House of Horror Haunted Carnival (HOH) has been scaring the living daylights out of the so-called unafraid. With four new haunted house experiences, a midway filled with unlimited carnival rides, food, and games, caretakers also vow to spook unsuspecting victims with every turn on their new Fireball Rollercoaster.

Beginning September 29 at 6PM, people can take their chances working their way through four terrifyingly, haunted experiences inside an abandoned department store at Miami International Mall. The following haunted experiences have been completely re-done to maximize their scare factor:

• The Silent Mall – Shhh….This is where Misshhhell will unleash her own level of “hell”. Try and stay quiet, if you dare.
• DrownTown – The undead are overflowing at this abandoned town seeking their revenge. Be quick about it, or risk becoming a permanent resident.
• Insanitorium – If by now your nerves are shot, don’t worry. Former patients have taken over the treatment of nervous breakdowns. Do check in. No health insurance required.
• Scare X Studios – Cleared of “almost” all paranormal activity, this immersive experience is where gaming and imagination takes center stage.

For 20 years, Miami International Mall has served as the ideal spot for this spooky, month-long adventure. Those fun-filled nights only get better on the HOH midway where a ticket to the haunted experiences also gives family and friends access to unlimited carnival rides and games. It’s also where overindulgence is highly encouraged given the large assortment of treats and carnival foods. Just be sure to rally enough courage to ride The Fireball Rollercoaster, which is a first this year.

Tickets are currently on sale for House of Horror Haunted Carnival at Miami International Mall. Doors open on September 29 and remain open every Tuesday through Sunday, all the way to Monday, October 31. HOH plans to incorporate special themed nights, including an adult Costume Contest on Halloween night, so be sure to follow them on social media for those drop dates!

South Florida’s highly anticipated South Beach Seafood Festival is back for its 10th anniversary with a celebration that is gearing up to be the biggest one yet. The festival features special programming, including a $10,000 chef prize and popular live music guests, that will raise the bar for one of the country’s leading seafood events. Taking place from Wednesday, October 19 through Saturday, October 22, the four-day festival is a curated culinary showcase that couples South Florida’s bounty of seafood with the region’s most notable chefs and restaurants. The South Beach Seafood Festival consists of four separate ticketed events taking place throughout the week. The festival begins on Wednesday, October 19th with “An Evening at Joe’s Stone Crab.” Next up, “Crabs, Slabs & Cabs,” takes place the following evening and offers a formal sit-down, five-course dinner highlighting ‘Surf n’ Turf’ reimagined by some of the Magic City’s leading chefs. The event is hosted by GOYA Foods’ Executive Chef Fernando Desa and includes participation from celebrated restaurateur and Pubbelly Sushi partner José Mendín; Fiola Miami’s Executive Chef Danny Ganem; and Meat Market Executive Chef and Owner Sean Brasel, among others. On Friday evening, the gloves come off as 16 of Miami’s top chefs go head-to-head in eight competitive seafood rounds during the annually sold out “Chef Showdown,” coined the ultimate beach bash on South Beach. To commemorate the festival’s 10-year anniversary, one participating chef with the most points of the night will take home a grand prize of $10,000. Uchi Miami, the stylish Wynwood restaurant known for its non-traditional take on Japanese cuisine, is kicking off a summer dinner series — a one-night-only, collaborative multi-course experience — on July 19 with Raheem Sealey of Drinking Pig BBQ, a locally loved food truck serving up some of the best barbecue in Miami. Both Sealey and Uchi’s experienced chefs will prepare a decadent multi-course meal at $150 per person, with drink pairings an additional $60 per person. Wow your palate with starters like the Tiger’s Milk Oysters, Don’t Be Shellfish (a house cold sampler) or mains like the SoFISHticated (whole fried red snapper for two, matched with house coleslaw, and tostones, or the SEAreal Griller (also for two, a grilled assortment of shrimps, clams, black mussels, scallops, and daily catch an award-winning green sauce), your taste buds will thank you. The varied menu includes many takes on familiar favorites, but reimagined. Chef Karlos Rodriguez Spranger created the menu, and his Peruvian-Portuguese origins definitely make their appearance.

For lovers of craft cocktails, this is your spot. There are 12 signature “potions that were crafted with curiosity”. As well as a fully stocked bar offering all libations and call brands. And for those who like to eat late, there is a “Drunk Late Menu” starting at 11:30PM featuring select menu items. Hookah lovers, they thought of you too!

Plenty of “wow” items to look at starting with a massive mermaid suspended overhead in the dining room, to chandeliers and murals that draw you into a world of being shipwrecked. Crab Du Jour, a popular Cajun-inspired seafood restaurant known for its ultimate seafood boils, will officially celebrate the grand opening of its fourth South Florida location at Deerwood Town Center (12075 SW 152nd Street) in Miami, Florida.

Known for its ultimate seafood boil, Crab Du Jour, which translates roughly to “crab of the day,” offers a unique dining experience featuring freshly prepared and made-to-order Cajun-inspired seafood boils and a variety of fresh high quality seafood selections, including clams, mussels, shrimp, crawfish, crab legs, lobster and more. Customers select their seafood, choose from an array of house-blended sauces like Cajun, garlic butter, Old Bay, lemon pepper, or ‘Du Jour’ which incorporates all of the options, customize their desired spice level, and add side items like corn, potatoes, and sausage. Truly experiential, each boil is served in a bag, which is shaken and presented tableside in front of guests.

In addition to the boils, the menu also includes Southern Cajun specialties and non-seafood dishes, from bourbon steak, chicken wings and hush puppies to Po’Boys, burgers, fried pickles, cheesesteak egg rolls and more, as well as a full-service bar.

Tickets are now on sale for the opening reception, which also serves as the official Stonewall PRIDE Month Kickoff event celebration, on Tuesday, May 31, from 6 – 8 p.m., at Galleria Fort Lauderdale.

It will be a night to remember as six drag pioneers are celebrated – South Florida’s own Nikki Adams, Tiffany Arieagus, Cathy Craig, Daisy Deadpetals, Electra and Latrice Royale. These treasured performers are being recognized for their longevity, entrepreneurship, roles on local television and international fame. The exhibit will include past and present images, videos, costumes and artifacts that tell the story of their illustrious careers.

The entire drag community will also be celebrated and represented with a “Wall of Fame” sponsored by Lips Fort Lauderdale and designed by acclaimed designer Robert Tabor. This tribute space will showcase many amazing local performers who currently grace the stages in bars, nightclubs, casinos and theater productions.

Memorable tribute performances will be done by Joanna James, Velvet Lenore and Erika Norell. Presentation hosts will be Shawn Palacious and Joe Posa as Joan Rivers with DJ Aulden Brown. Lips Fort Lauderdale, Stoli and Tulio’s Tacos and Tequila Bar will provide light bites and libations.

The eyelashes, nails and wigs are on as History Fort Lauderdale, celebrating 60 years of being the proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, presents “I Am What I Am: A Tribute to South Florida’s Drag Pioneers,” in honor of PRIDE Month (June 2022). This exciting and interactive free experience at Galleria Fort Lauderdale will pay tribute to the drag community who tirelessly entertain and support philanthropic endeavors.
