It is with much excitement that the 4th annual South Beach Seafood Week is back kicking off Stone Crab Season in style! With three times the food, three times the experience, and only 1/3rd the wait, get ready for the ultimate seafood extravaganza featuring luxury dining on the sands of South Beach. The main event, South Beach Seafood Festival, brought to you by Kendall Jackson, will hit the beach! This year’s event will be presented by Jack Daniels, Breakthru Beverage, GOYA Foods, and Celebrity Cruises, and hosted by Coca-Cola.

The 2016 restaurants will pop up cafés for guests to enjoy 60+ of the best seafood menu items available in South Florida! The full list of restaurants include Joe’s Stone Crabs, Naked Taco, Red, the Steakhouse, CJ’s Crab Shack, Drunken Dragon, A Fish Called Avalon, Naiyara, Poseidon, Toro Toro, Trulucks, Papa’s Raw Bar, Midtown Oyster Bar, Café Avanti, CIBO Wine Bar, Naked Crab, The Avenue, and Whole Foods Market. Festival ticket prices start at an affordable price of $35 and include complimentary bars throughout the festival grounds. Guests can listen to music at the various music stages, including the Jack Daniel’s Beach Club, sip on refreshing wine or a few cocktails, enjoy chef and mixology demos in the Whole Foods Market, and spend the day trying all the delicious menu items from these luxury dining establishments, who keep their menu prices affordable between $5-$8, just for the Sobe Seafood day. Get ready for stone crabs, stone crabs, and more stone crabs, along with lobster tempura skewers, mahi sliders, scallop BLTs, oysters, shrimp tacos, lobster roll waffle cones, crab cakes in a shell, grilled octopus, shrimp parmesan, surf n’ turf filet and lobster, and more. The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) is delighted to announce Ignacio Berroa as part of the monthly Jazz at MOCA series. The Cuban-born drummer has been praised through the years for combining folkloric rhythms with contemporary jazz and funk, along with being recognized as one of the greatest drummers of our time. Through his many years of performing, Berroa has collaborated with a number of legendary artists including Dizzy Gillespie, McCoy Tyner, Jackie McLean, Jack Bruce, Wynton Marsalis and Jaco Pastorius to name a few.

Berroa released his first solo album, “Codes,” in 2006, which was nominated for a Grammy in 2007. The album also won a Danish Music Award in 2007 for “Best International Jazz Album.” He stands proud on the recent Blue Note Records Mp3 entitled “Jazz Drumming Legends” which features some of the most renowned drummers in Jazz history. The public is invited to come sit under the stars and enjoy the Afro-Cuban rhythms by Ignacio Berroa.

As part of Spotify’s recently launched “Clarify” initiative and video series aimed at getting millennials engaged on the issues and voting come November, Spotify is hosting a series of free cultural events in eight different cities centered around key issues that resonate with millennials such as student debt, income inequality, immigration and gun control. PINTA Miami is gearing up for its 10th anniversary celebration, which will take place from November 30 to December 4, 2016 at MANA Wynwood, located in the heart of the Miami Arts District. This edition will be the pinnacle of ten years that have left a mark on the world of modern and contemporary art from Latin America. In order to further our mission, PINTA Miami’s curatorial committee has expanded its project to include galleries from around the globe while maintaining a conceptual dialogue across all cultures, connecting Latin America to the rest of the world.

Launched in New York in 2006, the fair is considered the most important event of its kind. The founding of PINTA Miami was a milestone event in awareness of twentieth-century Hispanic-American art. It has increased the visibility in the United States of crucial figures like Julio Le Parc, José Gurvich, Jorge Eielson, Lydia Okumura, Antonio Manuel, Waltercio Caldas, Ivan Contreras Brunet, Carlos Cruz-Diez, and Spanish artist Elena Asins—all of whom have been featured in its exhibitions and galleries. Emerging contemporary artists like Elias Crespin, Ivan Navarro, Alexandre Arrechea, Dario Escobar, Matias Duville, Alejandro Londono, Gonzalo Fuenmayor, José Luis Landet, Ricardo Alcaide, Emilio Chapela, and many others have also participated in the fair. Through innovative management strategies, PINTA has been instrumental to major museums’ acquiring works by Latin American artists. A few examples of such acquisitions include a piece by Abraham Palatnik purchased by MoMA for its permanent collection; a work by Elias Crespín purchased by The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and a work by Fernando Bryce purchased by the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA).

“Thanks to its impressive programming, PINTA Miami 2015 was extremely well attended. Our curated sections featured not only works by a range of legendary artists, but also recreations of historical performances. The fantastic selection of participating galleries from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal built new relationships with international collectors and directors of art institutions, enabling a great many sales,” states Diego Costa Peuser, the founder and director of PINTA Miami. “There was great interest in figures like Romulo Aguerre, Reynaldo Luza, Roberto Obregon, and Elena Asins, and in artists born after the sixties like the Carla Arocha – Stéphane Schraenen duo.”

PINTA Miami 2016 will be more international and interdisciplinary. Thanks to their successful sections at last year’s edition, curators José Antonio Navarrete, Roc Laseca, and Jesus Fuenmayor will return this year to curate sections on photography, drawing, and solo projects respectively. This edition aims to continue to provide a platform for its participants and to further the fair’s mission of showcasing pioneering artists and discovering young talents.

In addition, PINTA Miami launches the Young Collectors Desk, an initiative of Guijarro de Pablo Art Consulting. The objective is to provide to the assistants -already avid collectors and enthusiasts of art – with the necessary tools to maximize the experience at the fair. The Young Collectors Desk aims to educate and give attendees the opportunity to explore the world of the arts with guided tours that focus on the construction and maintenance of a coherent and sustainable collection. The initiative is directed by Jimena Guijarro, who combines her knowledge of strategic communications with her experience and passion for the visual arts. One of her specialties is to introduce and facilitate the collecting processes to newcomers to the art world.

Aqua Art Miami, the sister satellite fair to Art Miami, will celebrate its 12th edition at the Aqua Hotel (1530 Collins Avenue Miami Beach, FL 33139), from Wednesday, November 30th to Sunday, December 4th, 2016. The festive Preview has become the destination of influential collectors and art professionals who migrate en masse from the Art Miami and CONTEXT fairs at the Pavilion.

One of the best fairs for emerging art during Miami’s Art Week, Aqua Art Miami has consistently earned critical recognition for presenting vibrant and noteworthy international art programs with a particular interest in supporting young and established galleries with strong emerging and mid-career artists. The Knight Cities Challenge is now open for ideas. The challenge seeks ideas that make the 26 communities where Knight invests more vibrant places to live and work. Applicants can win a share of up to $5 million for innovative projects that answer the question: What’s your best idea to make cities more successful?

Applications will be accepted until Nov. 3. Ideas should focus on one or all of three key drivers of city success: attracting and keeping talent, expanding economic opportunity, and creating a culture of civic engagement.

At Fairchild’s Howl-o-ween guests can take advantage of a great opportunity to enjoy the Garden with their dogs as they parade through Fairchild’s lush surroundings all the while showing off their Halloween costumes. Guests and their dog can hop on any of the trams, make it a doggie tram ride! Now that’s something to wag your tail about!

Howl-o-ween Rules:
To protect our plant collections, please keep your dogs on the path or on grassy areas. Dogs are not permitted to walk onto planting beds.
Dogs must be current on all vaccinations and have a current rabies tag attached to their collar.
Dogs must be leashed at all times and under the control of their handlers. Do not unleash your dog at any time.
Dog handlers are required to clean-up after their dogs. Dog handlers must use “doggie bags” and dispose of them in the designated receptacles.
Aggressive dogs are not permitted in the garden. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden reserves the right to refuse entry to, or remove, any dog thought to be dangerous to visitors or other dogs.
Dogs in heat are prohibited from entering the garden.
Most importantly, we ask that you use good judgment on all matters concerning your dog. This will ensure an enjoyable and safe visit for you and your best pal.

The Common Field Convening is an itinerant annual gathering created by and for the field of visual artists’ organizations. These organizations support artists and foster experimental projects that are responsive to and embedded in the places and communities in which they live and work.

This years convening in Miami FL investigates the contexts and conditions of experimental arts organizing in a time of accelerated capitalism. The convening is organized in collaborating partnership by Miami’s BFI (Bas Fisher Invitational), Cannonball, Dimensions Variable, and Locust Projects, an alliance of local Miami organizers and a national Common Field team.

The 2016 program includes panels, breakouts, data blitzes, workshops, events, tours, and celebrations throughout the city. This year’s program includes a variety of formats for intimate conversation, peer-to-peer exchange and cross-pollination around both practical and value driven issues. It also provides forums for Common Field members to connect and strategize trajectories for the year ahead.

The 2016 Convening brings together 350+ local and national organizers to explore arts organizing in a time of accelerated capitalism.

While well-known for the hyperluxury commercial market fueled by Art Basel, Miami is also home to a robust network of artist and cultural organizations devoted to critical practice and experimental production. The 2016 Common Field Convening will connect national arts organizers and locals from Miami’s artist-run spaces and centers, alternative spaces, and independent artists’ projects at the Little Haiti Cultural Center.

This year’s Convening focuses on how artist-run and artist-centered organizations survive and sustain in our current times, which requires new practices for adjusting to rapid shifts in technological, environmental, economic, social and political forces. The four day program includes panels, breakout sessions, workshops, tours and local arts events.

Thursday’s Opening Ceremony includes a performance by Dream Defenders and a keynote by Edouard Duval-Carrié. Sessions on Friday and Saturday are anchored by 4 central panels each followed by a series of breakouts and talks featuring a total of 120 presenters sharing ideas and expertise in an additonal 20 breakouts, 4 lightning talks and 4 workshops. Central themes include Art Making Under Accelerated Capitalism, Transitions: Evolving Organization Models, Gentrification + Sustaining Neighborhoods, and Critical Programs/Critical Ideas.

Evening festivities and events at Fountainhead and Diaspora Vibe/DVCAI After Party bring the best of the Miami scene forward. Commissioned projects, screenings and performances feature local artists and collectives including Borscht Corp, Books Are Nice, Loni Johnson + Hattie Mae Williams, DJ Mack of Rhythm Foundation, Jillian Mayer, Miami Music Club With Ana Mendez, and Serge Toussaint.

Tickets include breakfast, lunch and Saturday dinner highlighting Miami’s rich culinary heritage.

Common Field is a national network of artists organizations that launched officially at the Fall 2015 Common Field Convening (aka Hand-in-Glove) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Four hundred and thirty self-nominating members from 40 states include artist-run and non-profit art spaces, publications, digital exhibition venues, festivals, residencies, collectives and collaborative organizers, curators, artists, and administrators working in a variety of mediums. Common Field creates visibility and viability for the field of artist organizations through connection, advocacy, research, and resources. The Convening provides an important outlet for national members to collectively plot futures for Common Field — brainstorming research trajectories, resource exchange channels, and advocacy strategies for the second official year of the organization.

Lead Miami partners include Bas Fisher Invitational (BFI), a 501c3 artist run space dedicated to creativity, experimentation, and discourse in contemporary art; Cannonball, a non-profit, 501c3, arts organization dedicated to supporting artists, innovative forms of cultural production, and education to advance critical discourse and understanding of contemporary art practice; Dimensions Variable (DV) an exhibition space based in Miami and committed to the presentation and support of contemporary art; and Locust Projects is not for profit exhibition space dedicated to providing contemporary visual artists the freedom to experiment with new ideas without the pressures of gallery sales or limitations of conventional exhibition spaces. The convening has inspired the growing Miami Arts Alliance, a group of 60+ local organizations who have provided insight and support for the initiative.

Organization Celebrates 61 years of supporting Opera in South Florida

The Young Patronesses of the Opera, one of Miami’s oldest arts organizations, is celebrating its 61st year, and will host a dazzling night of dinner and dancing at its “An Aria to America” Gala at the Riviera Country Club in Coral Gables on Saturday November 5, 2016. Attendees will enjoy a cocktail hour that includes a silent auction and entertainment, followed by dinner and dancing to the sounds of the Drew T Band. Master of Ceremonies for this historic event will be one of Florida Grand Opera’s leading opera experts, Justin Moss. Marianne Kircher & Paula Barrera Scheer are serving as this year’s Gala Chairs.

Founded in 1955, YPO is a volunteer group of 100 dedicated women who advocate for music and opera education to children in South Florida. Proceeds raised at “An Aria to America” will fund music and opera educational programs. Every year, YPO presents a workshop for more than 500 Girl Scouts, and a professional development workshop on opera in the classroom for Miami-Dade and Broward County teachers. YPO also brings professional children’s opera performances to more than 30,000 elementary students annually. In addition, YPO also presents a national voice competition for aspiring young opera singers.

The media gathered in the rooftop of the Dream Hotel where hosted by legendary Chef Ralph Pagano, the Chefs posed for the cameras and challenged each other in a fun and jovial atmosphere. Everyone had a great time!

The Little Lighthouse Foundation hosts its seventh (7th) Annual Halloween charity event, Nightmare on the Beach: Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) (“NOTB2016”), on Saturday night, October 29, 2016 at South Beach’s Lummus Park.
NOTB2016, South Florida’s premier Halloween charity event, will offer guests a unique outdoor nightclub experience where guests will join the dead, who are awakened from their eternal sleep to share the celebrations while raising money for South Florida children. Exhibition Preview and Reception with the Artist

Dormiveglia features large-scale oil paintings conceived in 1998 and other works by Francesco Clemente, a leading figure of the Neo-Expressionist movement. The Marlins today announced the memorial services for José Fernández. A public viewing will take place Wednesday, September 28th, at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church. Guests can pay their respects at the church anytime between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Media will have access inside the church for a 10-minute period, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Media is asked to park along SW 32nd Street.

Guests will also have the opportunity earlier in the day to gather on the West Plaza of Marlins Park at 2 p.m. The funeral motorcade will then depart from Marlins Park at 2:16 p.m. Fans will have complimentary access to park in a surface lot on the West side of the ballpark.

On Thursday, September 29th, a mass for José Fernández will be celebrated and attended by the Fernández family, Marlins players, coaches and front office personnel. This is not open to the public.

In 1979 Diana Gonzalez, a young Cuban-American TV reporter, traveled to Cuba with her reporter’s notebook, a cameraman and a sheaf of travel documents and reported on life in Cuba – for visitors and for Cubans. In her reports, aired on Miami’s WTVJ-4, Gonzalez found out what it was like to stay at the Hotel Nacional, shop in a Communist capitol, dine in Havana’s finest restaurant while Cubans endured food shortages, and captured Cuban youth culture, from record stores and teen hangouts to the Cuban version of “American Bandstand.”

In “Ticket To Havana: Reporting In Cuba in the 1970s,” Emmy Award-winning television reporter Diana Gonzalez will recount her 1979 reporting trip to Cuba, screening some of the stories she covered there and talking about reporting in authoritarian Cuba during a thaw in U.S. – Cuba relations just six months before the Mariel Boatlift dramatically changed the relationship between the United States and Cuba.

Ellis is a well-known American musician who was an essential part of James Brown’s band in 1960s and its musical director. A student of Sonny Rollins, he is a saxophonist, arranger and composer. Music, particularly jazz, is his passion. In 1965, he started working with James Brown and became a part of some hit projects like “Cold Sweat”, “Mother Popcorn”, “Lickin’ Stick,” and “The Chicken” in a short period of 4 years. Subsequently he worked with artists like George Benson, Hank Crawford, Esther Phillips, and David Liebman. He later worked with Van Morrison’s band as arranger and music director and fully deserves the credit for major hits of that time. His song with James Brown, “Say It Loud: I’m Black and I’m Proud”, is a source of inspiration for all black people, and truly expresses their mind and heart. The song reflects his self-respect and truly reflects the political and social awakening that started during that time that led them to fight for their basic rights. With rumors vehemently circulating the industry, it would be well advised for Ladies to grab their dirndl dresses and for men to pull on their Lederhosen as the Miami Rooftop is hosting their very first Oktoberfest.

Bulks of steins have been seen being carried through Pawn Broker’s back door in anticipation of the rooftop’s latest festivities, and it has been revealed that after many late lunches and evening drinks with Miami’s finest bacon connoisseurs, the Miami Smokers & PB Station’s Chef Guillermo Concha, Chef Jose Mendin is very much prepared to host the greatest party the Miami Rooftop has seen to date. And that’s saying a lot, as previous parties have gone down in the books.

With a reputable liquor and cocktail menu, Pawn Broker are said to give a gracious nod to the alcoholic wonders Bavarian history has produced, with a refined list of Deutschland beers and other nation’s glorious ales and lagers. It’s also alleged that the Miami Rooftop will be embracing their celebrated Pawn Broker cocktails with a slight twist to the regular menu, beer being the supplementary ingredient to a collection of novel Oktoberfest cocktails.

Thursdays are known for the rooftop’s resident DJ Vinyl Night and so there is a high possibility of one or two beer spillages from all the excitement. And as Bavarian folk festivals go, they are known to be anything but tame, of which with Pawn Brokers reputation, the bar is sure to live up to it.

The Marker Waterfront Resort located in the southernmost city of Key West will be hosting its first ever pin-up girl contest, in partnership with M.I.A. Beer Company and Southernmost Tattoo. Guests and locals can enter to strut their best 1950’s-inspired looks on Saturday, October 1 at the Old Town Key West property.

Judges for the contest will be picked at random from a $5 raffle. First, second and third place pin-up girls will receive a prize pack including gift certificates to Southernmost Tattoo, local Key West vintage clothing stores and other prizes to make their pin-up girl dreams come to life.

The contest will take place at the Marker Resort’s poolside area starting at 5 p.m. M.I.A. Beer Company will host a tap takeover for the event featuring some of their fan favorite brews including Miami Weiss, Tourist Trappe, Snowbird and Moo over Miami.

As an ode to Miami’s Cuban culture, the Marker will also be hosting a pig roast during the contest, complete with mojo-style roast pork with rice and beans for $15 per plate. To compliment the dishes, specialty cocktails featuring the M.I.A. brews will be available for $10.

The Marker will donate a portion of its event sales to the family fund for Piero Rodriguez – the late founder of M.I.A. Beer Company. Additionally, proceeds from the raffle will go to Sister Season, a Key West non for profit that provides help to those tourism-related industries who experience economic hardships.

Swerdlow Art Group, in collaboration with Osel Art Group, is pleased to announce its Fall 2016 exhibition: Migration of the Sign, featuring the works of Sergio Payares and Maximo Caminero. This marks the gallery’s second exhibition of the artists’ works. The opening reception will take place from 6-9p.m. on Friday, October 7th, 2016.

Migration of the Sign explores the dynamics of artistic productions and migration, questioning what migrates in a painting and what defines alterity during the process. This exhibition provides an opportunity to experience the interference and the fading of the sign through the blurring, changing and transferring of codes, leading to a new approach to image making in which the fluctuation of the imaginary transcends the pictorial space. Twenty works spanning the last decade of the artists’ practices will be presented to the public for the first time.

Migration of the Sign will run through November 18th, 2016, and is open to the public.

Stacy Conde, of Conde Contemporary, the gallery on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables with a concentration on narrative realism, photorealistic portraiture and surrealism, has partnered with the Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach for the launch of Technique Art Fair during Miami Art Week 2016.

The focus of Technique Art Fair is primarily representational art, by a body of international artists, represented by a host of world class galleries and dealers.

Technique Art Fair will celebrate the tangible, the relatable, and the emotional qualities which artists convey in works that require more technique than abstraction.

“…contemporary art is in many ways so entranced by the conceptual that the actual work and technique involved in creating art, have become secondary, tertiary even, to the obfuscated artist’s statement. Happily, I sense a seismic shift is underway”, says Stacy Conde.

She isn’t alone in predicting a return to representational work.

‘After MoMA PS1 opened its ‘Greater New York’ quinquennial last fall with a noticeable crop of talented young figurative artists, the website Artspace exulted: ‘The figure is back, baby!’ Four days later, during the Frieze Art Fair, in London, The New York Times trumpeted: ‘The Triumphant Return of Figurative Art.’ And in December, during Art Basel Miami Beach, the über-dealers Jeffrey Deitch and Larry Gagosian joined forces to put on a splashy, market-friendly show of figurative painting and sculpture. For 15 years, Arts for Learning, a Miami-based nonprofit advancing teaching and learning through the arts, has reached more than 117,000 underserved children and youth. Koubek Center Launches Free Bilingual Family Series
Monthly Activities En Español Kick Off with a ‘Dia De Los Muertos’ Celebration!

Miami Dade College’s Koubek Center, su casa de cultura, launches its new bilingual family series, Playtime: Días de las Familias, from Noon – 4 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 22, with a Día de Los Muertos celebration. This event is free and open to the public.

The series fills an important niche in Miami, as it provides parents an engaging (and free) way for their children to learn and practice Spanish. The fun and interactive family days will highlight the diverse arts, crafts, literary histories, and music and dance of the city’s many Hispanic cultures. Children will be invited to sing, dance, create and speak together en Español.

Playtime begins with a festive bang–a Dia de los Muertos celebration. With help from The Puppet Network, Ameyal Cultural Center, and the Mexican Cultural Institute in Miami, activities will include a puppet parade; thematic face painting and craft making (skull masks and papel picado: paper decorated with cut-outs); live Mexican folkloric music and dance performances and storytelling; an ofrenda (Day of the Dead altar) exhibit; a musical instrument petting zoo and more! Mexican food will be available for purchase.

The Playtime series continues on November 12 with Aventuras de Don Quixote (Adventures of Don Quixote).

The 2016-17 Season marks a new chapter in Koubek Center’s history–one in which the venue realizes its own programming. In addition to Playtime: Dias Familiares, Koubek Center’s signature series include Little Havana Social Club, concert/dance parties in the gardens and En Residencia, an artist-in-residency initiative aligning art with activism, artist with community.

The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) is launching its Fall season with the presentation of Rolando Peña: Black Gold. In this exhibition, Peña explores oil as a substance that has marked the destiny of of modern and contemporary life. Black Gold is “participatory art” and captures viewers in an immersive experience through dance, cinema, video, photography, installation, architecture and design.

Gulliver Academy is set to host its 7th Annual Make-a-Splash Event on Saturday, September 24, where sponsored student swimmers, ages 5 and up will attempt to swim 72 continuous laps, a mile. Each participant must be able to swim at least a 25-yard lap (one lap) on his or her own.

Make-a-Splash’s purpose is to raise awareness of Gulliver Schools and its programs. Proceeds from the event will support the Gulliver Annual Fund, benefitting the school’s Performing and Visual Arts programs as well as the Gulliver Athletic Fund. A portion of the funds will be donated to The Woody Foundation, which raises funds for the recovery of people with spinal chord injuries. Last year’s event raised more than $40,000 through the support of 170 participants.

In addition to the 72-lap swim challenge, Make-a-Splash activities will include a pool float relay, a tie-dye station, a dunk tank and bubble soccer. The event will also feature a covered tent area where students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff can visit booths from local restaurants and business and enjoy delicious treats and giveaways.

After an incredible season on June, 2016 and the participation at The International Young Dancers Festival in Indonesia, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida prepares its new 2017 season with amazing programs showcasing the very best of international ballet.

In celebration of the 125th anniversary of the master composer Sergei Prokofiev, the Art Ballet Theatre of Florida, presents excerpts from the acclaimed classical ballet pieces, Stone Flower, Cinderella, Romeo & Juliet, plus the world premiere of a piece inspired by Prokofiev’s first symphony, choreographed by Vladimir Issaev, Artistic Director of the company.

Cinderella, is Prokofiev’s most descriptive, melodious and beautiful composition. This ballet piece was first premiered by the Bolshoi Ballet in 1945 with choreography by Rostislav Zkharov. But this time south Floridians will have the privilege to experience of our talented Vladimir Issaev who promises create a short suite, alongside other great classical ballet pieces of the great Russian composer.

Stone Flower is Sergei Prokofiev’s eighth and last ballet, written between 1948 and 1953. It is based on the Russian Ural folk tale of the same name The Story of the Stone Flower by Pavel Bazhov and is also the last of the trilogy of ballets Prokofiev wrote in the Russian ballet tradition, a mixture of real-life scenes and fantastic dreams, of classical dance and folk choreography.

Arts Ballet Theatre’s production of the Stone Flower will feature choreography by Maestro Issaev. The story concerns the fate of the stone carver, Danila, who wishes to see the full power of the stone and show its beauty to the people. This classical piece shows a love story that showcases how this powerful feeling exceeds the adversities.

Issaev’s Stone Flower was commissioned by the Michiko Matsumoto Ballet in Japan, and its performance in 2011 received excellent reviews.

Also this program presents the ultimately love story of all times Romeo and Juliet, this piece composed by Prokofiev is based on the universal and remarkable play by Shakespeare. It is a romantic and dramatic tale of love between two youngsters coming from feuding families forced to hide their love and tragically ending.

Suites of the ballet music were heard in Moscow and the United States, but the full ballet premiered in the Mahen Theatre, Brno (then in Czechoslovakia, now in the Czech Republic), on December 30th 1938. The famous adagio of the balcony scene, with choreography of Lavrovsky will be an important scene presented by The Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. Mary Carmen Catoya and Daniel Sarabia principal dancers will be responsible for leading the main roles.

The program will also feature the collaboration of the distinguished guest choreographer Miao Zong with a beautiful ballet number named Bolero from the French composer Maurice Ravel. Originally composed as a ballet commissioned by Russian actress and dancer Ida Rubinstein, the piece, which premiered in 1928, is Ravel’s most famous musical composition.

Chinese native Miao Zong, have danced with Le Jeune Ballet de France, Ballet Nacional de Caracas, Boston Ballet and Ballet de l‘Opera du Rhin in France where he is currently assistant director. In 2004 he made his choreographic debut with Le Chant de Dieu, a solo that he danced at Boston Ballet and then was invited by Mr. Peter Martins to create a new piece “Entre nous” for the School of American Ballet in New York. And now The Arts Ballet Theater of Florida is privileged to have him as a collaborator.

It is a hybrid gym that offers personal training, bootcamps, athletic performance and power-weightlifitng through BTE Methods. For decades, artist Erika King has crafted colorful collages for organizations, events, and Fortune 500 companies across the globe. Now, she brings a unique collection titled “Angels & Icons” to Books & Books in Coral Gables. From October 7 to October 28, viewers will get to experience the multimedia exhibition – which combines elements of iconic images, Chinese characters, and foreign currency – evoking feelings of harmony and chaos alike.

Adelante and Coca-Cola unite with People en Español’s “25 Most Influential Women” platform, which honors the accomplishments of Latinas in the U.S., to host a day of empowerment and business skills training. The event is free of charge. Nely Galan will lead a session in the afternoon for local high school students, college students and women from the community.

the Grand Opening on Saturday, September 24th of the Miami Beach Mini-Med Spa in Dadeland Mall. This is the second mini-med spa opening this year for Dr. Leonard Tachmes. Doors open at 10AM and guests will be treated to one-time –only specially priced mini-facials, injectables, skin treatment packages and body sculpting & contouring packages as well as 10% off all products. Lite bites and refreshing drinks will be served as well as each guest will leave with an exclusive gift bag packed with goodies. The 2,500 square foot “mini medspa” will begin taking appointments and walk-ins starting in September 2016. The new space will feature five luxury treatment rooms, a modern and relaxing reception area and private doctor’s office for consultations. The extensive treatment menu will feature facials, peels, laser hair removal, non-invasive body contouring, injectables and fillers including Botox, Juvederm, Voluma and Restylane Silk. Dr. Tachmes and his associates will also be conducting Aesthetic Surgery Consultations at the Medspa.
