Uchi Miami, the stylish Wynwood restaurant known for its non-traditional take on Japanese cuisine, is kicking off a summer dinner series — a one-night-only, collaborative multi-course experience — on July 19 with Raheem Sealey of Drinking Pig BBQ, a locally loved food truck serving up some of the best barbecue in Miami. Both Sealey and Uchi’s experienced chefs will prepare a decadent multi-course meal at $150 per person, with drink pairings an additional $60 per person. Uchi is devoted to partnering with local chefs throughout the Miami community to bring guests a new, collaborative experience to enjoy this season. The summer dinner series will be an ongoing event with more special guests to be announced throughout the summer. Sealey will launch the collaborative series, followed by chefs from the modern Vietnamese restaurant Phuc Yea on August 16, with more to come.

Wow your palate with starters like the Tiger’s Milk Oysters, Don’t Be Shellfish (a house cold sampler) or mains like the SoFISHticated (whole fried red snapper for two, matched with house coleslaw, and tostones, or the SEAreal Griller (also for two, a grilled assortment of shrimps, clams, black mussels, scallops, and daily catch an award-winning green sauce), your taste buds will thank you. The varied menu includes many takes on familiar favorites, but reimagined. Chef Karlos Rodriguez Spranger created the menu, and his Peruvian-Portuguese origins definitely make their appearance.

For lovers of craft cocktails, this is your spot. There are 12 signature “potions that were crafted with curiosity”. As well as a fully stocked bar offering all libations and call brands. Crab Du Jour, a popular Cajun-inspired seafood restaurant known for its ultimate seafood boils, will officially celebrate the grand opening of its fourth South Florida location at Deerwood Town Center (12075 SW 152nd Street) in Miami, Florida.

Known for its ultimate seafood boil, Crab Du Jour, which translates roughly to “crab of the day,” offers a unique dining experience featuring freshly prepared and made-to-order Cajun-inspired seafood boils and a variety of fresh high quality seafood selections, including clams, mussels, shrimp, crawfish, crab legs, lobster and more. Customers select their seafood, choose from an array of house-blended sauces like Cajun, garlic butter, Old Bay, lemon pepper, or ‘Du Jour’ which incorporates all of the options, customize their desired spice level, and add side items like corn, potatoes, and sausage. Truly experiential, each boil is served in a bag, which is shaken and presented tableside in front of guests.

This exciting and interactive free experience at Galleria Fort Lauderdale will pay tribute to the drag community who tirelessly entertain and support philanthropic endeavors. Tickets are now on sale for the opening reception, which also serves as the official Stonewall PRIDE Month Kickoff event celebration, on Tuesday, May 31, from 6 – 8 p.m., at Galleria Fort Lauderdale.

It will be a night to remember as six drag pioneers are celebrated – South Florida’s own Nikki Adams, Tiffany Arieagus, Cathy Craig, Daisy Deadpetals, Electra and Latrice Royale. These treasured performers are being recognized for their longevity, entrepreneurship, roles on local television and international fame. The exhibit will include past and present images, videos, costumes and artifacts that tell the story of their illustrious careers.

The entire drag community will also be celebrated and represented with a “Wall of Fame” sponsored by Lips Fort Lauderdale and designed by acclaimed designer Robert Tabor. This tribute space will showcase many amazing local performers who currently grace the stages in bars, nightclubs, casinos and theater productions.

Memorable tribute performances will be done by Joanna James, Velvet Lenore and Erika Norell. Presentation hosts will be Shawn Palacious and Joe Posa as Joan Rivers with DJ Aulden Brown. Lips Fort Lauderdale, Stoli and Tulio’s Tacos and Tequila Bar will provide light bites and libations.

The Lincoln Eatery is the first food hall in Miami Beach. The urban food collective houses a curated selection of 13 unique dining and drinking options featuring an eclectic assortment of global culinary concepts. This upcoming Mother’s Day, Ai Tallarin, an Asian-Peruvian fusion concept will be offering a dumpling making class on May 7 at 6pm.

Ai Tallarin is an Asian street food with a Peruvian twist, serving a flavorful menu of tapas, hibachi, saké and freshly-made noodles. Funding Arts Broward (FAB), a nonprofit organization committed to preserving and cultivating the arts in Broward County, will present its fifth annual “Black & White: A Night At The Museum” special event on Monday, April 25, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. This elegant black and white themed cocktail party at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale will feature an exclusive exhibit tour, live entertainment by Dillard High School Center for the Arts students, light bites and a decadent dessert table.

Attendees will have the opportunity to experience Lux et Veritas, a FAB-funded exhibit, at the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale on a private tour by Bonnie Clearwater, director and chief curator of NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. Lux et Veritas explores a transformative period in contemporary art by focusing on a generation of artists of color who attended Yale School of Art for graduate studies between 2000 and 2010. The exhibition’s title alludes to Yale University’s motto, “Lux et Veritas,” which translates from Latin to “Light and Truth.” In the context of this exhibition, the title references how these artists thought with critical complexity about their work and their movement through institutional structures. Featured artists include Mike Cloud, william cordova, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Abigail DeVille, Torkwase Dyson, John Espinosa, Luis Gispert, Rashawn Griffin, Leslie Hewitt, Loren Holland, Titus Kaphar, Jamerry Kim, Eric N. Mack, Wardell Milan, Wangechi Mutu, Mamiko Otsubo, Ronny Qevedo, Mickalene Thomas, Anna Tsouhlarakis, Shoshanna Weinberger and Kehinde Wiley.

As with similar programs, Yale School of Art, in New Haven, Connecticut, had not been historically diverse, which spurred these art students to form affiliations across the departments of painting, graphic design, sculpture, photography and art history. They filled gaps in the school’s curriculum and counteracted the lack of diversity among the faculty by inviting artists, curators and writers of color as advisors and guest speakers, developing an interdisciplinary forum, publishing art journals, organizing exhibitions and documenting their experiences in video and photography. The relationships they formed at school evolved into communities that networked and provided essential support and feedback for one another, often passing on these efforts beyond graduate study. Their reevaluation of the Western art canon, and commitment to the method and practice of teaching has contributed to a greater recognition of artists of color, challenged stereotypes and enriched the overall shared spaces of learning and thinking about art and the art praxis.

Lux et Veritas provides a public forum in which to address the directions these artists took based on the explorations that began in graduate school and were instilled thereafter in their practice. The exhibition is curated by Bonnie Clearwater, director and chief curator, NSU Art Museum. Mike Cloud (Yale, MFA 2003), william cordova (Yale, MFA 2004), Leslie Hewitt (Yale, MFA 2004) and Irene V. Small, associate professor, Contemporary Art & Criticism, Princeton University (Yale, Ph.D. 2008) are advisors on the exhibition. Oral histories with the artists who attended the School of Art provided significant insight into their experiences, relationships, and work.

The “Classic Night Out” dinner show, hosted by Miss Noel Leon and singer/songwriter Sunni Stephens,
features a Las Vegas Style Cabaret music revue reminiscent of Old Hollywood. Burlesque, drag, cirque, and dance performers from around the globe perform a variety of songs ranging from the Golden Age of Hollywood to the chart-topping hits of today with a seven-piece band starring Jonathan Cahm and a DJ.

Upon arrival guests will receive a signature welcome cocktail followed by a prix fixe menu. Guests are invited to stay after the show to for a meet and greet with the Cocktail & Cabaret cast.

An energetic, culinary experience-based venue serving modern Latin-inspired cuisine, Kuba Cabana features unmistakable Cuban and Caribbean flair. This dining concept stems from the beautiful traditions of Latin and Caribbean music, cuisine and culture. Vibrant décor ranges from neon signs and tropical foliage to walls donned with Cuban-inspired art by local artists.

Orno, the new restaurant by 4-time James Beard Award nominee and Food & Wine Magazine’s Best New Chefs Class of 2020, Chef Niven Patel, presents Volume II of the tasting series called Library Libations. Each month the New American restaurant will feature a dinner and a multi-course tasting featuring rare pours from some of the industry’s most lauded wine and spirit brands. On Thursday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m., Orno partnered with Tuscan wine producer Tenuta San Guido for an evening of wine tastings and culinary delights. The evening will commence with a pour of Ca Del Bosco’s “Anna Maria Clemente” and small bites by the Orno team. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts presents Rhythm by the River, a festival celebrating some of the most exciting and innovative Black voices in Broward County.

The community is invited to come together for a fun-filled day of music, dance, drama, poetry and interactive events for the whole family. Hosted by WPLG-Local 10 anchor and reporter Alexis Frazier, this free community event features live performances, food trucks, workshops, arts and crafts, and more throughout the afternoon.

On the mainstage, Purple Flux delivers a fusion of Hip-Hop and R&B sounds. The Randy Corinthian Quintet brings a soulful and sophisticated set of smooth jazz hits. The beat continues with West African Drum and Dance ensemble Troupe Fallou. Renegade Theatre Company offers a dynamic array of Broadway musical hits drawn from their repertoire. Art Prevails Project presents a mix of spoken word and theatrical vignettes from their critically acclaimed work. Guests will enjoy a sneak peek at the upcoming play Head Above Water: The Life of Esther Rolle by Darius V. Daughtry, directed by Bianca LaVerne Jones, commissioned by the African American Research Library and Cultural Center. As the grand finale, violin virtuosi Sons of Mystro headline the festivities merging their unique blend of classical strings with reggae hits and American pop songs along with some of their own original work.

Everyone is invited to participate in creating a community mural with visual artist Constance Ivana out in the park, or head to the Mary N. Porter Riverview Ballroom at the Broward Center to take part in a Teeny Violini music workshop with New Canon Chamber Collective’s founder Portia Dunkley, a spoken word poetry session with performer and FLO’etry founder Jerris “Quick the Poet” Evans or a Hip-Hop dance class with choreographer and Developing Dreams Foundation’s executive director Pablo Malco.

There will be opportunities to get to know your neighbors, enjoy outstanding entertainment, and learn more about the African American Research Library and Cultural Center’s Vicennial of Black Excellence, Art Prevails Project, Black Violin Foundation, FLO’etry, Developing Dreams Foundation, New Canon Chamber Collective, Old Dillard Museum, Renegade Theatre Company and much more.

Orno, the new restaurant by 4-time James Beard Award nominee, Chef Niven Patel, presents a new tasting series called Library Libations. Each month the New American restaurant will feature a dinner and a multi-course tasting featuring rare pours from some of the industry’s most lauded wine and spirit brands. The dinner will include a bespoke menu by Chef Niven, inside Orno’s private dining room.

For the inaugural tasting on Friday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m., Orno has partnered with Macallan for an evening of whiskey tastings led by ambassador Danny Jimenez. The evening will feature a five-course menu paired with five distinct Macallan whiskies. This includes a pour of “Sir Peter Blake” which is part of The Macallan’s extremely limited collaboration with famed artist Sir Peter Blake. The 31st Annual Asian Culture Festival returns to South Florida in its new

Hai for Her is a culinary celebration held in conjunction with International Women’s Day that brings together female talent from Hai Hospitality’s family of restaurants across the country to support a worthy cause that offers opportunities for young women to grow, learn and thrive.

In early March of 2020, chefs from across Hai properties assembled at Uchiko for the inaugural Hai for Her dinner benefitting Austin charity, Girlstart. After a 2021 hiatus, Hai for Her returns in grand fashion, this time at Uchi Miami over two nights, March 7th and 8th, 2022. Host Chef de Cuisine Dina Butterfield and Sushi Chef Vicki Rodpai will welcome Hai Hospitality chefs from around the country, including: Uchi and Uchibā Dallas Chef de Cuisine, Rhonda McCullar; Uchi Restaurants Head Pastry Chef, Ariana Quant; and Loro Austin Bar Manager, Katie Arnold to collaborate and create a memorable two night ticketed event and celebration of women forging new paths. Foodies, get ready! Gulfstream Park Village, South Florida’s premier entertainment, dining and restaurant destination located on the border of Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, will be the site of the fun-filled Hallandale Beach Food & Groove: A Wine, Food and Art Experience on Saturday, February 26, from 7–11 p.m. as part of the 21st annual Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One (SOBEWFF®).

Gulfstream Park and its iconic Pegasus statue will serve as the venue for the event. Guests are invited to come dressed in all-white ensembles and be prepared to celebrate in high SOBEWFF® style.

The Festival’s Hallandale Beach Event Series is a part of the Hallandale Beach Community Redevelopment Agency’s (HBCRA) strategic plan to promote economic development by branding the city as a destination for food, arts and entertainment, while also attracting international exposure to local participating restaurants. This is the third year in a row that the HBCRA is partnering with SOBEWFF® to host the Hallandale Beach Event Series.

This exciting evening of outdoor fun, wine, food, art, live music, and entertainment will be hosted by MasterChef finalist and TikTok sensation Nick DiGiovanni. Guests can enjoy the sights while sipping refreshing libations from the Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits portfolio.

The event will feature a variety of international cuisines. Gulfstream Park Village’s participating restaurants include Yard House, Ten Palms and Belly Fish. Other participating restaurants include Moises Bakery, Screaming Carrots, Dr. Limon Hallandale, CAO Bakery & Café, Nana’s Food for You, Il Mercato Café Restaurant, Dunn’s River Island Café, Ceviche Avenue, Chef Irie, See Thai & Japanese Cuisine, Nana’s SapiBon Haitian Restaurant, D’s Delights, El Tamarindo Coal Fired Pizza, Chapultepec Mexican Restaurant, The Krazy Vegan, La Estancia Argentina, Matteo’s Trattoria, Don Lolo’s, Wapo Tacos, El Tayta, Urban Thai & Sushi, Mable’s Island Kitchen, and Chef Nick DiGiovanni.

All net proceeds from the Festival benefit the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management students at Florida International University. Each year, over 1,200 student volunteers help organize all aspects of the event, including planning, logistics, and overall execution.

The cost to attend the Hallandale Beach Food & Groove: A Wine, Food and Art Experience is $75 per person, plus tax and service fees. To purchase tickets, visit sobewff.org/groove.

All guests, talent, staff, students and working personnel at all event venues will be required to complete a digital health screening through SymCheck™.
