Park Avenue Pianos and Tesla Motors Lincoln Road have teamed up to present an exciting evening celebrating the poignant juxtaposition of Tesla’s sleek, modern engineering, and “Golden Age” Steinway piano craftsmanship. Park Avenue Pianos will place a mint condition grand Steinway piano from its collection, most recently used and signed by Tony Bennett, in Tesla’s Lincoln Road showroom for this special performance. Guests will be able to take a thrilling ride in the award winning Model S.

An exclusive guest list of music lovers and Tesla VIPs will enjoy an enchanted evening of classical, Broadway and jazz selections by celebrated New York City-based musicians, mezzo-soprano Avery Amero, and concert pianist Sophia Munoz, a 2008 YoungArts winner; Serbian pianist Jelena Djukic, will travel from Serbia to perform music selections to honor Nikola Tesla’s heritage; and Florida International University residents from the Amernet Quartet will also perform.

When the great Argentinean tango master Astor Piazzolla died in 1992, there were few musicians keeping his music alive. But Argentine-born, Brooklyn-based bassist, bandleader, and producer Pablo Aslan has brought an extraordinary focus on tango’s relationship to jazz, and on Piazzolla’s ideas about jazz tango. Piazzolla in Brooklyn, the latest recording by Aslan, was inspired by Take Me Dancing, a 1959 jazz tango recording by Astor Piazzolla. Newly recorded in Buenos Aires with a group of musically bilingual Argentine players, Piazzolla in Brooklyn updates Takes Me Dancing into state-of-the-art jazz tango. Subsequently studying jazz guitar at the New England Conservatory of Music, Mofsky started Gold Dust Lounge as a way to explore and integrate a broad range of musical influences.

(Composer) William Elden Bolcom has received the Pulitzer Prize, the National Medal of Arts, two Grammy Awards, and was named 2007 Composer of the Year by Musical America. R WE WHO R WE mixes the free theft/collage style of Girl Talk with the raw noise of Merzbow. Philip White’s mixer feedback, controlled through a homemade rig of circuits and low-fi electronics, conjures the sound world of legendary experimental musician David Tudor, but becomes something entirely new when fused with the production aesthetics of pop pioneer Dr. Luke. Since the mid- 90’s she composes/performs experimental, interactive electro-acoustic music using her custom Max/MSP programming for live sound processing of voice and other instruments, and also interprets the work of Cage, Stockhausen and contemporary composers. With a large variety of projects with well regarded musicians in the US, Europe and India, she has received awards from NYFA, NYSCA, Franklin Furnace, American Composers Forum, Foundation for Contemporary Arts and American Music Center, and recorded several CDs, including “What is it Like to be a Bat?” a digital punk trio with Kitty Brazelton (on Tzadik).

The Deauville Hotel Jazz Club will re-open its doors on with a unique concert by three of the best contemporary Cuban singers and songwriters currently based in Madrid, who have been revitalizing the Cuban music scene in Spain for more than a decade: Yadam, Pavel Urkiza and Julio Fowler.
 
Yadam will bring his unique cutting-edge lyrics and electrifying energy to the local stage along with Pavel Urkiza, an exceptional guitarist and songwriter, whose music combines Afrocuban and New Age sensibilities with traditional Cuban rhythms and Jazz.  Joining them, and appearing for the first time in the U.S., will be the talented Julio Fowler, representing the new wave of Cuban singer/ songwriter whose music is an original mixture of identity & vanguard, an assembly of his Cuban roots with an infusion of international musical trends that complement it.
