Jungle Island takes young explorers on an exciting odyssey jammed-packed with the wildest animal interactions known to mankind during its thrilling Ed-venture Camps. Available for kids’ ages 5 to 12 years-old, the educational outdoor winter camp teaches campers about nature’s wonders while getting them up-close-and-personal to lemurs from Madagascar, Australian red kangaroos, giant Aldabra tortoises and much more. Camps also include an exploration of the park and its 450 animals, special hands-on activities, jungle-themed arts & crafts, story-time and snacks. Miami International Auto Show is back for its 45th edition with more surprises than ever. Vitamin C Communications and one of the highest luxury brand cars is inviting you to come view live performances by the newest up-and-coming Latin Music artists on Saturday November 7 and Sunday, November 8. The guests will enjoy the shows while exploring what the new car models have to offer. A meet and greet with the artists will also occur after each performance.

The Miami International Auto Show is considered among America’s top five auto shows. This year Vitamin C and their partners introduce four of the hottest emerging Latin Music artists in the industry. The first performance by Leslie Cartaya on Saturday, Novemebr 7 at 2PM kicks off the event. Cartaya is a singer-songwriter from Cuba who has released five albums since 2008, and received a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist. The second performance commences at 7PM by Fulanito, the Dominican-American musical group, sets the atmosphere for the rest of the night combining traditional merengue with other genres such as hip-hop, bachata, and house.

Sunday, November 8, brings two exciting performances. Pedro Capó, at 2PM, a musician from Puerto Rico, starts off the evening. Capó’s lyrics focus on his views about human reality, social issues, every-day experiences, women, and love. Last, but definitely not least, Pinto, at 7PM, a Puerto-Rican artist, composer, producer, and vocal coach at El Cartel Records that works hand-in-hand with infamous Latino artist Daddy Yankee, closes the night. Guests who stick around till the end will have the opportunity to meet & greet each artist.

Bonafide burger aficionados were able to sink their teeth into gourmet burgers dreamed up by more than twenty of Coral Gables’ premier restaurants. The burger bonanza also kicked-off Miami Live Month (www.MiamiLiveMonth.com), a premier program of the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Samuel Adams and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) have partnered for a fourth year to present this mouth-watering burger event. Each month the Italian wine dinner will showcase a four-course menu, which will be curated and prepared by the award-winning culinary team from Toscana Divino. Our inaugural wine dinner in the “Behind the Red Curtain: An Exclusive Tour of Italy” took us to Tuscany featuring Castello D’Albola. The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO) will present the first solo exhibition in the United Stated of seminal Cuban artist Gustavo Pérez Monzón. The exhibition, which brings together more than 70 works created between 1979 and the late 1980’s, provides a close look at the artist’s practice during the final decade that he lived and worked in Cuba. This program represents guitar music by composers from various countries and continents. Featured European composers include Scelsi, Stanczyk, Zavala and Duran-Loriga. Music by Louis Aguirre (born in Cuba and residing in Denmark) is also included. The Canadian Evelin Ramon, Dorothy Hindman of the US and Armando Rodriguez Ruidiaz (US/Cuba) complete the program. Andersen will continue his journey to Cuba, presenting concerts in La Habana, Las Tunas, Guantanamo and Santiago de Cuba.
Guitarist Mikkel Andersen was born in Denmark in 1972. He travels around the world with his guitar presenting contemporary music for him by composers from Europe and the Americas. He released two albums, one in 2009 and the second in 2012 featuring standard guitar repertoire, which he has presented in Europe and South America. Apart from his soloist career, he also leads the Copenhagen Guitar School – Casa de la guitarra.

In collaboration with the Harold Golen Gallery, FETA Foundation presents Stephen Marotto in a program of music for solo cello and electronics, all of which explore the boundaries of the instrument in a unique way. “In ImagE, Roger Reynolds creates beautiful textures that juxtapose the natural harmonics and resonance of the instrument with virtuosic grace note flurries. Mark Andre knits a delicate sound world, most of which occupies the space on the threshold of silence in iv 2. The music utilizes physical gestures on the instrument that are precisely mapped out, mediating un-pitched materials to create tension. In contrast, Mourning Fog by Rand Steiger features beautiful melodic figures derived from distinct harmonic spectra. The cello is augmented by live electronics. The cello sounds are recorded, processed and then recombined. The final piece, Salvatore Sciarrino’s Ai Limiti Della Notte unleashes the tensions hidden in the residuals of the strings.”

In collaboration with the St. Bede Episcopal Chapel, FETA Foundation presents Andy Lee in a contemporary piano performance. The program opens with a piece by Greek-Canadian composer Constantine Caravassilis, Fantasia No. 5, Lumen de Lumine. Inspired by the church bells of Pythagorion, the music seems to emerge from the depths of the piano into lush chords and repeating figures. The second work, Scott Unrein’s “bird-drawn in the sky of light,” was premiered by R. Andrew Lee in 2013 during his UK tour. Written in discrete musical cells, the performer is afforded the freedom to choose what elements of each cell are played and for how long. The second half of the program will be Adrian Knight’s “Obsessions.” Commissioned by Lee, this work presents an extended exploration of stubborn habits, routines, and patterns layered over Knight’s beautiful, extended harmonic language. The Kiwanis of Little Havana is set to host its 39th Annual Christmas Gala, with support from BMW, Bacardi, Coca-Cola, AT&T and Heineken. Proceeds from the annual fundraising event will benefit various Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation projects, including “A Toy for Every Child” and “Adopt-a-Family” holiday initiatives, as well as the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation Future Leaders Through Education Scholarship Fund.

“We are excited to continue honoring the club’s 40th anniversary during our annual Christmas Gala and raise the funds needed to provide gifts, meals and essential items to thousands of families during the holidays and beyond,” said Tony Lorenzo, chairman of the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation. “We are grateful for our corporate and community partners who help our members and volunteers further our mission of giving back to those in need, one child and one community at a time.”

Guests will dance to the rhythm of live performances by internationally renowned Grammy-award winner, legendary Cuban-American music icon and past King of Carnaval Miami (1993) Willy Chirino, Grammy-award winning Cuban-music sensation and past Queen of Carnaval Miami (2005) Albita, along with 80s disco-diva and queen of freestyle, Shannon. The Nation’s Top Athletes in Men’s & Women’s Bodybuilding, Men’s & Women’s Physique, Figure & Bikini Compete

MIAMI – The streets of Downtown Miami will be overrun with hot bodies come November 20th as THE highest ranked and most competitive event of the year held by the “National Physique Committee”(NPC) comes to the James L. Knight Center in Miami (400 SE 2nd Ave.)

National tittles and pro competitive status will be awarded to the winners allowing them to compete on the IFBB Pro Grand Prix Tour. The foremost athletes in each bodybuilding class, including figure, bikini, men’s & women’s physique will be judged on a variety of criteria.

The two top class winners in Men’s Bodybuilding and the 1st Place Class winners in Women’s Bodybuilding will be eligible for International Federation of Body Building (IFBB) Pro status. The top two winners in each of the six height classes in the Women’s Figure and Bikini divisions as well as the first two in each height class in both Men’s and Women’s Physique divisions attain IFBB status.

This yearly event, produced by New York’s Stonecutter Event Promotions, Inc, attracts approximately 1,000 competitors from around the 50 states and is sponsored by the leading brands in physical fitness, including: GNC, ABB Performance, Optimum Nutrition, MET-RX, Body Fortress, Infinite Labs, OhYeah!, BSN, Bodybuilding.com and NPC News.

This yearly event attracts TV and feature film stars, sports celebs from the likes of the UFC, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB and more.

Miami’s globally-recognized annual Stone Crab season kicked off at the 3rd annual South Beach Seafood Festival. Thousands flocked to 7th & Ocean Drive to experience the seasonal selections of Miami’s top chefs and restaurants during the all-day festival. The South Beach Seafood Festival also featured live music, culinary and mixology demonstrations, a kid’s zone, health village, and VIP hospitality benefits. There was fun for all ages with countless interactive zones, retail villages, and a sports bar showing the day’s college football match-ups right on the sand.

A portion of proceeds from the South Beach Seafood Festival benefit the Community Initiatives Foundation, who’s program EAT SMART fulfills the perfect balance between youth nutrition and childhood development by providing healthy weekend meals and frequent outdoor activity to children in Miami Beach.

Zoo Miami again will host a 5K race it can call its own! Zoo Miami Foundation (formerly Zoological Society of Florida) and West Kendall Baptist Hospital have partnered to offer two fun, wild events on November 14, 2015. Unlike other 5Ks and walks held at the zoo, this event will offer benefits that only the team at the zoo can offer, running through the Zoo Miami exhibit path.

The ZooRun5K presented by Gilly Vending, which sold out the last two years, is for folks of every speed – from cheetah to tortoise – so no matter your pace, come out for fun and exercise. This 3.1 mile timed race is walker-friendly and will take place around the entire zoo. The ZooKidsDash presented by Kidz Medical Services is a race for kids ages 2 – 9. This race will include a range of distances from 100 to 525 meters and opportunities to interact with Gigi, Kaz and Pio – the popular Zoo Squad mascots. Participants are also being asked to dress or accessorize like their favorite animal to win prizes at the costume contest.

Celebrate the joy and magic of the holiday season at The Falls! On Saturday, November 21, The Falls Shopping Center will ring in the season with the 19th Annual “Miracle on 136th Street” Holiday Parade. This year, the free event will be led by celebrity Grand Marshal, Raini Rodriguez, of The Disney Channel’s ‘Austin & Ally’ series.

Each year, the annual event is attended by more than 20,000 Miami residents and visitors. Miami-Dade dignitaries and celebrities alike will ride through the parade in vintage and convertible cars. In addition to local dignitaries and Raini Rodriguez, the parade features local marching bands, holiday-themed floats, bag pipers, stilt walkers, junkanoos, giant puppets, holiday character favorites, community groups and internationally recognized costumed characters.

Listen for jingling sleigh bells and a jolly, magical laugh because after the parade, Santa Claus will set up in Center Court to share the spirit of the holiday season! The spirit of the holidays will extend beyond the North Pole. Following the parade, visitors will be enchanted by the thousands of lights, giant animal topiaries, elaborate water elements and more in the shopping center’s gardens and waterfalls.

Following the holiday parade, Raini Rodriguez will perform on the Center Court stage at 6:30 PM, singing joyous holiday music. Guests will also enjoy entertainment including a magical snow globe performance, belly dancing and more, near Macy’s & Bloomingdale’s.

Twelve top chefs representing some of the best-known restaurants in the world went plate to plate at the Goya Foods Culinary Pavilion competing in six categories. The evening was presented by Land Rover of North and South Dade with Warren Henry Auto.

Audition
Notes: Please prepare a one to two-minute classical monologue and a one to two-minute contrasting contemporary monologue or 32 bars of a classical or contemporary styled song to sing a Capella. Be prepared for some improvisational exercises and readings as well. Actors must have weekend availability and flexible schedules. Only actors 16 or older will be considered without a parent accompanying them.

This Fun and Zany 2 day Art and Music event is celebrating it’s Eleventh Year in Coconut Grove. This year we are excited to include along with our always wonderful Original Artists a select group of Artisans with their Handmade Treasures as well as Vintage vendors. The Tent artist will be displaying their work inside The Barnacle Historic State Park which sits right on the beautiful Biscayne Bay in the center of Coconut Grove, additional artists will be setup along the sidewalks of Main Hwy. in Coconut Grove. There will be live music and plenty of food vendors as well as a “Most Unusual Hat” Contest with great prizes each day at 3pm. On Saturday after the festival ends at 5pm the gates to The Barnacle Historic State Park will reopen at 6pm and there will be an outdoor screening of the original Disney “Alice in Wonderland” movie. So bring a picnic and a blanket and sit under the stars and enjoy the movie. The Festival is Free and Park Admission is its regular $2 Fee. The movie fee is $5 for ages 6 and up and $3 ages 2-5. Dogs are allowed in the park on a leash. So grab your friends and family and come to The Grove for a day of fun and entertainment.

A huge perk of living in a city with consistent weather year-round is not having to think about the functionality of our clothes. That is, we rarely have to worry about dressing to face different metereological conditions (wind chill, rain, snow, etc.) so we have come to perceive clothes as more of an accessory, less a survival necessity. Then we travel and this mentality—groomed by years of not having to worry about whether our outfit will help or hinder us in an apocalypse—gets us in trouble. It’s the reason we found ourselves this week in the Outer Banks facing 64-degrees and 13mph winds in nothing but ripped jeans and a thin, long-sleeve t-shirt. (Apparently what we call “Fall clothes” in Miami is severely inadequate for dealing with actual Fall weather.) Although frozen solid and absolutely miserable, we decided to grin and bear it for a long overdue Miami style post because nothing is prettier with Fall clothing photo shoots than actual signs of Fall in the background. South Florida celebrated seafood, waterfront living and the start of the stone crab season by way of The Coconut Grove Seafood Festival at Peacock Park. For the third year in a row, event organizers brought together an array of seafood vendors offering bushels of shrimp, oysters, crawfish, lobster, stone crab, fish and clams prepared in a variety of ways.

The well known Casablanca Fish Market overflowed with fish from around the world that folks were able to select, purchase and take home after they had their fill at the festival. The Kitchen Lab featured cooking demos by popular South Florida restaurants.

The event was very family oriented. Children played inside the inflatable pirate village in the Family Fun Zone. There was also VIP Island for those who preferred a more exclusive experience.

As if all this wasn’t enough, the afternoon had a constant stream of live music including calypso, steel drum, island escapism and reggae. The Festival also featured several nautically themed exhibitors showcasing art, jewelry and home decor.

The folks at SWARM have definitely put together another winner!…We can’t wait to be back next year!

Animate! Miami is a three day festival and convention meant to celebrate Anime, Animation, Cosplay and other cool stuff that we love! The event takes place at the Miami Airport Convention Center and Doubletree Miami Convention Center Hotel and will include celebrity guests, industry guests, vendors, exhibitors, artists and hundreds of events. Peacock Park in Coconut Grove was the setting for Grovetoberfest which served over 300 unlimited beer samplings from around the country and around the world. Beer lovers gathered to try new releases, tap into old favorites and take part in Timed Tappings, which offered unprecedented access to specialty brews.

The Milam’s Kitchen Lab showcased award-winning, South Florida chefs who shared their fusion cuisine, beer pairing and cooking tips.

The Bougainvillea’s Live Music Stage featured South Florida favorite bands and food vendors were on hand selling everything from burgers to beer cupcakes.

Kudos to the crew at SWARM for putting together another awesome event!

The Nader Latin American Art Museum has launched the Botero Monumental Sculpture exhibit at Bayfront Park in Miami featuring 15 large-scale sculptures created by world-renowned Colombian artist Fernando Botero. Admission is free.

Fernando Botero is regarded as one of the world’s greatest artists and his voluptuous monumental sculptures are known and appreciated throughout the world. Many of his pieces have been exhibited in Paris, New, York, Venice, Seoul, Berlin, Tokyo, Madrid and Athens, among others. Michael Pirolo Makes Tortellini

This past summer, Italian cuisine master and all around bad-ass chef, Michael Pirolo, prepared a private Italian feast filled with Prosciutto di Parma for some very lucky guests.

The ham is almost as old as Italian cuisine itself with the earliest references to Prosciutto di Parma dating back all the way to Roman times around 100 BC. The ham has a very strict certification. By law it can only be produced in the gently rolling countryside surrounding the city of Parma in north central Italy. The ham must use Italian-born and bred pigs raised according to the highest standards on which they are monitored, inspected and traced.

Once the ham is ready to be cured, a highly experienced maestri salatori (aka salt master) applies a minimal amount of sea salt necessary to produce a ham with the desired savory-sweet flavor profile. This is also the reason why Prosciutto di Parma tastes less salty than other ham varieties. At the end of the curing process, every leg of Prosciutto di Parma is checked for quality and then fire branded with the five-pointed Parma Crown, signifying its guarantee of authenticity and quality.

Dolphin Mall is set to celebrate the holiday season by creating a magical winter wonderland experience for shoppers, complete with nightly snowfall powered by the imagination of children. The annual tradition begins Wednesday, Nov. 25 and will continue through Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016.

“We’re excited to once again host this beloved holiday tradition at Dolphin Mall for families and visitors,” said Madelyn Bello Calvar, the mall’s marketing and sponsorship director. “This annual event is so special and a unique way for us to showcase an enchanted winter wonderland that Floridians don’t typically experience.”

To help create a memorable snowfall for the entire family, Dolphin Mall will be giving away magical wands to children under the age of 12 (while supplies last). At the start of each nightly snowfall, young magicians can wave their wondrous wands to unleash the snowstorm and create a glistening winter wonderland.

Festive snow flurries will take place inside the Ramblas Plaza every night at 7 p.m., with an additional snowfall at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Wands will be distributed to participating families 30 minutes prior to start of each nightly snowfall. There will be no snow on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24), Christmas Day (Dec. 25), New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1, 2016).

CIFO Talks will be hosting Luis Camnitzer and Gean Moreno in a discussion following the ongoing exhibition, Intersections (after Lautréamont). The two will focus on differing views regarding Miami today and its current relationship with Latin America and the United States. The Business Improvement District (BID) of Coral Gables makes dining dreams come true in one event with the start of the 2015 Giralda Under the Stars presented by Zacapa Rum dining al fresco series. More than a dozen restaurants and bars on the renowned Restaurant Row on Giralda Avenue, located between Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Galiano Street, will bring culinary excellence and libations outdoors for diners to enjoy, literally, under the stars. Restaurant Row will be closed to vehicular traffic, and participating restaurants will fill the street with tables and chairs, live music and entertainment from 7 p.m. to midnight every first Friday of the month through April 2016. The first event in the series on November 6th, 2015, will be hosted by Miami Herald food editor and renowned foodie Evan S. Benn! And to complement the ultimate dining al fresco experience, the first event will have all things live, including live beats by Steven B. and string tunes by guitarist Jonathan Beckett and violinist Monty Bloom.

Participating restaurants this year include: Bangkok Bangkok, Castelluccio, Divino Ceviche, GreenLife Miami, Ikura Sushi Lounge, Miss Saigon Bistro, Spritz of Coral Gables, Talavera, The Bar, The Local Craft Food & Drink, as well as newcomers this year; La Dorada Restaurant, known for its award-winning Spanish cuisine, and Amore Gelato Art Caffe, which will be adding a sweet touch to the event.

Beginning in Miami and Miami Beach during the post World War II era as a local variation of modernist architectural movements in other parts of the world, MiMo buildings add glamour, fun, and material excess to otherwise stark, minimalist, and efficient styles.

The Fontainebleau, Eden Roc and Deauville hotels and garden style apartments are stunning examples of MiMo – featuring acute angles, delta wings, sweeping curved walls, and soaring pylons. Like Art Deco, there is a strong preservationist movement to preserve MiMo from the wrecking ball. The present development boom is relentless in its quest to replace this architecture with highrises.

In the exhibit, TOTEMS seven artists interpret their perceptions of what is idolized and worshipped today from the saintly to the irreverent. Viophilia presents Dia de los Muertos a 3 year anniversary event held at Viophilia located in Wynwood Miami, Florida. We welcome past, present and future supporters of Viophilia to a very special night curated by Ivette Cabrera. Our vision is to keep shifting the realm of the art world and bringing forth the highest quality of boundary pushers, ground breakers and shape shifters that don’t play well by the rules. October marks 3 years of Viophilia; a name which represents the obsession to create. Throughout our time at Viophilia we have had the honor to represent, curate and collaborate with many talented artists ranging from all styles of art forms. This year we want to honor their life and creative strive while honoring those who have influenced their lives but are no longer present.

This years theme“Dia de los Muertos”is a merge between life and death, it is a event that will celebrate both worlds. Artists are encouraged to generate art based on the Dia de los Muertos // Day of the Dead theme. The event will feature art from a few hand selected artists both national and international and a large altar installation created by Viophilia head directors Ivette Cabrera and Francy Freixas which will be in collaboration with pieces brought by artists and guests throughout the night. Guests are welcomed to bring an object or picture that represents an influential person in their lives that have passed away to be included in the large altar installation.
