GOLDLAW is proud to serve as the Advocate Sponsor of Guardians for New Futures, Inc.’s (GFNF4Kids) 2026 Treasure Coast Child Summit, taking place Sept. 23-24, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Indian River State College Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex.

GFNF4Kids is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 1991 that works to educate the community on how to recognize and report abuse to protect a child from further harm, as well as educate those working closely with children on other issues impacting children. GFNF4Kids’ mission is to support the unfunded needs of abused children and underserved youth, while increasing community awareness and education to further protect children.

GFNF4Kids’ Treasure Coast Child Summit is a two-day child-focused conference that has taken place annually since 2011. Presentations are by professionals from multiple disciplines educating the community on the latest issues impacting children and strategies to further protect them from harm. Topics are the result of collaboration with a multitude of individuals and organizations within the community. The summit is an educational experience and training opportunity for professionals who work closely with children and others with an interest in issues concerning children in the community. Law enforcement, child advocates and special guest keynote speakers speak on topics regarding child abuse and safety.

Litigation Director Michael H. Kugler, Esq. of GOLDLAW in West Palm Beach, Florida, will take the stage for a special keynote speech on Sept. 23, from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. The keynote will explore past cases that Kugler prosecuted in both criminal and civil court against sexual predators, offering an inside look at how these cases unfolded. Drawing on this experience, Kugler will examine the pathology of offenders, including the calculated schemes predators use to access victims and cultivate their trust before the abuse begins. The keynote will also highlight strategies that law enforcement and prosecutors can employ to gather stronger evidence and build the most solid cases possible for prosecution. By addressing both child and adult victims, Kugler will underscore a central truth: trust and power are the defining forces behind sexual predation.

Kugler has dedicated his career to obtaining justice for all categories of victims of negligence. He approaches his cases with tenacity, compassion, and respect. His refreshing ability to relate to all clients in a unique and honest way shows them how willing he is to fight for their rights.

GOLDLAW Chief Legal Officer Spencer T. Kuvin, Esq. BCS’s presentation, “Epstein & Beyond,” on Sept. 23, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m., will discuss the Trafficking Victims Protection Act. Kuvin has litigated against Jeffrey Epstein for nearly 20 years and represented nine survivors, including Jane Doe #1 in Palm Beach, who was just 14 years old at the time. With over 25 years of experience representing survivors of sexual abuse and assault, Kuvin is highly regarded for his work in high-profile litigation involving sexual abuse, wrongful death and personal injury. He has also represented survivors in cases involving Hugh Hefner, Bill Cosby and others.

In partnership with SandyPines Residential Treatment Center, Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available for Psychologists, School Psychologists, Nursing, LCSW, LMFT and LMHC.

InterContinental Miami is featuring live interaction with local Mexican artist Vanessa Lustig and her husband Adam Lusting, co-founders of ATELIERLUSTIG. Born in Mexico and raised between Mexico City and Miami, Vanessa is an experimental artist, jewelry designer, and founder of the Artistic Wellbeing Initiative. Her multidisciplinary practice is informed by a background in design, psychology, photography and creativity research. Adam is a self-taught artist and GIA-certified Diamanteur specializing in custom jewelry, diamonds, and gemstones. Together they create hand-felted wool sculptures, hand-embroidery on large-scale paper and photographs, fiber artworks with gilded elements on silk, and installation works incorporating responsive light. Her love of yoga pushed Romina to pursue her 200-hr yoga teacher training in Orlando, FL and she now teaches in many different areas in Miami. This session will provide an opportunity to explore the relationship between artistic production, publishing, collecting and exhibition-making, and to gain a deeper understanding of the decisions that shape the circulation and reception of contemporary photography.

Faculty

Anastasia Samoylova is an American artist working across photography, painting, and installation. Her practice examines how contemporary life is shaped and mythologized through images, exploring the intersections of environmental crisis, consumer spectacle, politics, and visual culture.

Her first monograph, FloodZone, brought recognition for its portrayal of climate vulnerability and spectacle in South Florida. Floridas expanded this inquiry into a portrait of the state as a landscape of fantasy, contradiction, and power, culminating in Floridas: Anastasia Samoylova and Walker Evans at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Image Cities examined media saturation, advertising, and visual excess in global urban spaces, while her recent project Atlantic Coast retraces Berenice Abbott’s Route 1 journey in reverse, from Florida to Maine.

Samoylova’s work has been exhibited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Saatchi Gallery, C/O Berlin, Fundación MAPFRE, and the George Eastman Museum. Her work is held by MoMA, The Met, and Pérez Art Museum Miami, among others.

Get set for a raucous ride paying homage to everyone’s favorite drama queen, Joan Crawford, in the theater company’s revival of the hit world premiere of Michael Leeds’ Who Killed Joan Crawford? On a dark, stormy night in 1993, five men arrive at a cabin for a soap star’s surprise birthday party. Each guest has been asked to dress as the birthday boy’s favorite actress, Joan Crawford, in one of her signature roles… and the results aren’t pretty! As they wait for the star, the five “Joans” begin drinking and dishing. Dark secrets emerge and soon there’s one Joan less … and then another… leaving the remaining Joans — and the audience — asking, “Who Killed Joan Crawford?!”

The show is both written and directed by Michael Leeds. Leeds began his career performing on Broadway under the direction of such luminaries as Gower Champion, Ron Field, and Martin Scorsese before moving into directing, choreographing and writing. As a writer/director, Leeds is perhaps best known for writing and directing Swinging On A Star on Broadway, which received a Tony Award nomination for Best Musical. His plays also include The First Step, Impressions, The Gift, Starmaker, and his adaptation of Cole Porter’s Red, Hot And Blue which he directed at both Goodspeed Opera and PaperMill Playhouse as well as co-writing book, music and lyrics for Mating Habits of the Urban Mammal which has had productions throughout the country. For film, Leeds’ history with director Linda Yellen began when he choreographed End of Summer starring Jacqueline Bisset and Peter Weller. Since then he co-wrote with Yellen, The Simian Line starring William Hurt, Lynn Redgrave and Tyne Daly, The Last Film Festival starring Dennis Hopper and Jacqueline Bisset, Showtime’s Fluidity starring Nico Tortorella, and Chantilly Bridge, starring Lindsay Crouse, Jill Eikenberry, Ally Sheedy, Talia Shire, Patricia Richardson, Helen Slater and JoBeth Williams (Paramount+). His latest film, an adaptation of Stewart Lewis’s YA book, One Stupid Thing, starring Corey Fogelmanis (Girl Meets World), Skye Katz (Surviving Summer) and Jack White was awarded Best Picture at the Boston International Film Festival, Best Feature at the Edinburgh Film Festival, and is currently a semi-finalist in the London International Filmmakers Festival. As a director, aside from his Broadway credits, Leeds directed and choreographed the production of Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah – The Songs of Allan Sherman for which he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Best Director/Best Choreographer. Other Off Broadway credits include Showing Off, the York Theatre’s revivals of 70, Girls, 70 and Lerner & Lane’s Carmelina which he adapted with the original book writer Joe Stein. His production of the European premiere of Arthur Miller’s Playing For Time won the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival First Award. He also directed and choreographed A Little Night Music for the Houston Grand Opera and Marc Blitzstein’s Regina for Florida Grand Opera. In South Florida, he’s directed at GableStage, Palm Beach DramaWorks, Broward Stage Door Theatre and Island City Stage where he is associate artistic director. His many productions there have earned him South Florida’s highest honors: the Carbonell, Remy and Silver Palm Awards.

Join renowned collector and philanthropist Ella Fontanals-Cisneros for an intimate online conversation exploring photography through the eyes of one of the leading figures in collecting art from Latin America.

Guest Speaker

Ella Fontanals-Cisneros is a philanthropist, entrepreneur, and businesswoman in new technologies and other industries, as well as a collector of contemporary art since the 1970s. Her collection has an international profile with emblematic figures of modern and contemporary art, with a focus on Latin America, and today comprises more than 2,700 works across four core areas: Latin American geometric abstraction, contemporary international and Latin American art, contemporary video, and modern and contemporary photography.

In 2002, she established and presided over the non-profit Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO), a platform supporting emerging, mid-career, and established Latin American artists through its Grants & Commissions Program, Collection, and Traveling Exhibitions Program. Since its founding, CIFO has awarded more than $2.5 million to over 170 artists.

Fontanals-Cisneros has served on the boards of the Tate Americas Foundation, the ICA Miami, and the New Museum, among others. She remains CIFO’s Honorary President and an active collector.

Faculty

Anna Planas is Artistic Director of Paris Photo since 2023. She regularly serves on international juries, including the Hasselblad Award, Prix Elysée and Prix LE BAL pour la Jeune Création. She was previously Director of delpire & co, a Paris-based bookshop and gallery dedicated to photography, founded in 2020. In 2013, she co-founded Temple, a platform and gallery dedicated to emerging artists and artist books, where she organised exhibitions of more than thirty artists over four years, often for their first solo presentations. She has curated exhibitions with international institutions and festivals, including Les Rencontres d’Arles, Foto Colectania, Barcelona, and Fotomuseum Winterthur. She previously managed the Magnum Gallery for over seven years, until 2013.

At 7 p.m., Downtown Jazz After Dark keeps the celebration going throughout Downtown Hollywood with live music on multiple stages along Hollywood Boulevard and Harrison Street, including Tony and the Kings and JUke, with additional entertainment to be announced.

The two-day festival begins Friday, November 20 at 5 p.m. in conjunction with the City of Hollywood’s annual Tree Lighting festivities, with the official Tree Lighting at 7 p.m. and the Dillard Center for the Arts Jazz Ensemble at 8 p.m.

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for the ArtsPark performances. Outside food and beverages are not permitted.

PAWS4you Rescue will welcome award-winning children’s author Silvia López for a special reading of Happy Birthday Jose and Feliz, a bilingual picture book featuring José and his dog, Feliz. The family-friendly event will take place during PAWS4you’s regularly scheduled adoption event at PetSmart at The Falls.

The book reading will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and offer families an opportunity to introduce children to bilingual storytelling, literature, and the joy of animal companionship. Following the reading, López will be available to sell and sign copies of her book.

For Families with children ages 4 and up, book lovers, pet lovers. Silvia López, Author, an award-winning author of more than 20 children’s picture books, primarily bilingual or dual-language titles, including the José and El Perro series, coauthored with Broadway producer Susan Rose. AND PAWS4you Rescue, a nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to rescuing abandoned and homeless dogs and cats.

Writing Workshop

Inspired by Yuko Mohri’s exhibition, this workshop invites participants to explore what ordinary objects might reveal when we look beyond the visible. Mohri’s work draws attention to unseen relationships — between decay and transformation, matter and sound, time and perception. In this generative writing workshop, we’ll use surrealist poetry and imaginative prompts to enter that same territory on the page.

Together, we’ll read poems & prose that open strange and surprising connections between objects, then write from images, objects, sensations, and associations inspired by the exhibition. Participants will be encouraged to move past literal description and into surprise, mystery, and transformation — discovering how writing can make the invisible felt.

No prior writing experience is required. This workshop is for anyone curious about art, poetry, imagination, and the hidden life of the world around us.

Figure Drawing Workshop

In tandem with the museum’s featured exhibition by artist Yuko Mohri, Syntropy: Learning To See Is The First Step is an immersive workshop on November 15th that uniquely pairs live model figure drawing with still life compositions. The session connects Mohri’s focus on how everyday objects interact with the concept of syntropy—the idea of turning random, scattered pieces of life into a meaningful, orderly connection. Participants can expect a mindful, beginner-friendly practice that sharpens their visual awareness, showing how learning to see deeply allows us to bring the world around us into beautiful creative alignment and connection.

Photographing Myself: Bunny Yeager [in Dialogue with Aldeide Delgado, Naomi Fisher, and Val Souza] presents a feminist intervention by curator Aldeide Delgado into How I Photograph Myself (1964), a landmark photobook by pioneering Miami-based photographer Bunny Yeager (1929–2014).

Yeager began her career as a pin-up model before establishing herself as a photographer in the 1950s. Moving across photography, modeling, writing, filmmaking, and fashion, she became one of the most influential figures in American photography of the 1950s and 1960s.

In How I Photograph Myself, Yeager turned the camera toward herself, staging her image through clothing, makeup, hairstyles, poses, props, and locations. Taking the book as its point of departure, the exhibition presents selected and intervened fragments from the publication, contextualizing Yeager’s photoperformative practice through her own voice and reconsidering her legacy through questions of agency, self-representation, the male gaze, and female spectatorship.

Yeager’s work enters into dialogue with contemporary artists Naomi Fisher and Val Souza, whose practices explore desire, feminism, performance, the body, and visual culture. The exhibition presents rarely seen work by Miami-based Fisher and marks the first presentation of Brazilian artist Val Souza’s work in the United States.

Join us for Opening Night, Saturday, September 19, from 6–9 PM, and experience an intergenerational conversation about women taking control of the camera and their own image.

Join “In Need of Temperance” exhibiting artist Monica Czukerberg as she leads a Textile Collage Workshop you won’t want to miss.

As an extension of the themes of her group exhibition In Need of Temperance, alongside Amanda Kate Walker and Katie Davis, Czukerberg will be hosting a beginner friendly Textile Collage Workshop focusing on floral patterns that relish on the beauty of emotional expression. Inspired by the native flora of Mexico, Czukerberg will continue her exploration of how abstraction can be a conduit for the translation of our emotional world and our sensory experiences with nature.

Important Note for Participants:
Each participant would create a small textile collage on a canvas with materials all provided by the gallery and the artist. The idea is to use geometric patterned fabrics as the background and then layer pre-cut fabric flowers and leaves to create a unique floral composition. It is an accessible, fun, and creative workshop that works well for participants of all artistic levels.

The gallery will also be serving non-alcoholic beverages for all, and alcoholic beverages for participants 21+ .

Sounds of Screams (SOS), a full-scale, multimillion-dollar Halloween amusement park is taking over the Miami-Dade Fair & Expo Center. The massive new attraction features 13 acres of fear including five haunted houses, immersive scare zones (like a creepy cemetery), carnival rides, live entertainment, food (from horror-themed treats and gourmet street food to desserts), drinks and an adults-only psychological horror experience to Miami. The five haunted houses are as follows:

• Mitos: Takes visitors on an immersive descent into the legends of Latin America, stories whispered for generations and the unknown that refuses to stay buried. These are not just tales… they are warnings. Step into a forgotten Mexican pueblo, where something is already waiting for you. As you move deeper, you’ll cross into Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Puerto Rico, and beyond.

• The Trials of 1692: Step back into 1692 and experience the terror of the Salem witch trials. Witness a trial unfold in the courtroom, find yourself imprisoned alongside accused witches, escape into Salem Village, and enter the infamous Witch’s House, where dark rituals and forbidden magic come alive.

• The Infected: A classified life engineering corporation fell silent the moment an outbreak began. Doors sealed, personnel trapped, infection spreading in the Lab. Now, a crashed delivery truck has ripped open the only way inside. Step through the wreckage and descend into the lab’s twisted remains, where something is still alive… and it’s waiting. There is 100% chance that all guests will experience close range encounters.

• Dead End: An abandoned car lot full of surprising characters enclosed within a perimeter wall of old shipping containers. Guests will walk through a mysterious collection of junk cars and will have to figure out how to find their way back to the amusement park.

Salsa & Sip is back at Hoy Como Ayer in Little Havana for a second season, kicking off Thursday, September 10 and continuing every Thursday through November 19 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Lighthouse of Broward invites the community to experience the 12th Annual Dining in the Dark: Studio 54, presented by the Josephine S. Leiser Foundation, on Saturday, November 14, beginning at 6 p.m. at Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, 1111 N. Ocean Drive in Hollywood.
Inspired by the glamour and excitement of New York City’s legendary Studio 54, the ballroom will be transformed into a glittering, dazzling, disco celebration while giving guests a unique opportunity to better understand the experiences of individuals who are visually impaired or blind.
The evening kicks off with a lively cocktail reception, where guests can peruse the enticing silent auction and enjoy the sounds from the American Heritage High School Rock Band. Guests will then enter the ballroom for an immersive dining experience designed to heighten the senses through rich textures, enticing aromas and bold flavors. During the evening, guests will be invited to wear blindfolds, offering a firsthand glimpse into navigating the world without sight.
Following dinner, guests will enjoy special awards presentations, an exciting live auction, music by the electrifying ReaXtion band and a high-energy dance party inspired by the iconic disco era.

Celebrate the unofficial end of summer along Fort Lauderdale’s Intracoastal with Labor Day Weekend at Shooters Waterfront.

From Saturday, Sept. 5 through Monday, Sept. 7, guests can enjoy a Labor Day Brunch Buffet ($65 adults; $45 children), featuring carving stations, made-to-order omelets and waffles, assorted sushi, smoked salmon, breakfast favorites, burgers, ribs and mini desserts.

The celebration continues into the evening with the return of Shooters’ Summer Solstice Buffet, available Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7 from 5 to 10 p.m. ($65 adults; $45 children). The summer-inspired spread features grilled ribeye steak, lemon-thyme roasted chicken, seared salmon with mango pico de gallo, seafood paella and seasonal sides. Join us for an evening with Cristina Soriano as she discusses her new book project, “Between Two Crowns: Trinidad and the Trans-imperial Age of Revolutions” in a presentation moderated by Jay I. Kislak Chair and Curator Daniel Arbino.

In the book, Soriano explores revolutionary transformations in the Atlantic World from the perspective of a trans-imperial colony. She focuses on the island of Trinidad in the late 18th century during the transition from Spanish to British rule, analyzing the ways by which imperial forces and colonial governments implemented innovative empire-building strategies to deal with revolutionary change.

“Between Two Crowns” seeks to reconstruct the history of the multiple “experiments” undertaken by the Spanish and British empires in a multiracial, multilingual, and multicultural island during the challenging period of the Atlantic Revolutions.

Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A with the audience.

(CBCI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering youth development, family strengthening, and community empowerment services to underserved populations, will recognize outstanding individuals and companies for their contributions to help improve the quality of life for local children and families during its fifth annual Green Blazer Awards Gala & Celebration to be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, at the Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort (321 N.
