The hottest dance ticket in town returns! Back by popular demand, “STUDIO 54 Rewind,” the ultimate disco party presented by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood to benefit FLITE Center, hits the dance floor on Saturday, May 18, from 6 – 10 p.m., at DAER Nightclub.

Party-goers will step back in time to relive the glitz and glamour of the legendary Studio 54 with food, the hottest grooves and live entertainment. All proceeds benefit FLITE Center programs and services, which provide young adults with resources and support to help them transition to independent living. FLITE Center is a one-stop resource center offering all supportive services to youth aging out of foster care, chronically homeless youth, human trafficking survivors, and LGBTQ+ youth.

From the moment guests step inside, they will be transported to a dazzling party atmosphere with popular hits, pulsating lights, champagne toasts, open bar, and gourmet bites. Last year, nationally known entertainers Joe Posa and Michael Dean as Cher made special appearances and this year’s surprise special guests will excite and electrify.

In addition, attendees will leave the event with coveted prizes from a balloon pop and luxury auction. Once the event concludes, guests may continue the party at DAER Nightclub, or choose to explore the many amenities of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood.

History Fort Lauderdale’s third floor resident artists’ collective will present its annual show entitled “Six Perspectives” from May 4 – June 22. The six artists exhibiting are Constance Ivana, Stephanie McMillan, Rucci, Florencia Clement de Grandprey, Jenna Ross and Agneta Anderson. A meet and greet with the artists will take place on Friday, May 10, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the New River Inn Museum of History building on History Fort Lauderdale’s campus. Complimentary light bites and beverages will be provided.

History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, hosts a variety of engaging multicultural experiences, year-round. It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent exhibits including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “The African American Experience,” “Fashion & Musical Theatre,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: the story of boatbuilding along the New River,” Seminole Arts & Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture,” and, “Take PRIDE, a retrospective on LGBTQ life in South Florida.”

“Six Perspectives” is sponsored by the following funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: Jan and Ed Crocker Unrestricted Fund, Leo M. and Alice J. Rutten Fund and The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Broward Community Fund. History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under. Just for early learners (ages 0-6): Engage your little ones in celebrating Asian-Pacific American Heritage with activities tailored for them, including dancing, movement and storytime. Create a Damaru and a Tibetan Flag to commemorate these rich cultures!

Experience South Florida’s award-winning attraction featuring 150,000 square feet of dynamic science exhibits, an outdoor science park, a live animal collection, a rotating schedule of science shows, learning labs, café, store and a grand atrium featuring the Great Gravity Clock, a 52-foot-tall kinetic energy sculpture; the largest clock in Florida. The showpiece of the museum since 1993, this unique timepiece is one of only three in the world.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and NAMI Miami-Dade County – the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness – is hosting the 2024 Walk for Mental Health Awareness on Saturday, May 18 at Zoo Miami(12400 SW 152nd Street, Miami, FL 33177). Thousands from South Florida and the Keys will come together to fuel Mental Health Awareness and raise funds for NAMI’s mission. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. There is no fee to register; however, individual fundraising and team participation are encouraged. Registration is required.
