In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Feeding South Florida® – the leading hunger-relief organization in South Florida – will host “Tacos & Tequila” at its Pembroke Park Warehouse on Saturday, May 4, from 2–6 p.m. The outdoor festival will feature tacos, tequila cocktails, live music and family-friendly activities to support Feeding South Florida’s mission to end hunger in South Florida.
Guests will enjoy an assortment of delectable tacos and delicious tequila cocktails crafted by some of South Florida’s finest bars, restaurants and food trucks. Participating tequila and culinary partners will compete for the titles of “Best Taco” and “Best Tequila Cocktail.” Featured tequilas include Teremana Tequila, Moët, Hennessy and Palma Cerveza and featured food partners include bartaco, Chef Chris Valdes, Rainbow-licious Deelites and Feeding South Florida’s Community Kitchen.
The family-friendly event will feature a dedicated kid’s zone, a magical margarita garden and a raffle for the chance to win prizes. Attendees will also enjoy live entertainment, music, salsa dancing and more.
Each general admission ticket is all inclusive of food and drinks, Kid’s Zone, live music and entertainment, and salsa dancing. The VIP ticket includes a private VIP area, premium food and beverages, the margarita garden and more.

Everyone loves dogs; however, police dogs, or K-9s, are a special breed. Instead of enjoying the pampered pet lifestyle, K-9s dedicate their entire lives to working daily to protect and serve citizens in our community along with their fearless handlers. They are considered law enforcement officers, whose duties include constant training, apprehending suspects, and searching for explosives, drugs, and missing persons.
When the K-9s retire, their law enforcement handlers graciously adopt them and continue to care for them, as these K-9s have become their friends for life. Recognizing that the medical and healthcare for these K-9s can get quite costly, the Broward Sheriff’s Foundation has established the Retired K-9 Healthcare Fund. This Fund pays for up to 50% of the wellness care costs for all retired K-9s from any local law enforcement agency in Broward County.
Inspired by a little boy’s passion for animals and art, American Heritage Schools is raising money to “fund this fund” by selling artistic renditions of these fine K-9s. Jackson Laurie, a sophomore at American Heritage Schools, and his parents Dr. Douglas Laurie and Nikki Laurie-Van Allen have partnered with the National Art Honor Society and the award-winning Fine Arts faculty at American Heritage to create artwork of these very K-9 being honored.
American Heritage Schools, Broward Campus, will be hosting a Silent Auction for these original works of art, as well as a limited supply of prints for sale at our K-9 Cause event. 100% of all funds raised from this event will benefit the Broward Sheriff Foundation’s Retired K-9 Relief Fund.

The female form rendered by women artists reflecting 7 unique perspectives with eloquent voices rendered through a visual narrative, a herstory, shared by all women and evolved over millennia.
Through live performance and musical references from Brooklyn to Barbados, “Yankee Bajan” takes audiences on a journey as the family dreams of a Bajan past and a Barbadian future.
The narrative centers around a family that leaves the United States to reconnect with their Bajan roots. It’s a vivid portrayal of the expatriate experience, delivered with passionate live performances and musical references spanning from Brooklyn to Barbados. The play doesn’t just present a journey across the ocean; it’s a journey into the heart of what it means to belong.

Once in the Magic Book Shop though, things take an unexpected turn as the stories in her books magically start to jump to life all around her! Now, all of the pages to Jojo’s books are blank and the characters from her books are running wild in real life!
It’s up to Jojo to retell the stories to get her old friends to go back on the page. While Jojo works to get his favorite characters from her books to go back on to the pages they belong in, she remembers why she loves to read some much in the first place; It’s really FUN! Along the way Jojo starts to realize that all of his books have characters in them who are different, and that being different is what makes them special.
This show artfully weaves its featured books into its thru-line to create a show that both encourages reading and celebrates diversity.

The Lincoln Eatery on Miami Beach is hosting its monthly pop up market with Pop up & Shop up on Sunday, March 27th! The event will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and will feature at least 15 different local women and Black-owned businesses, each selling assorted local Miami-made products that vary from clothes and jewelry to crystals and skincare.
Pop up & Shop up continues the Lincoln Eatery’s mission of bringing local artisans together, creating a sense of community in Miami Beach by highlighting minority-owned businesses and locally-made products. Past events have involved vendors with trendy products such as divine-smelling candles, hand-made bikinis, and dainty jewelry. Bring friends along to shop, graze, sip, or even just snap an Instagram-worthy photo while supporting local businesses and basking in the pink and green covered aesthetic atmosphere!
Guests will also be able to try food from numerous assorted food vendors at the Lincoln Eatery food hall or purchase refreshments and cocktails from the full bar. Ten years after the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps, filmmaker Alan Resnais documented the abandoned grounds of Auschwitz and Majdanek in Night and Fog (Nuit et Brouillard), one of the first cinematic reflections on the Holocaust. Juxtaposing the stillness of the abandoned camps’ empty buildings with haunting wartime footage, Resnais investigates humanity’s capacity for violence and presents the devastating suggestion that such horrors could occur again. After the documentary, there will be an open discussion on understanding historical questions raised in the film and universal questions about justice and humanity. Panelists include Dr. Terrence Peterson, Assistant Professor of History at FIU, and Dr. Oren Stier, Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Director of the Holocaust Studies initiative.

The Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs invites artists, cultural and community non-profit organizations to a series of free workshops introducing and demystifying the County’s cultural grant programs. The Department’s professional staff team will provide detailed information about the competitive funding opportunities offered through the Department, offer examples of strategies and best practices that have proven to be successful in the competitive environment, and suggest other helpful resources available for the cultural community. Italian Staple Hosted Unveiling Event of North Miami Showroom
