Kuba Cabana, a lively dining concept where “Old World Cuba Meets Modern Miami” is hosting “Kubaret.” Located in the vibrant CityPlace Doral, the series of exhilarating evenings will take place on the last Thursday of every month. Each themed dinner show features a Las Vegas Style Cabaret with burlesque performers, live music including acclaimed singers, a 7-piece band and DJ, a premium open bar and an unforgettable prix fixe menu. The events are open to guests aged 21 and older.

An energetic, culinary experience-based venue serving modern Latin-inspired cuisine, Kuba Cabana features unmistakable Cuban and Caribbean flair. This dining concept stems from the beautiful traditions of Latin and Caribbean music, cuisine and culture. Stunning, vibrant décor ranges from neon signs and tropical foliage to walls donned with Cuban-inspired art by local artists.

The 3-course Latin-style menu, prepared by Kuba Cabana’s celebrated Corporate Chef Jorge Mas and Executive Chef Pedro E. Sarracino, will include:

First course – select one from:
• Kubiche – Cuban style corvina ceviche, cachucha pepper, crispy boniato
• Ham or Chorizo croquetas, roasted garlic aioli
• Beef Empanada, chimichurri mayo
• Chicken Empanada, roasted yellow pepper mayo
• Burrata & Papaya Salad, pesto, balsamic reduction

Second course – select one from:
• Havana Chicken – sour orange and garlic roasted half chicken, arroz moro, sweet plantains
• Short Rib “Fricassee” – slow braised short rib, Tomato sofrito, Ají, Wine over a creamy boniato purée
• Pescado a la Plancha – Grilled Branzino fillet, spiced butter, steamed vegetables, lemon
• Arroz con Pollo “A la Chorrera” – Cuban style Chicken rice, charred corn, peas, chorizo dust, cerveza

Kuba Cabana boasts 8,900-square-feet of dining and patio seating. The restaurant is in compliance with the best practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as state and local health care officials, in an effort to serve as a place where guests feel comfortable venturing back into public and reconnecting with friends and family. All guests and employees are required to wear a facial covering, maintain the social distance of 6 feet between visitors and wash their hands in accordance with the CDC guidelines.

In celebration of Black History Month, Kuba Cabana is embracing all the beauty and wonder of Southern Blues by blending the 1920s Juke Joint with highly energetic, Southern choreography. Join Kuba Cabana on a trip down memory lane on this unforgettably funky night.

Time:
From 8–9 p.m., guests will enjoy a cocktail hour with a premium open bar.

From 9:30–close, the main event seating will feature an incredible 3-course Latin-style menu. All other beverages are available for an additional charge. All orders must be placed prior to the start of the show.

Cost:
$150/person + 21% gratuity + 7% tax

Prime tables are available, and range from $750–$3,000, including bottle service (ranging per person and table size). All table reservations include a bottle of Toast™ vodka, a bottle of Prosecco, and a bottle of the guests’ choice.

Kuba Cabana, a lively new dining concept where “Old World Cuba Meets Modern Miami” located in the vibrant CityPlace Doral, is hosting “Cabana’s Golden Age ― A New Year’s Dinner Party Like No Other,” featuring cocktails, a Roaring Twenties Las Vegas Style Cabaret, live music, unforgettable dinner, and a Cuban-style countdown to 2021 with a champagne toast. This classy evening, hosted by Drag Queen, Miss Noel Leon, embraces the Roaring Twenties and is open to guests aged 21 and older. There is nothing better than to finish off the year with a touch of class at Kuba Cabana!

Crowned Burlesque Queens, the cast of Cocktails & Cabaret, will take guests on a musical journey from the Roaring Twenties to today’s chart-topping hits, including songs such as “Fever,” “Whatever Lola Wants,” “All That Jazz,” a tribute to Disco, a Carnival Finale and more. The Burlesque Queens have traveled the world performing, most with acclaimed performer Queen Dita Von Teese.

From 4–6 p.m., an open, timed seating, featuring a limited a la carte menu, will be offered. Guests will enjoy an energetic, culinary-based experience featuring modern Latin-inspired cuisine. Happy Hour specials will not be offered.

From 7–9:15 p.m., the first timed seating will feature an incredible 3-course Latin-style New Year’s Eve menu, plus a glass of Prosecco, and exciting live entertainment, including a DJ and 7-piece “Great Gatsby-style” band. All other beverages are charged upon consumption.

From 9:45 p.m.–midnight, the second seating (main event seating) will feature an incredible 3-course Latin-style New Year’s Eve menu, plus a glass of Prosecco. The main event New Year’s celebration (10:30 p.m.–midnight) will include a spectacular show including Las Vegas Style Cabaret show girls, a DJ and 7-piece “Great Gatsby-style” band, and champagne toast integrated with the show. Fifteen minutes before the countdown to midnight begins, guests will receive 12 lucky grapes (a Cuban tradition) and a glass of Prosecco to welcome the year 2021. All other beverages are available for an additional charge. Prime tables, available for prices ranging from $750–$3,000, will include bottle service ranging per person and table size. All table reservations include a bottle of Toast™ Vodka, a bottle of Prosecco, and a bottle of the guests’ choice.

The impressive 3-course Latin-style New Year’s Eve menu, prepared by Kuba Cabana’s celebrated Corporate Chef Jorge Mas and Executive Chef Pedro E. Sarracino, will be served during the first seating (7–9:15 p.m.) and second seating (9:45 p.m.–midnight) only:

Kuba Cabana will be open from 4 p.m.–midnight on Dec. 31, operating with a limited menu for seating areas outside of the show/celebration area.

Stage Mother, a new comedy-drama starring Oscar-nominated Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook, Animal Kingdom), Adrian Grenier (Entourage, The Devil Wears Prada) and Emmy-Nominated Lucy Liu (Charlie’s Angels, Elementary, Ally McBeal), will kick-off the 22nd edition of the OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival on Thursday, August 20, at 7 p.m. This special OUTshine Opening Night Drive-OUT preview at Dezerland Drive-In in North Miami (the film will be released to the public on August 21) will launch a celebration of diversity and equality with 80 thought-provoking films from 20 countries, (many never-seen-before and not available on any streaming platform) accessible via 44 screenings available from August 20 – 30, 2020. A livestreamed Q& A session will follow the film.

Stage Mother tells the story of Maybelline (Jacki Weaver), a conservative Texas church-choir director who inherits her recently deceased son’s drag club. She surprises her closed-minded husband and everyone else she knows by moving alone to San Francisco to save the club from bankruptcy. In this raucous, racy new environment, she begins to open-up and finds new meaning for her life, even becoming a mother-figure to the club’s flamboyant performers. In addition to Adrian Grenier and Lucy Liu, the film also stars, Mya Taylor (Tangerine) and the legendary Jackie Beat.

Stage Mother was a winner of the Best of the Fest Audience Vote at the Palm Springs International Film Festival and winner of the Next Wave Award from the Provincetown International Film Festival.

The 22nd edition of the OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival, a bi-annual film festival whose mission is to unite the community through social events and LGBTQ+ media that inspire, entertain, and educate, is going virtual! For the first time in the organization’s history, 80 new contemplative, comedic and creative films from 20 countries, (many never-seen-before and not available on any streaming platform) with 44 screenings will be made available to viewers throughout the state of Florida from August 20 – 30, 2020. The festival will also host livestreamed special events with cocktail happy hours, talent and Q & A sessions as a way to virtually tie the community together.

The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale, recognized as Broward County’s premier shopping destination, has announced Fender artist and Latin Grammy Award winner Manny Diquez as its next featured performer on Happy Hour with The Galleria, a virtual music series, scheduled for Thursday, June 18, at 5 p.m., on Facebook Live. He will perform a variety of alternative, classic rock and popular covers from Oasis, Cat Stevens, Stevie Wonder, The Spin Doctors, The Beatles, REM, Bob Marley, Gnarls Barkley and Ben E. King.

Born in Trinidad & Tobago, raised in Venezuela and living in the United States since 2004, Manny Diquez is a versatile musical artist who has recorded more than 30 albums, many in both Spanish and English. He has won two Latin Grammy Awards as a musician and arranger in 2011 and was a 2012 Latin Grammy artist nominee for “Best Rock Song.” Diquez served as music director for networks including Univision and Telemundo and is a voting member of the Grammy Academy Awards and Latin Grammy Academy Awards. When he’s not in the studio. Diquez is a touring musician.

Launched in April on Facebook Live, Happy Hour with The Galleria has successfully entertained thousands in the local community during the COVID-19 quarantine. Lips, the ultimate in drag dining, is excited to welcome the community back to the perfect place for any celebration when it officially reopens at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, in compliance with local and state COVID 19 guidelines. The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale, recognized as Broward County’s premier shopping destination, has announced emerging songstress Carly Jo Jackson as its next featured performer on Happy Hour with The Galleria, a virtual music series, scheduled for Thursday, June 4, at 5 p.m. on Facebook Live.

With a voice filled with grit and soul, Carly Jo Jackson brings the heat of the Florida sunshine to all she does. She has a vocal tone that is as infectious as her charismatic stage presence. She caught the attention of some big names in the music and entertainment business, opening shows for Michael McDonald (who also provided vocals on her recent EP), Kenny Loggins and Dennis Quaid and serving as a musical inspiration to Jeff Bridges who recently featured her on his Sleep Club website. Other notable performances include her 2014 appearance on America’s Got Talent, where she appeared in two televised episodes and advanced to Judgement Week; performing as an Emerging Artist at 2018’s Summerfest; singing backup vocals to Kenny Loggins at 2019’s Hawaii Songwriters Festival; performing at the renowned 30A Songwriters Festival along with Jason Isbell, Brandi Carlile, Shawn Mullins, Livingston Taylor and more; opening a San Francisco 49ers game; and winning the 2015 Belk Southern Musician Showcase. Lips, the ultimate in drag dining, will once again present “A Night of Stars,” as the official kick-off fundraiser for the annual SMART Ride (Southern Most AIDS/HIV Ride 2020), a 165 Mile bicycle ride from Miami to Key West planned for this November.

Five celebrity guest servers will be dishing out great food and fun alongside Lips’ very own cast of characters as SMART Ride supporters are dazzled by divas. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run presented by Turkish Airlines, a three-circuit 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk, will once again wind its way through the streets of West Palm Beach on Wednesday, April 15, at 6:45 p.m. Known as “Florida’s Largest Office Party”, the run is open to employees of businesses, corporations, government agencies, financial institutions and non-profits – regardless of company size – and incorporates a special competition to award the overall men’s, women’s and co-ed teams in 20 different industries. Beginners can “ease into exercise” with friends and gain inspiration and motivation to continue walking and running to improve overall health, while competitive runners have the opportunity to shine amongst their co-workers and lead the corporate team to victory.

As part of the tri-county race circuit, $1 per participant of the West Palm Beach run will benefit United Way.

Funding Arts Broward (FAB!), a non-profit volunteer-based arts organization committed to preserving and cultivating the arts in Broward County, will present its fourth annual “Black & White: A Night At The Museum” friend-raiser. I Paint My Reality: Surrealism in Latin America examines the manifestation of Surrealism in Latin America. Drawn exclusively from NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale’s in-depth collection of Latin American art and promised gifts from the Stanley and Pearl Goodman collection, the exhibition features works by Leonora Carrington, Frida Kahlo, Wifredo Lam, Roberto Matta, Carlos Mérida, Wolfgang Paalen, Amelia Peláez, Rufino Tamayo, Joaquín Torres-García, Xul Solar and Remedios Varo, among others.

Known as “The Dutch Master of Light,” Tim Boin curated this selection of 8 of the best Dutch street artists in cross-combination with his own solo exhibition ‘Geometry is Life’ at the W South Beach during Miami Art Week. His group of artists all excel in bold, abstract and unconventional large-scale work found internationally and celebrated globally.

About the Artists:
Tim Boin Art: Conscious elements are at the root of Tim’s message. Celebrated for his larger-than-life sculptures, he depicts the ecosystem’s sensitive state. Using 3D Mapping, Tim literally and figuratively sheds light on his geometric sculptures of endangered species in his most recent work.
digitaldoes: He focuses on collecting pieces from past walls and reshaping them into a new form to use as core elements in his new pieces. He perpetuates the past and makes new work traceable to a specific google coordinate of a bygone wall. From China to Mexico and Australia to New York, his work has been found all across the globe.
Saïd Kinos: His work expresses a fascination for the way people communicate with each other. It’s recognizable by his high-contrast use of distorted typography. His visual overkill is a metaphor for the amount of information we have to process on a daily basis.
TELMO MIEL: This creative duo evolved from creating individual pieces on one mural into developing one image, one composition together. They focus on playfulness in abstraction of reality; attempting to make the viewer see opposite perspectives and subjects with a different eye.
Joram Roukes: Using juxtapositions of imagery, he creates abstract narratives and figures that evoke introspection and contemplation. His work gained attention from several international galleries, and he actively paints large-scale murals across the globe, including Copenhagen, Paris, Berlin, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles and London, to name a few.
Bier en Brood: Inspired by machines, nature and architecture, they possess a unique style, often interpreted as sinister and apocalyptic. Their preferred mediums include highly detailed pen drawings, spray-cans and paint for their large-scale work.
Mossy Giant: He has a slightly neurotic fascination with detailed line-work and stories within stories. Not made for the easily distracted, recurring themes in this work include nature, man, beast & machine.
Zevous: His company, Dutch Deco Finish, specializes in wall and furniture finishes for amusement parks and large festivals, which has led to over a decade of developing relationships with artists worldwide; and after these artists began approaching him to commission exclusive works of art, it has inspired him to create his own extensive portfolio.

Dutch DJ Damoulis is setting sound waves to this visual playground, mastering in Miami-favorite sounds like Afrobeats, AfroHouse, Latin and Dutch urban music and dancehall.

John David Jackson (born November 18, 1977), known professionally as Fabolous, is an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York City. Jackson’s career began when he was a senior in high school and ended up rapping live on American record producer and music executive DJ Clue’s radio show, then on Hot 97. Jackson was subsequently signed by DJ Clue to his label Desert Storm, and later secured a distribution deal with Elektra Records. Fabolous’ first release, Ghetto Fabolous (2001), spawned the hit singles “Can’t Deny It” and “Young’n (Holla Back)”, which led Jackson to prominence. His second release was 2003’s Street Dreams, which was supported by two Top 10 singles “Can’t Let You Go” and “Into You”.

Including the aforementioned songs, Jackson has released a string of hit singles, such as “Trade It All, Pt. 2”, “Breathe”, “Make Me Better”, “Baby Don’t Go”, “Throw It in the Bag” and “You Be Killin’ Em”. He is also known for appearing on several R&B singles, including “Superwoman Pt. II” by Lil’ Mo, “Dip It Low” by Christina Milian, “Shawty Is a 10” by The-Dream, “Addiction” by Ryan Leslie, “I Can’t Hear the Music” by Brutha, “She Got Her Own” by Jamie Foxx, “Say Aah” by Trey Songz, and much more.

In 2004, Jackson signed to Atlantic Records, after leaving Elektra, where he released Real Talk, his first and only album under Atlantic. In 2006, Jackson was let out of his contract with Atlantic and officially signed with Def Jam Recordings. Also in 2006, Jackson founded his own record label, Street Family Records. In 2007, he released From Nothin’ to Somethin’, under Def Jam. In 2009, he would go on to release his fifth album, Loso’s Way. Throughout the years Jackson has released several mixtapes, including several installments of his highly acclaimed There Is No Competition series and The S.O.U.L. Tape series, respectively. He released his sixth album, The Young OG Project, in 2014.

An estimated one in eight U.S. women is expected to develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. While these statistics are alarming, individuals and organizations across the nation continue to do their part to fund vital research seeking a cure. This October, Blue Martini Fort Lauderdale is teaming up with AutoNation, America’s largest automotive retailer, to raise awareness for breast cancer as part of a month-long charitable drive, marked by a new signature event, the Rosé Garden Party on Saturday, October 19, from 8 to 11 p.m. at The Galleria Fort Lauderdale location. Proceeds from the ticketed event, which will feature live entertainment, drink specials and raffles, plus sales from specific drinks all month long, will benefit the Dolphins Cancer Challenge.

Throughout the month of October, Blue Martini Fort Lauderdale will donate $2 for every signature pink cocktail and $2 for every glass of Maison Belle Claire Rosé that is sold to the Dolphins Cancer Challenge. The Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) was founded in 2010 by the Miami Dolphins organization as the signature initiative of the Foundation’s health area. The DCC’s mission is to improve people’s lives through financial support for innovative cancer research at South Florida’s only academic-based cancer center – Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of UHealth — the University of Miami Health System. Since its inception, the DCC has raised more than $27.5 million, donating 100 percent of participant-raised funds to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. AutoNation is a proud sponsor of the event.

This month-long effort coincides with AutoNation’s partnership with The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale. Starting October 1, two gigantic pink reindeer will be prominently displayed throughout the entire month on the exterior of the mall to signify National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A pink themed vehicle will be displayed with the reindeer. This partnership underscores AutoNation’s commitment to driving out cancer. Through its DRV PNK Intiative, the company has raised more than $20 million for cancer research and treatment, placing its iconic pink plates on every vehicle it sells and services from coast to coast.

The month-long fundraiser will be marked by the Rosé Garden Party, a festive soiree featuring signature sips and culinary treats, plus raffles for designer giveaways and spa packages from sought-after brands and premier experiences.

Admission for this ticketed event includes entrance, a glass of Rosé or a signature Pink drink and a raffle ticket. Tickets are available to be purchased online for $15 from September 2 through October 19 at www.rosegardenpartyftl.eventbrite.com. Tickets are also available for purchase at the door for $20. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $10 each. Lime, a shared smart mobility provider of electric scooters, is working to promote scooter safety throughout the City of Miami’s District 2, hosting its inaugural First Ride Academy at Miami’s Bayfront Park. The interactive scooter safety workshop will teach new and existing riders about safe and proper scooter riding, including abiding by traffic laws, inspecting an electric scooter before riding (e.g., brakes, accelerator, etc.) and properly parking the scooter. 10 Days of Connection is a community-led initiative to promote kindness and inclusion in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. From May 1-10, participants are invited to attend connection experiences hosted by more than 100 local organizations, and are challenged to step outside of their comfort zone to forge new connections across lines of difference.

In recent years, people have become increasingly divided across lines of difference. Incidents of hate have increased, and tolerance for differing ideas has decreased. UnitedHealthcare will host A Better You, a series of health and wellness educational events, on April 6 to help seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries learn more about Medicare and their health care coverage options.

The events will feature the following list of renowned keynote speakers and musical performances to engage and motivate participants in a celebration of health. Speakers and performers include:

• 82-year-old record-breaking bodybuilder, Ernestine Shepherd partners with A Better You to encourage people to seek optimal physical and mental health at all ages by sharing her personal story.
• Local leader Rev. Arthur Jackson lll of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church will be sharing a word on inspirational guidance.
• Rita Tolbert from UnitedHealthcare will walk attendees through the basics of Medicare – including the different parts of the program, eligibility requirements and enrollment windows – to help them make informed health care coverage decisions.
• Attendees will also enjoy the live music and high-energy performance of legendary vocal group The Persuasions.

Showcase your creativity and step into the fantastical world of Nocturne, a new late-night, performance art-driven dance party at Faena Theater.

Kicking off on March 22, this three-month series will transport guests to alternate universes centered around a colorful theme that will inspire the night’s costumes, soundtrack, performances and cocktails.

Nocturne will also feature live DJ sets and musical acts by local artists set to heart-pounding beats and striking vocals.
