Fantasy Theatre Factory presents a CAP @ SRT Spanish adaptation of Ibsen’s famous A Dolls House 2…El Regreso de Nora.

The Three Mess-keteers are called to rescue their resources and exact environmental justice. The Mess-keteers’ quest takes them to the Kingdom of Clean where the Duke has deployed his nasty knights to destroy the natural treasures of the Kingdom. Can they put a stop to the Dirty Duke’s deeds and rescue the land?
Physical comedy, audience participation, and even a bit of exciting swordplay, bring this adventure to life as the children learn that when it comes to the environment, it’s “all for one and one for all”!

Sunandaji is the daughter-disciple of Swami Parthasarathy, the 95 year-old celebrated author and Guru from India. She has been lecturing worldwide for over thirty years to outstanding responses, so don’t miss this opportunity!
Sunandaji has been studying and researching Vedanta, the ancient philosophy of India for over four decades. Her clear and powerful presentation of the Bhagavad Gita in contemporary thought has been acclaimed in India and abroad. Sunandaji has also addressed prestigious corporate organizations and universities worldwide on the practical application of Vedanta in daily life.
Sunandaji will explain how the ancient philosophy of Vedanta can help us become stress-free, productive and truly fulfilled. Vedanta is derived from two Sanskrit words– Veda: Wisdom and Anta: Ultimate, thus meaning the highest wisdom one can attain in life. Over four sessions, Sunandaji will teach verse by verse the chapter titled The Yoga of Knowledge and Wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Vedanta text that is profound yet practical for everyday living.
Each session will cover a different topic, so we recommend you attend all four sessions. If not all, try and make as many as you can!

Battle Court Jai-Alai Brings “The World’s Fastest Game” To Miami 10/14/22

Battle Court Jai-Alai Brings “The World’s Fastest Game” To Miami
Friday, 10/14/2022-, 06:30 pm-
The Magic City Fronton
450 NW 37th Ave,
Miami, Florida, 33125
Website

Standing out amongst common, run-of-the-mill sporting events is an innovative and exciting take on a sport that originated in the Basque region of Spain and France – Battle Court Jai-Alai.

The high speed game, coined “The World’s Fastest Ball Sport,” involves bouncing a ball off a walled-in space by accelerating it to speeds of over 150 mph with a hand-held wicker cesta. While Jai-Alai took root in Miami nearly 50 years ago during the go-go days of the 1970s and ’80s, the new take on the game promises to provide even more thrills and action to game attendees. The fresh spin on the game takes the best features of Jai-Alai singles and doubles matches and combines them with a state-of-the-art Jai-Alai court and the world’s best Jai-Alai players (some of them even being home-grown from University of Miami). Additionally, to speed up the sport, Magic City has reduced the traditional fronton length by nearly 60 feet and replaced the typical goatskin ball with a bouncier pelota that ricochets against a high-impact glass wall instead of a more commonly-seen granite wall. Magic City has also launched a new and more exciting format of play, which resembles the way tennis matches are played and promises to keep fans on the edge of their seats all season long.

This September marks the start of the Fall 22 Battle Court season, lasting 9 weeks and played exclusively at the Magic City Fronton. Game attendees will enjoy all the perks of a live sporting event, such as sports bar style food and drinks, and sleek VIP areas, plus a high-energy DJ, cornhole, and fun raffles. The event is open to all ages, family and friends, and welcomes existing fans of the sport and those who are new to the world of Jai-Alai to experience something like never before. Whether you’re a lover of the game or simply want to shake up your Friday night, Battle Court Jai-Alai is sure to entertain.
The introduction of Jai-Alai adds to Miami’s expansive and innovative sports scene. Where other cities focus on tried and true sports traditions, Miami is increasingly on the cutting edge, bringing in events that are sure to surprise and delight guests.

“Battle Court Jai-Alai is dedicated to sharing the legacy and excitement of ‘The World’s Fastest Sport’ with a new generation of fans,” says Scott Savin, the chief operating officer of Magic City. “We’re thrilled to be building the future of Jai-Alai in the Miami community.”

Doors open at 6:30pm and the first serve is at 7:00pm. The matches will be available to stream on ESPN3, FTF Sports, WatchJaiAlai.com, and the Jai-Alai app live, allowing anyone to take part in the action between now and mid-November 2022. The Magic City Fronton is located at 450 NW 37th Ave, Miami, FL 33125 and offers free parking for game day attendees. Learn more about Battle Court Jai-Alai at JaiAlaiWorld.com.

Until November 2022, lovers of the game or those just wanting to experience something new are invited to experience the high action game and event extras like food and drinks, music, raffles, and more.

If you are in the Miami area, we would like to invite you to a first-of-its-kind online workshop that helps you to housebreak your dog, stop bad behaviors, and train them to become as obedient as service dogs, using the same secret methods used by service dog trainers. Check out this free dog training workshop

Training a dog is certainly the hardest part of owning a dog. It can be very frustrating having a dog that is not housebroken, or barks excessively, or keeps pulling on the leash during your walks, or doesn’t respond whenever it’s called, or jumps up on people, etc.

You’ll be fed up, because it’s pretty exhausting to keep trying to make them listen. You’ll wonder how professional dog trainers help dogs behave exactly the way they (the trainers) want them to.

But hiring a trainer can be quite expensive, and to be honest, you don’t really need to.

I’ll explain how in a minute. First, let me talk about WHY your dog seems to be so hard to train…

The reason you are having so much difficulty training your dog is that you’ve been doing dog training the outdated way.

It’s not your fault though. The fault really lies with all the bad dog training information that’s out there on the Internet and elsewhere.

Most people start training their dogs using verbal cues or commands like SIT, STAY, etc. Because that’s what they have been taught to do by numerous books on dog training and by all the videos they’ve seen on the Internet.

Here’s the problem – that’s exactly how NOT to train a dog!

Why?

Because the science of animal behavior says that starting your training using verbal cues sets your dog up for failure.

Dogs that are trained only using verbal cues never get trained properly. Or at least, the training doesn’t last long.

So what’s the best way to train a dog?

The science is very clear on this – dogs are best trained by using body language. Now, this doesn’t mean that you should never use verbal cues. What it means is that you should always START your dog’s training using body language. Later on, you can bring in a verbal cue to reinforce your dog’s training.

That’s it? Yeah, that’s it :-)

So how do you train your dog using body language?

We put together this limited time FREE training in Miami, fantastic free workshop from the K9 Training Institute that helps you learn how to do just that.

The workshop is designed to help “normal” dogs like yours have the same level of calmness, obedience and impulse control as service dogs.

It’s being conducted by Dr. Alexa Diaz (one of the top service dog trainers in the U.S.) and Eric Presnall (host of the hit Animal Planet TV show “Who Let the Dogs Out”).

Frankly, the techniques described in the workshop are fairly groundbreaking – I haven’t seen anyone else talk of these techniques.

This is because it’s the first time ever (at least that I know of) that anyone has revealed the secret techniques used by the service dog training industry to train service dogs.

In the free workshop, you’ll discover:

How to train your dog using body language, rather than verbal cues
The 3 key techniques that service dog trainers use to train dogs, and how you can use them too
The most important step that “normal” dog owners have been missing (this is very important to get your dog’s attention, and it works 100% of the time)
How to stop bad behaviors like excessive barking, pulling on the leash, jumping, etc.
Why a lot of dog owners are unable to establish the amazing bond that service dog trainers have with their dogs
etc.

The tips shared in this free workshop work on ALL dog breeds – from small breeds like Pomeranians and Chihuahuas to large breeds like English Mastiffs and Great Danes.

Also, puppies as young as 6 weeks old, and previously untrained adult dogs as old as 13 years, have been successfully trained using these techniques.

It’s not a live workshop – rather, it’s a pre-recorded workshop, which means that you can watch it at your convenience. This is considered one of the best online dog trainings, with countless 5-star reviews.

However, while the workshop is free, I am not sure whether it’s going to be online for too long, so please check it out as soon as you can.

Brévo Theatre (@brevo_theatre) is proud to present “Funnyhouse of a Negro” as its final production of the 2021-2022 season. The off-brodway performance originally created by Adrienne Kennedy in 1964 will take place on October 22 and October 23 at 7 p.m. at the Proscenium Theatre at the Little Haiti Cultural Center located at 212 NE 59th Terrace, Miami, Florida 33137. General admission tickets are $25.00. Tickets can be purchased at Brévo Theatre (https://brevo-theatre.ticketleap.com/funnyhouse-of-a-negro/). “Funnyhouse of a Negro,” directed by Zaylin Yates and part of the theatre’s “Dans le avant-garde” series, is a poetic and symbolic investigation into one woman’s mind before her death. Sarah has created four different personas as a way to grapple with her own self-hatred: Queen Victoria, the Duchess of Hapsburg, Jesus and Patrice Lumumba. With these four characters at her side, Sarah tries to make sense of her conception (from rape), her life without her parents, and the creeping insanity that she feels all around her. The cast for the show includes Jessica Raquel as Negro Sarah; Jamall Lynch as Patrice Lumumba, Naomi Ray-Barnett as Queen Victoria Regina, Chasity Hart as the Duchess of Hapsburg and Omari White as Jesus and Funnyhouse Man. It also stars Onyekachi “Onyi” Anyagaligbo as Sarah’s Landlord/Funnyhouse Woman. The October 23 show will be followed by a symposium entitled “Between Two Worlds,” that deals with colorism and self-identity. This symposium will feature a panel of special guests and focus on mental and emotional healing for biracial men and women. A partnership between Brévo Theatre and South Florida AfroPride, the session will tackle topics on how the community can seek emotional healing. Learning tools to practice self-love and embracing all the things that define our humanity. Mental illness, self-hate, and the need to be socially accepted are issues that currently plague the Black and BIPOC communities. Admission to the symposium will be free and will directly follow the performance.

Join WBHI Pink Walk 2022— 5K Run and Walk to Raise Funds and Help Beat the Odds of Breast Cancer

The Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative (WBHI) 6th Annual Pink Walk returns this year with its 5K Run and Walk hosted by Miami Dade College at the North Campus. Leading into Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this college-wide partnership for Pink Walk 2022 invites the community and their families to raise funds for breast cancer disease prevention and early detection.

Runners, walkers, and joggers can help transform and save lives, one step at a time, while supporting at risk women, college students and low-income populations with the resources necessary to help beat the odds of breast cancer.

Supporters of the WBHI 6th Annual Pink Walk can also participate virtually in the 5K Run and Walk around their neighborhood, or at the park, beach, or other convenient outdoor location.

All participants are also empowered to play an active role in helping to transform and save lives by setting up a personal fundraising page. Special swag will be awarded when participants raise $50, $100, and more, helping WBHI get to its $100,000 goal.

A leader in fostering healthy communities, WBHI was recently designated the first official Florida license plate designed to support Disease Prevention & Early Detection. Pre-sale vouchers are available at flbreasthealth.com/licenseplate to provide increased education and awareness relating to early detection, prevention, and screening of breast and heart issues.

All proceeds will benefit The Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative for its grassroots community services including early detection, health education, care coordination and patient navigation.

In celebration of Caribbean Heritage Month, MOCA North Miami is proud to feature The Mento Philharmonic Orchestra. Mento is a style of Jamaican folk music that predates and has greatly influenced Ska and Reggae music. Mento typically features acoustic instruments, such as acoustic guitar, banjo, hand drums, and the rhumba box (which is a large mbira in the shape of a box that can be sat on while played.) The rhumba box carries the bass part of the music.

Tallawah Mento Band is a Florida-based Jamaican Mento Band founded with four of the original members of the Jamaica Folk Revue. Tallawah adds its particular flavor to the music of several genres, including the music of Haiti, Cuba, Trinidad and many loved hits from the 50’s and 60’s. With the addition of internationally acclaimed jazz guitarist Keith Stoddart, formerly of the Jamaican Jazz Band “The Sonny Bradshaw Seven,” the band has extended its repertoire to include old jazz, classical, popular, and soca/calypso. The group has entertained all over the US, and recently in Jamaica, and has won numerous accolades. They have also been featured on NBC 6, Radio Waves, Mystic Radio, and Radio WOKB 1600, in Orlando. This program is made possible with major support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

The OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Miami is back – bolder, brighter and in-person! Internationally acclaimed as one of the largest LGBTQ+ cultural festivals in the world, OUTShine returns for its 24th edition to unite the community through premier social events and programs like its Closing Night Film & Awards Celebration on May 1 that inspire, entertain, educate and encourage a sense of community. “Cop Secret (Leyniliogga)” (2021) (Iceland) will close out the fest with a 6 p.m. screening at the Sandrell Rivers Theater in Miami. The film will be followed by the annual audience film awards soiree featuring light bites, and open bar by Bacardi and entertainment courtesy of DJ Hottpants.

Cop movie clichés have been sent-up before, but this Icelandic action comedy takes the homoerotic subtext of so many buddy movies and unapologetically comes “out” all guns blazing. Rival law enforcers, rough-edged Bussi and slick hunky, ex-model Hördur reluctantly join forces to stop criminal mastermind Rikki Ferrari. Desperate as they are to stop Ferrari’s bank heists, they may just, despite Bússi’s initial denial, want each other even more. Cop Secret embraces the genre’s more ludicrous tropes and gleefully squeezes them tighter. While a hard-hitting action flick, at its core is a tender romance. If Michael Bay made a gay Lethal Weapon…this would be what it looks like.

OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Miami’s 2022 line-up features more than 45 international features and documentary screenings, panel discussions, three shorts programs, exclusive virtual showings, Cocktails & Cinema Happy Hours and incredible parties across various venues in Miami-Dade County through May 1.

OUTrageous, OUTspoken, and OUTstanding, the 24th annual OUTshine Film Festival Miami is presented by Lexus, Gilead and Miami-Dade County.

Tickets for the Closing Film and Awards Afterparty are $35 and are available at www.outshinefilm.com. For additional information, call 877-766-8156 or visit outshinefilm.com. Follow us on Facebook @OUTshineFilmFestival, on Twitter @OUTshineFilm and on Instagram @OUTshineFilm.

For almost a year, Dustin Robinson, Esq. CPA has been hosting a monthly Psychedelic Series at Soho Beach House Miami. As a result of the series’ success, Robinson is partnering with Space Park Miami to host “Psychedelic Medicine: The Future of Mental Health” on Saturday, April 16.

Presented by Nucleus and LinkMiamiRebels, Michelle Weiner, DO, MPH, psychedelic expert at Spine and Wellness Centers of America, and Julia Mirer, MD, consultant in the emerging field of psychedelic medicine, will join Robinson for this free panel to discuss the progress in medicine with the help of psychedelics.

At the event, attendees will learn firsthand how psychedelics are paving the way for many medicinal advancements. The panel will follow the 4:20 p.m. Space Park Yoga class.

Dr. Michelle Weiner is double board-certified in Interventional Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Weiner focuses on diagnosing and treating spine and musculoskeletal pain as well as chronic migraines at the Spine and Wellness Centers of America. Her unique approach of personalized and preventative medicine focuses on empowering her patients to cultivate health using lifestyle and plant medicine. Her research focuses on using cannabis as a substitute for opioids in chronic pain patients and cannabis’ effect on seniors with chronic pain. Dr. Weiner is the Vice President of Mr. Psychedelic Law and on the Advisory Board for Iter Investments. She uses cannabis and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy as a catalyst to identify the root cause of one’s suffering, optimizing their quality of life.

Dr. Julia Mirer is a consultant in the emerging field of psychedelic medicine, serving as a bridge between eastern and western practices, committed to merging them to help create a new paradigm for integrative health and wellness. She was on the road to a career in pediatrics, but decided to shift gears to explore transformative medicine where she has found her calling in education and advocacy for the responsible use of these medicines. Dr. Mirer believes that a successful future for this field depends on the interplay between policy, research, and clinics and has therefore positioned herself to play a role in each. Nationally, she is an advisor for the Psychedelic Medicine Coalition, lobbying for NIH funding for psychedelic research. In Florida, she is a facilitator for FDA clinical trials with psychedelics. Most recently, Dr. Mirer joined Nushama as director of strategy, where she hopes to combine all her experience to create the vision of a new kind of healthcare system and facilitate Nushama’s goal of humanizing medicine.

Robinson is Founding Partner of Mr. Cannabis Law; Co-Founder of Mr. Psychedelic Law; and Managing Principal of Iter Investments. Along with Iter Investments, he recently launched Nucleus, a data-driven psychedelics platform that is focused on mental health data and technologies.
