Craft beer lovers know that Grovetoberfest is a fun way to do some serious beer tasting of over 300 craft beers from around the world. This year, Grovetoberfest will move slightly South to Miami Marine Stadium; a move geared towards allowing more people to experience Florida’s largest beer festival. In addition, it has upped the ante by bringing a beer connoisseur on board who has been hand-selecting some of the rarest beers available for this year’s festival.

“We’re overflowing with good news. In our new home, Grovetoberfest will continue to offer local favorites and mainstream craft beers, but with a renewed focus on elite craft beers. We are working directly with the brewers to secure and reserve batches of incredibly esoteric and unique brews,” says Tony Albelo, organizer and chief sample taster for Grovetoberfest. This year, Blackberry Farms Brewery will be pouring in the VIP area. Civil Society Brewing will also be pouring at the event, making this the first time they’ve ever poured at a Miami-Dade beer fest. In addition, for the first time ever, Grovetoberfest will be pouring Prairie, Crooked Stave, To Øl, Mikkeller, and Slim Pickins. Aficionados will delight in sampling beers in the Sunshine State-of-Mind, a collection of over 40 Florida breweries including Wynwood Brewing Company, J. Wakefield Brewing, MIA Brewing, Funky Buddha, Saltwater, Banging Banjos, Due South and Biscayne Brewing, to name a few.

The new location allows for more room and easier parking. Other aspects of the festival include the VIP Lounge, which will be hosted by Chef M from Latin House Grill. In addition, it will offer certain perks not available to the general ticket holder such as specialty brews, covered seating area and air-conditioned bathrooms. The Homebrew Pavilion will showcase special brews made by passionate beer drinkers; the Food Row will offer food for purchase and the Kitchen Lab will feature beer/food pairing demonstrations by local chefs such as Ryan Martin from 180° at the DRB, and Zeke Man from 305 Brews. As usual, a Live Music Stage will feature dance-inducing music throughout the entire day.

On August 20th, 8:00 pm at the Awa Kava Lounge in Miami, FL, Executive Producer, Aprille Franks-Hunt and Producer, Nikki Woods, of the Tom Joyner Morning Show brings their powerful message to our community.
After returning home, native Miamian, Barbara Pender wanted her first project to give back to the community. A part of the proceeds will also be gifted to the Women Recharged foundation; they provide tools and resources to women “helping them lead lives that are electric”.

100+ Women Who Care Miami-Dade is changing the game for traditional fundraising, and impacting Miami-Dade local non for profits in a BIG way. This group of like-minded women is meeting once a quarter to gain awareness of local causes in the Miami- Dade community and selecting one lucky non for profit a quarter to donate their collective funds. As a donor advised 501c3 in partnership with The Miami Foundation, 100+ Women Who Care Miami-Dade was founded in 2014 and since then has donated over $40,000 directly to causes in need. How do they do it? Each member donates $400 per year which serves at four separate $100 donations to the four winning quarterly charities. Our next meeting will be back at Dolores Lolita on July 19th 5:30pm-8pm with networking before the meeting.

Caveman Cult has been relentlessly churning out some of the most savage death metal to come out of Florida over the past couple of years, gaining notoriety in death and black metal circles worldwide. Since 2014 the band has released two renowned demos, and played a handful of gigs in Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana. 2016 will see the release of their milestone debut full length “Savage War Is Destiny” as well as a vinyl re-issue of their second more obscure demo “Barbaric Bloodlust”. The band will also play this years notorious Cathedral Of The Black Goat festival which takes place in Chicago every October showcasing some of the most obscure and elite death and black metal acts from all over the world.

We will have the best of Miami entertainment with live performances, celebrity hosts, most successful DJ’s and the top nightlife Promoters from every venue in Miami, along with an a-list of celebrities, NBA-NFL-MLB players, models, special events and artists from every musical genre to name a few.

Our purpose is to give Miami something new and different by creating a once a month summer series that is ALL about Miami. It has never been done before. The Miami Design District and James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz are celebrating summer with Genuine Summer Series: a three-event culinary experience series in the Design District’s Palm Court with food from Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink (MGFD).

Kicking off the series on Friday, June 10 is Sundown Grillout, an outdoor feast off the Lynx Grill featuring pairings by Wines of Germany with special attention to Riesling varietals. Guests will enjoy a cocktail hour with passed bites followed by a three-course seated dinner at farm-style tables in breezy Palm Court. The evening will feature live music from Marcus Grant “Mutes & Roots” Jazz Trio.

Passed Bites – Crispy Shortrib romesco, duchilly hazelnuts; Slow Roasted Pork Pizza, fig, grilled onion, fontina, arugula; Wood-Grilled Florida Shrimp dill aioli; and Ricotta Crostini apricot thyme jam alongside Local Fish Ceviche and Classic Deviled Eggs. Paired with 2014 Blue Fish Original Dry Riesling, Pfalz.

First– Florida Mangos with torn herbs, bean sprouts, peanuts, nuoc cham vinaigrette, and fried onions. Paired with 2013 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Riesling Kabinett, Mosel.

Second – Rotisserie Leg of Lamb served family style with new potatoes, preserved meyer lemon, salsa verde, watercress along with merguez lamb sausage, pickled red onions, cucumbers, and yogurt. Paired with 2012 August Kesseler “N” Pinot Noir, Rheingau.

Churchill’s is teaming up with the Consulate of Ecuador in Miami to help coordinate efforts to send relief to the victims of the devastating earthquake that hit Ecuador on April 16th.

Dust 01 is one of the first events dedicated to the Miami Burmingman community, the goal is to spread our believes and love through art and music and create a strong bridge to bring local artist to Burningman. We aim to raise funds towards making our next year’s affair extraordinary and to bring local artists together to help us create art that will decorate our camp. Your monetary contributions, more specifically, will help us in the creation of our communal areas including dance floor, sound system, art installations, shower, evaporation systems, kitchen, and lounge area. There will be different mediums and paint provided for you let your creative side shine if you wish. If you are undecided about joining in the dust next year and are just looking to for a good time, you are guaranteed a night of lip-biting music, a carefree atmosphere and meeting fascinating people. Everyone is welcomed.

As part of Tap 42’s commitment to give back to the community, Tap 42 will host a Kickball Tournament on Saturday, October 3rd at Floyd Hull Stadium, located at 2800 SW 8th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315 to benefit PetSet and the Broward Humane Society. The cost is $25 per player, which includes 2 free drinks and light bites. Teams are made up of 10-15 players. All participants must be 21 years of age or older and must sign an event waiver before playing.

HalloWYN, a mash up of Halloween and Wynwood, is the place to be this coming October 31, where thousands of Miami’s most eclectic souls dressed in outrageous costumes will be at the largest “FREE” block party in Miami. One of Miami Beach’s favorite hangouts, Thompson Miami Beach, is celebrating the Fourth of July with a poolside Dirty BBQ. The cookout will be all-American with a Thompson twist, featuring messy favorites from Dale Talde’s Asian-American TALDE restaurant (opening late summer at Thompson), like the famous Kung Pao Chicken Wings with buttermilk ranch (5 for $8 or 10 for $10) and Korean Fried Chicken as a plate (1 pc, $10) or bucket ($25).
