The community is invited to celebrate students from MOCA’s Teen Art Force Fashion & Textile Design course where the museum will be showcasing the students’ final projects. Students will model their own designs fabricated by hand using the skills they acquired in class over the course of the 2021-22 school year under the instruction of MOCA educator and professional fashion designer, Fiona Henderson. MOCA will also be hosting the Annual Teen Art Force Exhibition in the breezeway, where students will display the 2D, 3D artwork and film work they created.

Guests may also pick up a copy of this year’s MOCAzine, the student-crafted publication created for the community. MOCAzine has documented MOCA’s teens’ experiences, images, and thoughts for the past 20 years. The publication has captured student work, field trips, and visiting artist talks during the 2021-22 course.

The first annual Teen Art Force Fashion Show will also showcase food and fashion vendors, and an art exhibition by ProjectArt, “Remember the Sky: Memory Landscapes, Real and Imagined.” After the fashion show, guests are invited to stay for Jazz at MOCA, MOCA’s free monthly outdoor jazz concert series on the plaza.

MOCA Teen Art Force is a one-of-a-kind, free, multidisciplinary art program that provides students with a foundation in the visual arts. Classes include a wide range of techniques including drawing, textile design, sculpture, and printmaking. Teen Art Force is made possible by the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners. Teen Art Force is funded by The Children’s Trust. The Children’s Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.

Dranoff 2 Piano Foundation proudly presents the concert “Music of Cuban Independence” on May 20, Cuban Independence Day, at the Miami-Dade County Auditorium. World-renowned musicians will come together to explore Cuba’s spectacular musical heritage, celebrating the contributions of famous Cuban artists and composers from the time of Cuba’s independence from Spain to the present.

“Music of Cuban Independence” features Miami’s own Cuban-American artists: Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated pianists Martin Bejerano and Tal Cohen, bassist Jose Armando Gola, and Master Percussionist and Cuban music historian Ignacio Berroa performing Classical, Jazz, and Afro-Cuban works of Cuba and its diaspora, including 125 years of the best-loved Music of Cuba:

• Classic Cuban “Songbook” Lecuona, Leo Brower, Pablo Milanes
• Classical Cuban Composers Sergio Barroso, Ignacio Cervantes
• Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Martin Bejerano

This gorgeous performance will take the audience on a journey of Cuban music and its inspirations from the post-colonial era to the 21st century, recognizing the important artistic contributions and exciting entertainment of our closest neighbor. ‘”Music of Cuban Independence” will remind the audience that, although 90 miles can seem so far away, music has the power to bridge physical distance. These artists will transport us to the roots of our own hometown art and culture, says Carlene Sawyer, CEO of Dranoff 2 Piano Foundation. “Dranoff’s Cuban Independence concerts are a fantastic opportunity to showcase and to uphold Miami’s large and diverse Latin population, the artistic richness, and evolution of the waves of music that have come across the 90 miles of water from Cuba spanning 100 years of popular favorites from Classical to Jazz to Afro Cuban music and dance rhythms-adds Sawyer.”

South Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO) will launch its Summer Chamber Music Series on May 27 at the Center for Spiritual Living Fort Lauderdale. This series will offer music lovers a chance to enjoy the classics in a more personal, intimate atmosphere.

The Summer Program I will feature Huifang Chen (violin), Mei Mei Luo (violin), Roberto Henriquez (viola), Claudio Jaffe (cello) and Catherine Lan (piano) performing Beach’s Piano Quintet in F sharp minor, Op 67 and Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34

Amy Beach, a pioneering American composer, was first successful American female composer of large-scale art music in America, and the most performed composer of her generation. SFSO’s musicians will perform her Piano Quintet in F sharp minor, Op 67, a piece built on a theme drawn from Brahms’s piano quintet. The most widely performed of her chamber works, critics described the quintet as “truly modern” and “distinctly rhapsodic … in the fashion of our time, a work of poignant beauty, rich in exquisite melodies and lush harmonies.”

Upcoming Fort Lauderdale concerts include:

Summer Program II featuring Askar Salimdjanov (violin) and Tamila Salimdjanova (piano) performing Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No.1 in D major Op. 12 No.1, Strauss’ Violin Sonata in E-flat major, Op. 18, Frolov, Gershwin’s Concert Fantasy on Themes from Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess’ and Waxman’s Carmen Fantasie on Friday, June 24, at Center for Spiritual Living Fort Lauderdale

Summer Program III featuring Huifang Chen (violin), Felicia Besan (viola), Claudio Jaffe (cello) and Catherine Lan (piano) performing Gottsch’s Impromptu No. 3 for Cello and Piano, Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G minor, K478, and Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E-flat, Op. 47 on Friday, July 22, at Center for Spiritual Living Fort Lauderdale.

South Florida Symphony Orchestra, recently named Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ first Partner in the Arts for its affiliated $30 million renovated venue, The Parker, recently concluded its 2021-22 season in spectacular style on April 27.

General admission tickets for each program are $30; a three concert package is $75 ($15 savings). Student tickets are $15 each. Tickets are available to purchase by calling (954) 522-8445 or by visiting https://southfloridasymphony.org/summer-with-the-symphony.

Island City Stage invites the community to listen, laugh and vote for South Florida’s funniest during its Stand-UP. STAND OUT! Comedy Contest on May 23 in advance of PRIDE Month. The theatre company has sought out local comics to test their stand-up shtick in front of a live audience in the hopes of securing a spot to open-up for select shows during the run of the company’s upcoming production of “The Mystery of Irma Vep” by Charles Ludlam, a comedic horror satire. “The Mystery of Irma Vep” is part of the award-winning theater company’s 10th Anniversary 2021-22 South Florida Season.

The Stand-UP. STAND OUT! Comedy Contest will feature local comics Peter Bisuito, Brian Coronado, Michael Evans, Mai LG aka Mrs. Saigon, Seetharaman “Seetha” Radhakrishnan, Vee Shally, Chris Shepard and Sarah Kenny performing at Island City Stage. One winner, chosen by a panel of local celebrity judges including Rod Hagwood, Michelle Solomon and Scott Ryan, plus audience support, will receive a $100 gift card and an opening guest spot role for select performances of “The Mystery of Irma Vep” that runs June 9 – July 10. A nominal fee of $10 to attend the competition will be donated to Island City Stage.

Vampire attacks, werewolf sightings, and the resurrection of an Egyptian Princess all make an appearance in “The Mystery of Irma Vep,” a hilarious send-up of gothic romance and horror films in which two actors and lightning, fast costume changes are the stars of the show.

“The Mystery of Irma Vep” is sponsored by Our Fund, the SHS Foundation, the Broward County Cultural Council and Florida Department of State Division of Arts & Culture.
Island City Stage’s 10th anniversary 2021-22 season kicked off with “The Twentieth Century Way” by Tom Jacobson in October, followed by “Armature” by Andrew Kramer and “Suddenly Last Summer” by Tennessee Williams.

CityPlace Doral has partnered with Doral Contemporary Art Museum (DORCAM) once again to offer guests and the local community arts and cultural initiatives at the center throughout spring and summer. To kick off the 2022 programming, CityPlace Doral will present the Second Annual “Fashion Art Design” on Thursday, May 12. The event will feature “art to wear” runway looks and unique fashion sculptural pieces and headdresses that are focused on sustainability and designed by students of Istituto Marangoni and DesignLab Miami. The runway show will consist of a show of lights, music, and a parade of sculptural outfits made of surprising materials and shapes on the roundabout at the center of CityPlace Doral. “Fashion Art Design” will kick off the Doral Fashion Art Design Week event series, taking place in Doral yearly.

DORCAM is committed to education in the arts and supporting up-and-coming designers. DesignLab designers Octavio Aguilar, Celia Ledón and Angie Cohen will participate in the runway show along with student-designers who were mentored by Ledón and Cohen.

During the show, Antonio Drija, author and former Cirque Du Soleil performer, will recap his role as artistic director of the show. DORCAM will stream digital fashion designs by Karina Ochoa de Baker, a 3D apparel designer and the founder of Project Infinito, who was featured in VOGUE Scandinavia for her incredible metaverse fashion shows.

In addition to “Fashion Art Design,” the spring/summer 2022 programming will include two pop-up exhibitions.

“Fashion Power” (Suite 123) | May 12 – July 12, 2022, Open Daily, Times Vary
Fashion Power is a group exhibition that includes works by Barbara Hulanicki, Octavio Aguilar, Lisu Vega and Celia Ledón. Legendary clothing designer Hulanicki is the founder of Biba Shop in London, which became a popular hangout for film stars and rock musicians, including Mick Jagger, Freddy Mercury, David Bowie, among others. Aguilar, also known as DopeTavio, made it to the top ten in Project Runway Season 19. Vega is trained as an experimental graphic designer and has a multidisciplinary approach to art, as her work oscillates between sculpture, installation, and fashion. Ledón is an industrial designer. Her creations, not meant to be worn, straddle the boundaries between the fashion world and sculpture. The variety of materials used for the construction of her clothes make for truly theatrical pieces.

“Urban Art” (Suite 150) | May 12 – July 12, 2022, Open Daily, Times Vary
Urban Art is presented in collaboration with David Rosen Galleries and Naif International Gallery. Both galleries have years of experience in the world of art and this exhibition promises to be an exciting addition to the festivities at CityPlace Doral. Featured artists include Marcos Varonese, Jordi Mollá, Domingo Zapata, Angelina Roma, Penny Boyd, Sebastián Castella, and Giuseppe Ferlito.

Treading on Thin Ice contemplates human conditions under progressive catastrophes resulting from social issues and climate change. By employing the concept of landscape as traces of human history as a battleground and an extension of the human body, Lin presents a post-landscape where nature, human activities, and materiality intersect. By utilizing body imagery as a receiver and reflector, the artist explores using our physical bodies as vehicles for reconstructing the events and environments to which we have directly or indirectly been exposed. The project integrates sculpture, video projections, and sound into a large site-specific installation.

Internationally-acclaimed African street and studio artist Faith XLVII will be at the Museum of Graffiti to release a limited edition print of her original work entitled Chant II, a piece featured in the museum’s permanent collection. Chant II speaks to the arson attacks on commuter trains in her native South Africa which severely impacted members of the working class who rely so heavily on the public transportation system. According to Faith XLVII, “The work begs to question the insanity of how, in a time when we as a society most need to nurture and grow and heal, continue to burn and rage and decimate.” Concerns of the human condition appear repeatedly in Faith’s works which can be found in exhibitions and collections around the world.

The print is 18” x 24” on Moab Entrada Rag Natural 290 gsm paper. Limited Edition of 100. Prints will also be available online beginning May 6, 2022 at www.museumofgraffiti.com/shop

Faith will also be signing copies of her book, Ex Animo: 2010 -2018 The Work of Faith Forty Seven.

What happens when one of New York’s iconic Modern Dance ensembles, the Limón Dance Company, joins forces with one of Florida’s leading contemporary groups, Dance NOW! Miami? A powerful series of joint performances across three counties, with additional educational and community events, that will make local dance lovers swoon. The two companies will share the stage for Program III of Dance NOW’s season on Thursday, May 12, at Lake Worth’s Duncan Theater, on Friday, May 13 at Broward Center’s Amaturo Theater, and on Saturday, May 14, at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center. The programs will include a collaboration between the two groups, along with pieces from each separately.

At all dates, the Limón and Dance NOW! companies will jointly perform The Waldstein Sonata, a 1971 unfinished work from Limón completed after his death by Dr. Daniel Lewis, former Limón Artistic Director and the Founding Dean of the Dance Department at the New World School of the Arts. Lewis, with Nancy Jordan, former Julliard faculty member, will restage the work with both companies.

Dance NOW! Miami will present two works on their own. The first is a Limón classic that Lewis previously restaged on them, La Malinche, about the real life story of an indigenous Nahua woman who played a key role in the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire, a legendary character in Mexican cultural history. They will also reprise their recent piece, choreographed by Hannah Baumgarten and Dance NOW! Miami Artistic Co-Director Diego Salterini, Anusim, What is Hidden is Never Lost, depicting a rarely told story in Jewish history about the 1497 decree in Portugal forcing all Jews to be baptized as “New Christians.”

Reserved seating tickets are $50, and $20 for students, with IDs. Advance tickets can be purchased only at www.dancenowmiami.org. The three venues are all fully wheelchair accessible, with adjacent parking. Everyone’s favorite cat comes to mischievous life in a lively, engaging theatrical adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat in the Amaturo Theater on Saturday, April 30 at 10:30 a.m. From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat that they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and the craziest of ideas, he is certainly loads of fun. He turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure – but what will mum find when she gets home?
General admission is $10 until the week of the show and then $15. Lap tickets for children 12 months and under are available for $5. Buy tickets online at BrowardCenter.org, by phone at 954.462.0222 or in person at the Broward Center’s AutoNation Box Office.
This performance is intended to create a welcoming and supportive environment for children and adults on the autism spectrum as well as for individuals with other sensitivity issues or developmental disabilities. Slight adjustments are made to the production including reduced sound levels, no flashing or strobe lights and minimal special effects. As a plus, a pre-show arts and crafts activity with Young At Art Museum will take place before the performance, plus a post-show meet and greet with the cast of the show.
To provide additional comfort for attendees and their families, an area adjacent to the theater is designated as a quiet room with specially trained volunteers to provide audience support. Patrons may bring their own headphones, fidgets and other calming items into the theater or borrow these items at the theater. Ticket buyers will receive an email prior to the performance with a link to a character guide and short video about attending the theater.
The Broward Center’s sensory-inclusive programming is made possible through the generous support of the Taft Foundation with special thanks to UM-NSU CARD for their in-kind support.

A powerful series of joint performances across three counties, with additional educational and community events, that will make local dance lovers swoon. They will also reprise their recent piece, choreographed by Hannah Baumgarten and Dance NOW! The Summer Institute also offers a wide variety of enrichment and reinforcement programs for Middle School (grades 6-8) and Lower School (Pre-K 3 to 5th grade) students as well as one-on-one tutoring options for those looking to enhance their skills and build confidence as we head into the new school year.

In addition to Day Camp, specialty camps vary by campus, and include Robotics, Art, Science, Musical Theatre, Video Production and Sports camps. Each camper enjoys age-appropriate activities supervised by American Heritage Schools’ highly qualified staff.

Cabins for ages 3-5 are co-ed, while ages 6-13 have separate cabins for boys and girls. All cabins, which are classrooms during the school year, are air conditioned and campers take pride in decorating them to reflect the cabin’s theme.

To expand the number of recreational activities available to campers ages 8-13, age-appropriate field trips are scheduled. All field trips are supervised by Off-Campus Directors as well as an appropriate number of counselors. Prior to starting camp, campers will receive a schedule of activities.

American Heritage offers Free bus transportation from central locations throughout the tri-county area.

The summer camps are directed by state certified teachers and college or high school students who have been carefully screened by American Heritage Schools. Many of the counselors are students or alumni of the school or have been campers or Counselors In Training (CITs) for a number of years. They are well-trained in safety and camp policies.

South Florida Organizations Partner in Unity
New Alliance Invites Public to Join the Movement

With an eye toward inspiring unity and cooperation across the public, MCCJ met with South Florida community leaders and organizations to form an alliance that will embody the belief that we’re better off united, regardless of race, color, religion, origin, and political affiliation. Yearning for the days when people had constructive conversations despite having differences and determined to bring those days back to vibrant life, this newly formed alliance has planned a march for May 15, 2022, at 3PM in Downtown Miami, and it is inviting the community to join in their efforts.

The main thrust of “We Are United” is to show that we are proud of and united in our differences and what makes us unique; that we wish to operate with compassion, care towards one another, and remain supportive of each other with respect and in celebration of these differences. It aims to tackle hate and divisiveness, by clearly demonstrating that people are better off united. Organizers plan to make this march an annual event. Over ten entities, including the Office of Mayor Danielle Levine Cava are encouraging additional organizations to join the alliance in hopes of repairing the currently frayed social fabric. “Sadly, we’re at the point where almost anything can turn into a topic of division, and it’s only getting worse,” states Matt Anderson, MCCJ executive director. “We profoundly believe every person has the right to live in dignity and enjoy respect, regardless of race, gender, faith, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability or socioeconomic status. For that reason, we aspire to make Miami a model of intercultural understanding.”

On May 15th, MCCJ and this newly formed alliance will assemble at The Freedom Tower at 3:00PM. The march will officially begin at 3:45PM. People are expected to make it The Underline (right near Brickell station) by 4:40PM. At that point, there will be a performance by Guitars Over Guns followed by speeches from key figures. The event ends at 6PM.

WHEN:
Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 3PM

WHERE:
Meet at Freedom Tower in Downtown Miami at 600 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132. The march will end at The Underline at SW 1st Ave, Miami, FL 33130

REGISTRATION:
The event is free, but people are asked to register via Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/38EtmAV

WE ARE UNITED PARTNERS:
American Jewish Committee, Books & Books, COSMOS, Jewish Community Relations Council of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Love the Everglades, MCCJ, Miami-Dade College, Miami Herald, Office of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, The Underline, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami, and YWCA.

ABOUT MCCJ:
MCCJ, Inc. was originally founded in Miami in 1935 as the Miami Branch of the National Conference of Christians & Jews. Later, the group was renamed the Miami Coalition of Christians and Jews. In 2011, in recognition of its embrace of people of ALL faiths and secular backgrounds, the organization formally changed its name to MCCJ, Inc. Today, it goes beyond its original intent by creating a haven for dialog, training inclusive leaders and promoting understanding for all faiths, races and cultures through education, advocacy, and conflict resolution. It hosts the oldest continuous interfaith clergy dialog in the United States and presents prejudice reducing programs in local high schools, among other activities. ABOUT FRIENDS OF THE UNDERLINE:

The final chamber music concert of the season has the New World Symphony Fellows’ talent and exuberance on full display. Franz Schubert’s Octet is inspired by Beethoven, and full of artistry and character that play out like a symphony. The fanfare begins with George Walker’s Music for Brass that blends revered chorales with lively dances. Grammy Award-winner and University of Miami professor Lansing McLoskey describes his “Three Bs” of music not as Bach, Beethoven and Brahms, but Beatles, Bauhaus and Black Flag.

The OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Miami is back – bolder, brighter and in-person! Internationally acclaimed as one of the largest LGBTQ+ cultural festivals in the world, OUTShine returns for its 24th edition to unite the community through premier social events and programs like its Closing Night Film & Awards Celebration on May 1 that inspire, entertain, educate and encourage a sense of community. “Cop Secret (Leyniliogga)” (2021) (Iceland) will close out the fest with a 6 p.m. screening at the Sandrell Rivers Theater in Miami. The film will be followed by the annual audience film awards soiree featuring light bites, and open bar by Bacardi and entertainment courtesy of DJ Hottpants.

Cop movie clichés have been sent-up before, but this Icelandic action comedy takes the homoerotic subtext of so many buddy movies and unapologetically comes “out” all guns blazing. Rival law enforcers, rough-edged Bussi and slick hunky, ex-model Hördur reluctantly join forces to stop criminal mastermind Rikki Ferrari. Desperate as they are to stop Ferrari’s bank heists, they may just, despite Bússi’s initial denial, want each other even more. Cop Secret embraces the genre’s more ludicrous tropes and gleefully squeezes them tighter. While a hard-hitting action flick, at its core is a tender romance. If Michael Bay made a gay Lethal Weapon…this would be what it looks like.

OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Miami’s 2022 line-up features more than 45 international features and documentary screenings, panel discussions, three shorts programs, exclusive virtual showings, Cocktails & Cinema Happy Hours and incredible parties across various venues in Miami-Dade County through May 1.

OUTrageous, OUTspoken, and OUTstanding, the 24th annual OUTshine Film Festival Miami is presented by Lexus, Gilead and Miami-Dade County.

Tickets for the Closing Film and Awards Afterparty are $35 and are available at www.outshinefilm.com. For additional information, call 877-766-8156 or visit outshinefilm.com. Follow us on Facebook @OUTshineFilmFestival, on Twitter @OUTshineFilm and on Instagram @OUTshineFilm.

Few artists can claim a heritage that is as diverse and richly layered as Haitian American musician Leyla McCalla. In Breaking the Thermometer to Hide the Fever McCalla finds inspiration from her past and present as she debuts a new multidisciplinary performance exploring the legacy of Radio Haiti-Inter, Haiti’s first privately owned Creole-speaking radio station. The work weaves together arrangements of Haitian songs, traditional dances, audio and video recordings and Leyla’s own personal storytelling. Through this juxtaposition of voices — the personal and political, the anecdotal and the journalistic — Leyla gives expression to the enduring spirit of Haiti’s people.

They will also reprise their recent piece, choreographed by Hannah Baumgarten and Dance NOW! Notably, the first bar in New York City owned and operated by women for women, Sahara was also the first upscale women’s club that showcased women in art, politics, and music.

Beginning at 7PM, on Wednesday, April 27th, El Tucán, the vibrant Brickell supper club will be featuring LIVE music, seductive performances, and an exclusively curated menu, poised to be nothing short of incredible. To commemorate this lively evening with the utmost glamour and extravagance it deserves, El Tucán will be hosting the ever-so iconic Carmen Carrera – TV personality star and transgender rights activist – who will take the stage to enchant guests with a stimulating burlesque performance. Diners are welcome to order a la carte as well.

In support of our LGBT+ community, a portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated to Equality Florida, a non-profit organization, dedicated to securing full equality for Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community.

American Academy to Host “Mindfulness and Your Child” Featuring Expert Author and Instructor Piero Falci 5/19/22

American Academy to Host “Mindfulness and Your Child” Featuring Expert Author and Instructor Piero Falci
Thursday, 05/19/2022-, 07:00 pm-08:00 pm
Website
Cost: Free

American Academy, a program within American Heritage Schools, is pleased to host “Mindfulness and Your Child,” a virtual event via Zoom on Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m. This event is part of American Academy’s monthly program, “Experts in Learning Differences” speaker series. Hosted by Alexandra Rollins, admissions director of the American Academy Program, the expert speaker for the May event is Piero Falci, an author and educator of mindfulness meditation and mindful living.

Mindfulness is a word that means different things to different people. During this event, Falci will explain why it is important to help children practice mindfulness meditation and prepare them to live more mindfully. He equates mindfulness to a sport in which mindfulness meditation is the practice, and mindful living is the game. While practice is important, what one does in practice is of less consequence than their performance during the game. Viewers will truly be inspired by Falci’s wisdom and learn valuable strategies for children to embrace life and become better human beings.

“There is a lot of violence and insanity in the world, and I am convinced that mindfulness is an antidote to that. I am devoted to helping individuals have insights that may expand their selflessness and compassion and lead to the growth of kindness and care for all sentient beings and the natural environment,” said Falci.

Falci is an educator of mindfulness meditation and mindful living and several well-established programs, such as the acclaimed Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program. He received his training from the teachers at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and his MBSR Teacher Certification at the Mindfulness Center at Brown University School of Public Health. He also teaches the Mind-Body Skills Group (MBSG) Program developed by the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, as well as the Mindfulness in Schools Project’s .b (DOT-BE) curriculum for teenagers. He has written several books and offers a variety of mindfulness courses on how to apply mindfulness for the improvement of life.

The speaker series is streamed live virtually, as well as available for viewing following each event. The purpose of the speaker series is to educate families about topics that relate to mild learning differences and are relevant today. All of the speakers are experts in the various disciplines of each topic. The American Academy’s goal is to provide families with a safe space to ask questions and strengthen their knowledge about how to ensure the success of their child.
