Join the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) for an afternoon filled with music, dance, and community!

Experience the vibrant rhythms and energy of Afro-Cuban music and dance at the Freedom Tower, featuring Clave y Cuba and Carne Viva Dance Theatre.

Come celebrate culture, creativity, and community with us at the historic Freedom Tower.

The program opens with “Cantemos Juntos,” an interactive storytelling and rumba sing-along led by Clave Y Cuba founder Ivan “Shie” Moreno, inviting guests of all ages into the rhythmic heart of Cuban folkloric music. The evening builds into a live Afro-Cuban rumba performance by Clave Y Cuba’s ensemble of musicians and singers, a collaborative movement performance by Carne Viva Dance Theatre featuring original choreography.

Born in Havana and deeply connected to Cuba’s heartbeat, Ivan’s lifelong journey as an artist, musician, and cultural bearer inspired him to create a space where ancestral traditions could continue to thrive and be shared with the world.

Through performances, workshops, and community gatherings, Clave Y Cuba brings together artists and audiences to honor ancestral knowledge, uplift cultural ambassadors, and create joyful spaces of learning, connection, and celebration.

Carne Viva Dance Theatre was founded by Chachi Perez. Chachi attended Miami Dade College under the direction of Michelle Grant Murray. She received her BFA at the University of The Arts in Philadelphia and is trained in jazz, Ballet, Afro-Cuban, and a concentration in modern and improvisational practices.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Event attendees may park for free in the MDC Lot 1 on the south side of the Freedom Tower, between NE Fifth and NE Sixth Streets.

The Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at MDC may document the event, including its attendees. By entering the area, and/or participating in the event, you consent to the recording and its use in any form.

Light refreshments will be served.
