The Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation Shelter Build 1/10/09

FROM: The Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation

This coming Saturday, the 10th of January, we will be sponsoring a rebuilding of the shelter at Raphael’s shelter (The Animal Lover’s Help & Rescue Mission) starting at 10:00 a.m. It is located at 2460 West 2nd Avenue, Hialeah, Fl. 33011. If you would like to come and participate please confirm at 786-499-1278 or this e mail.

Raphael has over 150 dogs and cats at his shelter, with no donations, no volunteers and all out of his pocket. He is a non-profit 501c3 org. He is the “place” where folks either turn in animals or literally dump them at the shelter. Some of our members, including yours truly, were there yesterday helping and sizing up the situation. We have over 30 kids doing Community Hours that will be participating, along all our org members. However, we need materials such as: cement, paint, tools, lumber, nails, drills, gardening tools and equipment, gravel rocks, a large carp or tent, dog & cat toys, shampoos, flea & tick meds, dog houses or igloos, a large shed, cat & dog food, dog collars & leashes, dog brushes, …well you get the picture. All supplies may be dropped of there or we will pick up. They may also be brought on Saturday. We also need a “lunch” sponsor; those kids will be hungry about mid day…

We also need hands on carpenters, plumbers, gardeners, roofers, contractors, name it…Noah’s Ark wouldn’t be a bad idea…if you have or know of companies willing to donate goods…we can give them the 501c3 forms for write offs.

If there’s any media who would like to cover or promote this…please contact me directly. It would be greatly appreciated…

Last but not least…if the City of Hialeah would like to help out…also contact me directly…

Looking forward to a successful rebuilding and your participation in such!

Respectfully,
Dahlia Canes
The Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation.

Director Michael Bay United Way Event 12/27/08

Happy Holidays from Michail Capponi:

From the bottom of my heart I wanted to wish all of you very happy holidays.

As most of you will recall, last year around the holidays, we launched an annual event called “A Toast to United Way” to raise much needed funds for our community. Last year’s inaugural event festivities extended over four-days, with celebrations at more than a dozen elite venues on South Beach including Cameo, China Grill, Florida Room, The Forge, Glass, Mansion, Mokai, Mynt, Opium Garden, Prive, Rokbar, Sagamore Hotel, SET, Snatch and Suite.

I am once again chairing this event for United Way. This year, film director Michael Bay was gracious enough to open up his beautiful home, the former Hogan estate renovated by Capponi Group, for our 2nd Annual “A Toast to United Way”. The director of such blockbusters as Transformers, Pearl Harbor, and Bad Boys, Bay is serving as the host for the evening.

The invitation-only event will be held at 8 pm, on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Bay’s Miami Beach home. Tickets are $250 per person. VIP tickets, which will allow guests to join Bay and his celebrity guests on a private rooftop lounge, are available for $500 per person. Fine cuisine is graciously catered by The Forge and top shelf drinks generously provided by Diageo. Following the reception, all guests will be invited to an after-party. Proceeds go to support the work of United
Way of Miami-Dade.

As the event chair I am urging you all to come support the United Way and its great causes to help fund over 70 different charities in our Miami-Dade county areas.

Please call Maria Zuniga at 305 646 7020 or email to zuniga@unitedwaymiami.org for tickets.

Thank you, I’m looking forward to see you on the 27th.
