Attention South Florida car enthusiasts! The brand new, exciting track layout will be released just prior to the event, featuring a course that is filled with plenty of fun, challenging and technical aspects. The car show is hosted and sponsored by Bizspeed.net and State of Stance, and attendees will also have the chance to donate to participating charities on-site, including Wounded Warriors of South Florida and the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Tickets for USDC spectators cost $15 and are available at the gate, as well as online for preorder at http://www.jackson-performance.com/.

USDC started as a conversation between co-founders Rich DeBerardinis, Chris Jackson and Tim Murphy with the goal of starting a Pro-Am/Pro level series and holding individual events throughout the country. Participants of the USDC will get a taste of what it’s like to be in the pros with this event, which will include both Solo (non-caged) Class and Tandem (caged) Class competitions with driver payouts to the top three in each class. A panel of judges will be on hand to score each participant based on four criteria of Speed, Angle, Line and Style.

Pre-registration for Solo Class costs $75 per person, or $150 for Tandem Class, both including a driver and two crew members. Payouts for Solo Class will be $250 for first place, $150 for second place and $75 for third place. For Tandem Class, $50 of each registration will go towards the overall payout pool, with minimum payouts of $400 for first place, $300 for second place and $150 for third place, based on 16 entries.

Preliminary vehicle inspections for the event are available by appointment at Jackson Performance in Pompano Beach, as well as during weekly Wednesday meetings at Starbucks near Sheridan Street and Flamingo Road in Pembroke Pines.

Registration is open to those 18 and older (or 16 with parental consent) with proper driver safety equipment, and who have use of an automobile that meets USDC technical requirements. To register, please visit http://www.jackson-performance.com/ and click on the USDC link to the left.

One of the world’s most powerful sports figures, former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, will bring his popular Broadway show, MIKE TYSON: UNDISPUTED TRUTH, to The Pavilion at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek on Saturday, November 10 at 9 p.m. This will be the only performance in Florida, giving fans a special chance to see the show and learn more about the star.

MIKE TYSON: UNDISPUTED TRUTH is a rare, personal look inside the life and mind of one of the most complicated men ever to wear the heavyweight belt. Directed by Academy Award nominee Spike Lee, this riveting one man show goes beyond the headlines, behind the scenes and between the lines to deliver a must-see theatrical knockout.

For nearly three decades, Tyson has been a legend both in and out of the ring. Tenacious, talented and thrilling to watch, Tyson embodies the wit and flair of a truly larger-than-life personality. With nicknames like “Iron Mike,” “Kid Dynamite,” and “The Baddest Man on the Planet,” it’s no surprise that Tyson was once the most feared fighter in all of boxing. He won his first 19 professional bouts by knockout, 12 of them in the first round, and one look at the long list of his victories and accomplishments is all that it takes to see that Tyson is one of boxing’s all-time greats.

While most fans know that he was once the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, few realize that before Tyson, no boxer had ever won the three biggest belts in prizefighting – the World Boxing Council, World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation world heavyweight titles. He holds the record as the youngest boxer to achieve that feat at the age of 20, and none, besides Tyson, have ever owned them simultaneously.

Throughout his career, Tyson became well known for his fierce and daunting boxing style. He was ranked No. 16 on Ring Magazine’s list of “100 Greatest Punchers of All Time” and No. 1 in the ESPN.com list of “The Hardest Hitters in Heavyweight History.” He has also been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame as well as the World Boxing Hall of Fame.

Tickets start at $145* and are available at www.ticketmaster.com. *Additional fees may apply

The chic affair draws upon the artistic talents of Haute Couture Fashion Designer Ozcar G., Photographer Yobe Crespo, and Fine Artist Leonor Anthony, featuring a SILENT AUCTION of exclusive, one-of-a-kind items, designed and handcrafted by the evening’s showcased artists:

An original Ozcar G. couture evening gown
Five pairs of pointe shoes belonging to the ballet’s principal dancers, hand-embellished and decorated by Ozcar G., himself
Five enlarged, original, autographed photographs of Miami City Ballet’s leading ladies modeling Ozcar G.s’ designs, by Yobe Photography
Original fine art work by Leonor Anthony
Handcrafted Shiroiy D. Cama White Sapphire Earings

MIAMI, FL (October 1, 2012) – At the forefront for the 2012-2013 season open of the Miami City Ballet, Haute Couture Designer Ozcar G., Fine Art Photographer Yobe and Painter Leonor Anthony fused arts to create a fundraiser towards the Shoe Fund of the Miami City Ballet via Project Pointe. This collaborative effort between fashion designer, fine art photographer, and painter produced a final outcome to be exhibited and auctioned during the opening night. Project Pointe was imagined by Jennifer Carlynn Kronenberg, in order to raise funds towards the costly toe shoes worn by ballerinas, pointe shoes last for one performance only, and the Miami City Ballet dancers go through more than 3,000 pairs per season with an average cost of $70 per pair. A one-night-only event is planned for Friday, October 19, 2012 in the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts – Peacock Rehearsal Room as part of the Artist’s Circle VIP Reception. The auction will be open to the general audience attending the performance that night. Participants of the auction will be invited to the Artist’s Circle Dessert Reception post production, where the winners will be announced.

The exhibit will feature a one-of-a-kind gown by designer Ozcar G. worn by principal dancer Jennifer Carlynn Kronenberg, which will be auctioned that night. Alongside the dress there will be five one-of-a-kind pointe shoes beautifully embellished by designer Ozcar G.— these toe shoes have been previously worn by the principal dancers for the 2012-2013 season (Tricia Albertson, Mary Carmen Catoya, Jeanette Delgado, and Patricia Delgado). “Every gown I make has a story and this particular one is very dear to me and I want the Miami City Ballet and one very lucky lady to take it home and at the same time benefit this magnificent cause” said Ozcar G. when presenting this gown for the auction.

As an integral part of the auction, Yobe, the photographer, contributed five photographic master pieces and these pieces will be on exhibit during the reception prior to program one, during the intermissions and post production. The photographs showcase the five principal dancers wearing five unique gowns by Ozcar G. and which are face mounted using a contemporary and unique way onto acrylic. These fine art photographs also transpired into a limited edition Poster designed by Yobe, which will be exhibited and presented to the patrons of the Miami City Ballet whom offer donations above $100 towards Project Pointe. “Each of the ballerinas gave their very best to Project Pointe and the collaborative effort created a synergy which in turn became this amazing work of art and ultimately will benefit the Miami City Ballet.” expressed photographer Yobe.

In addition to the other auction items,Expressionist artist Leonor Anthony has contributed an original oil on canvas masterpiece executed in her signature style and created specifically for the Miami City Ballet. This painting depicts ballerina pointe shoes painted on a large format ( 36” X 48”) and aptly named “In Her Shoes”. Leonor explains what inspired her: “I chose to paint this particular image because the shoes are the vehicle that enables the dancer to show us their craft. I wanted to express the wear and tear on the feet, as well as the shoes. For me, this painting represents a love of beauty, a love of dance.” Leonor’s piece contributes greatly towards the ultimate goal of Project Pointe. This exhibit moves seamlessly between haute couture, paintings and fine art photography. All of the pieces explore rich textures and vibrant colors.

This entire body of work is heavily influenced by the classical rhythms and imagery of the Ballet, executed by masters of their trade with one single purpose in mind: to support the Miami City Ballet and their Shoe Fund. The entire auction could help raise close to $100,000 for Project Pointe. For those wishing to attend the opening night of program one of the Miami City Ballet, please, visit www.miamicityballet.org for more information.

Miami runners are prepping to be hit with a tsunami of color on February 2, 2013 as they take on Color Me Rad 5K. As white-clad participants wind through Sun Life Stadium, they’ll be bombarded with color throughout the course until their face, shirt and body cross the finish line looking like a silkscreened tie-dyed hippie. Finishers, coated from head to toe in blue, green, pink, purple and yellow, will then toss individual bags of color in the air every fifteen minutes—not to summon rain from heaven—but to create a final explosion of color in celebration of their accomplishment. A portion of the proceeds of the race goes to The Miami Dolphins Foundation.

Compositions that paint an afro-cuban face with a transplanted american smile that only finds home in a jaded heart. 1,000 Fuegos presents ancestral sounds entombed by the filter of today’s modern pop perspective. All the way from Hialeah, FL – a concrete melting pot of cultures spanning from the Caribbean, South and Central America and the US- this music transcends our modern concept of diversity.
Currently residing in Portland (OR), this firey movement continues to gather local strength and support through regular performances for more than a year and will be releasing their first official EP in December (2011) including recordings from Miami *Phat Flow ( and Portland. With this EP, 1000 Fuegos will expand by performing throughout the NW and California. Recordings for a full-release begin in late October for a release in March of next year.

“Feel the Noize” as Quiet Riot Performs Free at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek’s Nectar Lounge

Seminole Casino Coconut Creek is offering the chance to “feel the noize” and see the rock and roll phenomenon Quiet Riot at Nectar Lounge FREE on Saturday, October 20 at 9 p.m. The Los Angeles quartet became an overnight sensation thanks to their monster 1983 smash album Metal Health.

The American heavy metal band, best known for their hit singles “Metal Health” and “Cum On Feel the Noize,” was founded in 1973 by guitarist Randy Rhoads and bassist Kelly Garni. The original line-up featured Rhoads and Garni with lead vocalist Kevin DuBrow and drummer Drew Forsyth. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist Scott Vokoun, drummer Frankie Banali, bassist Chuck Wright and guitarist Alex Grossi. Quiet Riot began by regularly opening for Van Halen in several local clubs, before either act had a record deal, and the co-influence can be heard between Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen.

Metal Health’s title track had been released as the album’s first single and reached No. 31 on the charts. The song’s success could be attributed to its appearance in the 1984 movie Footloose, as well as its popularity as a heavily-rotated video on MTV. The album stormed up the U.S. charts, duly reaching the number one spot and going platinum five times over in the process at that time.

In 1983, Quiet Riot’s second single “Cum On Feel the Noize” was released. A cover of the 1973 hit by Slade, the single spent two weeks at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was the first heavy metal song to make the top five on that chart. The success of the single helped carry the album Metal Health to the top of the Billboard album chart, making it the first American heavy metal debut album to ever reach No. 1 in the U.S. To date, the sales of Metal Health have exceeded the 10 million mark worldwide.

Quiet Riot returned to the studio to record 1984’s Condition Critical, which went on to sell over 2 million copies in the U.S. and included another chart-ready Slade cover in “Mama Weer All Crazee Now” and the self-penned “Party All Night.” The group has since gone on to release several successful albums and tour worldwide, and has been ranked on VH1’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.”

Both ballet connoisseurs and neophytes alike will enjoy this enchanting evening, including works from the comedic Coppélia, Russian-original The Spectrum of the Rose, Danish-born August Bournonville’s legendary love story The Flower Festival in Genzano, a premiere by Montreal, Quebec–based dance troupe La La La Human Steps Company (featuring Grace-Anne Powers), and a mix of classical and character dancing in Flames of Paris.
