Ocean of Light And Sound w/ Laurence Elder, Nicole Henry, Carlomagno Araya, Mike Orta, Jamie Ousley & Wendy Pedersen.

The non-profit organization Waves For Change Alliance, Inc., will be hosting its inaugural benefit concert, Ocean of Light And Sound, at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Miami for the beneficiary Margo Gignac and her family on April 30, 2012 commencing at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7p.m.).

Ocean of Light and Sound will be the inaugural benefit concert to raise funds for the rehabilitation of Margo, a 21 year old ballet dancer who was involved in a devastating car accident in December 2010 that left her a quadriplegic. Her single mother was forced to quit her full-time job to become Margo’s caretaker, while also raising her two other children. They do not have the means to continue to fund Margo’s rehabilitation, which all the experts agree is necessary within the first two years from the injury for optimum recovery. Everyone at Waves For Change Alliance, along with recording artists, singer songwriters, film makers and other members of the arts community have come together in a short period of time to volunteer their services and talents towards the Ocean of Light and Sound concert to assist with Margo’s rehabilitation.

Ocean of Light and Sound will feature many of South Florida’s finest performing talent, including co-founder Laurence Elder as the musical director, Nicole Henry, Wendy Pedersen, Jamie Ousley, Carlomagno Araya, and Mike Orta, as well as special guest appearances by internationally acclaimed guest stars. The event will be catered by gourmet food truck vendors and other sponsors. Tickets range from $55.00 to $225.00 and can be ordered online at www.wavesfca.org. The concert will be broadcasted world-wide through live stream video. All proceeds from the concert will go towards the rehabilitation of Margo.

Waves For Change Alliance was created through a series of events that started with the desire to help Margo. The founders, Esperanza Segarra and Laurence Elder, joined together to help a fellow member of their community and performer in the arts that was in need. Thereafter, Esperanza, who is also an attorney, decided that the most efficient way to help, while also fulfilling a lifetime commitment and dream, was to form a nonprofit organization. The result was Waves For Change Alliance. The organization “is based on the concepts of global community and “paying it forward,” where people come together from around the world to raise funds through the collaboration of the arts community” said the co-founder and president, Esperanza.

The events presented by Waves For Change Alliance are “for the benefit of one cause that will continue to create waves of positive change that transcend all boundaries.”
Other close friends committed to the mission of Waves For Change Alliance quickly joined the organization. The directors, officers and volunteers of Waves For Change Alliance have united to raise awareness and assistance in positively changing our global community. The organization is composed of a volunteer network of individuals that reside in different regions of the world, including France, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Iran, and the United States, from an array of backgrounds in all fields of work with a focus and love for the arts. Though their backgrounds in life vary, it was a common goal and life-time commitment that brought them together. Ocean of Light and Sound is the first of many more collaborations for a cause presented by Waves For Change Alliance.
