Join world-renowned chef, restaurateur and TV host Tom Colicchio and Indulge Miami editor Evan Benn, Ambassador for the Evening, at Slow Food Miami’s “Snail of Approval” Tasting Party. Regarded as Miami’s “Freshest Night Out”, the 5th annual celebration will be held on Friday, April 29, from 7PM – 10PM at 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach. This year, the unforgettable evening under the stars is possible thanks to a partnership with Beachcraft and sponsorship by GREY GOOSE Vodka. The tasting party will unite over 30 of the city’s top chefs, and local growers and producers for a night of tasting and honoring Miami’s food scene.

The soirée will be perfectly situated at 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach with breathtaking views of the Atlantic. The first 50 tickets sold are priced at $85. After that, tickets will be $95 per person. Tickets at the door will cost $125. At noon on Sunday, April 17, 2016, Heart Harbor Rescue, a safe haven facility that aims to house, rehabilitate, and adopt out abandoned and abused animals, is hosting the main event of their March Madness Fun Run for Vets and Pets at America’s Backyard in Fort Lauderdale. Established as an anti-cruelty, anti-bullying not-for-profit, Heart Harbor Rescue partners with other rescue groups to provide seminars that allow children and adults the opportunity to interact with rescue animals in a way that fosters warmth and compassion.
Attendees will enjoy a day of live music, food vendors, craft artisans, silent auctions, and raffles. Tickets are $10 for entry; Poker Play is an additional $10 per hand, with prizes of upwards of $300 up for grabs. Beer and drink specials will be on offer. Seven bands are scheduled to perform including Big Whiskey & the Opium Kings, SOULICIDE, Spank the Band, Too Hot, Hired Gunz, CRuSH, and JADED, South Florida’s most popular Aerosmith tribute band.
The event will be marked by an all-day adoption special in which rescue animals from Animal Aid, Beyond Nine Cat Rescue, and Little Paws of Love will be available for adoption.
All proceeds benefit Paws for Veterans, Animal Aid Inc, and Beyond Nine Cat Rescue, as well as Heart Harbor Rescue’s mission to purchase a new facility, train a rescue dog for a PTSD Veteran, and aid in the cost of rescuing and rehabilitating animals.

Erick Morillo:
With his A-list celebrity chums, astronomical bank balance and palatial homes in Miami, Ibiza and soon Los Angeles, few people epitomize the ‘superstar DJ’ like Erick Morillo. The organizers of the IMS music conference in Ibiza certainly thought so, inviting Erick to give a talk entitled ‘Big Dog DJs: Fuck You I’m Famous’ earlier this year.
“People definitely know my name, but I’ve worked hard to get here,” Erick says. “It’s not like I think people should bow before me because I’m some big star.”
Although, with his Subliminal Sessions nights at Pacha having enjoyed their 13th year (making Morillo the White Isle’s longest-serving resident DJ in 2010) Ibiza is already conquered. With a resurgent Subliminal Records churning out floor fillers by the month, two new albums – one solo and one with Jose Nunez and Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero as The Dronez – in production and a live show in the works, Morillo is now redoubling his campaign to take America. Special guest speaker, author and ABCD Institute Co-Founder, John McKnight.

As a result of a national study of local neighborhood initiatives, John McKnight and his long-time colleague, Jody Kretzmann, created the Asset-Based Community Development strategy for community building. Together, they co-authored the basic guide to asset based community development, Building Communities from the Inside Out: A Path Toward Identifying and Mobilizing a Community’s Assets. The Florida International University Department of Architecture’s Eco Couture Recycling Fashion Show will launch its successful event for a third year in a row. The fashion show will feature a variety of outfits that are completely made from recycled materials. The event, which was created with the purpose of promoting sustainability through fashion, strives to educate and inspire the community about good recycling habits and an environmentally-friendly lifestyle. This year’s runway is expected to showcase more than 50 outfits, all of which will be reusable. All proceeds from this event go towards scholarships for students in the FIU Department of Architecture.

The Eco Couture Recycling Fashion Show is hosted by Event Founder, Artistic Director, and FIU Architecture alumna Amira Ajlouni ’14 and Event Partner, Artistic Director, and current Architecture graduate student Jennifer Luis. The Calendar raises awareness for Here’s Help, A Safe Haven for Newborns, Friends Forever Pet Rescue, and University of Miami Jackson Memorial Burn Center.

For the past 24 years, the South Florida Firefighters Calendar has been one of America’s top firefighter calendars. But more importantly, it has raised thousands of dollars for many of South Florida’s charitable causes.

As the calendar continues to grow, there are opportunities which require greater energy and effort. As a result, we are pleased to announce reunification with our presenting sponsor from prior years, One Beat CPR + AED, and a new operational plan effective August 26th, 2015. This new focus will allow the Calendar to achieve greater heights and have a bigger impact on our local communities.

Join the Environmental Coalition of Miami and the Beaches (ECOMB) for the upcoming 4th annual Miami and Beaches Environmental Film Festival.

This years event will be held April 14-19th, 2015 and will highlight its overarching theme climate change awareness. Showcasing a compelling array of films based on environmental issues of local and global concern, this year’s Festival also coincides with important milestones, namely the Centennial of Miami Beach and the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, which has been at the forefront of raising awareness globally about sustainable development and climate change.

In addition to screenings of feature length documentary films, fiction, short films, and animation, this year’s Festival will also include interactive workshops and complementary exhibits and other activities for people of all ages.

Winter Music Conference presents the official event to honor Barbara Tucker’s astonishing contribution to music during Miami Music Week. Barbara Tucker, topping Billboard Charts with #1 Club Hits including: “Precious Love,” “Respect,” “Love Vibration,” “Beautiful People,” “I Get Lifted,” “Jazz It Up,” and “Stay Together,” has been marked an international phenomenon.

Miami-Dade Reef Guard is an non-profit organization tasked with placing mooring buoys on the offshore coral reefs so that fisherman and SCUBA divers can safety tie up and enjoy the reef without dropping anchor.

Please join us to celebrate the launch of “Rum Reef” sponsored by Miami Rum Renaissance Festival! We will be pouring rum from Wicked Dolphin and Mako Vodka. Appetizers from Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza will be served. There will be live “country music with a slice of lime” by Tim Charron.

Brought to you by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in cooperation with Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization, Friends of the Underline, the Dutch Cycling Embassy, Bike305 and The Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade, ThinkBike 2015 features several presentations and workshops at HistoryMiami and the Downtown Miami-Dade County Public Library.

Led by an experienced team of Dutch urban planning and mobility experts, ThinkBike 2015 focuses on The Underline, the transformative 10-mile linear park and urban trail below Metrorail from the Miami River to Dadeland South, and how it can enhance connectivity, mobility, and biking safety for hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors.

The opening session on Monday, January 12th, kicks off with a public presentation of Dutch best practices for bike infrastructure, planning, and implementation and ends with a virtual bike ride along the M-Path (RSVP here). The closing session, Thursday, January 15th, from 1-3:30 PM, will feature the findings and recommendations for the Underline’s implementation (RSVP here).

Saturday night, my wife and I attended Love & Wine, a Rooftop Wine & Spirits, Gastronomic Affair on the roof of The Collection Building in Coral Gables. The event paired awesome local chefs and restaurants with some premium wines and spirits. Live music, cigars, awesome cars, models and a beautiful view also made for a nice night. Not even the mega wind could put a damper on the fun.

Come down to TSL Lounge at the Wynwood Art District and help celebrate Jose’s Hands’ five year anniversary. All proceeds will benefit Jose’s Hands Medical Mission Trips. Jose’s Hands is a non-profit organization first created in 2009. Since it’s inception, has been raising money for medical trips to support those in need in the Caribbean and in Latin America. Thanks to generous donations, the organization has been able to attend eight medical mission trips and served thousands of people with no cost medical care. The theme of the night will be Latin Night and black attire is requested. So come, have a few drinks, party while raising money for those in need.

The annual YPO Gala – now in its 59th year – is considered among Miami’s oldest and most prestigious black tie affairs. This elegant soiree, organized by Lisa Wheeler, President of YPO and Gala Chairs Laurel Auerbacher, Amal Kabbani, Patty Scerpella, Lori Thomas and Lise-Marie Wertanzl, will feature a silent auction, live entertainment, dancing, and a three-course meal to raise funds for YPO’s music education programs.

The Gatsby-style party will evoke the excitement of the era and many spirited YPO members and guests will forego traditional ball gowns and black-tie for imaginative designs which reflect the era of flappers, starlets, gangsters and aristocrats. During a cocktail hour guests will enjoy an inspired silent auction, followed by dinner, dancing to the 8-piece band, Manhattan Music, and entertainment by the internationally-acclaimed singers Poperazzi.

Founded almost 60 years ago in 1955, YPO is a volunteer group of 100 dedicated women who advocate for music and opera education to children in South Florida. Proceeds raised at Hat Spats and Pearls will be used to fund 100% of YPO’s music and opera educational programs. Every year, YPO presents a workshop for more than 500 Girl Scouts, and a professional development Teacher Workshop on opera in the classroom for Miami-Dade and Broward County teachers. YPO also brings professional children’s opera performances to more than 30,000 elementary students annually. This year, YPO will expand its musical outreach program to children who are hospitalized. In addition, YPO also presents a national voice competition for aspiring young opera singers. This year it is slated for April 16-18 at the colony Theatre on Miami Beach.

Pomona College, a nationally renowned liberal arts college celebrated its expanded partnership with The Posse Foundation to provide 10 full-tuition scholarships to Miami-area high school seniors who are interested in STEM studies and careers. A cocktail reception was held at Tuyo restaurant located on the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus which was attended by educational leaders in Miami Dade County.

“We are happy to be partnering with The Posse Foundation in Miami for the first time. We know this is going to be a successful program for the students selected. This model provides not only placing them in supportive, multicultural teams, but also offers them small class sizes and easy access to faculty, which results in more opportunities for research and mentorship,” said David Oxtoby, president of Pomona College.

Pomona College began its partnership with the Posse Foundation in 2004 and has graduated five groups of Posse students with a nearly 100 percent four-year graduation rate. Deborah Bial, president of Posse Foundation stated, “The Posse Foundation appreciates Pomona College and their commitment to diversity in education they are true institutional heroes. Collectively, they send a clear message giving these young men and women the opportunity to become well educated leaders of tomorrow.

The Greater Miami Convention & Visitor’s Bureau (GMCVB) kicks-off its annual Miami Attractions Month and celebrates the grand opening of the new Coral Gables Visitor Center with a free and open-to-the-public soiree on Thursday, October 2, 2014.

An Exquisite Evening of Extraordinary People, Places and Possibilities will feature a fabulous “blue carpet” that will span from inside the museum and onto its plaza.
