Take a memorable journey through Jungle Island at night during the first-ever Luminosa Festival of Lights. This captivating instagram-worthy experience will span 13 of the park’s lush 18 acres and will feature hundreds of giant lanterns – beautifully hand-crafted out of colorful silk by the world’s top Chinese Lantern Festival creators. The festival paints a magical story of the jungle, its wildlife, birds & blooms, and Biscayne Bay, while showcasing the exciting transformation of South Florida’s popular eco-adventure attraction. A few of the visual delights will include a life-sized demure cassowary and striking silk parrots, a sea of glowing jellyfish, and panoramic reinterpretations of several iconic Miami destinations. Terence Blanchard and the E-Collective collaborate with choreographer Rennie Harris’ company, Puremovement, and sculptor/projection mapping artist Andrew Scott to create Caravan: A Revolution on the Road, a new work expanding on themes explored on the first E-Collective recording and tour.

These artists have created a multi-disciplinary performance that transcends racial and social boundaries and breathe new artistic life into conversations on personal and collective identity in relation to social and political structures. Following the release of Breathless, an elegy for Eric Garner, Blanchard expressed that ‘we’ve been having dialogues for far too long with no actions, no change.’ The forceful, yet inclusive energy of this new project encourages the audience to make yet another step toward positive social change.

On July 27, Latin GRAMMY nominee Manu Manzo brings her sensual storytelling to Miami Beach for an intimate performance at Faena Theater.

The young singer/songwriter, known for her provocative lyrics and seductive choreography, will showcase works from her first EP, “COMO SOY”, and her upcoming EP due to release in August, sharing her journey of heartbreak, newfound love and everything in between.

Joining Manu Manzo on stage is Domino Saints, an emerging Puerto Rican pop duo formed by Gigi Ojeda and David Leal. Moon River Cabaret returns to Wynwood with another monthly production of The Garter at Barter.

After four months of successfully produced sold-out burlesque spectacles at Wynwood’s latest home for live entertainment, The Garter returns to Barter with a new cast and the same powerhouse performances that have brought audiences, both seasoned and newcomers alike, to revere this cherished American art-form.

Barter, with its vintage decor and homey vibe welcomes lovers of great dining, connoisseurs of fine cocktails, and those who enjoy being entertained with an in-your-face live cabaret and comedy show filled with music, song, and the art of striptease.

The show will feature some of Florida’s most formidable talent for a full two hours. There will be a full menu which can be found on their website, full service, full liquor bar, with bottle service and specials on wine & liquor bottles throughout the night.

Myers grew up in Columbia, Maryland and began his comedy career at the age of 18 at Winchester’s Pub in Baltimore.[1] In 2005 he won the “Funniest Person in Baltimore” contest.[2] Myers later moved to Florida where he was named 2011 Florida’s Funniest Comedian.

David Del Rosario has always been a comedic performer. Described as a freeform high energy character driven comic with an edge, in 2005 he had already performed improv and his first stand up comedy acts alongside Comedy Central Present’s very own Al Jackson. In 2009, David created the live sketch comedy show “Category Seven” and then joined Just The Funny Theatre in 2010. In 2011, as a member of the JTF Theater main stage cast; he was given the ability to redefine sketch and improv comedy as a member of the team “Special In A Bad Way”. The group has gone on to receive notoriety in The Miami Herald & The New Times.

Energetic splashes of funk, alternative, rock, R&B, and psychedelia color the music of Turkuaz. Balancing male-female harmonies, strutting guitars, wild horn arrangements, and interminable grooves, this spirit takes shape in the color donned by each respective member on stage nightly via larger-than-life performances.

The Brooklyn-based nonet —Dave Brandwein [guitar, vocals], Taylor Shell [bass], Craig Brodhead [guitar, keys], Michelangelo Carubba [drums], Chris Brouwers [trumpet, keys], Greg Sanderson [tenor sax], Josh Schwartz [baritone sax, vocals], Sammi Garett [vocals], and Shira Elias [vocals]—ignite an explosion of energy punctuated by neon hues, deft musicality, and show-stopping sing-alongs on their fifth full-length album, Life In The City.

The album, which includes co-production work from Jerry Harrison of The Talking Heads, sees the band stretch their sonic palette and cover new ground lyrically as they grapple with reality and get personal, finding the light in what can sometimes be a dark world. 10 Days of Connection is a community-led initiative to promote kindness and inclusion in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. From May 1-10, participants are invited to attend connection experiences hosted by more than 100 local organizations, and are challenged to step outside of their comfort zone to forge new connections across lines of difference.

In recent years, people have become increasingly divided across lines of difference. Incidents of hate have increased, and tolerance for differing ideas has decreased. For ten days each year, we challenge the entire community to break down silos and engage in acts of connection, to build empathy, to increase understanding, and to refocus on our shared humanity.

FSQ (Soul Clap Records) DJ sets draw upon on their extensive catalog of remix and original productions and quality dance music across a variety of styles including funk, disco, house, northern soul, and their own brand of Sly and Robbie influenced new wave, dubbed “Caribbean Disco”. This Miami Music Week Party 2019 pays tribute to the late legendary FSQ and Parliament-Funkadelic member Sa’d ‘The Hourchild’ Ali who passed away unexpectedly last year. FSQ DJs are Chuck Da Fonk and Chas Bronz. Also expect one of Sa’d’s favorite legendary DJs and friends to throw a special set TBA night of event.

Also FSQ selected some of the best talent for honor Sa’d’s legacy – for instance, Sergio Santos, a name in electronic music that has become synonymous with deep techno, dark disco, funk, and classic house with unique sounds and other world selections. Taking influence from both the United States and Portugal’s dance music scenes, Sergio has a sound unique to his life experiences and surrounding environments. Sergio and Sa’d last played together at Art Basel 2017. Sergio’s wonderful new concept is FUNKY PEOPLE, a diverse conglomerate of artists, hosting weekly and monthly residencies throughout NYC, providing the soundtrack to this FUNKY life and celebrating love and friendship.

Los Negros are record label mates of FSQ via Soul Clap / Crew Love. Their sets present the finest rare and classic selections across genres spanning house, disco, funk, latin, and soul. Miami locals, they’ve also been holding down 305 parties like Scooch at Coyo Taco, 1-800-Lucky and Vagabond Miami and their music has graced several soirees at Barter Wynnwood in the past. They made their official Soul Clap Records debut in 2017 on the Soul Clap led compilation “ThreeOhFive Life” including cuts from both Los Negros, and Shane Vincent solo. Los Negros are also known for their deeply funky “Summer Edits” series on Crew Love.

Queens New York City born Wendy Escobar, another dear friend of FSQ’s, was championed by Sa’d The Hourchild Ali for her production and DJ talent. Now Los Angeles based, Wendy first became a regular name among house heads as the voice of Traxsource Live with over 4 Million online and FM radio Listeners. Wendy now hosts her own radio Show, “Mood Swing”, signed to the acclaimed “This Is Distorted” alongside Defected Radio, Deadmau5 and Drumcode. A passionate digger and lover of the old school, Wendy plays house, techno & deep house in both digital and vinyl formats, mixed with a healthy dose of dance classics.
