If you’re looking for a creative space to explore figure drawing, Raw Figs is popping up at Arlo Wynwood on September 19 from 6-8 p.m! Welcome to all skill levels, this self-guided figure drawing session with live models is a collaboration between local artistic communities and allows creative exploration without any pressure. This will be an accessible, fun, laid-back environment to leave attendees happier, more inspired and more in tune with their community. How It Started
The inspiration came from the founder’s time as a flight attendant, where she would draw people at the airport, between flights, to maintain her peace of mind. Raw Figs sprouted as a sanctuary for her, her friends and whomever else seeking to reconnect with their community after having been in lockdown. A place to creatively be in the moment no matter your skill level or where you lie in society’s spectrum. Though, initially, it was planned to be a short term project, the grand alignment created with the community lead us to proudly continue and take hold of this newfound responsibly through figure drawing. Now, Raw Figs continues to grow as the leading figure drawing pop-up experience in South Florida. We push to have most events donation-based to maintain accessibility and aim to push the boundaries of traditional figure drawing.

American Heritage Schools [ahschool.com], the top-ranked PK3 through 12 college preparatory school in Florida, is proud to announce its annual “K-9 Cause: An Evening of Art” auction benefiting the Broward Sheriff’s Foundation’s Retired Canine Relief Fund, on Saturday, April 20.

Everyone loves dogs; however, police dogs, or K-9s, are a special breed. Instead of enjoying the pampered pet lifestyle, K-9s dedicate their entire lives to working daily to protect and serve citizens in our community along with their fearless handlers. They are considered law enforcement officers, whose duties include constant training, apprehending suspects, and searching for explosives, drugs, and missing persons.

When the K-9s retire, their law enforcement handlers graciously adopt them and continue to care for them, as these K-9s have become their friends for life. Recognizing that the medical and healthcare for these K-9s can get quite costly, the Broward Sheriff’s Foundation has established the Retired K-9 Healthcare Fund. This Fund pays for up to 50% of the wellness care costs for all retired K-9s from any local law enforcement agency in Broward County.

Inspired by a little boy’s passion for animals and art, American Heritage Schools is raising money to “fund this fund” by selling artistic renditions of these fine K-9s. Jackson Laurie, a sophomore at American Heritage Schools, and his parents Dr. Douglas Laurie and Nikki Laurie-Van Allen have partnered with the National Art Honor Society and the award-winning Fine Arts faculty at American Heritage to create artwork of these very K-9 being honored.

American Heritage Schools, Broward Campus, will be hosting a Silent Auction for these original works of art, as well as a limited supply of prints for sale at our K-9 Cause event. 100% of all funds raised from this event will benefit the Broward Sheriff Foundation’s Retired K-9 Relief Fund.

Founded by musician/performer Sammy Gonzalez, YMU is a nonprofit organization which supports student music education in Miami Dade County and has served over 11,000 students, supporting its mission of “Giving Students a Voice Through Music.”

1) Golden Hour Margarita
Ingredients:
1.25 oz Mezcal Unión Uno
0.25 oz Chile Liqueur
0.75 oz Clarified lime juice
0.75 oz Golden Milk (turmeric milk) *

Instructions: Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until the cocktail is thoroughly chilled. Strain into rocks glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a dehydrated orange half and a sprig of fresh rosemary.

Garnish: Dehydrated orange half & rosemary

Ice: Cubes

*Golden Milk Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups coconut milk
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch black pepper
1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
Instructions: Add ingredients into a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Give the mixture a good stir and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Make sure to stir it occasionally so that the turmeric powder and cinnamon don’t clump up.

2) El Melocotonero Margarita

Ingredients:
1 oz Mezcal Unión Uno
0.75 oz sherry
0.5 oz peach liqueur
0.5 oz agave nectar
0.5 oz lemon juice
2 dashes of Orange Bitters

Instructions: Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until the cocktail is thoroughly chilled. Strain into rocks glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint speared through a peach ring candy.

In celebration of Black History Month, Arlo Wynwood is launching impactful partnerships with talented local artists Reyna Noriega and Kandy G. Lopez. On Wednesday, February 21, from 6-9 p.m., locals are welcome to explore the work of these talented female artists for an evening of artists talks, networking, live entertainment, and a complimentary glass of champagne.

The artist talks will be led by Octavia Yearwood in the gallery during the opening exhibit of “Our Shadow Remains” by Kandy G. Lopez. The Arlo Living Room Gallery series, created and curated by Jasmine Arakel, was designed to bring fine art pieces typically reserved for museums, galleries and private collections into publicly accessible spaces at Arlo Hotels. Established in 2009 by the legendary placemaker Tony Goldman as an outdoor museum for international street art, Wynwood Walls has become a phenomenon, spurring the creation of murals throughout the Wynwood district and beyond. This October, the Wynwood Walls will once again offer free admission to Miami-Dade residents (with valid ID), and allow an up close look at the awe-inspiring artwork and murals that helped put the Wynwood Walls on the map. New to the Walls, is the solo exhibition Into The Mist by Spanish street artist, DEIH, whose artwork can be found in the GGA Gallery until November. DEIH’s work varies in style resulting in an amalgamation of comic books, skate culture, science fiction, cyber punk and anime. Additionally, visual artist Sandra Chevrier will be onsite October 9-15, creating new mural work depicting captivating portraits of women.

Rainbow Oasiiis and Superblue are proud to present the inaugural Chroma Art Film Festival, a groundbreaking celebration of artistic innovation, immersive experiences, and the power of storytelling. Presented by Rainbow Oasiiis and in partnership with Superblue, the festival will take place on August 12, 2023 supported by Miami-Dade County.
Rainbow Oasiiis, led by multi-dimensional installation artist Haiiileen and visionary curator Shantelle Rodriguez, is Miami’s only artist-led and artist-in-residence program. Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Allapattah, Rainbow Oasiiis offers selected artists a unique work-live space outside of their usual environments. Through mentorship programs and access to Miami’s top artists and art organizations, Rainbow Oasiiis provides a nurturing environment for artists to reflect, research, and produce groundbreaking works.
“Full Spectrum,” the ongoing partnership between Rainbow Oasiiis and Superblue Art Museum, marks a new chapter in experiential artistic events, education, and community outreach. The collaboration aims to create a series of open calls and finite programs that engage and inspire audiences through immersive art experiences.
The Chroma Art Film Festival, as part of “Full Spectrum,” is set to redefine the boundaries of artistic expression. With a visionary approach, the festival will be the first of its kind to include a category dedicated to AI-generated videos. This bold step into the future of art highlights the festival’s commitment to innovation and its mission to provide a platform for artists and filmmakers to explore the limitless possibilities of AI in storytelling.
“We are excited to pioneer the integration of AI into the film festival landscape,” said Rainbow Oasiiis. “By introducing this category, we aim to push the boundaries of creativity, inspire new forms of artistic expression, and showcase the potential of AI as a tool for storytelling.”
The Chroma Art Film Festival, scheduled for August 12, will feature an array of captivating films, including experimental masterpieces, thought-provoking documentaries, mesmerizing animations, and mind-bending virtual reality creations. Audiences will witness the convergence of color, light, sound, and AI-generated narratives, offering a unique and immersive cinematic experience. Our testament to the ongoing commitment of Rainbow Oasiiis and Superblue to fostering creativity, embracing new technologies, and providing a platform for diverse voices in the art community.
CAFFl invites filmmakers, artists, and art enthusiasts to be part of this inaugural event and experience the vibrant fusion of art and film. The Museum of Graffiti is proud to announce the opening of an eco-friendly exhibition presenting art works created with recycled air pollution particles to promote sustainability. The exhibit, entitled Reduce, Reuse, Remix: Graffiti Art for a Better Earth will open on Earth Day, April 22, 2023, and will exclusively present studio pieces of local artists who were seeded AIR-INK writing utensils. AIR-INK technology starts by attaching filters to exhaust pipes on cars, generators, etc. to capture air pollution before it hits the environment. The sequestered soot then goes through a purification process and is converted into ink. The result is that PM 2.5 and PM 10 emissions which would have otherwise been in the lungs of millions of people will now be resting beautifully as art at the Museum of Graffiti. Viewers of the show can expect to see reclaimed found objects in addition to the AIR-INK in some of the pieces.

All participating artists, were gifted the AIR-INK materials to use by Rabble Wine Company, which takes a planet-first mentality in its work by reducing water usage, decreasing pesticides, protecting natural vineyard ecosystems, reducing carbon emissions, and working with, rather than against, Mother Nature. Artists include Miami locals Ahold Sniffs Glue, Abstrk, Krave, Nico, Sero, Gustavo Oviedo, and more.

Join us as Rabble hosts the grand opening celebration, April 22, 2023 at 7:30 PM, where guests can meet the artists, sample Rabble’s responsibly produced wine, take part in sustainable interactive activities, and bid on up-cycled bottle art with 100% of proceeds to benefit The CLEO Institute, the only women-led nonprofit, nonpartisan organization in Florida exclusively dedicated to climate education, advocacy, and engagement.

3D street artist Leon Keer will be debuting his first U.S. exhibition – SEEING THINGS – at the Wynwood Walls Annex Gallery Thursday, March 23. The 27 art piece exhibit reflects on various contradictions in the world without judgment, showcasing metaphors in which major and minor wrongdoing is brought to light.

From 4-9pm, the Wynwood Walls will kick-off Keer’s exhibition with a carnival-themed event, complete with a carousel, dunk tank, food vendors, and a pop-up Wynwood Walls Shop selling exclusive Leon Keer merchandise. Leon will also be doing booking signings from 5-5:30pm.

Women’s History Month is about celebrating women’s contributions, it gives us an opportunity to get a more complete picture of the past to better inform and build our future. In partnership with Art Republic, Arlo Wynwood will highlight Women’s Heritage Month by introducing Already HER, a celebration that brings together dynamic and diverse female artists to showcase their collective works, which create spaces for women to display their power, strength and true voices. Already HER is part of the current quarterly exhibition, Style and Grace and through this activation, includes themed celebrations during Black History Month, Women’s History Month and Earth Day.

The opening event on March 18 will include:

Museum of Graffiti announces the opening of a novel exhibition presenting art works created with air pollution. The exhibit, entitled Reduce, Reuse, Remix: Graffiti Art for a Better Earth will open on Earth Day, April 22, 2023, and will exclusively present studio pieces of local artists who were seeded AIR-INK writing utensils.

All participating artists, were gifted the AIR-INK materials to use by Rabble Wine Company, which takes a planet-first mentality in its work by reducing water usage, decreasing pesticides, protecting natural vineyard ecosystems, reducing carbon emissions, and working with, rather than against, Mother Nature.
 
Rabble will host the grand opening celebration at the Museum of Graffiti on Earth Day, April 22, 2023 at 7:30 PM, where guests can meet the artists, sample its responsibly produced wine, take part in sustainable interactive activities, and bid on up-cycled bottle art with 100% of proceeds to benefit The CLEO Institute, the only women-led nonprofit, nonpartisan organization in Florida exclusively dedicated to climate education, advocacy, and engagement.

State of the Art is the first large scale hybrid installation by ThankYouX— this project reimagines the use of blockchain technology as a medium rather than a tool for distribution.
State of the Art consists of four paintings broken into 400 equal tiles— creating 1600 unique paired physical and digital artworks. Upon launch, participants will all be randomly assigned a singular digital tile corresponding with a section of one of the four paintings. Eventually, collectors will be able to claim the identical physical artwork. Before the physical claim, users will have the ability to work directly with the secondary market to purchase additional, adjacent, and connecting tiles to merge, and eventually claim, a larger section of the canvas.

Red Bull Batalla, the world’s largest Spanish-language freestyle competition, is coming to Miami for the US National Final this Saturday, October 8, in Miami at Soho Studios. This event will feature some of the world’s best rappers, from newcomers to previous winners and established artists. All who began at Red Bull Batalla. This weekend, fans will witness a talented group of 16 MCs as they lock horns in a bracket-style battle in front of a panel of notable judges deeply embedded in the culture. At the end of the battle, the Red Bull Batalla USA Champion will be crowned and head to the World Finals in Mexico City.

The US Finals will be the second Red Bull Batalla event to happen in Wynwood this season, with the first happening just last week. Red Bull hosted the ‘Last Chance Cypher’ at UNKNWN in Wynwood, where over 80 MCs battled for the 16th and final spot in the US Finals after a competitor dropped out. MC ‘Heavy’, who participated in the Dallas qualifier this year, rose to the occasion and outlasted the other MCs and defeated MC ‘El Domi’ to be crowned the final spot. It will be his first time in the US Final.

The US Final event at Soho Studios is this Saturday, October 8th in Wynwood, Miami. Doors open at 7 PM and the battles begin at 8 PM. Tickets are available for purchase for $10.

Red Bull Batalla, the world’s largest Spanish-language freestyle competition, will host a Last Chance Cypher event on Saturday, September 24, at UNKNWN in Wynwood, Miami. The winner of the event will go on to fill the 16th and final space at the US Finals of Red Bull Batalla. In recent years, Red Bull Batalla has become the most important international improvisation battle event that unites the countries of Latin America and Spain. Fans will witness 16 finalists MCs come face-to-face for a chance to be crowned National Champion and represent the USA at the International Final in Mexico City. One of the artist who shaped the graffiti art movement we know and love today is Steven D. Ogburn (b. 1957), better known as Blade, a famed New York-born artist and a proud owner of the title King of the Trains since he painted over five thousand trains with his striking characters and elegant letters. Famous for his whole subway cars, he became an icon of New York City and a hero-figure for the younger generation of street artists. Blade stopped painting trains in 1984 as he felt that he had nothing more to prove. Additionally, he began working in other media including acrylic on canvas, producing artworks suitable for indoor exhibitions that have brought him worldwide recognition. Since 1981 when he had his first one-man exhibition in Europe, Blade has participated in many individual and collective shows in notable venues, such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Cleveland; the Musée national des Monuments Français, Paris; the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Los Angeles; the Groninger Museum in the city of Groningen in the Netherlands, and many others.

Wow your palate with starters like the Tiger’s Milk Oysters, Don’t Be Shellfish (a house cold sampler) or mains like the SoFISHticated (whole fried red snapper for two, matched with house coleslaw, and tostones, or the SEAreal Griller (also for two, a grilled assortment of shrimps, clams, black mussels, scallops, and daily catch an award-winning green sauce), your taste buds will thank you. The varied menu includes many takes on familiar favorites, but reimagined. Chef Karlos Rodriguez Spranger created the menu, and his Peruvian-Portuguese origins definitely make their appearance.

Internationally-acclaimed African street and studio artist Faith XLVII will be at the Museum of Graffiti to release a limited edition print of her original work entitled Chant II, a piece featured in the museum’s permanent collection. Chant II speaks to the arson attacks on commuter trains in her native South Africa which severely impacted members of the working class who rely so heavily on the public transportation system. According to Faith XLVII, “The work begs to question the insanity of how, in a time when we as a society most need to nurture and grow and heal, continue to burn and rage and decimate.” Concerns of the human condition appear repeatedly in Faith’s works which can be found in exhibitions and collections around the world.

Join us for the first public event in our brand new location! We are celebrating the local artist ABSTRK with the release of his collectable vinyl toy, Vampiro, and a Museum of Graffiti exclusive hand embellished print! The Vampiro vinyl collectable is an edition of 200 pieces, and the perfect addition to any collection.

The Tank Brewing will be present and sampling their locally brewed beer. Also, Rabble Wines will be sampling their artisan wine. Holi Miami, an outdoor family friendly event celebrating Spring, is coming to Wynwood. Holi, known as the Festival of Colors, signifies a time for unity, forgiveness and renewal in ancient India.

Festival goers are invited to take part in a traditional coordinated color throw and are encouraged to wear white in anticipation of being covered in the vibrant colors of Holi.

Holi Miami will also feature Indian food, DJs, performances and several kids activities. Bollywood performers, local music and dance groups, and dhol and tabla players are scheduled to perform. Food from Miami favorites Bombay Darbar, Diya and Namaste Miami will be available for sale. Bali Chainani, from the Bravo series Family Karma, will also make an appearance.

The event will be the first celebration of its kind to take place in Wynwood. Holi Miami will be co-hosted by MAIACA, Miami Association of Indian Americans for Culture and the Arts.

When the topic is street art, there is no way around him: Banksy is probably the most famous and also the most mysterious graffiti artist in the world. The approximately 40-year-old Brit successfully keeps his identity secret; his works, however, conquer not only the streets, but also the auction houses of the world. Highly successful, Banksy is regarded as one of the most valuable artists of our time. The Art of Banksy: Without Limits shows more than 155 of the artist’s works, such as his original art, prints on different kinds of materials, photos, sculptures, and much more. Some of his works have even been reproduced with his stencil technique especially for the exhibition. A video documentary will also provide insight into his life and work, all presented in a unique setting. The show promises a genuinely impressing experience, and is a “must see” to celebrate Banksy’s art and carry it out into the wider world.
