Join us as we officially kick off a new season at FAB and bring our members, partners and friends from across Broward’s arts community together.
5–6 PM | Cocktail Reception
We’ll begin on Northern Trust’s beautiful terrace overlooking Las Olas with cocktails and delicious bites. Reconnect with fellow FAB members, welcome some of our newest members and mingle with friends from our local arts and cultural community.
6–7 PM | Season Kickoff Program
FAB President Denise St. Patrick Bell will welcome guests and share an overview of the year ahead, share a very special announcement, and learn what’s taking shape for FAB, our members and the arts organizations we support. We’ll also have a special live performance by a FAB grantee, giving us an opportunity to experience firsthand the artists and organizations our collective support helps make possible.

On Wednesday, October 28, treat your pup to a special spooky edition of Paws Patio™ as InterContinental Miami hosts its fourth annual free Howl-O-Ween Doggie Contest. Get in the Halloween spirit on the Bayside Terrace from 5PM to 7:30PM, where dogs and humans are encouraged to wear their best Halloween costumes for a chance to win some paw-some prizes including a luxury stay (and barking rights). The tail-waggin’ good time is hosted by dog influencer Disco the Shih and includes free Puppuccinos and more fun surprises.

Galleria Fort Lauderdale presents The Poppy Project Pop-Up Living Garden in support of Henderson Behavioral Health (HBH) in collaboration with the USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD28) Support Committee. This public art initiative is designed to honor veterans while raising awareness and funds for critical mental health services. Shoppers can take colorful photos and selfies to share online and connect with and donate to HBH’s virtual Legacy Wall which encourages friends and families to honor loved ones who have served or are currently serving our country. The cherished photo opportunity with the larger-than-life artistic poppy flowers will run through November 10 at Galleria Fort Lauderdale (2414 East Sunrise Blvd.).

Designed by South Florida based Ingham Landscaping and presented by Galleria Fort Lauderdale, the two-month living garden will be a colorful and lively setting featuring the five-and 6-foot striking handcrafted fiberglass poppy flowers which are a remembrance of those who protect and serve our country. The inside mall garden will include a variety of tropical ornamental plants and shrubs that will complement the artistic poppy works of art.

Adding to the installation, will be “Soldier Stories,” an exclusive exhibition by award-winning artist Marilyn Johansen honoring veterans and the military. Visitors will also be encouraged to select free postcards and add a personal message to current servicemen and women. This special moment is arranged by the USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD28) Support Committee. Special retail offers will coincide with this community project.

Inspired by the poppy’s historical significance as a symbol of sacrifice, rooted in the World War I poem “In Flanders Fields,” and later adopted as a national emblem of remembrance, HBH’s The Poppy Project brings this tradition to life in a local and meaningful way.

The effort is sponsored by key community partners and supporters including The Leo Goodwin Foundation, Arlene Pecora, the Henderson Behavioral Health Board of Directors, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD28) Support Committee, Community Foundation of Broward, Disabled American Veterans-Gold Coast Chapter 133, Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale and Galleria Fort Lauderdale.

The Guy Harvey Foundation (GHF), a not-for-profit entity dedicated to protecting marine life and introducing the next generation to the ocean through education and scientific research, will host its 18th annual “Love the Blue” Gala, themed Panama Paradise, on Wednesday, October 28 at the Lauderdale Yacht Club, 1725 SE 12th Street in Fort Lauderdale. All proceeds from the event will benefit the GHF’s ocean research and education initiatives.

The celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, followed by dinner, the awards presentation, and a live auction. Both silent and live auctions will feature original Guy Harvey artwork, exclusive trips and unique gift items.

Foundation CEO Jessica Harvey and world-renowned artist, scientist, conservationist and GHF Founder/Chair Emeritus, Dr. Guy Harvey, will once again co-host and share highlights of achievements and progress in research and education during the past year as well as captivating stories of their recent ocean expeditions.
