From March 23 – 27, The Shelborne South Beach will be making a splash during Miami Music Week with their array of pool parties. K-RAZOR, METZLI, and DJ Jay Sample will be taking turns hosting throughout the week to showcase some of the best EDM South Florida has to offer. The sets will begin at 12:00 PM and last all the way until 6:00 PM.

K-RAZOR will be hitting the stage March 23, 24, and 27 From Miami to Las Vegas to Los Angeles, K-RAZOR has made his mark all over the United States hosting at venues like the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, where he plays weekends at the Arkadia pool. He even has a place on 105.5 The Beat, Saturdays at 11:00 PM. Make sure to check out one of Miami’s hottest DJs on March 23, 24, and 27.

March 25 will have music by METZLI Metzli is a staple to Miami culture where she reigns supreme at Treehouse Miami. In addition to Treehouse, she has also played at Barter, Secret Garden Festival, Proyecto Tulum, Vedado Social Lounge, and The Delano among others. She captivates listeners with her unique style where she mixes traditional deep house with Mexican drums and latin rhythms.

DJ Jay Sample takes over on March 26 DJ Jay Sample deemed himself “The Hardest Working DJ in Miami” because of his drive and dedication to his craft. His beats range from House to Funk Soul to Pop Remixes. Sample has played at venues like Joia Beach and Takato, and events like Art Basel 2021. He also streams on Twitch, so that everyone can experience one of his sets.

Sunday by the Shore, is the new monthly community building event that encourages the public to spend the day at The LOOP to connect with their neighbors and make new friends. The Broward Center Spotlights have performed at a number of popular local community events, including Christmas on Las Olas, Light up Lauderdale and Trick or Treat on 2nd Street.

The Broward Center Spotlights will be presenting Broadway on the Beach-featuring songs from its current touring season including Frozen, CATS and Pretty Woman as well as other favorite Broadway tunes from the classics to today for the whole family to enjoy. Join these 30 talented singers as they perform exciting and entertaining group numbers as well as dazzling vocal solos. South Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO), led by Sebrina María Alfonso, will present Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos in E-flat Major, K. 365, featuring Catherine Lan and Tao Lin of Duo Beaux Arts, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Opus 56, “Scotch” and Rossini’s The Italian Girl in Algiers Overture as part of its Masterworks IV series. The concert will commence on March 26, at 7:30 p.m., at Tennessee Williams Theatre at The College of The Florida Keys (5901 College Road, Key West).

The program begins with the sparkling overture to Rossini’s comic opera The Italian Girl in Algiers, which is said to be among the most memorable in all of Rossini’s work. It is known for its distinct opening of slow, quiet woodwinds in imitation of pizzicato strings, leading to a sudden loud burst of sound from the full ensemble.

The concert continues with Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos in E-flat Major, K. 365, featuring the dynamic Catherine Lan and Tao Lin — husband and wife – of Duo Beaux Arts. The pair will join SFSO on the mainstage for the first time, performing one of the limited number of Mozart works for two or more solo instruments with orchestra. They were regular performers during SFSO’s virtual Intermission Music Series, presented for free during Covid shutdown. Lan also performs as a member of the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, most recently during its Handel’s Messiah concerts. Formed in 2008, Duo Beaux Arts is critically acclaimed for its adrenalized performances across Europe and the United States. The pair has been featured on Fox 4’s “Morning Blend TV,” Maine Public and in Venice magazine, Asian-Trend magazine, World Journal New York, and Gulfshore Life magazine. Season highlights include recitals at Swan City Piano Festival and the prestigious Cosmos Club in Washington D.C., as well as concert tours in Hungary and Canada.

The program concludes with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Opus 56. Some of Mendelssohn’s most brilliant musical inspirations came from his travels. While on holiday in Scotland, he was particularly moved by the picturesque, evocative ruins of Holyrood Chapel in Edinburgh, the inspiration for his Third Symphony — also known as the “Scottish” or “Scotch” Symphony.

Recently named Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ first Partner in the Arts for its affiliated $30 million renovated venue, The Parker, South Florida Symphony Orchestra’s 2021-22 season runs through April 28, 2022.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ All Abilities Series continues with a free sensory inclusive virtual Masquerade Ball. Broward Center teaching artist TJ Tekurio will lead participants through an exciting dance routine for the whole family.

Viewers will have the chance to dance together to the elegant and smooth sounds of 3/4 time from the comfort and safety of their homes. The free session is ideal for anyone who has no dance experience as Tekurio demonstrates learning to waltz is as easy as 1-2-3. Join MOCA’s Art on the Plaza series in this unique activation celebrating the artist Najja Moon. In her work “Reading Reflections,” Moon explores themes of reflection and self-empowerment through a human-scale intervention jutting out from MOCA’s Plaza. Participants are invited to add their own interventions and reflections in this collaborative movement and drawing-based activation as they learn how to communicate through their own enigmatic symbolism.

Led by Moon, participants will draw on rolls of canvas around the “Reading Reflections” installation using black markers to add their own symbols and reflections on life, memories, poetry, hopes and dreams, activating the work in new ways. From 6 – 10 p.m., guests can also enjoy a block party with a conversation with the artist, food from food trucks, and free lemonade from Paradise Bistro. Vendors and music will also be on the MOCA plaza. Guests are invited to stay for Jazz at MOCA, the monthly free community jazz concert. Paying homage to the original Dania Jai-Alai Palace, which in its heyday in the ‘70s and ‘80s drew thousands of fans to the stands, this first-ever exhibition tournament will pair 16 of the sports’ top-ranked players as they compete in elimination rounds for more than $21,000 in cash and prizes.

Jai-Alai has been dubbed the fastest moving ball sport in the world by Guinness World Records. After hosting Jai-Alai games for almost 70 years as home to the last remaining full court frontons in America, the final regulation Jai-Alai game was played at The Casino @ Dania Beach on November 28, 2021.

American Academy is pleased to host “Understanding Your Child’s Educational Diagnosis,” a virtual event via Zoom on Tuesday, March 29 at 7 p.m. This event is part of American Academy’s monthly program, “Experts in Learning Differences: A Speaker Series.” Hosted by Alexandra Rollins, admissions director of the American Academy Program, the expert speaker for the March event is Dr. David A. Yudell, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

Finding the “gift within” a child is essential to building confidence and success in school and life. In this episode of “Experts in Learning Differences,” Dr. Yudell will explain how to understand and use educational evaluations to uncover weaknesses and highlight strengths in order to enhance a child’s schooling and benefit his or her academic and social achievements. Throughout his discussion, Dr. Yudell will provide evidence-based, scientifically proven, and effective tools that motivate a child’s entire support system to work together towards improvement and advancement.

“Every individual needs an area in which to shine, particularly those with difficulties in school. Educational evaluations provide a snapshot of a child’s unique abilities in order to reinforce strengths and ensure that self-esteem, motivation, and ambition are not thwarted,” said Dr. Yudell.

Dr. Yudell practices in Broward and southern Palm Beach counties. He specializes in both child and adult pathology and has extensive experience completing psychological evaluations and testing in private and public schools, the Division of Disability, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and in private practice. Dr. Yudell received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology from NSU and a master’s degree in counseling from Seton Hall University.

The speaker series is streamed live virtually, as well as available for viewing following each event. The purpose of the speaker series is to educate families about topics that relate to mild learning differences and are relevant today. All of the speakers are experts in the various disciplines of each topic. The American Academy’s goal is to provide families with a safe space to ask questions and strengthen their knowledge about how to ensure the success of their child.

Children’s Harbor kicks off a milestone 25th anniversary this year with the 9th Annual Harbor Lights Gala at the Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach, 551 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., on Saturday, April 9 from 6 to 10 p.m.

South Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO), led by Sebrina María Alfonso, will present Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos in E-flat Major, K. 365, featuring Catherine Lan and Tao Lin of Duo Beaux Arts, Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Opus 56, “Scotch” and Rossini’s The Italian Girl in Algiers Overture as part of its Masterworks IV series. The concert will commence on March 24, at 7:30 p.m., at Temple Israel of Greater Miami.

The program begins with the sparkling overture to Rossini’s comic opera The Italian Girl in Algiers, which is said to be among the most memorable in all of Rossini’s work. It is known for its distinct opening of slow, quiet woodwinds in imitation of pizzicato strings, leading to a sudden loud burst of sound from the full ensemble.

The concert continues with Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos in E-flat Major, K. 365, featuring the dynamic Catherine Lan and Tao Lin — husband and wife – of Duo Beaux Arts. The pair will join SFSO on the mainstage for the first time, performing one of the limited number of Mozart works for two or more solo instruments with orchestra. They were regular performers during SFSO’s virtual Intermission Music Series, presented for free during Covid shutdown. Lan also performs as a member of the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, most recently during its Handel’s Messiah concerts. Formed in 2008, Duo Beaux Arts is critically acclaimed for its adrenalized performances across Europe and the United States. The pair has been featured on Fox 4’s “Morning Blend TV,” Maine Public and in Venice magazine, Asian-Trend magazine, World Journal New York, and Gulfshore Life magazine. Season highlights include recitals at Swan City Piano Festival and the prestigious Cosmos Club in Washington D.C., as well as concert tours in Hungary and Canada.

The program concludes with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Opus 56. Some of Mendelssohn’s most brilliant musical inspirations came from his travels. While on holiday in Scotland, he was particularly moved by the picturesque, evocative ruins of Holyrood Chapel in Edinburgh, the inspiration for his Third Symphony — also known as the “Scottish” or “Scotch” Symphony.

Recently named Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ first Partner in the Arts for its affiliated $30 million renovated venue, The Parker, South Florida Symphony Orchestra’s 2021-22 season runs through April 28, 2022.

The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) is pleased to relaunch its free outdoor “Jazz at MOCA” concert series in-person on the last Friday of every month. South Florida’s longest-running free outdoor jazz concert series and one of the museum’s most beloved public programs returns for in-person open air musical entertainment, rain or shine. Fanni Sarkozy
Fanni Sarkozy is an internationally recognized, highly trained pianist, singer and music educator who is equally proficient in jazz and classical music. Born into a family of musicians, Sarkozy began her classical piano studies at the age of 6. She graduated with Honors at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary with a major in piano in 2004.

Sarkozy started to create music in 2001 and she became an award-winning composer. Her first record released in 2006 in collaboration with Mizar on Leszek En – NarRator Records. While teaching classical piano at the Academy’s jazz faculty since 2007, Sarkozy has also achieved international recognition as a keyboardist, vocalist and composer. In 2010 Mizar won the International Songwriting Contest France first prize in jazz category with one of Fanni’s songs, “No time to lose.”

Miami’s canine community and their two-legged friends are taking over the Lincoln Road District. Unleash Your Love #onLincoln, produced by the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District (BID) and Doggy Fest, is a free event that will feature fun activities and activations taking place on Sunday, April 10th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The day-long event is the first of its kind in Miami Beach and will feature a Doggie Fun Zone, canine obstacle course, owner and dog look-alike contest, dog fashion show hosted by the G-Girls, training demonstration, live music and entertainment, vendor marketplace and more! The Broward Center for the Performing Arts presents Rhythm by the River, a festival celebrating some of the most exciting and innovative Black voices in Broward County.

The community is invited to come together for a fun-filled day of music, dance, drama, poetry and interactive events for the whole family. Hosted by WPLG-Local 10 anchor and reporter Alexis Frazier, this free community event features live performances, food trucks, workshops, arts and crafts, and more throughout the afternoon.

On the mainstage, Purple Flux delivers a fusion of Hip-Hop and R&B sounds. The Randy Corinthian Quintet brings a soulful and sophisticated set of smooth jazz hits. The beat continues with West African Drum and Dance ensemble Troupe Fallou. Renegade Theatre Company offers a dynamic array of Broadway musical hits drawn from their repertoire. Art Prevails Project presents a mix of spoken word and theatrical vignettes from their critically acclaimed work. Guests will enjoy a sneak peek at the upcoming play Head Above Water: The Life of Esther Rolle by Darius V. Daughtry, directed by Bianca LaVerne Jones, commissioned by the African American Research Library and Cultural Center. As the grand finale, violin virtuosi Sons of Mystro headline the festivities merging their unique blend of classical strings with reggae hits and American pop songs along with some of their own original work.

Everyone is invited to participate in creating a community mural with visual artist Constance Ivana out in the park, or head to the Mary N. Porter Riverview Ballroom at the Broward Center to take part in a Teeny Violini music workshop with New Canon Chamber Collective’s founder Portia Dunkley, a spoken word poetry session with performer and FLO’etry founder Jerris “Quick the Poet” Evans or a Hip-Hop dance class with choreographer and Developing Dreams Foundation’s executive director Pablo Malco.

There will be opportunities to get to know your neighbors, enjoy outstanding entertainment, and learn more about the African American Research Library and Cultural Center’s Vicennial of Black Excellence, Art Prevails Project, Black Violin Foundation, FLO’etry, Developing Dreams Foundation, New Canon Chamber Collective, Old Dillard Museum, Renegade Theatre Company and much more.

The Lincoln Eatery on Miami Beach is hosting its monthly pop up market with Pop up & Shop up on Sunday, March 27th! Explore traditional Japanese paper dyeing (orizome-shi) and Japanese bookbinding (wahon) techniques inspired by Shawna Moulton’s travel to Tokushima, Japan. Participants will create their own beautiful and unique patterned papers and choose one for a handmade book cover. Orizome translates to “folded dyeing” and is a timeless Japanese paper-craft technique that combines “origami” paper folding and colored pigment dip-dyeing. While the orizome paper is drying the class will move on to bookmaking and create a Japanese-style notebook.

Ten years after the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps, filmmaker Alan Resnais documented the abandoned grounds of Auschwitz and Majdanek in Night and Fog (Nuit et Brouillard), one of the first cinematic reflections on the Holocaust. Juxtaposing the stillness of the abandoned camps’ empty buildings with haunting wartime footage, Resnais investigates humanity’s capacity for violence and presents the devastating suggestion that such horrors could occur again. After the documentary, there will be an open discussion on understanding historical questions raised in the film and universal questions about justice and humanity. Panelists include Dr. Terrence Peterson, Assistant Professor of History at FIU, and Dr. Oren Stier, Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Director of the Holocaust Studies initiative.

The Annual San Gennaro Feast is back for another delicious year at Gulfstream Park Village. Taking place at Pegasus Park, the food and music festival will feature a variety of food vendors, amusement rides, arts and crafts and live entertainment. Continue the opening weekend celebration for Marisol and Warhol Take New York with a dynamic conversation featuring exhibition curator Jessica Beck and author Angie Cruz. Beck and Cruz will discuss the life and work of Marisol while exploring the visibility of female-identified Latinx art and artists in the canons of art and culture in the contemporary United States. Born in Paris to Venezuelan parents, Marisol (Maria Sol Escobar) held a central position in the New York art scene and international Pop movement in the 1960s. Over time, however, she was written out of the white male-dominated narratives of art history, overshadowed by artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Claes Oldenburg. Marisol and Warhol Take New York seeks to reclaim the importance of her practice; reframe the strength, originality, and daring nature of her work; and reconsider her as one of the leading figures of the Pop era.

Holi Miami, an outdoor family friendly event celebrating Spring, is coming to Wynwood. Holi, known as the Festival of Colors, signifies a time for unity, forgiveness and renewal in ancient India.

Festival goers are invited to take part in a traditional coordinated color throw and are encouraged to wear white in anticipation of being covered in the vibrant colors of Holi.

Holi Miami will also feature Indian food, DJs, performances and several kids activities. Bollywood performers, local music and dance groups, and dhol and tabla players are scheduled to perform. Food from Miami favorites Bombay Darbar, Diya and Namaste Miami will be available for sale. Bali Chainani, from the Bravo series Family Karma, will also make an appearance.

The event will be the first celebration of its kind to take place in Wynwood. Holi Miami will be co-hosted by MAIACA, Miami Association of Indian Americans for Culture and the Arts.

Join Orchestra Miami for a uniquely Miami experience!
To honor the 95th anniversary of the founding of Pan American World Airways and Miami’s storied aviation history, Orchestra Miami presents two seldomly performed, important American compositions about flight- Kurt Weill’s Der Lindberghflug (Linberg’s Flight) and Marc Blitzstein’s Airborne Symphony at Shake-A-Leg Miami, an original Coast Guard airplane hangar in Coconut Grove, built in 1932. The performance features Orchestra Miami, Elaine Rinaldi conductor, along with the Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre under the direction of Rosie Herrera, members of Tropical Wave and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Ft. Lauderdale under the direction of Anthony Cabrera, with stage direction by Michael Yawney. The performance will feature Gregory Schmidt as Lindberg and Gabriel Preisser as Airman.
Tickets are general admission by section. Section A-VIP tickets include admission to the after-party on the terrace at Shake-A-Leg overlooking Biscayne Bay. Tickets are $100 for Section A-VIP; $70 for Section A; $50 for Section B and $35 for Section C, which is bleacher-style seating.
