Get ready to indulge! Taste at the Track returns to Gulfstream Park this summer with a tantalizing array of food options between three different themed events. This fan favorite series combines the best of two worlds: food and drink and horse racing. Taking place in the third floor Flamingo Room overlooking the racetrack, guests can indulge in all-you-can-eat food and drink stations while taking in the excitement and energy of high stakes horse racing. The series includes Burgers & Brews on August 6; Tacos & Tequila on August 27 and BBQ & Bourbon on September 24. All events take place on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m.; guests must be 21 and over to attend.

Is there anything better than tacos and tequila? This is the event to enjoy the very best tequilas, including Casamigos, Volcan, Lunazul, Tres Agaves, Casa Noble and many others. Pair with an unlimited assortment of tacos, including Al Pastor, Carnitas, Barbacoa, Tinga, and Mexican Street Corn. Fresh guacamole and assorted salsas complete the experience, bringing authentic flavors of Mexico right to the table. End the meal on a sweet note with an assortment of churros and dipping sauces.
• BBQ & Bourbon | Saturday, September 24
At this final installment of the series, guests can enjoy a variety of southern-style dishes, paired with the very best premium bourbons, whiskeys, and handcrafted cocktails. For both experienced bourbon drinkers and new enthusiasts, this event provides a great opportunity to taste and learn about some of the top labels including Amador, High West, Treaty Oak, Makers 46, Iron Smoke, Jim Beam and Jack Daniels. Save room for some of the best BBQ around, including brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken and other offerings. Plenty of southern sweets bring a delicious end to the meal.

As Fall approaches, it’s time to grab a stein and put on your lederhosen with the return of Wynwood’s Octoberfest, presented by Samuel Adams, taking place from September 9 to 11. Returning for its 12th year, Wynwood’s Octoberfest will transform the Wynwood Marketplace into a traditional Bavarian Bierhaus, turning Wynwood into Germany’s largest festival for the weekend. Festival goers will enjoy live music, seasonal brews from Samuel Adams, bratwurst, boots, beer game competitions and more. Uchi Miami, the stylish Wynwood restaurant known for its non-traditional take on Japanese cuisine, is kicking off a summer dinner series — a one-night-only, collaborative multi-course experience — on July 19 with Raheem Sealey of Drinking Pig BBQ, a locally loved food truck serving up some of the best barbecue in Miami. Both Sealey and Uchi’s experienced chefs will prepare a decadent multi-course meal at $150 per person, with drink pairings an additional $60 per person. Uchi is devoted to partnering with local chefs throughout the Miami community to bring guests a new, collaborative experience to enjoy this season. The summer dinner series will be an ongoing event with more special guests to be announced throughout the summer. Sealey will launch the collaborative series, followed by chefs from the modern Vietnamese restaurant Phuc Yea on August 16, with more to come.

Tickets are now on sale for the opening reception, which also serves as the official Stonewall PRIDE Month Kickoff event celebration, on Tuesday, May 31, from 6 – 8 p.m., at Galleria Fort Lauderdale.
It will be a night to remember as six drag pioneers are celebrated – South Florida’s own Nikki Adams, Tiffany Arieagus, Cathy Craig, Daisy Deadpetals, Electra and Latrice Royale. These treasured performers are being recognized for their longevity, entrepreneurship, roles on local television and international fame. The exhibit will include past and present images, videos, costumes and artifacts that tell the story of their illustrious careers.
The entire drag community will also be celebrated and represented with a “Wall of Fame” sponsored by Lips Fort Lauderdale and designed by acclaimed designer Robert Tabor. This tribute space will showcase many amazing local performers who currently grace the stages in bars, nightclubs, casinos and theater productions.
Memorable tribute performances will be done by Joanna James, Velvet Lenore and Erika Norell. Presentation hosts will be Shawn Palacious and Joe Posa as Joan Rivers with DJ Aulden Brown. Lips Fort Lauderdale, Stoli and Tulio’s Tacos and Tequila Bar will provide light bites and libations.

Funding Arts Broward (FAB), a nonprofit organization committed to preserving and cultivating the arts in Broward County, will present its fifth annual “Black & White: A Night At The Museum” special event on Monday, April 25, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. This elegant black and white themed cocktail party at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale will feature an exclusive exhibit tour, live entertainment by Dillard High School Center for the Arts students, light bites and a decadent dessert table.
Attendees will have the opportunity to experience Lux et Veritas, a FAB-funded exhibit, at the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale on a private tour by Bonnie Clearwater, director and chief curator of NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. Lux et Veritas explores a transformative period in contemporary art by focusing on a generation of artists of color who attended Yale School of Art for graduate studies between 2000 and 2010. The exhibition’s title alludes to Yale University’s motto, “Lux et Veritas,” which translates from Latin to “Light and Truth.” In the context of this exhibition, the title references how these artists thought with critical complexity about their work and their movement through institutional structures. Featured artists include Mike Cloud, william cordova, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Abigail DeVille, Torkwase Dyson, John Espinosa, Luis Gispert, Rashawn Griffin, Leslie Hewitt, Loren Holland, Titus Kaphar, Jamerry Kim, Eric N. Mack, Wardell Milan, Wangechi Mutu, Mamiko Otsubo, Ronny Qevedo, Mickalene Thomas, Anna Tsouhlarakis, Shoshanna Weinberger and Kehinde Wiley.
As with similar programs, Yale School of Art, in New Haven, Connecticut, had not been historically diverse, which spurred these art students to form affiliations across the departments of painting, graphic design, sculpture, photography and art history. They filled gaps in the school’s curriculum and counteracted the lack of diversity among the faculty by inviting artists, curators and writers of color as advisors and guest speakers, developing an interdisciplinary forum, publishing art journals, organizing exhibitions and documenting their experiences in video and photography. The relationships they formed at school evolved into communities that networked and provided essential support and feedback for one another, often passing on these efforts beyond graduate study. Their reevaluation of the Western art canon, and commitment to the method and practice of teaching has contributed to a greater recognition of artists of color, challenged stereotypes and enriched the overall shared spaces of learning and thinking about art and the art praxis.
Lux et Veritas provides a public forum in which to address the directions these artists took based on the explorations that began in graduate school and were instilled thereafter in their practice. The exhibition is curated by Bonnie Clearwater, director and chief curator, NSU Art Museum. Mike Cloud (Yale, MFA 2003), william cordova (Yale, MFA 2004), Leslie Hewitt (Yale, MFA 2004) and Irene V. Small, associate professor, Contemporary Art & Criticism, Princeton University (Yale, Ph.D. 2008) are advisors on the exhibition. Oral histories with the artists who attended the School of Art provided significant insight into their experiences, relationships, and work.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made one day or more in advance of the event date will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made on the day of the event will incur a $99 fee.

In spirit of women’s month, Miami’s digital marketplace, Vecinos Market has teamed up with local charity, No More Tears and Dobel Maestro Tequila for a campaign featuring their very powerful annual luncheon committee including Cristina Scarano, Cindy Pearlstein, Ania O. Goldberg, Natalie Corvacho, Lauren Barrington, Christina Sirinyan, Jenny Pimentel. This partnership is a multi-tiered experience that will be kicked off with an in-person event, a rather unique happy hour at the Moxy South Beach where a moderated conversation will take place between a No More Tears survivor, Erin Michelle Newberg and Jilian Sanz alongside Somy Ali, the Founder of the life-saving organization where nobody receives a salary. No More Tears rescues and empowers victims of human trafficking, sex trafficking and domestic violence. Over the years, they have successfully saved 30,000 women, men, children and pets.
100% of the proceeds from the Serena Margarita will also be donated directly to No More Tears in addition to any cocktail made with Dobel Maestro Tequila.
Throughout the month of March, Vecinos Market will donate a percentage of sales from a selection of exclusive gift boxes where each committee member curated their own. Additionally, attendees can donate $1 to No More Tears by subscribing to Vecinos here.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts presents Rhythm by the River, a festival celebrating some of the most exciting and innovative Black voices in Broward County.
The community is invited to come together for a fun-filled day of music, dance, drama, poetry and interactive events for the whole family. Hosted by WPLG-Local 10 anchor and reporter Alexis Frazier, this free community event features live performances, food trucks, workshops, arts and crafts, and more throughout the afternoon.
On the mainstage, Purple Flux delivers a fusion of Hip-Hop and R&B sounds. The Randy Corinthian Quintet brings a soulful and sophisticated set of smooth jazz hits. The beat continues with West African Drum and Dance ensemble Troupe Fallou. Renegade Theatre Company offers a dynamic array of Broadway musical hits drawn from their repertoire. Art Prevails Project presents a mix of spoken word and theatrical vignettes from their critically acclaimed work. Guests will enjoy a sneak peek at the upcoming play Head Above Water: The Life of Esther Rolle by Darius V. Daughtry, directed by Bianca LaVerne Jones, commissioned by the African American Research Library and Cultural Center. As the grand finale, violin virtuosi Sons of Mystro headline the festivities merging their unique blend of classical strings with reggae hits and American pop songs along with some of their own original work.
Everyone is invited to participate in creating a community mural with visual artist Constance Ivana out in the park, or head to the Mary N. Porter Riverview Ballroom at the Broward Center to take part in a Teeny Violini music workshop with New Canon Chamber Collective’s founder Portia Dunkley, a spoken word poetry session with performer and FLO’etry founder Jerris “Quick the Poet” Evans or a Hip-Hop dance class with choreographer and Developing Dreams Foundation’s executive director Pablo Malco.
There will be opportunities to get to know your neighbors, enjoy outstanding entertainment, and learn more about the African American Research Library and Cultural Center’s Vicennial of Black Excellence, Art Prevails Project, Black Violin Foundation, FLO’etry, Developing Dreams Foundation, New Canon Chamber Collective, Old Dillard Museum, Renegade Theatre Company and much more.
Rhythm by the River is part of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ Arts for Action: Black Voices initiative, which uses the arts as a catalyst to raise awareness, deepen knowledge, and mobilize action on social justice issues.
