Conductor Joseph Mechavich, Stage Director David Lefkowich, and French tenor Sébastien Guèze will present an overview of Florida Grand Opera’s production of Charles Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, and conduct a discussion of the opera’s particular challenges and the abundance of riches to be discovered as audiences experience it.
Florida Grand Opera will present Roméo et Juliette in Miami at the Adrienne Arsht Center from April 21 through May 5, and at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale on May 10 and 12, 2012.

He lives and works in Paris but his works of arts have been exhibited all around the world. His will be in residency at the Alliance française of Miami for a month, working on Calle Ocho and its jobs, workers, encounters. After a month of work, he will present an exhibition in the Alliance française’s premises

Moderated by Flaminia Gennary, Vizcaya Museum.

France and America have different views on heritage conservation. The conference will highlight the difficulties of the preservation of historical constructions and the specifics of conservation for 20th century buildings. It will be based on concrete cases, like the documentation experience of DoCOMOMO, or the struggle for the protection of the Marine Stadium, the Art Deco District in Miami and of the “Villa Savoye”, in Poissy (France), the monifesto of Le Corbusier’s new architecture.
Various panelists will share their experience and express their views, including French maître d’oeuvre at the Centre des Monuments nationaux, Stéphanie Celle : “Fighting for Heritage Preservation” could be her motto. Since 2000, she is working as an architect and urbanist of the state and has been in charge of the “bâtiments de France” in Paris where she filed and won a lawsuit against facadism operations, which she strongly opposed.
With the support of the Délégation générale of the Alliance française in the United States and the Centre des Monuments Nationaux. In collaboration with University of Miami, departement of architecture, Docomomo and Vizcaya Museum.

Prestigious “châteaux de plaisance†in Ile-de-France were originally built in a close relation to landscape, enjoying the proximity of the river Seine and of a forest. They were places for leisure, entertainment and poetry.
Two centuries later, the surroundings have become suburban. To exist, these châteaux must fit in the missing piece of the Greater Paris puzzle.

Renowned psychiatrist and international bestselling author, Dr. David Servan-Schreiber, shared in his latest book, Not The Last Goodbye, his experience of living through a grave illness and his state of mind as he faced death. As a specialist in care for the terminally ill, an advocate of patient empowerment, and a 19 year brain cancer survivor, Dr. Servan-Schreiber’s testimony is uniquely authoritative. He candidly discusses the daily trials of being gravely ill, how he found spiritual solace, and how to remain “in life†until the end.
Dr. Servan-Schreiber died peacefully last July, surrounded by friends and family, while listening to his favourite music as he had wished and planned.
His brother, Franklin, will be presenting the book and will share the lessons he learned from being a care giver to his brother.
