Life Is Art kicks the 2015 Art/Work Connections Seminar series off with an Opportunity for Artists to Meet Representatives from Knight Foundation, Miami Foundation and Department of Cultural Affairs
Hashtag #ArtWorkCon
Subject: Meet the Grantmakers
Panelists:
Victoria Fear, Programs Associate, Miami Foundation
Tatiana Hernandez, Program Officer / Arts, Knight Foundation
Deborah J. Margol, Deputy Director, Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs
Moderator: Joshua Kingston, Independent Grant Writer, Curator, Miami Mixer
Following the outstanding response to our first grants seminar back in July of 2014, we are following up with an exciting opportunity to meet representatives from three of the main funders in Miami, the Miami Foundation, the Knight Foundation and the Department of Cultural Affairs. This is a rare chance to hear directly from the grantmakers and ask them all your questions.
Did you know that individual artists can receive grants without being a charity organization? That is right, there are grants out there available to artists directly. Come and learn what the grantmakers are looking for and how best to approach them with proposals. Approaching foundations often seems overwhelming and intimidating, but grants are actually managed by people who want to help you do great things for the community. We are going to introduce you to the real people who really work at these institutions so that next time you go to apply, you will have a friend on the inside.

Check out Hundred Waters on their North American Spring Tour!
The quartet’s members Nicole Miglis, Trayer Tryon, Paul Giese & Zach Tetreault played together in various formations as far back as middle school, but it took until adulthood and 2012 for them to become Hundred Waters. Living under one roof meant the band had a communal mentality, yet each maintained their own distinct projects, borrowing here and there from each other. It was in interpreting a friends’ music together that they discovered the power of their combination, and they quickly fell to work reorienting their lives around an album. The music they found was a beautiful blend of contradictions, mournful yet colorful, introverted yet aware, and brought the tradition of songwriting to a strange future. Initially released by their local label Elestial Sound, their self-titled debut soon became seen as the sound of Florida, drawing loose comparisons to Stereolab, Four Tet, and Bjork. Soon it attracted the most unlikely of label bosses, Skrillex, who signed the band to his OWSLA label that same year and gave the album a full-scale release, with remixes by Araab Muzik, Star Slinger, and TokiMonsta. Since then the band has taken its live show around the world, touring with artists such as Grimes, Julia Holter, Alt-J & the XX.

In May 2010, Peter Hook, legendary bassist of both Joy Division and later New Order, decided to honour the outstanding work of his first band and the undoubted genius of the late Ian Curtis by giving people the opportunity to hear both of Joy Division’s masterpiece albums, ‘Unknown Pleasures’ and ‘Closer’, live and in their entireties. Backed by his new band The Light, Hooky first played ‘Unknown Pleasures’ at the Factory club in Manchester on May 18th & 19th 2010 in order to celebrate the life of Ian – one stand alone sold out night quickly became two, and due to phenomenal worldwide demand, Hooky then began taking the show on the road with headline gigs & major festival appearances throughout Europe, a full tour of Australia & New Zealand as well as the band’s first tour of the United States in December which culminated in Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell appearing live with the lads in Los Angeles to sing ‘Transmission’.

In keeping with FFCR’s mission and with Maxine’s tradition of giving back, guests are encouraged to bring new or gently used handbags or shoes, for Dress for Success.
ABOUT
Florida Foster Care Review promotes the safety, well-being and long-term success of abused and neglected children through volunteer-driven case reviews and system level advocacy. Florida Foster Care Review envisions a child welfare system that protects, heals and supports success for children, youth and young adults and their families.
To achieve its mission, Florida Foster Care Review (FFCR) recruits, trains and supervises volunteers who participate in monthly Citizen Review Panels that review cases of youth in foster care to ensure they are safe and receiving needed services. The panels submit recommendations to the Juvenile Dependency Court, which then become binding judicial orders. Together with child welfare professionals, FFCR also works to ensure that children and youth leaving the foster care system have someone they can call family. Through all its programs, FFCR not only promotes positive results at the individual level, but also tracks and analyzes outcomes in order to advocate for system changes that improve children’s lives.

Freedom Tower – MDC
600 Biscayne Blvd,
Miami, Florida 33132

Cost: $50.00
The Memoir is one of the most popular and exciting genres in contemporary literature. But how does one begin to translate personal experience and shape it into a work of art that is accessible to readers whose experiences and concerns may be vastly different from our own? How can we begin to harness our autobiographical impulses and create stories that rival the best fiction and theater? How does one begin to shape the often amorphous sprawl of memory and contain it in the unified and emotionally stirring form we call a memoir? Given the fallibility of memory, why endeavor to write a memoir rather than a work of fiction? What are the emotional consequences and responsibilities of writing about people we know or have known? Is it permissible for the non-fiction writer to exaggerate, or even lie? This class will be a forum in which to discuss these and other pertinent questions.

BBBS is a nonprofit organization supporting at-risk children through adult mentor relationships.
National Mentoring Month was created in 2002 by the Harvard School of Public Health and MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, to focus national attention on the need for mentors, as well as how individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, faith communities and nonprofits can work together to increase the number of mentors to help ensure positive outcomes for youths.
During the 7:30 pm games at the AmericanAirlines Arena on January 20, 23, and 27, tables will be set up at the following locations to inform potential volunteers of the various programming alternatives available:
• January 20 (Oklahoma City Thunder): Section 115 (Inner Wall)

He established himself as one of the world’s preeminent wizards behind the decks, having played the world’s biggest stages alongside the biggest names in dance music.
His sets are equally uplifting, not only technically but also as a showman, leaving unforgettable experiences for the witnesses. One of the reasons why the Rolling Stone voted Boys Noize amongst the Top10 `DJs who rule the earth` in 2012.
As a recording artist and producer, Ridha has created his own sound, and pioneered his own brand, amassing a formidable body of work in the process.
He has released three albums (2007’s Oi Oi Oi , 2009’s Power and 2012´s Out Of The Black) and countless singles as Boys Noize, as well as doing profoundly influential work as a remixer and producer for everyone from Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, Feist, David Lynch to Jarvis Cocker, Santigold, Scissor Sisters and Chilly Gonzales.
He has collaborated with Snoop Dogg, genius film maker Mr. Oizo (on a project called Handbraekes), Erol Alkan, and most recently Skrillex (under the moniker of Dog Blood) and won Beatport’s ‘Best Electronic Act’ 3 years in a row.
Ridha is also the heart of Boysnoize Records, the label that he started back in 2005. Founded originally as a means to get his own music out into the world, Boysnoize Rec.—and it’s sub-label, BNR Trax—is now home to more than a dozen artists (including up-and-comers like 18-year old SCNTST, Le1f, Spank Rock, Strip Steve, Peaches and Siriusmo) and responsible for over 100 releases while remaining fully independent.
“I don´t compromise when it comes to music,†says Ridha. “I do what I think is cool and what I like and not what the market wants or people may expect. Maintaining artistic freedom has always been the most important thing to me — for my own music and for anyone on my labelâ€
Despite his ever-expanding label roster and the increased demand for his time as a producer and remixer, Ridha’s primary loves continue to be the twin pursuits of making and performing music.
Following the release of his third long-player Out Of The Black in late 2012, he presented the first Boys Noize ‘Live’ show to the masses.
“I really wanted to give people a concert where I perform my music only. It´s not that I don´t like DJing anymore, I´m a DJ to the bone and will always be. But playing my tracks live and putting on a completely new show was something I wanted to do for a long time. It´s different and fresh and that is what I love.”

Art , Food , Music!
Art exists in various forms. Some use a single haired brush to shade the eyelashes on a portrait. Some arbitrarily splatter paint across a canvas. Some put a giant fucking sea creature in a tank and freeze it in time. And then some choose to mix frequencies created by synthesizers with rhythms made by drum machines, all with the intention to dance for hours and hours, and be transported to another mindset.
So, for Art Basel 2014, we celebrate this form of art with an all day long musical exposition at STEAM in Miami’s heart of Downtown. There will be live art painting. There will be sensory overloading food. And, of course, there will be techno. So leave your turtle-necked, horn-rimmed glasses wearing, contemporary art blog reading friends at the expo center (or bring them) and come celebrate one of the most important forms of art with us.

The third edition of the Miami River Art Fair, an international, contemporary art fair, will take place at the Downtown Miami Convention Center inside the James L. Knight International Center.
This art fair was conceived as a showcase of world-class artists and galleries in an indoor booth setting at the Riverfront Hall. This grand show space overlooks the one-of-a-kind outdoor Riverwalk Sculpture Mall that will feature monumental sculpture on the banks of the historic Miami River.
MRAF is providing a unique fair-going experience during the art fair season as the only waterfront art fair. Miami River Art Fair is featuring both an indoor booth setting at the Riverfront Hall of the Miami Convention Center and the one-of-a-kind Riverwalk Sculpture Mall, which is featuring monumental sculpture on the banks of the historic Miami River with a presence of monumental sculptures from Italy, France, Cuba, Colombia, Korea, Spain and a special presentation from Mexico.
The Miami River Art Fair will feature galleries and projects with artists from all around the globe.
The Miami River Art Fair paves the way for the arts in our financial district as the pioneer art fair of the Downtown Miami – Brickell areas during the winter art fair season. The City of Miami welcomes the Miami River Art Fair as a herald for the revitalization of the Lower Miami River district, the city’s waterfront destination of the twenty-first century.
Please join us as we celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the Miami River Art Fair and the Opening Night Preview on December 4. Guests will enjoy Italian Limited Edition Organic Wine and exclusive performance uniquely created for the evening.
Funds raised at the event support the Little Dreams Foundation who was established by Orianne and Phil Collins in February 2000. Its mission is to fulfill the dreams of young aspiring talent without the means to achieve their goals.
Special Collectors’ Preview: December 4th, 4:00 – 6:00pm, $200 per guest. The exclusive first opportunity to preview and purchase works of art at the fair. Guests are also invited to stay for the Opening Night Preview from 6:00 – 11:00 pm.

Life and Death in ART BASEL by PL0T & Poplife
Officially Hosted by “Aquabootyâ€
From December 4th through December 7th Miami will host the 13th annual edition of Art Basel; one of the biggest and most important art gatherings worldwide. Over the past 3 years a unique response has grown for Art Basel within a very select group of artists and labels from the music industry who know about quality; making this the showcasing home and most influential period for Electronic Music in Miami in our opinion. Made for those who know.
Life and Death and PL0T have been pioneering this movement and its 3rd showcase is coming up. On Thursday December 4th, after their very successful second encounter during Art Basel 2014, PL0T will team up with its acclaimed partner label LIFE AND DEATH; and for the first time ever they will join forces with long time Miami Indie trailblazers from POPLIFE. Together they will bring to life the third edition of their Art Basel series of events. Starring Dixon, Mind Against, Thugfucker, Vaal (US Debut), DJ Tennis, Bob Moses and Recondite LIVE. The event will be hosted by “Aquabootyâ€, Dixon’ s long time promoter in the Miami scene.
After a very booming year and improbable events in the universe Life and Death returns to its beloved Miami, colluding with PL0T and Poplife to challenge themselves upon the creation of a materialized encounter, and sliding us through their diverse worlds blazing between life and death. Based on the vision of bringing the puzzling and undisguised sounds of the label to full sensory dimension, this 10 hour affair shall not resemble a conventional club night nor yet another label showcase. This year with a distinct and noteworthy twist to it… they will be welcoming INNERVISIONS own DIXON as their first special guest, and debuting the label’s star VAAL, alongside the already unshakable label legends. Expect mind-boggling music, Life and Death’s distinct art direction and a physical transformation of Grand Central and The Garret’s performance areas, all of which will be equipped with cutting edge sound, including the club’s own custom Adamson Sound System, to ensure that patrons and art aficionados alike will enjoy the full spectrum of this exquisite multi-sensory experience.

City Theatre will serve up a sizzling series of Florida-inspired short plays entitled Swamp Shorts on Monday, November 17 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at Miami Book Fair International’s newest attraction The Swamp.
The Swamp is a pop-up lounge (think Jimbo’s meets the Delano) that showcases Florida stories, music, dance, film, history, and art. All week long, Swamp events exploring the beauty, contradictions, uniqueness, and downright “weirdness†of life in Florida will be offered free of charge.
As a partner of Miami Book Fair International and the Center for Theatre and Literature at Miami Dade College, City Theatre was asked to solicit and curate a selection of shorts plays that align with The Swamp’s mission to reflect the personalities that animate Florida’s, and specifically Miami’s, cultural scene. A call for scripts was sent to homegrown playwrights, resulting in City Theatre’s Swamp Shorts, a vibrant one-night-only collection of readings of new short plays written by South Florida playwrights near and far, that celebrate the stories, characters, patois and sabor of the local community and Sunshine State.
Directed by City Theatre Guest Artist Gail Garrison, Swamp Shorts will be performed by The Swamp Troupe Acting Ensemble: Joshua Jean Baptiste, Ashley Chang, Chasity Hart, Andres Maldonado, David Kwiat, Jessica Brooke Sandford, Karen Stephens and Michael Uribe.
The Swamp Shorts play line-up includes:
Risen from the Dough by France-Luce Benson
Two Haitian sisters own a local bakery and learn that running a business in Miami is more than they expected.
Hey Girl by Jessica Farr
An encounter between a woman and a man waiting for a bus goes bad. Very bad.
Sand and Sam by Lauren Feldman
A woman mourning the death of a grandparent gets an assist from an understanding rabbi and a helpful gravedigger.
The Crocodile’s Bite by Vanessa Garcia
Four characters, all immigrants to the city, connect and collide one night in Miami.
A Pair of Miami Monologues by Gail Garrisan
A South Florida perspective on how to get from here to there, and how to look the part.
Roof by Ricky J. Martinez
A scene from a new full-length play set on a rooftop overlooking Biscayne Blvd.
Swamp Girl by Marj O’Neill-Butler
A South Florida single who’s more comfortable clubbing, considers an invitation for a blind date to the Everglades.
Two of the region’s literary disrupters combine to present this free event from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 17 at The Swamp, located in the big tent at the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus on the southeast corner of NE Third Street and Second Avenue. Craft beers, food trucks and fun take place on The Swamp Porch prior to and following Swamp Shorts. Free parking is available in the adjacent garage.

It is an important Foundation constructed from words, surrounding the organization of distinct cinematographic elements to cultivate the future spectator of the movie. For this reason, two prominent screen writers and directors, León Ichaso (Bitter Sugar, Piñero El Cantante) and Joe Cardona (Café con Leche, Jose Marti: Legacy of Freedom, Celia: The Queen), converse about the occupation of screenwriting. This panel will be moderated by Orlando Rojas, screenwriter, film director and programmer for the Tower Cinema of Miami Dade College.
CreativeMornings/Miami: CHANCE!
November 14, 8:30am – 10:00am
Miami Center for Architecture and Design (MCAD)
100 NE 1st Ave
Miami, Florida 33132
Take a CHANCE ! Taking a chance is at the heart of every CreativeMornings chapter. It’s a chance the organizers take to start their own chapter, the chance a speaker takes to share their story and, of course, the chance the attendees take to get up early in the morning and listen.
This November, we’re celebrating those uncertainties and risks with the theme of Chance and our speaker Robin Hill, photographer for architecture and design.
2014 begins my 28th year as a professional photographer. Back in 2006 I had the good fortune of spending a few hours with my hero, Julius Shulman at the opening of the Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut. He was 96 years old and still working and was in his 7th decade as a photographer which always helps to give me some perspective. (which as an Architectural Photographer is a very handy thing!) I’m deeply passionate about my chosen field and strongly believe in the power of design to affect our lives in a profound way. I see myself as being an integral part of the design community and my tool is photography. I’ve been very fortunate to have worked with some of the top names in the field, and much of the force of their creative work is displayed throughout the website.

The fair is located within the downtown Arts & Entertainment District, adjacent to the Perez Art Museum Miami and the Frost Museum, two of Miami’s most prestigious visual arts institutions, and in proximity to all major downtown hotels and Brickell World Plaza, one of the largest banking centers in North America. Concept will be open until 10pm each night, giving visitors additional time to view the artwork after other December fairs close, and operating on a schedule more conducive to Miami’s relaxed atmosphere, later dining hours and vibrant nightlife.
The inaugural edition of Concept, a new art fair for downtown Miami during Art Basel Miami Week, will launch December 2nd through 7th aboard the SeaFair yacht docked at Bayfront Park as it awaits its permanent location to open in 2015 at Miami’s Museum Park. Modern and contemporary art, installations, performances, and cutting edge audience engagement technology will be presented in the intimate and luxurious SeaFair exhibition space and surrounding park, delivering a distinct and decidedly refined art fair experience for the public and veteran collectors alike.
Concept aims to position its exhibitors and attendees at the center of Miami’s expanding Arts & Entertainment District amidst one of the world’s fastest growing cities and luxury markets. With a roster of international blue-chip galleries primarily presenting newly available secondary market modern and contemporary masterpieces, Concept will appeal to seasoned art fair veterans and art market professionals interested in portfolio worthy investment pieces.

Opening Tuesday, December 2
On view: December 2, 2014 – April 19, 2015
Open to the public – general museum admission
R.R. and the Expansion of the Tropics is a project developed by Mexico City-based artist Mario Garcia Torres (b.1975, Monclova, Mexico) specifically for the Pérez Art Museum Miami in which a number of seemingly unrelated subjects such as Robert Rauschenberg, climate change and Florida are threaded together to form a series of conceptual and political questions. Garcia Torres has long been interested in exploring little-known issues within recent art history and in addressing parallel subjects that find new meanings and contexts through his careful juxtapositions. This project will create a number of gestures, including photographic documentation, film, music and other types of information displays.
Project Gallery: Mario Garcia Torres is organized by Pérez Art Museum Miami Chief Curator Tobias Ostrander.

Christie’s and JW Marriott Present Warhol Pops Up In Miami
Wednesday, December 3rd and Thursday, December 4th, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
JW Marriott Marquis
255 Biscayne Boulevard Way
Miami, Florida 33131
Exhibit Is Open To The Public And Free Of Charge
Christie’s, JW Marriott® Hotels & Resorts, and JW Marriott Marquis Miami are pleased to announce a pop-up art sale at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami, which will be the first time original art will be available for purchase at a JW Marriott property.
The unique selling event, which will be held December 3-4 on the hotel’s fifth floor, will coincide with Art Basel Miami Beach 2014. The public is welcome to view the exhibit free-of-charge.
The exhibit is part of Andy Warhol at Christie’s, a multi-year, multi-platform partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. A curated group of more than 20 paintings, photographs, prints, and works on paper, many of which have never been seen before and with price points ranging from $3,000 to $50,000, will be available for sale to the public and hotel guests.
“This exhibition presents a unique opportunity for collectors to acquire original works by Andy Warhol that come directly from Warhol’s collection – he’s the only person who has owned it. Collectors have the added bonus that proceeds of the sales benefit The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts’ grant-making initiatives,†comments Amelia Manderscheid, Associate Vice President, Specialist, Warhol Private Sales.
As with all sales in Andy Warhol at Christie’s—including live auctions, online-only auctions, and private sales — all works are drawn from the collection of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, with proceeds benefitting the Foundation’s grant-making programs.
db Bistro Moderne Miami, Chef Daniel Boulud’s restaurant located within the JW Marriott Marquis Miami, will also pay homage to Warhol during the week with dishes and cocktails inspired by the artist’s works. Chef Boulud – who cooked for Warhol himself in the 1980s in NYC – Executive Chef Jason Pringle, and Pastry Chef Jerome Maure channel their creativity on the chefs’ canvas, the plate. Guests who visit the gallery may bring their ticket to db Bistro to redeem a complimentary Warhol-inspired cocktail from December 2-7. Cocktails include:
POP ART: red wine, coke, lime juice, served in a Campbell’s soup can; VELVET UNDERGROUND: gin, St. Germaine, banana, sparking wine, hibiscus; CANDY DARLING: white wine, ginger liqueur, soda, mint ice ball.
As the official hotel partner of Art Basel, Design Miami, Art Miami, and the Perez Art Museum, the JW Marriott Marquis Miami is immersed in the growing art scene already present in the city. Besides its more than $250,000 in sponsorships, and its support of other arts organizations such as the Miami International Symphony Orchestra, Florida Grand Opera, and others, the hotel and JW Marriott brand boast a strategic partnership with Christie’s, the world’s leading art auction house. The partnership began during Art Basel 2010 when the hotel featured a popular exhibition of Post-War and Contemporary highlights which included pieces from artists such as Andy Warhol, Antony Gormley, and Damien Hirst. The hotel also houses a museum-caliber art collection worth more than $1 million, called the Art of Reinvention.
“We are excited to partner with Christie’s Auction House for the fifth consecutive year during Art Basel. This unique art event celebrating the remarkable works of one of America’s most important art showmen while supporting the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts will be a must see for Art Basel visitors and local art enthusiasts,†said Florencia Tabeni, General Manager, JW Marriott Marquis Miami.
The exhibit will be launched at an invitation-only lunch and panel discussion titled ‘Disruptors: Thinking Outside the Box’ on Tuesday, December 2nd. Confirmed panelists include Daniel Boulud, chef-owner of DB Bistro, Eric Chang, co-founder and designer for Hellman-Chang furniture, Matthew Von Ertfelda, vice president Insight, Strategy + Innovation at Marriott International, Amelia Manderscheid, Christie’s Andy Warhol expert, and Eric Shiner, Director, Andy Warhol Museum. MIAMI magazine is the official media partner and moderator for the panel.

The nation’s finest and largest literary gathering, Miami Book Fair International, presented by The Center for Literature and Theatre @ Miami Dade College (MDC), a program of Miami Dade College’s MDCulture, will celebrate its 31st edition this year.
New to the Fair this year will be Playtime, an international children’s theatre festival presented by Teatro Prometeo, and The Swamp, a pop-up lounge featuring live music and writers whose works explore the beauty, contradictions, uniqueness and weirdness of life in the Sunshine State. Both are made possible by a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, as part of its Knight Arts Challenge.
The Book Fair this year will feature 6WordsMiami, a community project where all are invited to submit their six-word stories. Whether it’s a memoir, fiction, fantasy or other – all submissions are welcome, though the Fair hopes some are inspired by Miami life. A 6WordsMiami reading will take place at the Book Fair. Some stories will be paired up with original photography and published in a limited-edition postcard set. Submissions will be accepted in English, Spanish or Creole. There is no limit to how many stories one can submit. Submission dates are June 15 through October 1 at 6wordsmiami@gmail.com and through social media using the hashtag #6WordsMiami.
The Miami Book Fair, one of Miami’s flagship cultural events, will treat book lovers to eight days of cultural and educational activities, including the beloved Evenings With… series, the IberoAmerican Authors program, literacy and learning activities for children and teens during Generation Genius Days, and The Kitchen, demos and panels for food enthusiasts in partnership with the college’s Miami Culinary Institute. Fairgoers will also enjoy more than 200 exhibitors from around the country selling books in a festive atmosphere and hundreds of authors reading and discussing new books during the weekend Street Fair.
Miami Book Fair International 2014 promises to be another exceptional literary event!

The International Network of Social Journalism (INSJ) in partnership with Nina Torres Fine Art presents: ART & ENVIRONMENT: A CONVERSATION. The event will be an intimate look at how art can create awareness of the environment and how we live.
Participating in the panel will be world-renowned artist Ruben Santurian, environmental champions Luiz Rodrigues, executive director of ECOMB (Enviromental Coalition of Miami and Beaches) and Cinema Green and Brett Bibeau, Managing Director of the Miami River Commission. Nina Torres will be moderating.
INSJ is an organization that operates in the field of social communication and human development. Society, Culture and Heritage, New Technologies, Environment, Children’s Rights, Domestic Violence and HIV and AIDS are some of the topics that have been developed from the perspective of communication as a central focus. Their goal is to improve media coverage, bring awareness to social issues, and to create forums that encourage discussion, reflection and participation. ISNJ also develops and promotes curricula at all levels of training, ensuring greater social awareness and participation by raising the sense of responsibility all stakeholders.
“We wanted to create a space in which we can explore the relationship between art and the environment. To have an artists, a gallery owners and the directors of two of Miami’s most active environmental organization, is the perfect combination for a productive and thought-provoking exchange of ideas.†Explained Horacion Knaeber, Director of INSJ.
Art as a vehicle to create consciousness of the environment as a living space is not a strange concept for our panelists. Ruben Santurian is a world-renowned artist who is now launching his latest series: Trashformers – which are sculptures made of trash and recyclable materials in the shape of who will be speaking about the relationship between men and nature through art. His new series Trashformers will be showcased at Nina Torres Fine Art.
The program will start with a introduction by gallery owner Nina Torres, who will touch on Art as a tool of raising awareness; Brett Bibeau, from the Miami River Commission will talk about the Miami River, its ecological challenges, and its relationship with the Miami River Fair. Luiz Rodrigues from ECOMB will discuss the mission of the organization, its challenges and Cinema Green.
