Grovetoberfest is back in the Grove, and it’s bigger than ever. For the past six years, the festival has served up one of the top craft beer events in the country, attracting close to 7,000 beer enthusiasts eager to drink unlimited samples of 400 beers from hundreds of breweries, all while listening to Live music. This year, festival organizers worked closely with Coconut Grove Commissioner Ken Russell to move back to where it all began in Peacock Park, and the news has been met with great excitement.

To celebrate, Grovetoberfest has put together a great lineup including “first time” pours from 81 Bay Brew Company, Aslin Beer Company, Hidden Springs Ale Works, Lord Hobo Brewing, Ocleot Brewing, and Proof Brewing Company. Some returning heavyweights include 3 Sons Brewing Co., Octave Brewing, and Odd Breed Wild Ales. Also returning will be Angry Chair Brewing, Civil Society Brewing, and J. Wakefield Brewing. Miami New Times’ Iron Fork celebrates its tenth anniversary Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Miami. Dining enthusiasts can enjoy dishes from some of the finest restaurants in South Florida. The event’s footprint will extend into the James L. Knight Center’s world-class theater and entertainment venue next door.

This year’s Iron Fork will grow exponentially, bringing culinary creations from more than 75 of South Florida’s luxury and fine-dining restaurants, including Amore de Miami, the Brick, Toro Toro, Texas de Brazil, Cibo Wine Bar, Morton’s Steak House, Dr. Limon Ceviche, Caja Caliente, Wine Date, Sensory Delight, Soyka, and Kaori, to name a few.

In addition, New Times is proud to announce a partnership with the Miami Rescue Mission. For almost a century, its outreach centers have been housing the homeless across South Florida. Today the mission’s Miami-Dade and Broward centers serve more than 1,300 men, women, and children each day. Last year, the organization served more than a million meals, many of them to hungry children. It also houses approximately 800 people in residential, life-changing programs. Guests can participate in a special raffle during the event, with 100 percent of all proceeds going to support the cause.

As in past years, celebrated chef Allen Susser will host the Chef Competition, a fierce fight to the culinary finish between two of Miami’s hottest toques. The competitors will be announced soon!

The epicurean event will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. for general admission ticket holders and will bring together thousands of young professionals, local businesses, and foodies for an evening of gourmet food selections, tasty libations, and live entertainment. Journey to the Mediterranean at the final First Fridays beach picnic of the season. Luckily, locals only have to drive a short distance to the beautiful Town of Surfside in order to experience live Middle Eastern music, belly dancers, interactive drum circle, Dead Sea exfoliating mud scrubs and Mediterranean bites. True to Mediterranean cultures, this event is a family-affair where guests are encouraged to bring their children and enjoy Surfside’s pristine beach, in addition to loads of kid-friendly activities. Chef Gavin Pera has drawn accolades for his work as chef de cuisine of Burlock Coast at The Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale. Chef Fabien Gnemmi is the hotel’s secret weapon in the kitchen; the machine behind the bustling property’s daily food & beverage and massive banquet and special event operations. The two are a culinary dream team and close collaborators but on Thursday, July 27 the duo will go toque-to-toque in a special one-night-only Chef Battle.

Guests are invited to don their best white attire for the annual Masterpiece event, a chic cocktail reception featuring mixed media artist Cory Bennett. The party, called “20” for the museum’s 20th anniversary, will feature live entertainment as well as heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer and a signature cocktail.

“Iconic Neo-POP,” a new show created by mixed media artist Cory Bennett, will be featured in the main gallery. Bennett combines pop themes, iconic images and neo-expressionist techniques to produce work that is wary of modern society. Born and raised in Las Vegas, Bennett has his own unique style of art that combines an urban “street” style with the use of found-media, providing the artist with an endless supply of complex and relevant subject matter.

In addition to Bennett, the Florida Watercolor Society will be featured in the East and Kuhn galleries. This 46th exhibition will feature works from Iain Stewart and Bev Jozwiak and is also part of the Society’s annual convention, which will bring nearly 500 artists from around Florida to Coral Springs.

For the sixth year in a row — every Wednesday in July — Executive Chef Adonay Tafur and Chef Joshua Gripper will host a backyard throw down at The Dutch in the W South Beach Hotel & Residences. Chefs will craft a mouth-watering BBQ feast served up family-style, along with homemade pies and treats by Pastry Chefs Jaclyn Marshal and Richard Vaughn.

The weekly event will take place from 6:30PM to 10PM in The Dutch’s very own backyard, the Grove. Kicking-off July 5th, guests can enjoy a delicious array of themed BBQ’s for only $40 per person, including tax and gratuity; excluding beverages.

For the 18th consecutive year, the City of Wilton Manors will host the largest LGBT pride event in the greater Fort Lauderdale area. Commemorating the Stonewall Riots of 1969, the Stonewall Parade and Festival draws nearly 40,000 participants from across the U.S. This year, the marketplace, which will open at 3 p.m., will feature more than 100 vendors, exhibitors and food trucks. For the past couple of years, South Florida has celebrated Colombian Independence Day at MegaRumba Colombia. SWARM and iHeart’s Tu 94.9 have revamped the festivity into an all-encompassing celebration with a broader reason to celebrate at MegaRumba: Celebrate YOUR Independence. This coming July 15, celebrate YOUR culture at the, free, all-day event in Wynwood — Miami’s most culturally dynamic neighborhood.

The free festival will run from 3PM to 3AM. It will focus on South Florida’s rich and vibrant melting pot, with special attention to its deep musical influences. People can expect to see activities for all ages throughout the day with programming moving into a full-blown concert as the day progresses. Handpicked art/craft vendors and food trucks will be available until the very end, offering a little bit of everything that makes South Florida so unique and tasty. In the past, organizers have brought Latin Billboard winners including Maluma, Grupo Niche, Jorge Celedón, ChoquibTown and Victor Manuel. The musical lineup will soon be announced, but it will include local town favorites and top performances provided by iHeart’s Tu 94.9 FM, a major sponsor since its inception.

Wynwood will see the streets come alive for the fourth annual Wynwood Life! It is held in Miami’s Art and Cultural District and is a true celebration of all things we love about South Florida – Food, Art, Music and Fashion! Twenty thousand people will fill the streets perusing art, crafts, jewelry and over 100 vendors all while being entertained by live art and music and noshing on local fare from over 40 food trucks!

WynwoodMap.com and The RAW Project will curate the Live Art Stage featuring a wide variety of street artists from around the World. The festival encourages students and emerging artists to take part in the “Emerging Artist Competition”. Wynwood Life is proud to have the Miami Art & Design Education Institute (M.A.D.E.) as the presenting sponsor, because M.A.D.E is known for elevating people’s art and design career to the next level by way of their industry-driven approach to education, through coaching, mentoring, and networking in the heart of Miami’s Art District. In addition, WYN 317 Gallery will be the gallery partner as well as being on the selection committee.

Over 20 bands and DJs will occupy the Live Music Stage featuring local favorites and hometown bands gone big such as Otto Von Schirach, Tamboka, Jeano Music, Hoy Palloy, Zander and many more.

The Style Lounge will offer free services including nail polish changes, a braid station and Henna. The Spot Barbershop will have a pop up for the men, and stylists will showcase multiple fashion shows by local boutiques, fashion bloggers including iShine365, Dyme Lyfe, graciouslylovedllc, Koko and Palenki, to name a few.

The Wynwood Culinary Showcase will feature top restaurants and chefs from the area providing teachable moments such as Chef Cesar Zapata from Phuc yea, who will teach us how to cook a whole fish. This year, the stage will also invite South Florida chefs outside of Wynwood who are taking the culinary scene to a higher level. Scheduled to make demos are Max Santiago, Bunnie Cakes, Crave Clean, Copper 29, and more. The Bitter Truth will have a pop up where they’ll carve the ice for each cocktail with a chainsaw, and they will also compete against Employees Only to come up with the “Best Cocktail” at Wynwood Life.

Joe’s Stone Crab in Miami Beach will be the scene of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s May 7, 6th Annual “Claws for Kids” fundraising brunch. Not only will guests enjoy delicious stone crabs and other signature Joe’s cuisine without the wait, but proceeds will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s many positive programs, including after school programs, homework assistance, computer training, social skills, dance, arts & crafts, professional mentoring, and summer and athletic programs, for area children who need them the most. South Florida foodies can unite to help fight childhood hunger on Friday, May 12, 2017 when South Florida’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry returns to Soho Studios in Wynwood. The annual tasting event will feature the area’s top chefs, sommeliers and mixologists united for a cause: making sure all children in this country get the healthy food they need, every day. Proceeds from the event benefit No Kid Hungry’s work to end childhood hunger in America. The 2017 event signals its second year in Wynwood, inarguably one of the country’s hottest neighborhoods.

The 29th annual tasting event will take place from 7PM to 10PM, followed by an exclusive after party for VIP ticket holders and Chefs at Wynwood’s own R House from 10PM to midnight.

Led by new Chef Chairman Timon Balloo, South Florida’s food and beverage tastemakers will provide guests with savory samplings, craft cocktails and delectable desserts. The event will be emceed by CBS4’s very own Lisa Petrillo and Y-100 Miami’s on air personality Nick Pena. The benefit will also feature a silent auction with exclusive packages and a Citi lounge area for guests to relax and savor specialty cocktails. New to this year’s festivities will be the first ever Taste of the Nation Speakeasy featuring six of the hottest mixologists in South Florida paired with a select spirit, serving a specialty cocktail of their creation.

The party will continue just down the street at R House where Chef/Owner Rocco Carulli will team up with additional restaurants to treat guests to tasty bites and pours late into the night. Additional news about the after party will be announced at a later date.

General admission tickets are priced at $125 per person. VIP tickets are priced at $175 per person and provide admission to the after party. VIP Plus tickets are priced at $200 per person and provide access to the event one hour before the doors open as well as admission to the after party. After Party admission tickets are priced at $75 per person.
