Renowned celebrity artist Ryan Paul Simmons invites his supporters, friends and the press and media to celebrate his EARTH DAY birthday in style, at Miami Newest Hotspot Trio on the Bay, located at 1601 79th Street Causeway, on Friday, April 22, from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.
New York art critics have referred to Ryan Paul Simmons as. “one of the most influential artists in modern history.” His choice of subject matter infused with a very bold color selection while pushing the elements of design is like no other. “This is not pop art! I just haven’t figured out what to call it yet,” says Simmons.
Currently, the Artist is working with Bette Midler and the New York Restoration Project for Earth Day via www.charitybuzz.com. Recently, the Artist teamed up with The White Ribbon Alliance to raise funds and awareness for the organization. A beautiful piece titled ‘Mother Earth’ was sold at auction as well as a commissioned piece.
Simmons, born as an abstract artist in Hollywood, Florida gained international momentum when he decided to create pop art and started the ‘Barock The Vote’ campaign. Rallying for Barack Obama alongside such celebrities as Matt Damon, Spike Lee, and Samuel Jackson, Simmons showcased an 8’x7′ pop art painting of the president-elect, which he developed on the road as he toured around the country. While Simmons has become recognized for his Andy Warhol style of pop art, his abstracts are collected worldwide and can be found in private collections. In 2009 his work was featured in Art Basel along with Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, and Hunt Slonem and was then commissioned to paint an 8’x8′ pop art painting of a young Hugh Hefner live during the Playboy New Year’s Eve Party. “I was commissioned by the Obama Campaign to create awareness and the importance of voting in the 2008 Presidential election.” After 584 hours of live painting during various rallies throughout the States, the ‘Barock the Vote’ was complete. The piece has been in 2 Smithsonian Institutes, 9 inaugural balls, and was featured in Art Basel with Warhol and Dali.

Miami-based fashion designer Lorie Lester will debut her Spring/Summer 2011 Collection with The Beautiful Villains Fashion Show. Entertainment will also include live music by garage rockers Jacuzzi Boys, lite bites by food truck Ms. Cheezious, specialty cocktails by Zignum Mezcal and Coruba Rum.
The Stage, located in the heart of Miami’s Design District, will open its doors at 10:00 PM. The warehouse turned trendy bar & lounge has an outside patio where a mini ramp jam skate boarding contest will take place later in the night.

Say New Jersey to certain people and the first thing they will think of is house music – the kind of music that laid down it’s roots in late 70s / 80s Club Zanzibar home to DJs such as Tony Humphries, Tee Scott and Larry Levan. The kind of music that was slowly elaborated on and built by producers such as Blaze and many many others. into a powerful pantheon that is respected worldwide.
Today Dennis Ferrer’s New Jersey house music imprint Objektivity carries the torch for house music – continuing that vibe in a way that reflects the original spirit without being retrograde. Ferrer has been riding high on a consistent stream of praise from fans and others alike. From a Grammy nomination for his remix of Dido to his crossover hit of 2010 “Hey Hey†to his alternative vocal track of 2011, “The Red Room”, Ferrer has a magic touch.
Never happy to sit on his laurels, this year Ferrer brings a new concept to Miami for Ultra Week with his hugely popular annual Objektivity event spread across two rooms in downtown Miami’s Grand Central venue. NeuWave Renegades is his new project moniker and features Ferrer alongside a rotation of friends who represent something of the spirit of US house music.
In Room 1 and as part of this special edition of the NeuWave Renegades tour, he will play back to back for the first time ever with his mentor and friend, Kerri Chandler. This marks the return to Miami of Chandler after years missing from the WMC circuit and in unison with Ferrer will surely be a night to be remembered. The Martinez Brothers who made their Miami debut in 2007 as Ferrer’s young proteges are all grown up now and back on this years bill with a stellar single “Issshhh!!!” dropping on Objektivity in the weeks leading up to the festivities. Dyed Soundorom of the now defunct Parisienne Freak N’ Chic crew and Circo Loco resident joins the lineup with his brand of modern house.
Room 2 welcomes Karizma who is back on the bill after a one year hiatus. Things just weren’t the same without him and expect nothing short of the usual CDJ extravaganza with his unique take on underground and soulful house. 19 year old Kyle Hall joins this lineup as a prelude to his scheduled date at Coachella in April. Hall’s eclectic blend of Detroit house, techno and bass energizes underground dance floors globally. DJ Qu and Anthony Parasole of the Deconstruct / Strength Music family mark their Miami performance debut with their edgy representation of New York deep house and techno. Objektivity soldier, Filsonik opens the night.

Amir “Questlove” Thompson is perhaps one of the best known living musicians who is not the lead singer of a band. He broke onto the scene as the founder and drummer of the hip hop band The Roots in the mid 1990s, but his love affair with music began at a very early age. The son of touring musicians who didn’t want to leave him behind as a young child, Questlove grew up on a steady diet of doo-wop, tour buses, and backstage passes. He began performing at his parents shows by the age 7 and was the musical director by the age of 13. He established The Roots by the time he was in high school and the rest is history as they say.
As a drummer and producer he has worked with nearly everyone, from Erykah Badu, Jay-Z, N.E.R.D, to Fiona Apple, Dilated People’s, and Common just to name a few. As a DJ he has released the compilation Questlove Presents: Babies Making Babies and played more venues than we have time to list.

Jeremy Waks creates naturally-lush childhood sanctuary to play backdrop to one’s midnight escapades
TREEHOUSE, a new Miami Beach nightclub, will celebrate its debut with a grand opening reception on Friday, January 28, 2011, 10 PM to midnight, featuring complimentary cocktails and music by DJ Troy Kurtz and Canadian DJ duo Ess & Emm. The warm and welcoming indoor/outdoor space will be an adult playground-of-sorts designed and owned by nightlife purveyor Jeremy Waks. Positioned at 323 23rd Street in South Beach, TREEHOUSE is smartly located among a bevy of hotels and clubs nearby such as The W, Gansevoort Miami Beach, and the Setai Hotel.
The 8,000-square-foot venue boasts three different rooms, each laying ground to a new environment. Upon entering TREEHOUSE, guests will find themselves in a small, intimate boîte that evokes the warmth of a ski-lodge. Lounge seating is accented by ribbons of raw teak wood lining the walls, along with a black button-laced bar draped in cargo netting that anchors the space. The main room lies just beyond, and its wood-laced walls are complimented by stadium-style black leather banquet seating, along with inventive lighting and sound for a high-energy atmosphere. The cool outdoor area serves as the nightclub’s third room, where guests can lounge amidst plush greenery and enjoy views of night sky in a candlelit Wynwood Art District-inspired setting.
TREEHOUSE is the newest venture by 26-year old Waks, the entrepreneur that previously launched Miami Beach-based Heathrow Lounge. “I always had a clear vision of a space that would evoke all the childhood charm of a tree house, but filtered through a mature taste-level, while presenting the gritty undertones of Miami’s art enclaves,†says Waks. “TREEHOUSE is a sophisticated version of a fantastical getaway and serves as a local hideout to those looking for nightlife with a downtown sensibility in South Beach.â€
Waks seeks to provide an ideal nightlife destination for savvy club-goers via TREEHOUSE’s focus on specialty drinks and its lineup of high-caliber entertainment and productions. “This season is all about returning to the roots of the True Religion brand,” said Arthur about her first year designing the collection. “We will design timeless fashions that complement the brand’s hippie identity while offering signature touches of pop-color, unique stitch-work and playful embellishments to the popular True Religion logo.”
“The new line is a reflection of various inspirations including retro, pop culture icons and styles as well as the contemporary casual looks seen on the streets of Los Angeles today.” Arthur said.
At True Religion, the message is peace, love, and happiness as models stepped out as if they were at Woodstock. Barefoot in beaded bracelets, dream-catcher pendants, scarves, and fringe, it was clear as Jim Morrison blared that hippie chic and boho flair still hadn’t lost their edge. Neon boy shorts, denim-looking suits accented with leather and fringed bags, and leopard-print vests took us on a trip. The brand show denim swimwear for women, including a bikini trimmed in suede, a denim bustier, and a one piece. Also on the 2011 collection are bohemian tie-dye bikinis, rocker-girl suits covered in studs.
Celebrities who favor the brand include Madonna, Shakira, Janet Jackson, David Beckham, Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, Christina Milian and Hillary Swank.

The El Bolero is the bastard love child of The Electric Pickle, in association with Mark Alan Diaz of MAD Design Group. Chef Christopher Lee began his career at age 14 in his hometown on Long Island, “I always had that sort of sixth sense about food,” Lee says. “I always knew that I wanted to be a Chef. In high school, I used to ditch classes just to watch cooking shows on TV.”
Lee Graduated from the prestigious California Culinary Academy and then went on to hone his culinary talents in some of the country’s most prestigious restaurants, including New York City’s Restaurant Daniel and Jean Georges, and San Francisco’s Fifth Floor.
As Sous Chef at New York’s Oceana, where he worked under Cornelius Gallagher, Lee was integral in redefining the restaurant’s approach to the elegant dining experience. Awarded three stars by the New York Times, the New York Post proclaimed Oceana to be “The city’s best seafood restaurant.”
Selected by Gotham Bar and Grill’s Alfred Portale to be the chef de cuisine at Stephen Starr’s remake of the legendary Striped Bass in Philadelphia, Lee quickly rose to the position of Executive Chef, putting his personal style on all culinary aspects of the restaurant. Under his direction, Striped Bass received widespread critical acclaim, including a highly coveted Four Bells review from the Philadelphia Inquirer, “Best New American Restaurant 2004” in Travel + Leisure, and Gourmet selected it as one of the country’s top restaurants in 2006.
In 2005, Lee was named the James Beard Foundations’ “Rising Star Chef of the Year,” and in 2006 was among Food and Wine’s “Top Ten Best New Chefs.” Returning to New York as Executive Chef of Gilt, Lee earned the restaurant two Michelin stars. In December 2008, Lee was selected by Charlie Palmer to take command of Aureole’s kitchen, just in time for the restaurant’s spring landmark move to the Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park. “Christopher Lee could not be a better fit for Aureole with his modern American palate, New York roots and bold approach to flavors and wine,” says Palmer.
Since the grand opening, Chef Lee has brought unparalleled success to Aureole including a 29 food rating in Zagat, the highest in NYC for 2009. Additionally, Chef Lee was a contestant on the premiere season of Bravo’s Top Chef Masters and is currently the consulting chef for Orange County Choppers Roadhouse, a full service restaurant, bar, microbrewery, and entertainment experience based on the extraordinarily popular Orange County Choppers brand.
Philosophy
In addition to the following the seasons and the latest culinary trends, Lee finds inspiration in abstract art, which is evident in his plating techniques. Rather than building presentations in the center of the plate, Lee prefers to use the lines, spaces, colors and shapes of the various components of a dish to create a new abstract dining aesthetic. Through juxtaposing soft and crunchy textures, and sweet and sour flavors, Lee’s creations give diners a different experience with each bite.

Jeremy Waks creates naturally lush childhood sanctuary to play backdrop to one’s midnight escapades
TREEHOUSE, a new Miami Beach nightclub, will celebrate its debut with a soft opening reception on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, 9 PM to midnight, featuring music by DJ Troy Kurtz, Damaged Goods and Canadian DJ duo Ess & Emm. The warm and welcoming indoor/outdoor space will be an adult playground-of-sorts designed and owned by seasoned nightlife purveyor Jeremy Waks. Positioned at 323 23rd Street in South Beach, TREEHOUSE is smartly located among a bevy of hotels and clubs nearby such as The W, Gansevoort Miami Beach, and the Setai Hotel.
The 8,000-square-foot venue boasts three different rooms, each laying ground to a new environment. Upon entering TREEHOUSE, guests will find themselves in a small, intimate boîte featuring plush leather banquettes and ribbons of teak wood lining the walls. The main room lies just beyond and showcases inventive lighting and sound for a high-energy atmosphere. The cool outdoor area serves as the nightclub’s third room, where guests can lounge and enjoy views of night sky in a Wynwood Art District-inspired setting.
TREEHOUSE is the newest venture by 26-year old Waks, the entrepreneur that previously launched Miami Beach-based Heathrow Lounge. “I always had a clear vision of a space that would evoke all the childhood charm of a tree house, but filtered through a mature taste-level, while presenting the gritty undertones of Miami’s art enclaves,†says Waks. “TREEHOUSE is a sophisticated version of a fantastical getaway and serves as a local hideout to those looking for nightlife with a downtown sensibility in South Beach.â€
Waks seeks to provide an ideal nightlife destination for savvy club-goers via TREEHOUSE’s focus on specialty drinks and its lineup of high-caliber entertainment and productions. He will layer the club’s content and formatting with a variety of cultural heavy-hitters, in addition to a music lineup from Miami-cult icon the Overthrow, which will range from open-format, to nu-wave dance and electro. “TREEHOUSE is anchored to a large mesh of Miami’s art and nightlife roots; essentially, this is locals building a TREEHOUSE, for locals,†says Waks with conviction.
TREEHOUSE is an 8,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor lounge-nightclub, a sophisticated environment reminiscent of a childhood getaway. TREEHOUSE is open Friday and Saturday from 10 PM to 4 AM.
