Blue Martini Fort Lauderdale will host its 11th annual Golf Invitational to benefit A Prom to Remember on Monday, March 23, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., at Fort Lauderdale Country Club, the oldest private country club in Broward County. A Prom to Remember is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide the ultimate prom experience for teens who have been affected by cancer, at no-cost to their families.

Funds from this tournament will help to create this year’s prom on May 8 at the Ritz-Carlton, Fort Lauderdale. Over 200 teens will experience an unforgettable night with Miami Dolphin players, Miami Heat and Miami Hurricane cheerleaders/dancers along with local celebrities, DJs and more.

The tournament format consists of registration and lunch at 11 a.m. with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start for a four-person scramble. A silent auction with luxury items awards ceremony and dinner will be held at 6 p.m. This will be the first charitable tournament to be held on Fort Lauderdale Country Club’s newly renovated North Course.

The North Course project, overseen by Kipp Schulties, principal architect of Kipp Schulties Golf Design (KSGD), underwent an extensive renovation including replacement of the greens and the provision of tees between 4,800 yards and 7,100 yards, making the course more enjoyable for both men and women of all abilities. The upgrades created an elevated level of excitement for members adding to the facility’s 18-Hole, Par 72 South Course which was built in 1926, remodeled twice and is often home to many corporate and non-profit events, annually.

In the Broward County area, which has numerous golf courses, Fort Lauderdale Country Club is a select private club that offers 36-holes of manicured championship golf in a forested park-like setting. Visually, the Club is truly a unique oasis as fairways are lined with stately native trees and colorful beds of flowers, as opposed to houses.

The Blue Martini Golf Invitational at Fort Lauderdale Country Club is also sponsored by Cheney Brothers, Daoud’s Fine Jewelry, WSVN and Ultimate Software.

The golf fee to participate in the 11th Annual Blue Martini is $400 per person or $1,600 for a Corporate Sponsorship foursome which includes a tee or a green sign and company recognition. Fees includes lunch, greens fees and golf cart, a golfer’s gift bag, day-of-event contests, on-course beverages and the awards dinner and ceremony. Lips, the ultimate in drag dining, will once again present “A Night of Stars,” as the official kick-off fundraiser for the annual SMART Ride (Southern Most AIDS/HIV Ride 2020), a 165 Mile bicycle ride from Miami to Key West planned for this November.

Five celebrity guest servers will be dishing out great food and fun alongside Lips’ very own cast of characters as SMART Ride supporters are dazzled by divas. Chosen for their commitment to the annual bicycling event, Austin Bergman, Rene Cantu, Jeff Honour, Robert Moelius and Carol Moran will camp it up table by table to earn extra tips for the cause.

Shops at Merrick Park will present its 16th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony with Santa’s Arrival, sponsored by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, on Thursday, November 21, at 6 p.m. One of the largest tree lighting ceremonies and holiday celebrations in South Florida, the event will include the 50’ tree-lighting, live entertainment, interactive activities, retailer pop-up stations and the highly anticipated appearance by Santa Claus.

The popular event is centered around a majestic 50-foot tree adorned with 55,000 colorful twinkling bulbs. Shops at Merrick Park will transform into a winter wonderland with live performances by the Miami Royal Ballet, Coral Gables High School Choir & Band and Miami Senior High School Marching Band plus greetings from holiday characters, giveaways and more. Moksha Indian Brasserie, a new Indian restaurant offering a contemporary dining experience in east Fort Lauderdale will host its third and final “Dine & Give” night as a part of its grand opening celebrations. John David Jackson (born November 18, 1977), known professionally as Fabolous, is an American rapper from Brooklyn, New York City. Jackson’s career began when he was a senior in high school and ended up rapping live on American record producer and music executive DJ Clue’s radio show, then on Hot 97. Jackson was subsequently signed by DJ Clue to his label Desert Storm, and later secured a distribution deal with Elektra Records. Fabolous’ first release, Ghetto Fabolous (2001), spawned the hit singles “Can’t Deny It” and “Young’n (Holla Back)”, which led Jackson to prominence. His second release was 2003’s Street Dreams, which was supported by two Top 10 singles “Can’t Let You Go” and “Into You”.

Including the aforementioned songs, Jackson has released a string of hit singles, such as “Trade It All, Pt. 2”, “Breathe”, “Make Me Better”, “Baby Don’t Go”, “Throw It in the Bag” and “You Be Killin’ Em”. He is also known for appearing on several R&B singles, including “Superwoman Pt. II” by Lil’ Mo, “Dip It Low” by Christina Milian, “Shawty Is a 10” by The-Dream, “Addiction” by Ryan Leslie, “I Can’t Hear the Music” by Brutha, “She Got Her Own” by Jamie Foxx, “Say Aah” by Trey Songz, and much more.

In 2007, he released From Nothin’ to Somethin’, under Def Jam. In 2009, he would go on to release his fifth album, Loso’s Way. Throughout the years Jackson has released several mixtapes, including several installments of his highly acclaimed There Is No Competition series and The S.O.U.L. Tape series, respectively. He released his sixth album, The Young OG Project, in 2014.

An estimated one in eight U.S. women is expected to develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. While these statistics are alarming, individuals and organizations across the nation continue to do their part to fund vital research seeking a cure. This October, Blue Martini Fort Lauderdale is teaming up with AutoNation, America’s largest automotive retailer, to raise awareness for breast cancer as part of a month-long charitable drive, marked by a new signature event, the Rosé Garden Party on Saturday, October 19, from 8 to 11 p.m. at The Galleria Fort Lauderdale location. Proceeds from the ticketed event, which will feature live entertainment, drink specials and raffles, plus sales from specific drinks all month long, will benefit the Dolphins Cancer Challenge.

Throughout the month of October, Blue Martini Fort Lauderdale will donate $2 for every signature pink cocktail and $2 for every glass of Maison Belle Claire Rosé that is sold to the Dolphins Cancer Challenge. The Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) was founded in 2010 by the Miami Dolphins organization as the signature initiative of the Foundation’s health area. Presented by Lago Mar, the “Eat Your Heart Out” event benefitting Heart Gallery of Broward County is returning to The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, October 3, at 6 p.m. With a record breaking nearly 30 participating restaurants, this is Fort Lauderdale’s favorite food and “fun” raiser featuring gourmet creations, fresh libations, celebrity servers, live entertainment and a silent auction.

Attendees at “Eat Your Heart Out” will be treated to a dazzling array of epicurean bites and refreshing beverages from a variety of popular restaurants including Andy’s Live Fire Grill, Angelo Elia Pizza, Bar and Tapas, Blue Martini, Bob Roth’s Grove, Bravo Peruvian Cuisine, BrownBag Popcorn Co., Canyon, Café Maxx, Café Seville, Café Vico, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants, Culinary Republic, Fitlife Foods, Godiva Chocolatier, Il Mulino, Lips Fort Lauderdale, Moksha Indian Brasserie, Myapapaya, Ocean 2000, Phat Boy Sushi & Kitchen, Riverside Market and Café, Seasons 52, Serafina, Sweeter Days, Tarpon River Brewing, Taverna Opa, The Capital Grille, The Mermaid Bar – Neiman Marcus, and Truluck’s.

A respected roster of celebrity guest servers will spice up the event as they show their support for Heart Gallery and share tasty samples from participating restaurants. A silent auction will include great trips, dining opportunities and exciting experiences. A live art demonstration by artist Yankiel Mompeller will be available, courtesy of ArtBeat Galleries. Also, an exclusive raffle will offer two roundtrip tickets on JetBlue and a two night stay for two at the Westin Grand Hotel NYC with daily breakfast which are $50 per ticket. Heart Gallery of Broward County launched in 2007 as a traveling photography exhibit of foster children who were waiting to be permanently adopted and has evolved to work closely with ChildNet and local foster care providers to seek adoptive families and other connections for these children. Now in its 6th year, this event, the largest and most successful fundraiser that the organization hosts, benefits not only the children, family and partner organizations it serves, but the whole community.

Moksha Indian Brasserie, a new Indian restaurant offering a contemporary dining experience, is excited to host three “Dine & Give” benefit nights as a part of its grand opening celebrations. This summer, Boulud Sud Miami has invited four chefs from Café Boulud, part of the Daniel Boulud family of restaurants, for a collaborative culinary journey. Dominoes are no longer found just on Calle Ocho, the Miami cultural pastime is making its mark as a mainstay throughout the Magic City. 10 Days of Connection is a community-led initiative to promote kindness and inclusion in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. From May 1-10, participants are invited to attend connection experiences hosted by more than 100 local organizations, and are challenged to step outside of their comfort zone to forge new connections across lines of difference.

In recent years, people have become increasingly divided across lines of difference. Incidents of hate have increased, and tolerance for differing ideas has decreased. Enjoy the authentic sights, sounds and flavors of the Caribbean during the 2018 “Taste the Islands Experience” at the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society. DJs Nickymix and Richie D will create the audial atmosphere taking guests on a musical island journey while the incomparable Steve ‘Sir Rockwell’ Warner will emcee the event. A steel drum band and costumed carnival players will add to the exuberant island atmosphere.

Ultra-VIP treatment will include complimentary massages in the Goldson Spine massage studio, and complimentary refreshers in the Glam Studio with Makeup by Rory Lee and hair touch-ups by Miss Jessie’s.
