Join Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and Third Horizon Film Festival for the world premiere of the short films of Third Horizon Forward and after party.

Launched in 2023, Third Horizon Forward is an initiative created for filmmakers working out of Miami who trace their lineage to the Caribbean, to interrogate and explore the culture, character, spirit, people, and legacy of the region through film. These short films have an authentic, enduring, and vital connection to the region Third Horizon calls home.

Start your evening with the Short Films of Third Horizon Forward followed by a short conversation with the featured filmmakers. Continue your night on the waterfront terrace for a Locals Only DJ Set featuring Pressure Point and Le Poodle playing live from a traditional dancehall format sound system. Local organizations and artists including Bookleggers, Love the Everglades, Miami Dade Public Library AV Club, and Najja Moon will activate the terrace in celebration of opening night.

History Fort Lauderdale’s third floor resident artists’ collective will present its annual show entitled “Six Perspectives” from May 4 – June 22. The six artists exhibiting are Constance Ivana, Stephanie McMillan, Rucci, Florencia Clement de Grandprey, Jenna Ross and Agneta Anderson. A meet and greet with the artists will take place on Friday, May 10, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the New River Inn Museum of History building on History Fort Lauderdale’s campus. Complimentary light bites and beverages will be provided.

History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, hosts a variety of engaging multicultural experiences, year-round. It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent exhibits including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “The African American Experience,” “Fashion & Musical Theatre,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: the story of boatbuilding along the New River,” Seminole Arts & Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture,” and, “Take PRIDE, a retrospective on LGBTQ life in South Florida.”

“Six Perspectives” is sponsored by the following funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: Jan and Ed Crocker Unrestricted Fund, Leo M. and Alice J. Rutten Fund and The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Broward Community Fund. Additional funding is provided, in part, by Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward County Cultural Council, and Visit Lauderdale. This organization is also sponsored by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Arts & Culture.

History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under. Step into the future and discover the exciting innovations transforming our world with Cities of the Future, now playing in the AutoNation® IMAX® 3D Theater at the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS). Narrated by award-winning actor John Krasinski, Cities of the Future highlights the creative solutions engineers are designing right now to meet the challenges of a changing world and forge a brighter, more sustainable future.

From electric flying cars and aerial highways to smart buildings, greener infrastructure and solar power beamed from space, Cities of the Future offers an inspiring vision of how we will live 50 years from now, combining state-of-the-art CGI with live-action cinematography. The film also looks at modern urban landscapes in the midst of transformation, revealing profound changes already happening in some of the world’s greatest cities, from Los Angeles to Amsterdam to Singapore.

Cities of the Future also introduces viewers to a team of middle school students participating in the Future City Competition, an annual contest where 60,000 middle school students from the U.S. and around the world compete to create a model future city.

Cities of the Future is produced by MacGillivray Freeman Films in partnership with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the same team that created the blockbuster giant screen documentary Dream Big: Engineering Our World.
