Tuesday, March 24, Nomad brings its roster to the forefront with a night that feels more like a private summit than a party. Before the city spins into overdrive, this is where artists, agents, and heads connect over serious music.

Satoshi Tomiie leads the charge. A true pioneer whose legacy runs from “Tears” with Frankie Knuckles to his forward-thinking Abstract Architecture imprint, Satoshi bridges house and techno with the depth of a jazz-trained musician and the precision of a hardware purist. Decades in, he’s still pushing the conversation forward.

Melody represents the RA+RE and Ninkasi ethos with punch and personality. From Berlin’s Club der Visionaere and Hoppetosse to Rex Club in Paris, her sets cut through with electro, breakbeat, and 90s-rooted house and techno pulled from a true digger’s collection.

Ohm Hourani brings Montreal’s experimental edge. Founder of ANOMA and a live performer shaped by jazz and modular exploration, his sound blends organic recordings with intricate engineering. Expect something thoughtful, minimal, and subtly wild.

Kurilo, Ukrainian-born and now NYC-based, rounds out the bill with a vinyl-driven approach rooted in percussion and 90s energy. With over 25 releases and appearances from Europe to Boiler Room Berlin, he delivers raw, focused grooves with real depth.

Redevelopment Agency (CRA) proudly announces the official semi-finalists for The People’s Choice Barbecue Cook-off, a free public event designed to celebrate
Overtown’s rich culinary legacy while creating a transformative business opportunity for a local entrepreneur.

The three semi-finalists competing for the opportunity to lease the fully renovated

Historic People’s Barbecue Building are:

At the conclusion of the competition, one finalist will earn the lease for the historic property — ushering in a new chapter for a landmark that has served Overtown for more than 50 years.

On Monday, March 2, and every Monday in March thereafter from 6PM to 8PM, Noche de Arte will continue its weekly art residency with a special emphasis on Women’s History Month, featuring local artist Yochi Y. Avin. Born in Poland and raised in Israel, Avin is a South Florida–based visual artist and art instructor. She studied fine arts in Israel and Italy, earning her BFA from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, Italy. She is known for her work in painting, drawing, fiber, object-making, installation, and theater. Her practice incorporates aged, reflective, and tactile surfaces, layering archival family photographs with textiles, collage, and delicate textures. Through transparency, repetition, and materiality, her work explores the fragmentation and reconstruction of memory and identity across generations. Avin will be in residence every Monday throughout the month of March, with works available for purchase. Gallery 100 is located in the heart of the hotel’s lobby and is open daily.

The Olga M. and Carlos A. Saladrigas Gallery at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School proudly announces the opening of The Light of the World, a Christ-centered art exhibition exploring the depiction of Jesus Christ across centuries and cultures. The exhibition will be on view from March 12 through May 6, 2026.

A Journey Through Sacred Art

For nearly two thousand years, artists have interpreted the figure of Jesus Christ—shaping some of history’s most profound and visually stunning masterpieces. The Light of the World invites visitors to experience this rich tradition, featuring paintings, sculptures, and drawings from the 16th century to today. The exhibition brings together Russian icons, Renaissance works, paintings from the Cuzco School, late 19th- and early 20th-century Latin American art, and contemporary works by local and international artists—including icons created as prayers in the 21st century.

Curated by Carol Damian, Ph.D., and Adriana Herrera, Ph.D., the exhibition offers an immersive journey through the story of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of artists from Europe, Russia, South America, and the United States.

The Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID) will present “A Morning Coffee with Clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein,” a FREE one-hour live classical music performance on the Panther Coffee Wynwood patio. Fiterstein will be joined by pianist Yianni Iliadis, performing alongside him for an intimate, relaxed, slow-morning program. Admission is free, but attendance is limited to 50 guests and RSVP is required.
Widely regarded as one of today’s most exceptional clarinetists, Alexander Fiterstein has performed in recital with distinguished orchestras and with chamber music ensembles throughout the world. He won First Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Clarinet Competition and received the Avery Fisher Career Grant Award.
Pianist Yianni Iliadis has enjoyed concerto performances, solo recitals and chamber music in the U.S. and abroad. An avid piano teacher in the community, he serves as President of the Miami Music Teachers Association and is a part-time Lecturer at the Frost School of Music (University of Miami).
Hosted at one of Wynwood’s best-known café patios, the event offers an easy, welcoming way to enjoy live classical music in a casual, community setting.

Take steps against hunger! On Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, Feeding South Florida®, the leading hunger-relief organization in South Florida, will host its Annual Outrun Hunger 5K Miami. Runners, walkers, families and community leaders of all ages will come together to take steps to raise funds and awareness to end hunger in South Florida at Tropical Park in Miami.

Currently, in South Florida, there are over 1.7 million food-insecure individuals, and one in nine individuals in South Florida remains uncertain about where they will get their next meal due to inflation, the strained supply chain, rising fuel prices, and increased housing costs, among other factors.

Registration is currently open to all four counties that Feeding South Florida serves, including Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe.

Participants can join the event as an individual or a team. Those not participating in the race may also support the organization by creating a personalized fundraising page when they register.

The Bay Harbor Islands Arts Festival returns for the fourth year to the heart of downtown Bay Harbor Islands at the beautiful Kane Concourse. In partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) will spread holiday cheer by giving away 200 five-foot Christmas trees and LED energy-efficient tree lights to local residents. The trees and lights will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and supplies are limited to the first 200 households. FPL will also be on site to share tips and resources to help customers keep their bills as low as possible all season long with simple energy-efficient changes.

For over 75 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade has sold Christmas trees, poinsettias and wreaths to help bring holiday cheer into South Florida homes and to create great futures for Miami-Dade youth. Proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s crucial programs and services at its six Clubs and sites combined including its educational after-school programs, tutoring and homework assistance, STEM, recreation, dance, arts and crafts, mentoring and summer and athletic programs. Give a little, change a lot! For 75 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s beloved Christmas Tree Lot has been a cherished holiday tradition, spreading joy and the magic of the season to families across South Florida while creating great futures for Miami-Dade youth.

The tradition continues with the Thoma Bravo Christmas Tree Lot at Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s Hank Kline Club, open seven days a week, starting Monday, Nov. 24, until trees are sold out. Devoted supporter, Thoma Bravo, is sponsoring the tree lot for the third consecutive year.

To kick off the holiday season, and commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Christmas Tree Lot, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade will host a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Nov. 24, at 4 p.m. Miami dignitaries, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade board members, representatives from Thoma Bravo, youth members and Santa Claus himself will attend to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.

All Fraser fir trees are hand-selected by Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s President Alex Rodriguez-Roig in North Carolina and stand 5-feet to 14-feet tall with a starting price of $65. Poinsettias will also be available starting at $15. Shoppers will also have the opportunity to Sponsor-A-Child to help make a positive impact in the life of a Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade youth member.

The Thoma Bravo Christmas Tree Lot will be open on Thanksgiving Day as well as Black Friday. Every Black Friday, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade sells a tree on average every 63 seconds.

Proceeds from tree and poinsettia sales and Sponsor-A-Child will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s life-changing academic, creative, and athletic programs for local children and teens. From one-on-one mentoring and STEM education to tutoring, sports, and the arts, proceeds help fund the Clubs’ mission to help every child reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

This November, Noche de Arte returns to where it all began—with the artists who started it all. Co-founders Jean Blackwell Font and Ignacio “Iggy” Font bring their creative partnership full circle in an intimate exhibition that reveals the origin story of collaboARTive through their individual works.

Full Circle celebrates the journey from two artists sharing a vision to a thriving community of 400 artists and a movement that has touched thousands. Through Jean’s exploration of inherited memory and Iggy’s meditation on transformation and renewal, the exhibition explores the themes that sparked collaboARTive in 2017: connection, accessibility, and the transformative power of creating.

For Jean and Iggy, what they do and say through collaboARTive is integral to the work they make. The organization embodies the same philosophy that drives their art: everyone has value, everyone has meaning.

The Work
Jean Blackwell Font: 15 Generations
Since 2010, Jean has developed her 15 Generations project to connect people of all historical backgrounds to each other and to their origins. Through personal interviews, oral history, photography, collagraphy, collage, and assemblage, this ongoing body of work stretches across oceans to Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

For this exhibition, Jean focuses on epigenetic trauma—the complex emotions and stories embedded within human DNA and passed through generations. Using assemblage, mixed media, printmaking, and collage, she creates an immersive visual experience that is both universal and deeply personal. Her work strengthens the understanding that we are a universal family, connected by bloodlines, language, shared traditions, and dedication to family—traits that bind every living being together.

Ignacio Font: Structures Series
Iggy’s Structures Series offers an accessible entry point into paintings born from human experience—the transformation of trauma into something beautiful that can hang in someone’s living room. Rather than focusing on the emotional weight, the series invites viewers to explore structure: the words that manifest each piece, the imperfect geometric lines that build the foundation, and the materials that carry the work’s deepest meaning.

Manifestations Structure emerged from the romantic notion of manifesting larger space for collaboARTive—space that belongs to the artists, where they can take care of each other and thrive.

Broken Structure gives new life to damaged canvases—sliced, torn, neglected, even partially eaten by rats. Old canvases abandoned by other artists, stiff canvas unused for years, gauze mesh forgotten in storage—materials that have outlived their original purpose become perfect for something new. The work is stopped at the point where it’s ready to be worked on—not complete, but good enough. The broken parts give us our strength and uniqueness.

The Structures Series embodies the same principle that built collaboARTive: making art from things that have been overlooked or neglected, giving value to what others discard, and recognizing that what’s been broken might be exactly what someone needs to thrive. Everyone has value. Everyone has meaning.

The Origin Story
In 2017, Jean and Iggy recognized a critical gap in Miami’s arts ecosystem: emerging and mid-career artists were being priced out of studio spaces and creative opportunities. They envisioned something different—a place where artists could work affordably, connect authentically, and build sustainable creative practices together.

This exhibition brings their journey full circle, celebrating not just where collaboARTive has been, but where it’s going— building Miami’s most welcoming creative community. What they do and say through collaboARTive is integral to the work they make: everyone has value, everyone has meaning.

Brévo Theatre brings back Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity for its second annual production — an inspiring, gospel-filled retelling of the Nativity story that celebrates Black culture, community, and spirit. This year’s expanded run spans two counties, with performances Dec. 11–14 at the Sandrell Rivers Theater in Miami and Dec. 18–21 at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale. The season begins with a special concert version Dec. 6 at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center.

Directed by Brévo co-founder Zaylin Yates with choreography by Terrence “TM” Pride, the vibrant production features live gospel music, dynamic choreography, and colorful African-inspired costuming. On Monday, October 27, Amaranta Martinez and Wildy Martinez will create live works inspired by Celia Cruz. Two organizations, one mission: second chances. In celebration of National Happy Cat Month, celebrated in September, PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary and Abandoned Pet Rescue are collaborating to host Thrifty Kitty Pop-Up Boutique on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The evening will begin with a sneak peek from 4 to 5 p.m. and general admission will open from 5 to 8 p.m.

The community is invited to an evening of shopping, style and second chances to benefit PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary and Abandoned Pet Rescue. Supporters can Buy-A-Bag, Fill-A-Bag with a selection of men’s and women’s fashion to help give cats and dogs a second chance at life. Admission is free. Full bags are $50, and half bags are $25. Luxury brands and wedding dresses are not included in the Buy-A-Bag, Fill-A-Bag, and will be available for purchase at thrift pricing.

Shoppers will also have the opportunity to meet adoptable cats and dogs looking for their furrr-ever homes and a second chance at love. Future pet parents can fill out adoption applications at the event.

“Partnering with Abandoned Pet Rescue for this event means twice the impact for animals in need,” said Executive Director of PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary Michelle Schecht. “Every bag purchased at Thrifty Kitty Pop-Up Boutique helps give cats and dogs a second chance at life, while also connecting future pet parents with their forever companions.”
Proceeds from the event will be equally split between PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary and Abandoned Pet Rescue, ensuring both organizations can continue their lifesaving work.

Founded in 2018, PURRR Adoption + Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to transform cats’ lives one PURRR at a time, through rescue, adoption, and spay and neuter initiatives that help reduce overpopulation and ultimately enrich the human-feline connection.
