History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will present “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” from Thursday, July 9, through Sunday, September 13. This free summer fine art exhibit exploring Florida’s evolving natural and urban landscapes will feature works by award-winning artist Tim Forman and photographer David Paulo plus contextual historical maps of our timeless state.

Visitors to History Fort Lauderdale’s “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” will experience Tim Forman’s artfully curated oil on canvas masterworks of the Florida Everglades, waterscapes, beachscapes and natural wildlife. These landscapes are complemented by David Paulo’s bold photographic narrative of buildings and neighborhoods in South Florida that are significant to culture and life of minority communities. Documented cities include Sistrunk, Lauderhill, and Dania Beach. Historical maps of Florida from pre-Revolutionary War/Spanish Florida in 1749 to British controlled Florida in 1763 to Florida as a U.S. state in 1845 and illustrative panels will context and clarity about our history.

“Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” is part of History Fort Lauderdale’s contribution to America’s 250 activities. On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.

Support for History Fort Lauderdale’s “Timeless Tropics: Florida’s Changing Landscape” exhibit has been provided by the following Funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: Jan and Ed Crocker Unrestricted Fund, Leo M. and Alice J. Rutten Fund, and The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Broward Community Fund. Additional funding is provided, in part, by Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward County Cultural Council and Visit Lauderdale.

History Fort Lauderdale offers a variety of engaging multicultural experiences throughout the year. It seeks to bring awareness to the community through both traveling exhibits and multiple permanent displays including “Women Trailblazers,” “Fort Lauderdale – the Early Years,” “Roots of Resilience: The Journey of Black Broward,” “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts: The Story of Boatbuilding Along the New River,” “Seminole Arts & Culture,” “New River Archaeology,” “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture,” “The Growth and History of the Broward County Sheriff’s Office,” and “Take PRIDE, a Retrospective on LGBTQ Life in South Florida.”

History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under. Join Museum of Miami’s Resident Historian, Dr. Paul George, as he recounts the history of Biscayne Bay. Discover the storied past of Stiltsville, a series of colorful wooden houses built on the flats of the bay and located inside Biscayne National Park. Known in the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s as a playground for the wealthy and well-connected, Stiltsville was once home to the now infamous Crawfish Eddies and Bikini Club. Learn how this once vivacious community on stilts dwindled down to the seven houses that remain today. Dr. George will narrate and share stories of nefarious gangsters, stunning graffiti, and fabulous parties while guests cruise past the Cape Florida Lighthouse, Key Biscayne, and the City of Miami.

Today, Biscayne National Park and the Stiltsville Trust work together to support the preservation of the remaining Stiltsville houses so that future generations can experience its unique history.

Our annual Women’s Equality Day event is back! Join us for an uplifting celebration that honors the past, amplifies voices in the present, and imagines a more equitable future through the performing arts. Enjoy an inspiring evening of live theatre, song, and dance honoring the voices and achievements of women across generations.
Observed annually on August 26, Women’s Equality Day commemorates the 1920 ratification of the 19th Amendment, which granted many American women the right to vote. The official day of observance was established in 1971 thanks in part to advocacy by Congresswoman Bella Abzug, a staunch member of the women’s rights movement in the 1960s and 1970s.
August 26th is now a day to recognize our nation’s progress toward gender equality while also acknowledging the work still to be done.
Doors will open at 6:00pm for the reception. Food and drinks are included in admission.
Community partners will display related exhibits in the lobby.
Live performances in the theater will begin promptly at 7:00pm.
The program will be approximately 1-hour long.

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the Coral Gables Museum presents the world premiere of Many Voices, One Nation: En Nuestras Palabras is a landmark exhibition exploring how diverse communities across the United States have shaped, and continue to shape, the American story.
Developed by the Allapattah Collaborative CDC in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution and Florida Humanities, the exhibition weaves together Smithsonian-curated content with local historical photographs, art, artifacts, video testimonials, and oral histories. Visitors will encounter narratives of expansion, freedom, inclusion, equality, migration, and cultural negotiation drawing particular attention to the voices of Caribbean and Latin American immigrants whose stories are woven into the fabric of South Florida and the nation.
As the country marks 250 years of nationhood, this exhibition invites all Americans to reflect on what unity means when it is built from many languages, many origins, and many lived experiences.

Hard Rock Bet is bringing together Michael Irvin, Pro Football Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl Champion, and Carlos “El Pibe” Valderrama, legendary former captain of the Colombian National Team and one of the most recognizable soccer players in history, for a one-day venue takeover of La Sandwicherie — transforming the beloved Miami landmark into the Hard Rock Bet Super Sub Shop. The 55th Annual Holiday Parade takes place DECEMBER 12, 2026 starting in the Downtown Area at the new time of 6:00 PM with a pre-show of non-motorized vessels at 5:30 p.m. The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade will stage on the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale, along the docks west of Stranahan House to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

The Parade starts at Stranahan House, traveling East along the New River in Fort Lauderdale to the Intracoastal Waterway and continues North to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. It’s 12 Miles of the “Best Show on H20.” The Parade takes approximately 2 and 1/2 hours to view from one location (starting locations stagger as you travel north).

Private boats, giant showboats and corporate megayachts will be adorned with hundreds of thousands of lights, music, entertainment, decorations, celebrities, musical groups, beauty queens, and many other exciting entries expected to be viewed by over one million spectators.

Bring the kids to Wynwood this summer for a free morning on the pitch. The For the Wyn Soccer Clinics welcome children ages 6 to 10 for hands-on sessions in a relaxed, encouraging setting, with drills, skills training, games and refreshments from local Wynwood vendors. Every skill level is welcome, whether your child is lacing up for the first time or already lives for the game.

Each session runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon and is open to 50 children, so families are encouraged to register early. Coaches focus on the fundamentals of passing, dribbling and teamwork while keeping the morning light and fun, the kind of low-pressure start that helps new players fall for the sport and gives experienced ones room to grow. Water and refreshments are provided. Kids should arrive in comfortable clothes and sneakers or cleats, ready to play.

The clinics are produced by the Wynwood Business Improvement District in partnership with the Lighthouse Foundation and Fútbol Sin Barreras, two organizations working to widen access to soccer for young people across Miami. The sessions take place on a site generously donated by More Development at 2045 NW 2nd Avenue, in the heart of the neighborhood.

The clinics are part of Let’s Wyn, Wynwood’s summer celebration of soccer, art, food and community running June 11 through July 18. Families can turn a clinic morning into a full day in the neighborhood, with museums, galleries, restaurants and family attractions just steps away. Nearby favorites include the Museum of Graffiti and its Art of Fútbol exhibit, the Paradox Museum, FunDimension, Puttery and Wynwood Walls. Visitors can also follow the Soccer Ball Art Trail, a series of hand-painted soccer balls by Wynwood artist Lili Cantero placed at businesses throughout the district.

Going for the gold! GOLDLAW is teaming up with DAS Beer Garden to host a Street Soccer Party in Downtown Abacoa. When all eyes are on the world’s biggest stage, the community is invited to watch the world’s biggest soccer tournament at DAS Beer Garden, Jupiter’s neighborhood hangout and taproom, on Sunday, July 19, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The free family-friendly event is open to the public.

Soccer, football, fútbol – whatever fans want to call it – DAS Beer Garden has got it. GOLDLAW is proud to host the Second Annual GOLDLAW ‘Back to School Bash,’ a family-focused event designed to give back to the local community and help students start the school year fully prepared. The free event will take place at the Student Life Center at Keiser University in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday, July 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and requires pre-registration.

As part of this free community-driven event, GOLDLAW will be giving away 1,000 backpacks filled with essential school supplies to elementary, middle and high school students while supplies last. Each backpack will include color pencils, notebooks provided by AlphaGraphics of Palm Beaches, and pencil kits with #2 pencils, a sharpener, an eraser, a ruler, and a pouch provided by Halo Branded Solutions. Families will walk away with not only supplies, but also academic resources to help them succeed all year long.

Attendees can enjoy a day of fun and entertainment with a variety of family-friendly activities, including interactive games, an airbrush artist, face painting, and community resource vendors. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to win exciting giveaways at intervals during the event. Free lunch will be provided while supplies last.

Attendees will enjoy free sweet treats from GOLDLAW’s new Sweet Justice Ice Cream Truck. The Sweet Justice ice cream truck is a symbol of GOLDLAW’s commitment to giving back to the community it has proudly served for over 20 years. The Historic Stranahan House Museum – the oldest house in Fort Lauderdale and the epicenter of Broward County’s long and fascinating history – is excited to host its Fourth Annual Founding Families Fall Festival. The Museum of Graffiti celebrates the grand opening of The Art of Futbol presented by Modelo on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 7 to 10 p.m. in Wynwood.

This free, immersive soccer-inspired art experience transforms an entire building adjacent to the Museum into a celebration of futbol, street culture, and Miami’s creative community. Guests can explore a fully turfed environment, artist-customized foosball tables, bold photo moments, works by local artists, and an interactive community artwork created through participants’ own kicking movements.

The June 13 opening event gives guests the first look at the exhibition before its public run from June 14 through July 18, 2026. The Cars & Croquetas fundraiser by Chef Michael Beltran of Ariete Hospitality Group brings together delicious food, classic cars, and the Miami community for a great cause at a new, iconic location.

On Fontainebleau’s poolside lawn, check out classic car displays from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s while enjoying croquetas and BBQ classics from Chug’s Diner, Drinking Pig BBQ, and Fontainebleau’s culinary team. Cocktails by J.F. Haden’s will also be available for purchase.

Community-Based Connections, Inc. (CBCI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering youth development, family strengthening, and community empowerment services to underserved populations, will present Fatherhood Week 2026, a multi-day community initiative taking place June 16–18 throughout Palm Beach County. In recognition of Father’s Day, the community program is centered around the theme Fathers, Faith & Family.

The impactful initiative will provide fathers, father figures, and men throughout Broward with opportunities to engage in conversations focused on mental health awareness, economic empowerment, family connection, domestic violence awareness, mentorship, and community support. It will focus on healing through shared experiences to break generational trauma, promote brotherhood and accountability, and build stronger support systems for fathers and families.

The initiative serves as an extension of CBCI’s nationally recognized fatherhood program, Awesome Dads Awesome Men (A.D.A.M.), a mentoring program funded by the Jim Moran Foundation for fathers and men. The program takes an evidence-based approach, recognizing the needs of fathers – helping them strengthen family relationships, improve parenting skills, increase economic stability, and become more actively engaged in the lives of their children.

Through its “Find Your One” process, PURRR’s team helps future cat moms and dads find their soul cat and guides them every step of the way.

With over 150 adoptable cats, the PURRR team knows every cat – their personality, history, quirks and what kind of home they need to become themselves fully. Whether future cat parents are seeking a playful and energetic kitten, a calm and cuddly adult cat, or a wise and gentle senior, PURRR’s diverse selection of feline friends ensures there’s a perfect match for every home. Soul cat profiles built around personality are available on each feline friend in PURRR’s care.

The “Find Your One” experience starts with filling out an application to help PURRR’s team understand the adoptee’s preferences, lifestyle, and what they’re looking for in a cat companion. About the Artist

O. Gustavo Plascencia is a visual artist and educator whose creative work documents local ecosystems and practices walking methodologies to create a record of his surroundings. He explores the intersection of photography, nature, and memory, presenting landscapes as silent witnesses to personal and collective histories. His practice also focuses on the duality between the personal and the communal, and the self and society. Plascencia attended the Escuela de Artes Plásticas “Ruben Herrera” in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, before immigrating to the USA. He has held several academic appointments at the University of North Texas, Memphis College of Art, and Lycoming College before being appointed Dean of Visual Arts at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, FL.

Romina (Romi) began practicing yoga back in 2017, the physical aspect of yoga served as a launch pad and she quickly fell in love with the practice and aimed to explore many different types of yoga. A practice that was a hobby quickly turned into a passion. Her love of yoga pushed Romina to pursue her 200-hr yoga teacher training in Orlando, FL and she now teaches in many different areas in Miami. Romina enjoys teaching vinyasa flow and gentle flows with creative transitions, focusing on strengths, stability and alignment.

Whether you are a beginner or advance practitioner, using movement and breathwork, rest assure you’ll leave feeling transformed in all aspects of the mind, body, and spirit.

Community-Based Connections, Inc. (CBCI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering youth development, family strengthening, and community empowerment services to underserved populations, will present Fatherhood Week 2026, a multi-day community initiative taking place June 20–28 throughout Broward County. In recognition of Father’s Day, the community program is centered around the theme Fathers, Faith & Family.

The impactful initiative will provide fathers, father figures, and men throughout Broward with opportunities to engage in conversations focused on mental health awareness, economic empowerment, family connection, domestic violence awareness, mentorship, and community support. It will focus on healing through shared experiences to break generational trauma, promote brotherhood and accountability, and build stronger support systems for fathers and families.

The initiative serves as an extension of CBCI’s nationally recognized fatherhood program, Awesome Dads Awesome Men (A.D.A.M.), a mentoring program funded by the Jim Moran Foundation for fathers and men in Broward County. The program takes an evidence-based approach, recognizing the needs of fathers – helping them strengthen family relationships, improve parenting skills, increase economic stability, and become more actively engaged in the lives of their children.

Join the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at the Freedom Tower for a screening of Estamos Conectados.

This documentary, directed by Ernesto Fundora, explores the life and work of Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, one of Cuba’s most unconventional artists, who defied the Cuban regime through performance art.

His activism eventually led to the rise of the political resistance movement Movimiento San Isidro, named after the street where he lived. His relentless opposition to the Cuban government inspired the anthem “Patria y Vida” which galvanized a generation of young Cubans and helped spark the historic anti-government protests of July 11, 2021.

Now imprisoned for his political activism, Luisma, as he is known to his supporters, was named by Time magazine as one of the 50 most influential people of our era.

This event is presented in conjunction with the Institute for Freedom in the Americas at Miami Dade College.

Tal Cohen (Piano)
Tal Cohen is a Grammy award-winning jazz pianist currently located in Miami. He has received acclaim including winning the Barry Harris National Piano Competition and was the recipient of the prestigious Freedman Fellowship, performing to a sold-out crowd at the Sydney Opera House.

Tal Cohen has played with Terence Blanchard, Greg Osby, Ignacio Berroa, and Joe Lovano. He currently leads his ensemble which has performed at festivals and venues that include Jazzbez Jazz Festival (Ukraine), Detroit Jazz Festival, Melbourne Jazz Festival (Australia), and a three-week residency at the Black Cat (San Francisco).

Martin Bejerano is an acclaimed jazz pianist, composer, and educator based in Miami. He is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Jazz Piano Program at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.

Bejerano is known for his dynamic performances as both a solo artist and as a longtime member of legendary drummer Roy Haynes’ Fountain of Youth band. His career includes performances at major jazz festivals worldwide, several acclaimed recordings, and collaborations with leading jazz musicians.

Bejerano is recognized for his innovative approach to jazz piano, blending Latin influences with contemporary jazz idioms.

Orchestra Miami’s Saturdays at Trinity Chamber Music Series continues this month with La Musique Nouvelle: Art Nouveau Music in France. Performed in the historic sanctuary of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Downtown Miami, this concert features the outstanding musicians of Orchestra Miami performing music by Georges Bizet, Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Ravel and Fracis Poulenc.

This concert, performed on Saturday, June 13th at 7 PM, focuses on the lush and opulent music of the Art Nouveau era (roughly 1885 to the 1930’s). This period is known for its opulence, lushness and eclecticism- music that was often theatrical, grandly scaled, and adorned with complex harmonies.

The program includes the Piano Quartet in C Minor by Gabriel Fauré. Full or warmth and optimism, this phenomenal work spans compositional influences from the Romantic to the Impressionistic era. Orchestra Miami’s Concert Master Mei Mei Luo performs the bravura Carmen Fantasy by Pablo Sarasate, a virtuosic take on the themes from Georges Bizet’s most famous work, Carmen. The art of the chanson is represented by the Cinq mélodies populaires grecques (Five popular Greek songs) by Maurice Ravel, an exquisite example of impressionism performed by tenor Gerardo José Ortega. The final piece on the program is the light-hearted and satiric Wind Sextet by Francis Poulenc, a pinnacle masterpiece of the woodwind repertoire.

The performers include some of Orchestra Miami’s finest musicians- Mei Mei Luo, violin; Anthony Seepersad, violin; Mujan Hosseinzadeh, viola; Ashley Garritson, cello; Elissa Lakofsky, flute, Kendra Hawley, oboe; Richard Hancock, clarinet; Gabrielle Hsu, bassoon and special guest tenor Gerardo José Ortega, performing alongside Orchestra Miami’s Artistic Director Elaine Rinaldi at the piano.

Half a century after the start of Cuba’s military involvement in Angola, the war remains one of the most consequential yet least discussed experiences of the revolutionary period. For the tens of thousands of Cubans who served overseas between 1975 and 1991—as soldiers, teachers, doctors, and technicians—the conflict left lasting personal and social scars that have often been overshadowed by triumphalist official narratives.

South Florida Symphony Orchestra’s (SFSO’s) closes out its popular Summer with the Symphony chamber music series with a final intimate candlelit concert in Fort Lauderdale including a special meet-and-greet reception with the musicians.

Bids a delightful farewell with a “Sweet Serenade.” Dohnányi’s tender Serenade for String Trio and Dvořák’s spirited Piano Quartet No. 2, Op. 87 unfolds with exquisite lyricism and heartfelt expression, creating a joyous finale. Musicians Huifang Chen (violin), Brando Wu (viola), Claudio Jaffe (cello), and Catherine Lan (piano) will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, at Coral Gables’ Sanctuary of the Arts.

Hued Songs presents The Juneteenth Experience MainStage Performance, the artistic centerpiece of its annual Juneteenth series. Now in its sixth year, the free concert-theater production brings together live music, spoken word, dance, choreography and visual storytelling to honor Juneteenth and celebrate Black artistic tradition as central to the American story. This year’s performance unfolds under Hued Songs’ season theme, “We, Too, Sing America,” inspired by the Langston Hughes poem, and asks: Who is America, and who gets to say so?

The performance moves through gospel, blues, R&B and classical traditions, tracing the influence of Black communities on American sound and culture. The Juneteenth Experience returns to the Miami Beach Bandshell, where it began in 2021, and makes its debut at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center in Fort Lauderdale.

The event starts with a pre-event celebration.
