John Martin’s Irish Pub & Restaurant is turning up the heat this summer with their hot new addition of “Girlie Nights.” The pub will feature fashion, spa treatments, specialty cocktails and entertainment every Wednesday night, at 7 pm. providing ladies even more fun options, JohnMartins thought they would spice up the average ladies night happy hour.
“Girlie Night” will be catering to the ladies with food, drinks and entertainment from 7– 10 p.m. every Wednesday night. This past Thursday, the Pérez Art Museum (PAMM) Poplife Social featured John Hancock III whose sounds ranged from spaced out Arthur Russell inspired grooves to hyped-up digital calypso.

The third Thursdays Poplife Social have received a very positive response from the community and to meet the growing demand for the series, they have added pre-ticketing and more food and bar stations.

The menu items included Miso Glazed Chicken Skewers, Pork Belly Bao Buns, Grilled Mushroom Bao Buns, Shrimp Chips and Kimchee pickles.

This was the perfect way to enjoy a Thursday evening: Art galleries, live music and great food!

Biscayne Tavern, located at the YVE Hotel Miami, celebrates Miami’s Mercedez Benz Corporate Run on Thursday, April 23rd with promotional brews and bites. The Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run Series is an institution in South Florida and is one of the largest 5K races in the nation. Miami-Dade Reef Guard is a local non-profit charged with protecting the reef by placing mooring buoys for use by the boating public in hopes of reducing anchor damage.

We have an “Adopt-A-Buoy” program and are celebrating our two newest sponsors 1-800 Yacht Charters / 1-800 Bare Boat & The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation

A happy hour with drinks provided by Wicked Dolphin Rum / Mako Vodka and food by Salt Waterfront Restaurant will precede a talk by Reef Guard President, Professor Michael J. Beach, on the wreck of the Half Moon, formerly known as the Germania. This ship has a very interesting and storied past. The site is made more unique by the fact that our sponsor, 1-800 Yacht Charters, has a replica of the vessel within its fleet. Hence the title of the talk “History Comes To Life”!

Suggested donation is $10 and, with it, you are entitled to free food and drinks and entered into a raffle for great door prizes!

The auditorium, graciously donated by the University of Miami, holds 300 people. Lets pack the place!

If there is one thing Miami is doing well, it’s cocktails. Handcrafted cocktail hotspots like the Broken Shaker and Bodega prove that our cocktail scene is innovative and ahead of the curve. Plus, our local mixologists are respected and recognizable figures in the national hospitality circles. Would you expect any less from a top-tier nightlife destination like Miami?

Reyka Vodka brand ambassador, Trevor Schneider, can vouch for Miami’s cocktail credibility. When New York’s very own “cocktail ninja” arrived to our beautiful city last Saturday, he was excited to see that Miami is bringing our mixology A-game. The Broken Shaker, he says, is the prime example of how high Miami is setting the bar. That said, it comes as no surprise that he selected The Broken Shaker as the backdrop for re-introducing Reyka Vodka to the Miami community.

Earlier this week, Trevor invited local influencers to the Freehand Miami for a tasting of classic cocktails reinvented with Reyka Vodka. The menu featured three signature cocktails bound to take Miami by storm: the Reyka Cooler, the Harvest Collins, and the Icelandic Paloma. We loved all three, especially because each one had a distinct claim-to-fame. For example, the Harvest Collins had strawberry-infused vodka that made it dangerously delicious.

The free-flowing drinks, the gorgeous weather, and Trevor’s charisma were all contributing factors to a good time. 27 Restaurant and Bar sealed the deal by furnishing exquisite hors d’oeuvres that, to no one’s surprise, impressed everyone present. Overall the night was an incredible success. We speak for everyone when we say that you’re welcome back any time Reyka Vodka!

UOM was originated in early 2007 as a multi-disciplinary project with emphasis in non- traditional, Vintage and electronic instruments, and performance technique.

This all-embracing approach has taken the project through a path of collaboration with the visual and performing arts. We have performed in Art Centers and galleries, during exhibition openings and artists performances. About Edilberto Aponte
My pieces evoke critical views of social, political and cultural issues. I journal my life’s perspectives and experiences in pencil, ink, and paint-using the canvas as an abstract mirror to reflect my mental images and convey my emotions. The communion of words, lines, or shapes meld on canvas into one-becoming the allusion of my personal reality.
My art consist of abstract drawings in pencil, color, acrylic and ink. My anxious imagination has been inspired by nostalgic memories of my poignant life events, native metropolis of San Juan Puerto Rico and South Florida.

DOC IT’s primary mission is to help find a screening test and/or cure for ovarian cancer. As a matter of fact, ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States and is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among American women.

Miami, FL — August 4, 2014 — Ready, Set, Hike! Football season is quickly approaching and Batch Gastropub is prepping to be Brickell’s go-to bar. The friendly gastropub aims to satisfy everyone’s pallet offering breakfast and lunch and a special gridiron menu featuring gameday favorites every Saturday and Sunday. Batch also features a full bar including 14 craft beers on tap, 21 in bottles, signature cocktails and an expansive wine list. Batch will have food and beverage specials during all Saturday NCAA games and Sunday/Monday football games. Batch is also taking aim at Monday Night Football and will feature aggressive specials only available on that night.

“We want to create a comfortable atmosphere for all customers”, said owner, Kevin Danilo , “Our entire concept revolves around being able to create great guest experiences across a wide demographic”

Staying true to its mantra, Batch has created an atmosphere for fans of all teams, showcasing every game on its 15 flat screen TV’s and 2 large projector screens. Batch created a specific website, www.batchmiami.com/football, which will be launching in mid August and which will allow guests to know what game will be shown on what TV and which game’s audio will be playing. Guests will be able to check the site at the start of each week, find out where in the venue their favorite team is going to be shown and call to reserve a specific tables.

“A lot of our customers mentioned it was hard finding a place to watch their hometown team so they just stayed home, so we wanted to create a way for them to comfortably watch their team at Batch.” Danilo said

During this happy hour we enjoyed recipes from the Fried & True Cook Book which has more than 50 recipes for American’s best fried chicken and wonderful sides.  The recipes we got to enjoyed were: Chef Michelle Bernstein’s Fried Chicken & Watermelon Salad, Chef Dale Talde’s Kung Pao Chicken Wings, Biscuit Love Truck’s East Nasty Biscuit Sandwich, Loveless Cafe’s Hash Brown Casserole and Mary Mac’s Tea Room Tomato Pie.  All were so delicious and I can’t wait to try some of the recipes myself.

I am a self-taught artist that is deeply influenced by the American Abstract Expressionists (Gorky, Hoffman, Pollock, de Kooning, Rothko, and Newman), Post-Impressionist van Gogh and the Neo-expressionists (Guston, Schnabel, and Basquiat). I believe fine art should be available and affordable to the common everyday person.

Jennifer Maria
Jennifer Maria grew up painting and drawing before immersing herself into photography. She intended to use her photographs as references for her paintings, but ended up falling in love with the process of creating and capturing with a camera. She produces mostly digital photography, however, she also delights in creating with black & white film. She happily engages much time, love & care into creating silver gelatin prints in her darkroom. She continues to paint– primarily on canvas, though she also enjoys utilizing the human body as canvas. Jennifer Maria draws inspiration from many sources: her dreams, her loved ones, travels, the ocean and more.

On Saturday, October 12th, Blue Martini Kendall hosted a Happy Hour to benefit the D Amor Foundation. The D Amor Foundation’s mission is to provide hope, and to help children with autism achieve a better quality of life by providing families with resources, educational tools and access to therapies such as speech, occupational, art, music and sensory integration, all of which are integral to managing the disorder. Several companies donated services for a raffle and silent auction. Donations go directly to fund programs for children with autism, including Tae Kwon Do, soccer, music, art and other activities for families affected by the neurodevelopment disorder. The D Amor Foundation was founded by Maria and Jose Montalvo in honor of their son, Diego, who was diagnosed with autism at age 2. Cocktail connoisseurs have another reason to love RA Sushi South Miami with the arrival its new beverage program, which includes $6 Moshi Mojito, available in traditional, mango or strawberry, throughout September in honor of Moshi Mojito Month.

The Pubbelly team’s popular Italian eatery, Macchialina Taverna Rustica, has joined forces with local craft brewer Gravity Brewlab to host their first-ever Craft Beer Happy Hour.

Offered in the bar area only, guests can walk up to a special carving station and order Chef/Owner Michael Pirolo’s sandwich of house-made, hand-carved porchetta with topping choices such as crispy potatoes, pepperonta, or broccolini, served on a fresh baguette, while sipping on Gravity Brewlab’s Saizonetta beer. Created just for Macchialina to pair the porchetta, the traditional Belgian farmhouse ale, offered along with the sandwich for $5, is brewed with the uncooked semolina grain from Macchialina.

The monumental first keg tapping will occur during the event by the brewmaster himself, Diego Ganoza, who will also be on-site to mingle, taste and answers questions with guests.

Local artist Daniel Fila, or Krave, known best for his mural “Erin,” a 13-foot posterior-view nude painted along Biscayne Boulevard in the Design District, will be on-site in front of Macchialina during the Happy Hour for a live art exhibition.

Macchialina’s regular Happy Hour specials – $5 house wines and cocktails, $1.50 oysters and a combo of Pirolo’s delightful margherita pizza with a pint of Peroni beer for $10 – as well as the a la carte and Miami Spice dinner menus, will also be offered during the Craft Beer Happy Hour. Macchialina’s rustic Italian fare has received a 3½-Star Excellent rating from The Miami Herald and an equally stellar review from The Miami New Times, as well as a great deal of other local and national attention.

Having noticed a void of innovative, top-quality, locally-crafted beer in Miami, Gravity Brewlab Owner Diego Ganoza, with the help of fellow brewers Robert Tejon and Seth Hammond, sought to fill this vacancy by designing a brewery that operated under the philosophy of creating beer that is 100% unique to Miami. Drawing inspiration for each custom-made draft from the individuality of the city, its diverse cuisines, and of course, the prolific local ingredients, Gravity Brewlab has infiltrated the Florida beer market through participation in festivals, pairings, happy hour events, and tap-takeovers at some of Miami’s most popular restaurants and bars, gaining growing notoriety and respect. Their most recent collaboration includes “Gin and Juice,” a gin barrel-aged double IPA with prestigious Tampa-based Cigar City Brewing. Gravity Brewlab has received many nods from the community including features in Miami New Times, Thrillist Miami, SouthFlorida.com, and nationally, Serious Eats: Serious Drinks. Head brewer Robert Tejon has also been listed in Miami New Times’ Top 15 Tastemakers.
