Stand up comedians and graff writers have a lot in common – both hustling nonstop to make their visions a reality. This coming Sunday at Yo Space Gallery & Studios we’re going to prove it by throwing these two cultures a shindig where these artforms can thrive.
This innovative new night will welcome graffiti writers and street artists to swap slaps and sketchbooks (think: Writer’s Bench http://www.at149st.com/bench.html) and add in an open mic starting midway into the night, including comedy, spoken word, music and more.
Hosted by comics Regi Desjardins and Abe Perez, there’ll be plenty going on to keep you entertained while you get down in a sketchbook or trade some stickers with fellow collectors.
We’ll have refreshments, and as always ping pong table and N64 to fill in the gaps and everything else you need for a laid back good time.

It’s time to bring a little culture to Downtown Miami! CULTRA is a roving Open Mic held in a Downtown Miami park every third-Thursday from January to May. Produced in collaboration with Emerge Miami, CULTRA is an opportunity for local performers in all disciplines to showcase their skills for fellow Miamians in some of the most scenic public spaces this town has to offer. This month, we are taking CULTRA to the water thanks to the folks from Miami Science Barge!

The Imperial joins us as the host and curator this time around. Photographer Rod Deal and artist Marcus Blake have been hosting nights of free expression for nearly a decade at prominent Miami venues like the Vagabond and the Stage. We’ll start with the usual 90 minutes of open mic time from 7:30 – 9pm followed by a feature performer.

We are psyched to have Words And Wine Open Mic as co-producers for the second edition! Words and Wine have been producing a weekly, Wednesday-night open mic for over six years. Expect a diverse lineup and a collection of local vendors for CULTRA’s debut in Museum Park! We’ll have the usual 90 minutes of open mic time from 7:30 – 9pm followed by a feature set from Gypsy Latin jammers TAMBOKA.

Interested in performing? Pre-register with our online form! It’s simple and you’ll have a good chance of getting a spot. Electricity is limited at Museum Park. Musicians should plan to play acoustic or rely on very little amplification. Day-of signup will close at 8pm.

CULTRA brings a little more culture to downtown in the first-ever roving, outdoor open mic in Miami starting on Thursday, January 19, 2017.

A collaborative event series produced by Buskerfest Miami and Emerge Miami, CULTRA is an opportunity for local performers in all disciplines to showcase their skills for fellow Miamians in some of the most scenic public spaces Downtown Miami has to offer. On the third-Thursday of each month, January to May 2017, CULTRA will be held in one of the Downtown Miami parks in an effort to put the “public” back in public spaces and foster connections between attendees and our precious bayfront.

The event begins with ninety minutes of open stage time followed by a feature performance by a well-known local group. Each edition of CULTRA will be a collaboration with one of Miami’s other prominent, long-running open mics and include a guest host. Artistic Vibes, who produces one of Miami’s longest-running weekly open mics, will host the inaugural CULTRA event on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Tina Hills Pavilion in Bayfront Park. Future dates of CULTRA are February 16, March 16, April 20 and May 18.

Philadelphia Plowden is one of the most sound actors/comedians working today. His observations & revelations about the human condition, mixed with stories from his own life, take an audience on a 200mph trip that could stop at any point along the journey. Philly puts it all on the line, because he always works in the moment.

His ability to relate to people from different walks of life has made him a favorite in the cruise ship industry, comedy clubs, & corporate events. He’s opened for stars like the late Robert Palmer, Richard Jeni, & Julio Iglesias on the West coast leg of his 2003 world tour. Stories about his mother, kids & marriage has made him a favorite wherever he plays. With TV appearances in commercials & as a standup or a dramatic & comedic actor, Philadelphia is the “Full Package of Entertainment”!

Most women love tall, funny guys, and standing at 6’6″ Devin Siebold doesn’t disappoint. However, after working the past several years as a middle school teacher, don’t just expect him to pick up the check on any date. It is hard to deny Devin’s stage presence, when he is the size of the stage. He connects well with all audiences mainly because he can reach 7 rows back and physically grab any audience member not laughing at his jokes. The jokes center around his extensive past as a playboy, educator, and his ability to balance the two without going to jail in the process.

With credits to his name including Sirius XM, Pandora, writing for Uproxx, Nextround, and being selected as a finalist in Comedy Central’s Up Next, Improv Future Features, Side Splitters Opportunity Knox Winner and winning dozens of local comedy competitions, it is clear to see that Devin is on the right track to moving out of his van and into a slightly larger, newer-smelling van.
