Info continues here.

Mynt Lounge and Sow A Seed invite you to their Collaboration in Collectively Aiding Haiti As the desperation increases in Haiti during this tragic catastrophe and we are blessed to enjoy our weekend, let’s join forces in making a difference while we have a good time! Join us tomorrow Saturday, January 16th as we work side by side with Sow A Seed, to raise funds for the sole purpose of helping Haiti during this devastation. Sow A Seed is a non-profit organization created by a group of young professionals to provide the basic essentials for disadvantaged children living in extreme poverty in Haiti. In light of the recent tragedy they are converging all of their efforts towards earthquake relief.
All door proceeds (100%) will be donated to the victims of Haiti. As communities unite why should our industry be any different? Let’s give a little, while we dance a lot and rejoice knowing that a little goodness came from our celebration. This is just a minor step towards what we can do to make a difference, and since your loyalty has always made a difference to us we wouldn’t count on another audience for their support! Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person. —Mother Teresa
