Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation Named as Charity of Choice for the Event

Salon Allure, a four-day boutique lifestyle show featuring the most exclusive brands in swim and resort wear from around the world, announced today that it will host Miami Swim Week’s first-ever luxury sample sale. Returning to W South Beach Hotel & Residences for its third year, Salon Allure will be held from July 21-24 with the Designer Sample Sale taking place for two days only on July 21 and 22 in the hotel’s Great Room. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the show’s charity of choice: Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Salon Allure offers a comprehensive look at the flourishing swimwear industry, one of the fastest growing segments of the apparel market, while providing attendees and participants the opportunity to experience the resort lifestyle in each component of the show. The show’s unique Designer Sample Sale will give the consumer public a rare opportunity to participate in Miami Swim Week, which has previously only been open to members of the industry such as buyers and press. Attendees will have access to swim and resort wear items from top global designers at discounts of 50-60% off their regular retail price. Guests will also enjoy complimentary cocktails and the chance to support Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation with each purchase.

Chaired by Norma Jean Abraham, Celebrity Co-chairs Tracy Wilson Mourning and Lisa Pliner, and style blogger Ginger Harris of Electric Blogarella, the DESIGNER SAMPLE SALE offers the consumer public a rare opportunity to participate in Swim Week, which has typically only been open to members of the industry such as buyers and press. Attendees will have access to the same luxury swim and resort wear worn by Hollywood A-listers, from Fergie to Rihanna, all at discounts of up to 50 percent off. Guests will also enjoy complimentary cocktails, DJ performances, and the chance to support Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation with each purchase.

Several of the brands participating in this first annual sale include Loomstate 321, Koza, Charlie by Matthew Zink, Wanderlust Swimwear, Kikidoll, MIKOH SWIMWEAR and Beauty and the Beach, among many others.

“We are thrilled to bring this dynamic consumer component to Miami Swim Week with our First Annual Designer Sample Sale by Salon Allure,” says Rick Fatzinger, co-founder of Salon Allure. “We are equally excited to have Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation as the beneficiary of this event and we invite the community to come and support this very worthy cause.”

“We are incredibly grateful to Salon Allure for selecting Miami Children’s Hospital as its Charity of Choice and demonstrating that children’s healthcare is a cause that deserves resources and attention from our business and community leaders,” said Lucy Morillo-Agnetti, President & CEO, Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation. “This event will greatly benefit the children and families that rely on Miami Children’s Hospital for superior pediatric healthcare.”

Salon Allure’s tradeshow component takes place daily from 9am to 6pm and will feature more than 40 industry-leading brands in private ocean view showrooms on two floors of the hotel. Some of this year’s notable brands include La Perla, Miguelina, Mara Hoffman, Marysia, Bcbgmaxazria, Anna & Boy, Acacia Swimwear, Lisa Curran, Martha Rey, and Mikoh Swimwear, among many others.

In addition to the Sample Sale, another new program at Salon Allure’s 2012 show is “Style Works”, a resort style accessories exhibit featuring handbags, sunglasses, shoes, and jewelry. Housed in a large oceanfront suite on the showroom floor, Style Works offers an ideal environment for buyers, media and local socialites to shop and mingle. A private cocktail reception, which will also benefit Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation, will be held on July 21 and will feature an original collection of auction items created by Salon Allure designers.

Fashion Fights Heart Disease In Style

(Miami, Florida) – The American Heart Association sure knows how to put on a fight against heart disease, and during the month of February it did it in style.  Miami International Mall was home to the Go Red event which offered a unique spring fashion show with vibrant designs from Express and Francesca’s Collections among other designers.  Natalia Zea of CBS4 Miami led the event as Mistress of Ceremonies. Go Red is the American Heart Association social initiative dedicated in creating awareness of the risks and threats of heart disease among women.  The movement brings energetic and passionate women together to take action in promoting healthier and active lifestyles.  The organization also recently celebrated over four decades of success.  The 44th Annual Miami Heart & Stroke Ball took place during early March at the Four Seasons Hotel in Miami.  The event brought in over $400k to fund research initiatives and other special programs. But the battle against heart disease did not, and does not, end there.  A couple of days after the Heart & Stroke Ball, over 8,000 participants joined in at the Annual Broward Heart Walk in Fort Lauderdale.  The walk brought in corporate sponsors and individuals fighting together to raise their goal of over $700k.  Proceeds from this walk will help fund medical research and educational programs for the community.  You may also want to SAVE THE DATE! Wednesday, April 4th is National Walking Day, if you want to find out more about what the American Heart Association has in store for you, visit www.heart.org. ■

Lights, Camera, Fashion! Miami Beach International Fashion Week has officially ended this past Saturday March 24th, with the electrifying Miami Moda & Music Awards. Hosted by celebrity radio and television personalities Orlando Leon and Ileana Garcia, the evening’s festivities featured music from Supermodel Dasha Protsenko and Spain’s hottest vocal group D’Nash as well as a fashion show from celebrity designer Nicolas Felizola and a special presentation by Ema Savahl Couture.

Featuring eminent designers, celebrities, and musicians from nearly every continent, Miami Beach International Fashion Week marked an exciting addition to the glamorous affair when it welcomed Superstar Dionne Warwick. An idol in the music industry for over four decades, Mrs. Warwick hosted a media seminar for students and designers in which she discussed her life, her style, and advise how to succeed in your chosen passion. Aside from Living Legend Ms. Dionne Warwick and her son, Grammy award winning record producer Damon Elliot, we were also joined by an array of celebrity stars: CSI Wes Ramsey, actor and producer Vincent de Paul and Soap Opera stars Adamari Lopez, Ezequiel Montalt, Liannet Borrero, just to name a few.

In addition to showcasing the world’s top emerging designers, Miami Beach International Fashion Week continued its groundbreaking format by offering delectable cuisine from around the world at their Culinary Style Café. This year, MBIFW’s Culinary Style Café, sponsored by Whole Foods Market, offered the creations of celebrity chef Adrianne Calvo, Chef Bernie Matz, Chef Steve Sabatino and Chef Jonathan Barnett. During each night of fashion week, The Culinary Style Café served a unique tasting menu created specifically for a country being showcased on the catwalk. Fashion VIPs, celebrities, buyers, and designers discussed the amazing designs they’ve seen throughout the shows while enjoying some of the best food South Florida has to offer.

Saturday marked the culmination of four days filed with celebrities, sold out shows and global media attendance, all coming together at the Miami Moda & Music Awards. This fabulous night began with a fantastic encore presentation by Miami based designer Ema Savahl featuring her “mold to the body” couture pieces. Award-winning designer Nicolas Felizola, who has dressed some of Hollywood and Latin America’s biggest stars, presented a selection of his Red Carpet gowns. Nicolas has a Haute Couture style that is totally new and always fresh. His creations recently earned him the “Zanetti Murano” Prize in Italy. This year, Nicolas was presented with the coveted Victoria Puig de Lange International Style Award.

As if the Hollywood red carpet gowns weren’t enough excitement, the energy skyrocketed when the evening’s live musical acts begun. In order to parallel the global stylings seen throughout the week, the MBIFW team brought in some of the hottest young music performers making waves around the world today. Supermodel and the face of Lancôme Russia Dasha Protsenko sang her new hit single “Prfct Girl”, and Spain’s hottest new vocal group, D’NASH also performed live. D’NASH is best known for representing Spain in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Helsinki. The group has found new fame for their cover of Ben E. King’s hit Stand By Me, which they released as a promotional single.

The true focus of the evening’s festivities, though, was to honor and announce the winners of the 2012 Miami Model & Music Awards are:
· Living Legend Award – Dionne Warwick
· Victoria Puig de Lange International Style Award – Nicolas Felizola, Venezuela/Miami

Miami Beach International Fashion Week 2012 3/21-24/12

Miami Beach International Fashion Week 2012
March 21st – 24th, 2012, 6:00p.m- 11:00pm
Miami Beach Conventional Center – Hall D
1700 Convention Center Dr # D
Miami Beach, FL
www.miamifashionweek.com

Miami is widely considered the axis between Europe and the Americas, with South Beach as its glamorous epicenter. The city is therefore the natural selection to host the country’s largest International and Hispanic fashion event, the 14th annual Miami Beach – International Fashion Week, set to take place March 21st-24th at the Miami Beach Convention Center. This year, the event is proud to welcome music legend and style icon Dionne Warwick who will share her expertise in and around the world of celebrity and fashion.

Miami Beach International Fashion Week (MBIFW) is the longest standing fashion event in Miami, and has received worldwide recognition and fame for discovering and showcasing the best fashion from around the world. Featuring eminent designers, celebrities, and musicians from nearly every continent, Miami Beach International Fashion Week promises to once again set the stage as the gateway to the world’s most innovative talents. 2012 will mark an exciting addition to the glamorous affair when it welcomes Superstar Dionne Warwick. An idol in the music industry for over four decades, Mrs. Warwick will host a media seminar for students and designers in which she will discuss her life, her style, and advise how to succeed in your chosen passion. Warwick was famously mentored about her own personal style by one of Hollywood’s all time greats, Marlene Dietrich.

MBIFW has secured a reputation for introducing American buyers and consumers to up-and-coming designers from around the world who have gone on to illustrious careers in the U.S. The event is often the first opportunity for fashion industry insiders to capture a glimpse of the designers they’ll soon feature in their own magazines, stores, and closets. “Over the years, discovering the world’s best emerging designers has been a wonderful and exciting experience. By creating the international platform through MBIFW that allows these designers to be seen by the entire world, we have been able to launch their careers to the next level,” explains MBIFW President Beth Sobol. “Many of our young designers, including Colombia’s Esteban Cortazar and Silvia Tcherassi, Peru’s Sitka Semsch, Chile’s Ruben Campos, Manish Arora and Sabyasachi Mukherjee from India, Furne One for Amato Couture in Dubai and Heather Jones from Trinidad & Tobago are just a few of today’s fashion industry stars who have emerged from our runways. As an invited guest, judge and speaker at many of the worlds emerging fashion events, we continually seek to discover the best of the best from every corner of the globe.”

This year’s slate of events, designers, and performers promises all of the excitement the fashion world has come to expect from this prestigious event. Highlights of the week’s line up include the Miami Style Showcase featuring Florida’s top designers including Viviana G for Petit Pois, Ema Savahl Couture and Kayce Armstrong of Art of Shade among others. The Prêt-A-Porter Designer showcase will feature the winner of Bolivia’s Mision Moda, Banja Luka Fashion Fair Designer Showcase featuring Marina Banovic, Liliana Majkic, and Davor Sladakovic from Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro, Latin Fashion Weeks Council Showcase with the best designers from throughout Latin America and more.

Additionally, for the first time in the U.S., Walla Al Alawi of the Kingdom of Bahrain, widely considered the trendsetter for the Gulf region, will grace the runway with her latest collection. Walla’s customers include numerous members of the Gulf’s royal families and her designs have already been picked up by Saks Fifth Avenue Bahrain. In addition to Mrs. Warwick, there will be celebrity appearances by Grammy Award winning music producer Damon Elliott and the Miami Moda & Music Awards will feature a showcase of Red Carpet gowns worn by some of Hollywood’s and Latin America’s biggest stars by designer Nicolas Felizola and a special performance by Supermodel and the face of Lancôme Russia, Dasha, performing her new hit, “ The Prfct Girl.”

MBIFW is considered the fifth largest and most important fashion event on the world’s fashion calendar. Sobol and her team spend the year scouring the globe to uncover the most creative and elite designers from hundreds of countries and invite them to present their collections on the Miami Beach runway. In past years, designers have hailed from the Americas, Caribbean, Europe, Asia, The Middle East and Africa. In 2011 MBIFW hosted 55 designers from 32 countries, 650 international media outlets and received over 740 million global media impressions worldwide. 2012 will showcase even more designers from more countries than ever before and has secured media partners including Vanidades, Harper’s Bazaar en Español, Latina, Miami Modern Luxury and GLITZ TV Latin America.

Refinery29, the go-to place for inspiring, empowering and celebrating personal style will launch its Miami edition website and weekly newsletter during Art Basel 2011 for an exclusive evening presented by GUESS? and Motorola.

Renowned  DJ Mya Kwok.

A surprise exhibition from Not a Gallery artist Justin Belmont has created an Andy Warhol-inspired art garden, a new series of work developed specifically for Refinery29 entitled “Factory Fun House.” The installation will feature 10 large-scale circular art pieces throughout the lush landscaped courtyard. “Art Basel Miami is the apotheosis of what Andy was trying to accomplish – the meeting of art and commerce in the most fabulous, camera-ready setting,” says Belmont. Unlike the Warhol silkscreens, where bright pop color and optimism ruled, Belmont’s work is a little darker, as if the icons featured have grown wise with age.

The evening will be hosted by Refinery29’s Senior Editor Kristian Laliberte, Miami Editor Nikki Novo and Creative Director Piera Gelardi, DJ May Kwok, Founder of Not a Gallery, Justin Belmont, DJ Chelsea Leyland, Designer and Founder of Miansa Jewelry, Michael Saiger, President of Del Toro Shoes, Matthew Chevallard and fashion journalist Johnny Misheff invites Miami influencers to a jam-packed night of dancing, incredible fashion, photography and art including a Refinery29-flavored photo-booth to capture every style moment; beauty applications by Violent Lips for personalized, temporary lip tattoos; Miami-inspired photo studio with GUESS and the latest in Bluetooth technology with a unique product experience celebrating the launch of Motorola ELITE SLIVER. Guests will dance and mingle to the awesome tunes of renowned DJ May Kwok while savoring complimentary cocktails courtesy of SVEDKA vodka.

Refinery29 (www.refinery29.com) is the cornerstone of fashion, beauty, and shopping for a new generation. Combining daily local newsletter editions and a website that serves as a global style hub, Refinery29 offers the only 360-degree source for shopping, exclusive deals, trends, beauty news, local hot-spots, and at-home sneak-peeks of fashion’s finest. At Refinery29, great style isn’t just a one-way obsession—it’s a fast-changing world where readers talk, designers, brands, and shop-keepers engage, and great fashion influences everything.

Three Olives Vodka Presents eMERGE Trade Show 2011 10/15/11

eMERGE2
October 15, 12p-9p
Zadok Art Gallery
2534 North Miami Avenue
Miami, FL 33127
www.emergetradeshow.com

eMERGE is an innovative fashion trade show for upcoming and emerging brands, to showcase their collections to the best boutiques and retailers. Most conventional trade shows do not focus their attention on independent companies that are yearning for exposure in the fashion market. eMERGE is here to assist these brands in growing their business to become the next big “IT” FACTOR. Brands attending eMERGE are breaking barriers and aren’t afraid to take risks to be a recognizable force in the market, and therefore, they will….”ARISE AND CONQUER”

On October 15, various up-and-coming designers and retailers will showcase their collections through exhibition or runway presentation at the second annual eMERGE Trade show. A full day of events, from noon-to-nine at night, welcomes media, members of the fashion industry for buy and also local fashionistas and fashion bloggers to view fashions from designers across the United States and Canada. Held in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District at the Zadok Art Gallery, eMERGE2 brings together the future of fashion to third largest fashion capital in the United States.

Titled eMERGE2 for this year’s event, the producers of eMERGE, Sherreth Stewart and Raymond Sancristobal, collaborate yet again to encourage these young brands to “ARISE AND CONQUER.” The tradeshow “offers exhibitors cost effective pricing for their new brand and the opportunity to showcase their collections and learn to deal with retailers first hand.” Stewart continues, “[the show] is equally important in its exposure upon this particular demographic to the city of Miami and its diverse cultures.

This year’s event is star studded; from Maxim Model Red Carpet Host Aisha Thalia to South Florida’s DJ Sandman. The day of fashion, sponsored by Three Olives Vodka, Vita Coco, Pop chips, Best Buy, JQ Productions and MontagePR, will include designers of streetwear, swimwear, women’s ready-to-wear and men’s casual wear. Select exhibitors will display their brands from noon until five o’clock; while the runway event, headlined by Aluna Swimwear, lasts from six until nine.

A donation is requested at the door in lieu of general admission fees; proceeds of which each of the at minimum five dollars give by each attendant shall benefit both the American Cancer Society and Project K.I.T.E. Both causes are near and dear to the hearts of the show producers Sherreth and Ray. After seeing firsthand the pain and suffering her late mother experienced during her trials, battles and treatments of Cancer, Sherreth personally connects with victims afflicted and families affected by the diseases; it is one of her mission’s aside from producing eMERGE to aid and grow Cancer research. The second cause, Project K.I.T.E. is a philanthropic organization in which Raymond co-founded with Norlan Delgado in 2009 to insure that every child has the opportunity to succeed and achieve success. Through a series of programs and outreach activities, Raymond and Norlan provide positive experiences, healthy alternatives as well as resources necessary in the development of society’s future leaders.

For more information on eMERGE2 and a complete listing of participating exhibitors, boutiques and registered press is available on the event website at http://www.emergetradeshow.com.

More than 500 people are expected to attend the elegant soiree which begins with a VIP cocktail reception and silent auction as celebrity guests including, Adriana Barraza, Academy Award winning actress, and Adriana De Moura, one of the “Real Housewives of Miami”, grace the red carpet. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to Project Start Off Smart (SOS) and The EDGE Charitable Foundation. The EDGE Foundation advocates social responsibility for children around the world and is impacting more than 12,000 children and families—with its largest population in our own backyard—who are financially-challenged, victims of human trafficking and violence.

Tickets are $25 for general admission and $75 for VIP admission, which includes reserved seating, a luxurious gift bag, cocktail bar, valet parking and complimentary hors d’oeuvres. Mercedes Benz Fashion Week presents Diesel at Cabana Grande By Betty Alvarez

On July 14, Diesel, a fashion industry legend and a pioneer in the world of denim and casual wear kicked off his line at the Mercedes Benz Fashion week at the Cabana Grande area. This line always remained both outside and ahead of trends. Afterwards, guest enjoyed a special cocktail reception sponsored by Sky Vodka and The Raleigh.

Diesel thrives on change: it produces no less than 3,000 new products each season and each one derives from a process of enormous creative freedom.

The ONLY pageant system in the planet dedicated 100% to environmental & humanitarian efforts

Ladies from across the entire state gather for a weekend to compete for the FLORIDA titles that will take one of them to nationals representing our state. Winner also gets to implement her local environmental project across the state for 1 year.

Environmental beauty competition promotes leadership
State finals to be held in Miami

Miss Earth Florida 2011, a one of a kind annual event in Florida that combines beauty, leadership and the environment is scheduled for June 24 through 26 in Miami. Ladies between 14 and 26 from across the state will spend the weekend overcoming challenges that include two rounds of interviews, environment awareness competition, a swimsuit show and a gown parade in order to conquer the title that will take one of them to represent Florida at the national finals of Miss Earth.

The event is an official preliminary to the only pageant in the world dedicated 100 percent to environmental and humanitarian efforts. Miss Earth has over 80 countries participating in the world finals each year, including the United States.

A typical year in the reign of a Miss Earth Florida includes an average of 50 official appearances that include visits to schools, tree planting ceremonies, coastal and park clean ups, environmental conferences, waste collection, recycling education, speeches at fairs and festivals, fundraisers, visits to hospitals and educational workshops for children.

In fact, it is requirement of the program that each participant creates and develops a project in her community that will contribute to bring change and awareness towards an environmental and / or humanitarian cause. These participants represent their local communities at the state finals where one teen and one miss will be chosen as the state ambassadors. They then have the chance to develop their local projects into state wide initiatives.

The weekend of the 2011 state finals will include an educational session and tree planting ceremony at Biscayne Nature Center, a tribute to 2010 winners Kelly Saks and Brittney Ronda, environmental workshops, rehearsals, vendor lounge for green businesses, a VIP green carpet and the glamorous crowning ceremony June 26 at 8 p.m. at the Miami Convention Center’s Ashe Auditorium.

The crowning ceremony will be hosted by Patrick Nolan, Fox 4 Now news anchor.

The pageant is produced by Integral Beauty Productions and is sponsored by ecofriendly businesses including Eyes Wide Open, Organic Splendor Vegan Make Up, The Give Bag, ConColor Imports, Mar Boutique, Dear Earth apparel, Eco Chic Fashion by Meadow, SoBe Dentist, Shannon Saint Clair Jewelry, Jubilee Jewels, La Casa Hermosa and WowBrows Studio.
