Night 11: Elctro Strings at the Harold Golen Gallery 11/22/08

Saturday , November 22nd, 2008 at 8pm

Harold Golen Gallery
2921 NW 6th Ave
( Wynwood Art District )
Miami FL 33127

Electro Strings event will feature the Miami-based viola virtuoso Laura Wilcox and the up and coming banjo/electronics master James Moore from New York.

Canadian-American violist, LAURA WILCOX has performed throughout Canada, the United States and in Europe and South America as a recitalist, soloist with orchestras, and in numerous chamber ensembles. A passion and commitment for unveiling the obscure, reviving the “living” classics, and in premiering new musical works, Laura has collaborated in many crossover musical and artistic ventures with international performers and composers from North America, Asia, Europe, Central and South America. The Toronto Star wrote about her recent Aeternalis Voyage CD: “an eloquent premiere…by the brilliant Laura Wilcox as soloist.”

Tonight, Laura will present three pieces for viola and electronics by Orlando Garcia, Juraj Kojs, and Judith Shatin.

JAMES MOORE is a versatile guitarist with many musical personalities. Performing on a wide variety of acoustic and electric guitars, banjos, and home-made instruments, James combines the sensitivity and lyricism from his classical training with a healthy dose of improvisation, theatrics, and experimentation. Whether as a soloist, in a rock band, or in a classical ensemble, he aims for all of his music to be unique and personal.

James’s performances have brought him to concert halls and experimental music venues across the country, including shows with Bang on a Can, Other Minds, Princeton University, The Electronic Music Foundation, Anti-Social Music, the Merkin Hall Ear Department Series, and The Kitchen. In addition to collaborating with gifted musicians and composers from his own generation, James has worked with many of today’s leading artists, including David Lang, Steve Reich, Ingram Marshall, and Meredith Monk.

Tonight, James will perform works for banjo and electronics composed by himself, Lainie Fefferman, Matthew Marks, Paula Matthusen, and Matthew Welch.

We will also remember JUAN PEDRO BLANCO RODRIGUEZ, a pioneer of electroacoustic music in America, as well as founder and director of the Cuban National Electroaocustic Music Laboratory, who passed away at the age of 92 on November 5 in Havana. We will play his piece 5 Epitafios.

Food for Life Network (“FFLN”) AIDS Marathon/Half-Marathon 1/25/09

To: Food for Life Network and Care Resource Friends
From: The Williams Family
Re: FFLN AIDS Marathon/Half-Marathon
Good afternoon! My name is Stephanie Williams. I, along with my cousin Sonja Smith and our uncle Lee Williams, hope to get to know all of you in the upcoming months. However, who we are is far less important than why I am writing you today. I wanted to let you know that we have partnered with Care Resource and Food for Life Network to organize and coordinate the first Food for Life Network (“FFLN”) AIDS Marathon/Half-Marathon, which will take place on January 25, 2009, in Miami, Florida. We are reaching out to you because we need your participation and support to make this event a success. Before I tell you how you can help, I would like to take a moment to explain why my family has decided to coordinate the run and why we chose Food for Life Network.

Our uncle was diagnosed HIV+ more than 20 years ago. His life, like many long-time survivors, chronicles not only the emergence of one of the deadliest diseases of modern history but also the world’s response to meet the challenges posed by the disease. His life chronicles treatments, drugs, social and political policies as well as medical breakthroughs that have, in one way or other, impacted the lives of millions of people. His life chronicles a time when many, including some in the medical profession, believed that no cure was possible to now when we know that a cure is within our reach. His life chronicles the laughter as well as the loss of most of his best friends. We have watched our uncle closely during the years, and there were times when, honestly, we expected him to just give up. He didn’t. Instead, he managed to do what seemed impossible: get up the next day and help others less fortunate than him. Therefore, it came as no surprise when he announced earlier this year that he wanted to run not only for those that have passed but also for those who are still with us.

Our uncle was originally registered to train with the National AIDS Marathon Training Program to raise money for a national AIDS organization, but the South Florida arm of the program was cancelled. Two hundred registered participants were left without a trainer or organization. Instead of giving up on the idea altogether, my uncle expressed a desire to finish what he started. Our family decided that the cause was more important than the trainer and that we would do whatever it took to support him. We subsequently learned that had he raised money for the original organization, only fifty percent (50%) of the proceeds would have gone towards the cause. We found that percentage unacceptable. We believe that 100% of the money raised for an organization should go to that organization. Our uncle previously volunteered at FFLN, and he is still impressed by and amazed at how much they do for the South Florida community. For these reasons, we selected FFLN as our fundraising benefactor.

As you probably already know, Food for Life Network is a non-profit organization that provides groceries, meals and nutritional education to eliminate malnutrition and starvation in men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS in Miami-Dade County. They are committed to delivering services with compassion and confidentiality, to fostering client dignity and independence, and to enhancing clients’ quality of life. Since 1987, Food for Life Network volunteers and staff have provided millions of meals and groceries to people living with HIV/AIDS at no cost to their clients but through the generous support of donors. FFLN is a part of Community AIDS Resource, Inc. (aka “Care Resource”).

Care Resource has been providing excellent services to the South Florida community for twenty five (25) years! It is a 501[c](3) non-profit, multi-cultural, community based AIDS service organization, which through education, prevention, research, care & treatment, and support services, Care Resource improves upon the health and overall quality of life of our diverse South Florida communities in need. Rooted in the 1998 merger of Health Crisis Network (1983) and Community Research Initiative (1989), Care Resource is now South Florida’s oldest and largest HIV/AIDS service organization and a true leader in the community.

After meeting with the wonderful and compassionate staff at Care Resource and FFLN, our family is more convinced than ever that we chose the right organization and that our help, along with your help, will make a difference right here in our own community. YOU can help in a number of ways.

FIRST, we need participants who will run (or walk) on January 25, 2009. Each participant will be responsible for raising a minimum of $500.00. We feel this minimal contribution goal is more than reasonable. Our research revealed that many similar fundraisers require participants to raise as much as four times the amount we are requiring.

To get started, go to the Food for Life Network AIDS Marathon webpage and register. Retrieve the FFLN discount code. Next go to ING Miami Marathon website and register for the marathon or half-marathon. Please note that while the ING Miami Marathon registration deadline is January 17, 2009, the FFLN AIDS Marathon REGISTRATION DEADLINE is DECEMBER 23, 2008. Our deadline is set to comply with ING Miami Marathon’s procedures, which require all charities to give them the total number of participants 30 days prior to the event.

Understand that while all participants must register with ING Miami Marathon to participate in the run/walk on January 25, 2009, you are free to train on your own so long as you register with FFLN AIDS Marathon and raise the minimal required amount by January 25, 2009. We have started accepting contributions/donations.

Don’t forget to get your FFLN AIDS Marathon discount code before registering with ING Miami Marathon. Don’t forget the DEADLINE to register is December 23, 2008.

SECOND, you can help by making a personal contribution or raising money on behalf of a participant. We know that our economy is facing huge challenges, and that you may not have as much to spare as you normally would. That’s ok. We are simply asking that you give what you can. Just think about it: If 1,000 people donated as little as $25.00, we could raise $25,000 just from INDIVIDUAL contributions! That’s half of our goal!

Check with your employer to see if they provide incentives for your fundraising efforts (e.g., matching donations). Check with local businesses to see if they would be interested in supporting this cause. You may be a member of a church or other organization that wants to contribute. Also, you can use your social and professional networking forums to raise money. Please tap into all of your networks.

THIRD, you can help by spreading the word. Forward this e-mail or the web link to all of your friends and family. Tell everyone you know about the organization, its work, AIDS awareness, and the marathon! We will periodically update the webpage and send out newsletters. Don’t ignore these crucial bits of information, because we are constantly working on new ways to make this a fun and successful event! Read them. Pass them on!

With your support, we know that we can raise money to help FFLN get through these tough times ahead. With your support, we know that we can give a voice to all those who are no longer with us and be a voice for all those who still are!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us via email fflnam@foodforlifenetwork.org or directly at 305-576-1234 Ext 257. We look forward to hearing from all of you!

The Holidays are just around the corner. Help us get ready. We are accepting donations now. Register today to participate in the marathon or
MAKE A DONATION TODAY!

Thank you for your time and contributions to this important cause.

Vanguard New Contemporary Art Fair FAGE Total Greek Yogurt Exhibit 12/4-7/08

Presented by FAGE Total Greek Yogurt

We have seen art take many different turns recently with the sudden popularity of decorative cakes and food decorating competitions which have grown a mass following. FAGE is stepping into the act this year with their involvement with the “GenArt Vanguard New Contemporary Art Fair” in Miami, December 4-7, 2008. At the fair three one-of-a-kind FAGE-inspired contemporary art works will be unveiled. The artworks, inspired by the brand’s unique production, creamy taste and ridiculously thick texture, will be created by contemporary artists who are also participants at the Vanguard Art Fair: James Marshall (Dalek), Gary Baseman, and AJ Fosik. These artists will channel their inspiration from FAGE Total Greek yogurt to create master pieces good enough to eat.

As part of this collaboration, the artists will also take part in “Fage Studio — Discover. Taste. Create.” a series of art sessions with children from a local non-profit organization, Arts For Learning. Michael Wagner, chef and owner of Lola’s on Harrison, named a “turkey trendsetter” by the National Turkey Federation

SOUTH FLORIDA CHEF NAMED A “TURKEY TRENDSETTER”
BY THE NATIONAL TURKEY FEDERATION

Lola’s on Harrison Gives Comfort this Holiday Season with A Turkey Recipe and Festive Side Dishes to “Gobble Gobble”
The National Turkey Federation (NTF) has named South Florida’s Michael Wagner, chef and owner of Lola’s on Harrison, as one of three “Turkey Trendsetters” for 2008. Chef Wagner’s Pan Roasted Turkey Tenderloins recipe garnished with festive side dishes is available on the popular “Turkey Trendsetter” feature at EatTurkey.com.

“An innovator in the kitchen, Chef Wagner was chosen as one of this year’s culinary leaders for his use of turkey and how it is seasoned and paired with local ingredients, ” said Sherrie Rosenblatt, NTF’s vice president of marketing and communications. “Wagner’s interpretation of turkey — simple with robust flavors, traditional side dishes with a modern-day spin, and his commitment to supporting regional produce makes him a stand out to his patrons and the culinary community.”

The “Turkey Trendsetter” feature showcases how chefs across the country are incorporating turkey on their menus in creative and unique ways. At his elegant and contemporary American restaurant, Chef Wagner serves turkey with elements of the holidays, which is extremely popular among guests year-round even in the warm South Florida climate. His Pan Roasted Turkey Tenderloins with Caramelized Brussels Sprouts, Creamy Polenta, and Pomegranate-Cherry Gravy has been the most popular menu item since the restaurant opened in July 2007.

“The dish is a play on the flavor profiles you would expect at the holiday table, which is very comforting for our guests. The tenderloin product is underused in South Florida so when our guests see it on the menu served with cherry gravy, it peaks their interest,” said Chef Wagner.

Aimed at being value-oriented, Chef Wagner strives to provide his guests with the freshest and finest ingredients available. All of the indigenous fruits and vegetables at his disposal from local farms in South Florida enable him to be extremely inventive, and turkey’s versatility lends itself well to the dishes he puts on the menu.

“Turkey is a blank canvas for mouth-watering combinations of flavors,” explained Chef Wagner. “Pairing it with tropical fruits and vegetables like mango, papaya, star fruit, and yucca makes great dishes.”

Chef Wagner’s background is in fine dining and traditional steak house restaurants. At Lola’s on Harrison, his philosophy and approach to cooking is very simple – start out with great ingredients, support local farms, and use as many resources as possible. For Chef Wagner this has translated into an extremely successful restaurant that has received accolades from the New York Times, Miami Herald, and in 2008 he was named a “Noteworthy Newcomer” by Zagat.

In this guide, I am going to list everything that I know of that is going on during the Art Basel week. On some of them, I will give my recommendations. Please note, these are wholly mine, formed out of my experience from having attended nearly every art show and festival during Art Basel Miami week since it started. I make no guarantees that my comments have any bearing on the upcoming events, they may be better than in past years, they may be worse. I also make no guarantees that I have the same taste in art or events as anyone else. I did not consult with any experts. I do not have any degree in the arts. I just love the arts and I love festivals. So here we go.}

Art Basel Miami Beach
{The rumor that I heard was that the two guys who own Art Basel over there in Basel were one day vacationing on Miami Beach and just up and decided it would be cool to have one here. Apparantly a lot of people agreed.}
Miami Beach Convention Center (Art Galleries, Art Nova, Art Kabinett, Art Supernova)
December 4-7
Vernissage for invited guests: Wednesday, December 3, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m.
{Vernissage is not nearly as exclusive as they want to make it sound. The last time we went, it was so packed that you could literally barely move.}
Public Show Days: Thursday, December 4 to Saturday, December 6, 2008:
Daily from noon to 8 p.m.
Sunday, December 7: noon to 6 p.m.

Art Positions
{Okay, we have been going to Art Positions since it first started. It started as an independent show, and an extremely cool one. A bunch of big shipping containers tossed out on the beach with really cutting-edge work in them. Now, Art Basel has taken over the operation of this show and it has gotten extremely popular. It has also lost some of its edge. I recommend going the first night for a short time just to see the crowd and enjoy the concert. Then go back at a later time when there are not as many people so that you can actually see the art.}
Wednesday, December 3:
Vernissage, open to the public, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Thursday, December 4 to Saturday, December 6, 2008:
Daily from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Sunday, December 7, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Art Video Lounge
Wednesday, December 3 to Saturday, December 6, 2008:
Daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday, December 7: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

{The above shows are all run by Art Basel directly. While I do recommend them, I highly recommend hitting up some of the ancilliary shows listed below. Particularly keep an eye out for shows that are brand new and small. If you see a bunch of kids running around handing out flyers, go to that one.}

The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) Art Fair 2008 Miami
{When you need a minute to relax, I highly recommend this fair. They have hammocks, a nice courtyard, and a little café. The location they hold it at, The Ice Palace Studios, used to be used regularly for raves. Unfortunately, it has been cleaned up, but is still a fun place to chill.}

{Now, a few years ago, SCOPE started this really cool trend, take over a hotel and turn all the rooms into mini-galleries. They did it at the Townhouse. This gives the show a very intimate and unusual feel. Then they moved across the bridge and opened in a big, bland white tent. Others quickly copied their cool idea, opening up hotel fairs. Some of them have also gone the way of the tent.

This year, it has gotten even worse. This huge, bland, mall-complex has opened in the middle of the Miami art zone called Mid-Town Miami. It is lame and generified beyond all belief. For some reason, the art dealers have decided that being near a bunch of corporate band-name stores would be a good idea and a number of them are setting up next to the complex. Well, it might make it convenient, but in my opinion it takes away from the real essence of the art, creativity and self-expression.}

Red Dot Miami
{Last year, Red Dot was this very funky and cool new little fair in one of the less swanky but soulful hotels on Miami Beach, the South Seas. You can still see their old webpage here – http://www.reddotfair.com/reddotfair-miami.htm – This year, they are moving to the zomplex (zombie complex) over in Midtown. However, hopefully, they will still have fun art.}

SCOPE Art Fair Miami 08
{SCOPE was one of the first of the ancilliary fairs. We went that first year when it was small and energetic. It was the first to host a hotel fair, which at the time seemed very creative and original. It has since gotten incredibly popular and moved to the big, bland tents, like everyone else, and in doing so, lost some of its originality and individual character. In any case, they have always had some great works, so I recommend fitting it into your schedule.}

{Okay, that looks like all I have for now. Please bookmark this page. I will update it as I have more information. If you want to send me information about your fair or a show that you know about, please send it to examiner-AT-uncommontimes.com (replace the -AT- with @, it kills spambots) and I will add it to the list. Again, I encourage everyone to get out there and find the hidden gems. One last suggestion, make a spreadsheet. List out all the fairs and parties you want to go to. Sort them by location or art style, or whatever is most important to you. It will really help.}

ART DECO BLOCK PARTY
Join Miami Design Preservation League, the City of Miami Beach Mayor Matti Bower and Commissioners, Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau for a block party celebrating the Art Deco Gift Shop on 12th Street and Ocean Drive. While MDPL’s home in the 10th Street Auditorium is being renovated, we’ve opened a new Gift Shop filled with Art Deco fun, and we’re hosting a party to introduce the Gift Shop to Miami Beach residents.

From 9:00 – 11:00 am, we’re closing the eastern portion of 12th Street at Ocean Drive for the event. In addition to the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Gift Shop, we’ll also be unveiling the 2009 Art Deco Weekend® poster, specially created by Miami-based artists Roberto Behar and Rosario Marquardt, on the theme of Down Argentine Way: Deco • Vino • Tango.

You can also be among the first to purchase the new Monopoly Miami and the Beaches game, featuring prominent Miami Beach locations and benefitting MDPL. You can enter a drawing for great prizes, and enjoy light refreshments. Free admission.

The Art Deco Block Party is made possible with the generous participation of the Palace Bar and Grill.

Location: Art Deco Gift Shop, 12th Street, just west of Ocean Drive, Miami Beach

UBS and Best Buddies International will bring together the finest Spain has to offer in food, music and festivities for the Twelfth Annual Miami Gala: La Fiesta Española on Watson Island. His Excellency Jorge Dezcallar de Mazarredo, Ambassador of Spain to the United States of America, and Rafael Nadal, the number one-ranked tennis player in the world, will serve as Honorary Chairs for the Gala, which features a formal dinner, live and silent auctions, and a concert by Earth, Wind and Fire.

“We are extremely proud of our annual Miami Gala, which has become a tradition that brings together the most generous, enthusiastic, and energetic people in Miami to support social integration for people with intellectual disabilities,” says Anthony K. Shriver, founder and chairman of Best Buddies International. “Best Buddies is fortunate to have a thriving country program in Spain, and we are excited that this event gives us the opportunity to showcase the support of our European friends, including an extraordinary Buddy Pair from Best Buddies Spain, who will take the stage to describe what their friendship means to them.”

The Gala never fails to bring together Miami’s most notable residents and celebrities from around the globe for a night of entertainment and fundraising. Celebrity guests expected to attend this year include: actors Matt Damon and Verne Troyer; actresses Linda Gray, Kelly Hu, and Vanessa Hudgens; Miss USA Crystle Stewart; Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza; Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis; and singer Macy Gray.

As always, there will be a number of spectacular items up for auction, including a “Brothers and Sisters” script autographed by Rob Lowe, a Cartier watch, an Audi Sportscar Experience in Sonoma, California, and luxurious getaways to Spain and Tahiti.

And, in anticipation of Art Basel, select works from the Best Buddies Artist Collection, including pieces by Roy Lichtenstein, Jim Dine, Robert Rauschenberg, William Wegman, and Hunt Slonem, will be on display at the Gala. Guests will be able to purchase these magnificent works of art, with proceeds to benefit Best Buddies.

For tickets and information, call Scott Tracy at 305-374-2233, Ext. 217, or email scotttracy@bestbuddies.com.

MBC photographic exhibition: The Frida Files by Leo Matiz 11/14/08

“NEW AMERICAN INDEPENDENTS”:
AZAZEL JACOBS~Momma’s Man (FRI & SAT 7:45pm & 9:35pm)
JOSHUA SAFDIE~The Pleasure of Being Robbed (SUN 8:30pm)

And…the November MBC photographic exhibition:
“The Frida Files” by LEO MATIZ

Leo Matiz (1917-1998) was born in Aracateca, Colombia, but was known internationally as a “citizen of the world”. The intense and stark compositional beauty of his photographs are world famous, particularly in some of the iconic portraits of our time, and especially in his immortal legendary portraits of Frida Kahlo. Matiz was a master at depicting the internal passions of his subjects, with graphic grace and sharp contrasting
elements defining their features. Like Sergei Eisenstein’s gorgeously photographed film Que Viva Mexico! (which screens November 30th as a companion piece and closing night event to this MBC exhibition, and is accompanied by the modernist electronic music of DJ Maximus 3000), the images of Leo Matiz capture history told through faces. These images are on display courtesy of Alejandra Matiz, the artist’s daughter, who will be a special guest on closing night. The photographs are also for sale.

A Caribbean Rhythm at Lexus of Kendall 11/14/08

Lexus of Kendall is having an Art Reception this Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.

Nikki Beach Miami Invites You To This Years Season Opener 11/15/08

Nikki Beach is proud to announce the Saturday Residency of Internationally re-knowned DJ jojoflores
**Saturday November 15th 2008 and Every Saturday Thereafter**

Music-Dedication-Passion

‘jojoflores’ has come a long way from his original Montreal residencies in the 80’s. Now reaching globally, he is current, dedicated, and consistently collaborating with international DJ’s, producers, club owners, and corporate affairs. He represents and purveys soulful dance music in every way possible: he is CEO of Gotsoul Recordings, founder of 9 year Therapy Soirée, and his CD compilations. This winning combination has managed to break musical barriers that otherwise would never have come down without his trademark packaging of music & events.

jojoflores’ hard work and dedication has won him an established reputation in the music industry and has awarded him multiple residencies at famed clubs world wide, including New York’s Cielo, as well as others in San Francisco (Pink), Chicago, Toronto, Miami, Los Angeles (Deep), Hawaii (Lotus), Cape Town, Dubai & Athens.

He was voted “Best International DJ” 4 years running by NYC’s Underground Archives.

His musical influences range from: Chaka Khan, Prince, Stevie Wonder, A Tribe Called Quest, to the Beatles. jojoflores, like Afrika Bambaataa is searching for “The Perfect Beat”, and his close connection with the pioneers as well as the new jack producers of soulful dance music brings him closer to this goal. He wants “to put the message out there, being optimistic in a chaotic world where positive times are hard to come by.”
jojoflores does this…he brings optimism without fail every time he performs.

Curator’s Voice Art Projects Opening in Wynwood 11/8/08

Curator’s Voice Art Projects
Led by Milagros Bello
cordially invites you
To the Opening Reception of its new space
In Wynwood Art District
Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 7 pm

Rosario Bond, Bunny Girl, Oil over Canvas, 2008, 90 x 90 in

CURATOR’S VOICE ART PROJECTS, led by curator Milagros Bello, has selected the works of Rosario Bond based on their quality and visual strength. CURATOR’S VOICE ART PROJECTS has organized the show LIPSTICK to be presented as part of the main venues within the Miami art scene. LIPSTICK will open on November 8, 2008, and will run during Art Basel week, closing on February 14, 2009.
Rosario Bond proposes neo-expressionistic paintings made out of thick layers of impasto, where figures, objects, and nature intertwine in voracious and parodic relationships. Her most recent series depicts parodies of icons, such as rock stars, models, and other portraits represented through gestural brushstrokes and a bright and intense palette. Her figurative approach is done through a humoristic stanza. Her paintings are collections of personal mythologies combined with critical imagery, posed over disrupted settings and dislocated compositions inhabited by unusual and eerie objects. Her works are a monumental palimpsest of delirious and contrasting shapes that establish a radical dialogue with the Contemporary German neo-expressionists.

Galerie Helene Lamarque Opening in Wynwood 11/8/08

Galerie Helene Lamarque Cordially invites you to the Pre-Opening Reception of its new Gallery In Wynwood Art District
Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 7 pm
Thierry Farcy, The United States of France, 2008 Photograph

Beyond the Body: An Inaugural Exhibition
Hélène Lamarque is pleased to announce Beyond the Body, the inaugural exhibition of her new space in Miami’s Wynwood Art District. The group show, marking the opening of the gallery’s first location outside of France, will introduce some of the artists from the gallery’s program to its new neighborhood.
In their own, very distinct ways, the works of 12 artists speak to the representation of the human body and its connection to that which exists beyond the physical realm of passive flesh and its aesthetic appearance. The soma-body is the source of our capacity to feel and to think: It is the nature of our bodily perceptions that fashion our knowledge and construction of the world. The body is the basic medium of experience and existence. It is both the object and the subject of works that question the role it plays in realm of ethics, cognition, politics and aesthetics. The works question the conception of corporeality itself.
Conceived specifically for the new Miami gallery by French artist Thierry Farcy (b.1965), a series of photographs, The United States of France, explores the idea of the United States as a now necessary melting-pot of ideology. A video by the artist in the gallery’s adjacent sculpture garden will accompany the series.
The paintings of Indian artist Bose Krishnamachari’s (b.1963) Stretched Bodies series, which embody the frenetic energy and life of Indian megacities, will be presented in Miami for the first time since the gallery’s participation in last year’s Art Miami fair, also in Wynwood. Krishnamachari is considered the rising star of India. The photographs of Akbar Padamsee (b.1928), recognized as one of the most important Indian artists, reveal the body as a construction, forming compositions of contours, light and shadow. Also representing the gallery’s contemporary Indian program will be works by Manish Pushkale (b.1973), Anish Kapoor (b.1954) and Paris-based artists Anju Chaudhuri (b.1944) and Debesh Goswami (b.1965).
A Body Container, fashioned from the knitting of old magazine pages, by Chinese artist Movana Chen (b.1975) “examines the relationship between clothing and the news/media industry and our consumption of disposable commodities,” while the torn-paper works of Afghani artist Barmak Akram (b.1966), also made of magazine pages, treat the revelation of the female form in natural images. Portuguese artist José de Guimarães (b.1940) defines the contours of the human form in his neon works. And French artist Francois-Xavier Fagniez (b.1936) will present his nature-inspired abstract pictures. The painter, acting almost as a shaman, explores the earth’s fundamental elements through his body’s perception. Also on the border of the ritualistic, one of Damien Hirst’s (b.1965) spin paintings completes the show.
Hélène Lamarque opened her first gallery, in 1994, at the age of 24. She also directs a gallery in Paris’s 7th arrondissement, on the Left Bank. Presenting modern and contemporary art, the gallery has been specializing in Indian contemporary art for the past four years.

The opening reception is free and open to the public

Bike Miami Ciclovía! 11/9/08

Bike Miami Ciclovía!

Downtown Miami closes streets to cars, opens city to Bicyclists and Pedestrians.

This will be Miami’s first Cyclovia. Miami will be closing several downtown streets and part of Brickell and will only allow for cyclists to use them. We’ll be meeting for this at the Government Center. This is an extra-curricular ride, and since roads are closed to cars, you can ride at your own speed and it’s encouraged to meet people. This may take place more in the future, we’re definitely looking forward to this.
Bring as many people as you want, this event will be great.
So the tentative ride is from Flagler St W & 1st Ave by the courthouse to Bayfront, and looping back down Miami Ave to Mary Brickell Village.

Ciclovía (also Ciclovia or Cyclovia) is a Spanish term, meaning “bike path,” used in Latin America to mean either a permanent designated bicycle route or a temporary event closing of the street to automobiles to allow dominance by other users. Permanent designated bicycle lanes are also known as ciclo-rutas, while streets temporarily closed for that purpose are always called ciclovías.

Time and PlaceDate: Sunday, November 9, 2008
Time:10:00am – 3:00pm
Location: Downtown Miami
Street: Flagler (from Courthouse to Bayfront) & SE 2nd Ave from Flager to 10th St

Spinello Gallery Welcomes: Typoe – Miami’s Most Infamous Street Artist 11/8/08

Spinello Gallery is pleased to announce a new addition to the family, Miami’s most infamous street artist: TYPOE. Keep posted for his debut solo exhibition coming this February.

MIAMI NEW TIMES
CITY OF MIAMI BULLIES MARTIN MARGULIES
WILL THE ART COLLECTOR BE FORCED TO PAINT OVER A MURAL ON HIS OWN WAREHOUSE IN WYNWOOD

The City of Miami hopes the Wynwood Art District might finally bring some hip to the downtown area. One of the scene’s anchors is the massive Margulies Collection at The Warehouse on NW 27th Street. Martin Margulies has taken to granting permission to handpicked graffiti artists to spray-paint elaborate murals on the building’s sides.

But a Miami code enforcer recently delivered a citation to the gallery. The infraction: a giant apocalyptic mural spray-painted by artist TYPOE and six others. The piece has at its center the image of an emaciated human figure violently squeezing an alien-like creature. Across the top of the mural are the letters TCP, for The Cat’s Pajamas, the name of TYPOE’S graffiti crew. The artist estimates he spent 200 hours on his part of the mural.

But the code enforcer declared the mural graffiti. The collector was ordered to paint over the mural or face fines.

Margulies was indignant. “We said to them: ‘This is not graffiti. Graffiti is lines and scribbles against the property owner’s will…. This is urban art, and this is an art district.'”

TYPOE, who declines to give his real name, says gallery managers throughout Wynwood have been pressured to paint over murals by him and other graffiti artists. “They’ve handed down fines of $200 a day,” he says. “Basically, if it looks urban, they don’t want it. If there’s any hint of hip-hop – which isn’t even what my work’s about, but they don’t know what they’re talking about – they don’t want it. If there are any hints of letters that aren’t advertising a store, they don’t want it.”

Code enforcement referred New Times to inspector Jackie Gil, who did not respond to our e-mails.

On November 12, Margulies will fight for the mural at a code enforcement hearing. “Who is the city to say what is art and what isn’t?” asks TYPOE.

The Cosmic Glob Show : the work of Krk Ryden-Duplicated 11/8/08

THE COSMIC GLOB SHOW
The spectacular work of KRK RYDEN

November 8th – December 6th
Opening reception: Saturday, November8th, 2008 7pm- 11pm
Harold Golen Gallery, 314 North West 24th St. (off of NW 2nd Ave.) Wynwood Art District, Miami, Florida 33127.

Admission is free!

KRK Ryden’s art is a record of mongrel pop culture. His aesthetic is informed by comic books, punk rock, and cartoons, while his world view is strictly DEVO. KRK’s work embraces everyday absurdity and a cartoony view of reality. His paintings are colorful and visually appealing reflections on discarded icons, and his graphics are well-realized snapshots of cartoon life. For over thirty years, KRK has been creating illustrations and paintings for underground bands, publishers, and institutions.

KRK was born in Seattle, Washington but didn’t stay there long.
His early years were spent growing up in Southern California, in cities like Anaheim, the home of Disneyland. KRK’s uncle Al was employed by Disney in the late 50’s and early 60’s as a manager of the ‘Main Street’ area of Disneyland. Because of this, “Keithie” got a lot of free E tickets. When he was four, he was introduced to old man Walt himself. Later that day, due to all the excitement, little Keithie hurled at the entrance of Disneyland, right on the cobblestone street.

Leap forward to Canyon High School, Castro Valley, 1968. In his sophomore year, an art class assignment would define his painting and drawing style, and consequently influence the artistic style of his brother, Mark Ryden. An art teacher had each student reach in a hat and pick a slip of paper with the name of a particular art movement scrawled on it. The student was to write a paper on the movement of art randomly chosen. When KRK (then Keith) picked “Surrealism,” he was peeved because he wanted to write about the Italian Renaissance. Another reason for the upset was because he had no clue what Surrealism meant. The word had looked utterly foreign. But after checking out a few school library books and seeing for the first time the art of Dali, the artist’s art and life was changed permanently. This art triggered a sort of rebellion; it created a disdain for the norm. There was no turning back to the imagery of landscapes, still-life, and puppies.

FULL HOUSE | POOL ART FAIR | MIAMI BEACH 2008
Frere Independent is proud to present its annual independent art fair, PooL. This is the fourth edition of the PooL Art Fair in Miami, and it is slated for December 5, 6 & 7 2008 at the Cavalier Hotel, during the art week in Miami. Of the many fairs that are happening at this time, PooL is the only one that is presenting the work of independent artists.

The simple, modest approach of the PooL Art Fair offers an exciting alternative to the “art fair” experience for dealers and collectors as well as the general public. PooL’s purpose is to create a meeting ground for outstanding artists, primarily those who do not yet have gallery representation. The show will be comprised of young contemporary art dealers, artist agents, emerging galleries, artists’ collectives, and non-profit organizations. Hence, the fair will serve as an invaluable resource for the artistic community and the general public. Exhibitors will be given rooms in which to display their work, creating a unique and intimate setting. They will share with the public their most recent works: unique, original, and challenging art.

PooL is produced by Frere Independent, a not-for-profit art organization, that provides new avenues of dissemination and widespread visibility to emerging and independent artists who do not currently have gallery representation.

Originally envisioned as an event that would promote camaraderie in the arts by providing a meeting ground and market place for artists, art dealers, curators, and the public, the goal of the PooL Art Fair is to engage the public by making art accessible, and to encourage them to support artists. It’s imperative that artists be able to eat, read, and pay their rent just like anyone else.

PooL Miami 08 | Hours
Thursday December 4 Check-in time 3pm
Friday December 5 4pm- 10pm
Saturday December 6 4pm- 10pm
Sunday December 7 4pm- 10p

Participation in PooL Art Fair
The deadline for sending in the application has been extended. However, space is limited and rooms will be assigned as we receive and accept applicants. The show could fill up before the deadline arrives, so please do not wait for the last minute to apply!

To Apply:
Please submit an initial application to receive further information for submitting samples of your artwork. You can access the application at: http://www.divafair.com/divastore/home.php?cat=48 Under Pool Art Fair click on applications and follow the necessary instructions.
All applicants will be reviewed by the PooL Video Miami Beach 2008 Selection Committee, a peer group of international curators. Only the exhibitors who are accepted by the Selection Committee may exhibit at the fair.

Important notification from the fair management
Although art fairs opened to non-represented artists were a tradition in France at the time of Courbet’s famous Salon des Independents, they were non-existent in the U.S. until the creation of the PooL art fair. It is important that all artists understand that PooL is an exchange platform created for the artist. It is with the communication effort of each artist that the fair will be successful. In other words, each artist is responsible for his or her own success. Please invite every one you know, every one you meet and most importantly, every one you want to know. Space is limited, rooms will be assigned as we receive and accept applicants. The show could fill up before the deadline arrives, so please do not wait for the last minute to apply!

PETER MACKIE, Recent Photography
Nov 8th to Nov 22, 2008
Reception: November 8, 7 to 10 pm

Abba Fine Art is pleased to present curator, Milagros Bello, Ph.D of Curators Voice’s selection of PETER MACKIE’S recent photographic images.

Peter Mackie’s photographic images present scolding references to urban elements and recreate a constructivist world of tools and industrial materials in a rough and textured environment. Compiled in chaotic arrangement of a Baroque ‘horror vacui’, Mackie overload his photographic scenes with multileveled meanings from social allusions to personal memories. Surprises and discoveries unexpectedly appear in the diverse and delirious combination of incongruous and disparate elements, either relating to domestic life or to urban detritus. There is an excess of the visuality in his works, an exaggerated overpopulating of objects that reminds us the excess and accumulation of things in our consumer oriented society. Mackie is an obsessive collector of items that mostly they relate to its surrounding in the busy and overpopulated New York City. We can call Mackie’s photographs ‘natura morta’, urban still life, or in the most extreme case, dead collectible. But in whatever sense we approach to these works, we know we are dealing with a contemporary ‘vanitas’ that alludes to the futility of life and its ultimate mortal essence. The ephemeral effects of these used and discarded articles link to death and disappearance.

For further information about this exhibition or for a private viewing, please contact the gallery at (305) 576-4278 or via email at art@abbafineart.com. For press inquiries and image requests, please contact ABBA FINE ART.

About Abba Fine Art:
Abba Fine Art’s objective is to showcase samples of the diversity found in the creative flow of today’s contemporary art scene. The gallery stable includes works from artists that deal with different aesthetics as well as ideological dynamics. The subjects represent different aspects of life, ranging from the organic and natural to the psychological, figurative and pop culture references.

This family-friendly event also provides entertainment for all ages, food of many cultures, and an Art Park for children 5-12 years old, allowing them to create their own arts and crafts while parents stroll the Festival. $10/hr per child for the Art Park.

Our yearly Beaux Arts Festival of Art brings the community together for a lovely weekend as well as allows Beaux Arts to support various art endeavors throughout the year. David Castillo Gallery opens Glexis Novoa Old / New 11/8/08

David Castillo Gallery opens Glexis Novoa Old / New, Saturday November 8, 7-10 pm
David Castillo Gallery is proud to present Old / New, a solo exhibition by Glexis Novoa. Novoa renders cityscapes like peering into a curio cabinet and coming face-to-horizon with societal apocalypse in miniature. In Harold and the Purple Crayon, a children’s book by Crockett Johnson, Harold draws his own picaresque narrative into being. With similar intuition, autonomy, and deceiving innocence, Novoa’s sculptural approach to drawing conjures urban environs as products of and covert oppositions to totalitarianism. The exhibition includes work the artist has been developing over the past several years: his graphite on marble and graphite on dry wall drawings. The exhibition includes new bodies of work as well, such as an installation and color prints.

Novoa constructs a language of symbols based upon icons of political, ideological, religious, and Art Historical significance in the trench between what one sees and expects to see. In this no-man’s land, Novoa re-codifies the past, critiques the present, and projects a future either destined for disrepair or ripe for collaboration and creative reconstruction. Novoa’s architectural surfaces of marble and drywall evoke the construction of history. Similarly, his use of graphite evokes the written word, further aligning the viewer with the authorship of history, and history with interpretation.

Unlike Harold’s innocuous wandering, Novoa’s work brews an urgency implicit in the satellites, monuments, microchips, and parachutes almost voyeuristic in their revelation of the past and manifestation of the future- two unknowns responsible for the despair and hope entwined in Novoa’s work. Post-Guerrilla / Post- Terrorism, for example, suggests both static complacency in the wake of guerrilla attack and the naming (in the fashion of Art History) of a successive militant movement.

Confronting Novoa enables one to realize the weightlessness of pedigree in the face of universal concerns such as alternation of landscape, destruction of life, and perpetuation of culture. Novoa causes the viewer to isolate and associate objects, endowing them with potential energy. The symbolic nature of his drawings warns that if not given a collaborative, pensive, and immediate push in the righteous direction, a force beyond human power and Newtonian physics will seize the opportunity, perhaps to disastrous results.

Glexis Novoa was born in Holguin, Cuba and lives and works in Miami. He studied at the National School of Art, Havana and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, ME. His work has appeared in Artnews, New York Times, Miami Herald, Artpapers, and Art in America among many other publications. He is also included in the Phaidon book Vitamin D: New Perspectives in Drawing. The artist has exhibited at prestigious venues throughout the US, Latin America, and Europe.

In the project room, the gallery is pleased to present Jay Ore. Ore’s work investigates the intersection of comic and vulnerable elements through observations of the UFO phenomenon. His paintings and Polaroid collages blend fantasy and reality, pop culture and myth in Miami and society at large. Ore lives and works in Miami and has exhibited widely at venues such as Miami Dade College and Old Capitol Gallery in Tallahassee, FL.

About David Castillo David Castillo has been a private art consultant and art dealer for over a decade. Agustina Woodgate – Solo Exhibition at Spinello Gallery: Letting Down 11/8/08

Spinello Gallery

Spinello Gallery (2294 NW 2nd Avenue, Miami Florida – 33127) is pleased to present the highly anticipated solo exhibition, “Letting Down,” by Agustina Woodgate. This will be Woodgate’s second solo show with the gallery for which the space will be transformed into a theater for one night only.

Woodgate invites the audience to her photo shoot – experiencing a daunting performance and witnessing her process as she creates her next photographic series, “Rapunzel.” This will be Woodgate’s 3rd performance in her ongoing “Fairy Tale” series.

The one night improvised performance consists of a sculptural installation, which becomes the backdrop for Woodgate as she is adorned with a massive 30-Foot long Rapunzel-esq wig painstakingly spun by the artist with human hair. Joining the artist for the first time as a character in the theatrical performance will be Woodgate’s mother, Teresita Sabatte. Also, local Miami collaborators Federico Nessi and Alexander Puentes will be providing the score that will dictate Woodgate’s performance. The score, which dominates and coordinates the actions of the performers, will not been disclosed to the artist until the night of the performance. The photographic series created will be available following the opening night.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, November 8th at 7pm. The performance starts at 8pm and runs continuously through 10pm.
Exhibition through November 22nd.
_________________________________________________________________________
Agustina Woodgate is an interdisciplinary artist who explores the concepts of the human body, human identity, and human behavior through a wide range of media, including photography, installation, sculpture, video, and performance.

She is not only captivated by self-perception, but she is particularly interested in the ways that human beings relate to each other, and how people naturally, or unnaturally, relate to the materials around them. Through her work she explores how malleable and impressionable human identity really is and how an individual’s perception can easily persuade what they see and accept as truth.

The notions of memory, heritage, tradition, and ritual appear repeatedly in her work and occupy a nebulous space that exists between the innocence, magic and fantastic dreams of a child, and the mature sarcasm of an adult. Using whatever material suits her purpose, she transforms the mundane into the enchanted and weaves together the varied properties of the physical and the spiritual, the internal and the external, and the personal and the collective.

To Ms. Woodgate, the meticulous process of creation is as significant as the final result. Through creation she often arrives at a paradoxical relationship with the materials being used, and in many cases discovers that the act of collecting material is the first step toward discovering the ambiguous poetic narrative behind the piece.

Ms. Woodgate was born in 1981 in Buenos Aires, and currently lives in Miami. She earned her BFA from the National University of Visual Arts in Buenos Aires. Her work has been exhibited and performed internationally and has appeared in the Museo Nacional del Grabado, Salon Nacional de Instalacion, Salon Nacional de Arte Textil (Bs. As), Museo Casa Blanca (Puerto Rico), Hollywood Biennal (Miami), MOCA (Miami), Portland Art Center, among other venues.

Bakehouse ArtCenter Collaborative Exhibition 11/8/08

Opening Reception Saturday, November 8th, 2008 from 7-10 pm
Saturday, November 8th, 2008
Form ← Function is the second installment of “Bridging The Gap” a collaborative exhibition series between the ArtCenter/ South Florida and the Bakehouse Art Complex. Seven artists-in-residence from each institution were asked by Jacquenette Arnette and Lauren Wagner, curators for each space, to think about their visual language and what methods they use to communicate ideas around their work. The art works chosen involved articulate opinions, narratives, emotive gestures and statements that are direct and identifiable by audiences. Constructions like comedy, gesture, metaphor and symbolism help carve out and develop the dialogue. The resulting exhibition centers on a viewer-centric show that imparts what is most important to each artist involved.
Form ← Function is not only an examination of that intuitive communication but of a symbiotic understanding of the ‘other’ in the close knit relationship developed between the artist and observer.

Chosen by Billboard Magazine as one of the “2008 Faces to Watch” columnists Kerri Mason raves, “Combining earthiness with glamour and roots-deep house music knowledge with pop wise diversity, Anané could be the first up-from-the-nightclub superstar since Madonna.” 2008’s Ananésworld is the multi-talented singer-songwriter debut album on the US’s pioneering Tommy Boy, and with it the world is set to discover the heartfelt, soulful and eclectic musical stylings of one of music’s shining lights.

The term ‘legend’ is applied to many DJ’s and producers without credence; Louie Vega is one of the elite few who truly warrant the title. From the Latin influences that shaped the early stages of his career, through his inspired partnership with Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzalez as Master at Work, to his winning a Grammy in 2006, Louie Vega is one of the true pioneers of House music.

Sundari Foundation, 4th Annual Contemporary Art Auction 11/8/08

Sundari Foundation, Inc. & Martin Z. Margulies Family Foundation
Host 4th Annual Contemporary Art Auction
Benefiting Lotus House Women’s Shelter
Date: November 8, 2008
Place: Margulies Warehouse
591 NW 27 ST
Miami, Fl. 33149
To see donated art or purchase tickets go to www.lotushouseshelter.org
Tel: 305.365.2478
Fax: 305.365.3887

Andy Warhol’s iconic Pop Art Campbell’s soup can is the inspiration behind the 4th Annual Contemporary Art Auction and Dinner to be held November 8th, 2008 at the Margulies Art warehouse to benefit the Lotus House Women’s Shelter www.lotushouseshelter.org and other initiatives of The Sundari Foundation, Inc.
Inspired by the well known work of art, this year’s event will feature a Pop Art, l960’s “soup kitchen” with an upscale twist. Art enthusiasts are invited to step back in time to the l960’s when social cause and commentary mixed with classic Americana to give birth to the contemporary Pop Art Movement, launching today’s astronomical contemporary art market and Warhol’s reputation as the most-renowned American pop artist.

Featuring an exciting culinary adventure amidst the extraordinary sculpture exhibition of the Margulies Art Warehouse, the auction will highlight contemporary artworks donated by prominent artists from around the world to benefit the Lotus House Women’s Shelter.

“We have once again been blessed by the amazing generosity of internationally recognized artists from around the world, such as Cindy Sherman, James Rosenquist, Magdalena Abakanowicz and Stephen Shore to name just a few,” says Constance Margulies, Sundari Foundation president.

The Sundari Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit, non-denominational, public charity dedicated to promoting the education, advancement and social inclusion of poor, disadvantaged and homeless women and children. The Sundari Foundation founded Lotus House in 2006 as a prototype resource center and transitional housing facility for homeless women in the heart of the historic African American district of Overtown, one of Miami’s poorest neighborhoods. Unique in Miami-Dade County, Lotus House includes a special wing for pregnant homeless women and their infants, with a full range of support services.

The Lotus House serves women who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, whether due to domestic violence, untreated mental illness, medical crisis, disabilities, loss of employment, or other economic reasons. Women come to the Lotus House by word of mouth and referral from temporary shelters, safe houses, rehab centers, hospitals, and straight off the streets. The Lotus House provides free housing for up to a year for women and their infants, meals, clothing and other basic human services. The shelter provides access to a wide range of support services and resources such as individual and group counseling, medical and mental healthy care, social services advocacy, job training and placement day care, housings assistance and post-exit follow-up.

“At least half of the funding needed to operate the shelter in the coming year is raised on the night of the annual gala, so we are hoping, especially in these difficult economic times, that our community will come together to support those in need and truly make a difference,” says Margulies.

Christies of New York and Miami will serve as auctioneers. Sponsors include Christies, Black Rock and Art Miami www.art-miami, the city’s long running contemporary art fair, AXA Art Insurance, Don and Audre Carlin, Bank of America, Singer Xenos Wealth Management, and Louis Wolfson III/Pinnacle Housing.

To see the event catalogue and donated artwork and for more information please visit www.lotushouseshelter.org. Tickets are $1000, $500 and $250. A private champagne reception begins at 6:30 pm for tickets at the $500 and $1000 levels. The dinner and auction start at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased on line www.lotushouseshelter.org or for more information please call 305.365.2478 or email outreach@lotushouseshelter.org.

MDPL presents Orson Welles in “War of the Worlds” 10/30/08

Thursday 30 October 7:00 pm

WAR OF THE WORLDS
On the evening of 30 October 1938, radio listeners in the New York area turned on their sets to hear a program of popular music. However, news breaks that interrupted the programming told of a horrific battle being waged by aliens who had landed from Mars. The ensuing panic on the eastern seaboard became one of the country’s largest outbreaks of mass hysteria, and public reaction in the following days ranged from bravos to brickbats.

The source of the panic was an inventive radio play produced by the Mercury Theatre company and its 23-year old director, Orson Welles. Although the program was identified as a radio drama based upon the novel War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells, the realistic effect of the use of the newscast format fooled many listeners into believing it was real.

Did Welles deliberately and irresponsibly create a dangerous regional panic, or did he skillfully expose a gullible public that believed everything that was labeled “news”? Come listen to the original broadcast from seventy years ago to make your own determination. Free admission.

Rubi Rey Cocktails, Noguera Vernissage & Brokers Launch 10/28/08

Rubi Rey Cocktails, Noguera Vernissage & Brokers Launch – October 28 at 6pm
Join us to celebrate the Official Launch of the Brokers Discount Program (details below) and “Unfolded Spaces” by Carlos Noguera

Open Doors, a furniture and lifestyle boutique located in the MiMo District, understands the challenges and opportunities that brokers and buyers are facing. As such, Open Doors has created a recession-proof program designed to help with one of the key steps in ownership: obtaining the right
furniture and home accessories. The Brokers Discount Program eases the process by providing agents with an appreciation card that entitles its clients to a 25% discount on their first purchase at Open Doors and 10% thereafter. Similar to a club membership, special perks apply, including exclusive invitations to events and one complimentary consultation with a licensed interior designer from proprietor Stephanie Tyler’s sister company, International Design Concept.

The official launch of Brokers Discount Program will take place on Tuesday, October 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Open Doors (7300 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami). Since all things at Open Doors are done with style, “Unfolded Spaces,” an exhibition of 15 new works by Carlos Noguera, will add an artistic touch to the store,s Contemporary Tropical palette. Influenced by modernism and its geometric underpinnings, Noguera creates wall-hung sculptures that reference painting, architecture and interior
design.

Free and open to the public, brokers and agents are encouraged to visit and sign-up at the event. Complimentary cocktails will be served courtesy of Rubi Rey Rum alongside light hors d’oeuvres.
