The Kiwanis of Little Havana is set to host its 39th Annual Christmas Gala, with support from BMW, Bacardi, Coca-Cola, AT&T and Heineken. Proceeds from the annual fundraising event will benefit various Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation projects, including “A Toy for Every Child” and “Adopt-a-Family” holiday initiatives, as well as the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation Future Leaders Through Education Scholarship Fund.

“We are excited to continue honoring the club’s 40th anniversary during our annual Christmas Gala and raise the funds needed to provide gifts, meals and essential items to thousands of families during the holidays and beyond,” said Tony Lorenzo, chairman of the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation. “We are grateful for our corporate and community partners who help our members and volunteers further our mission of giving back to those in need, one child and one community at a time.”

Guests will dance to the rhythm of live performances by internationally renowned Grammy-award winner, legendary Cuban-American music icon and past King of Carnaval Miami (1993) Willy Chirino, and 80s disco-diva and queen of freestyle, Shannon. Attendees will also enjoy an open bar and buffet stations featuring local cuisine. Formal attire will be strictly enforced.

Additional benefiting foundation projects include the annual Kiwanis Club of Little Havana Christmas Fair, and many more community goodwill youth initiatives.

The Miami Beach EDITION is thrilled to announce its dynamic roster of events taking place at Basement Miami for Miami Art Week 2015. Following one of the most talked about hotel launches, which took place over last year’s Art Basel, Miami’s leading nightlife and entertainment venue strikes back better than ever, with a week-long series of events, that kicks off with a 1 year anniversary celebration.

To kick off Miami Art Week, conceptual light artist, Olivia Steele, will unveil two light installations made of neon, which will be located in the ice skating rink and ‘Larry Lounge’ of the club, and remain as permanent installations. From Tuesday through Sunday, Basement Miami will be stacked with a lineup of cutting edge international DJs, such as disco legend Giorgio Moroder, Seth Troxler, DJ Harvey, and Kanye West’s creative director, Virgil Abloh, along with local favorites, DJ Ross One and DZA. With parties hosted by Paper Magazine and Whitewall Magazine, and art collaborations with Material Art Fair and Anonymous Gallery, Basement Miami’s events will feature prime talent and the best crowds, all complemented by state of the art sound and lighting systems.

The Kiwanis of Little Havana is set to host its 39th Annual Christmas Gala, with support from BMW, Bacardi, Coca-Cola, AT&T and Heineken. Proceeds from the annual fundraising event will benefit various Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation projects, including “A Toy for Every Child” and “Adopt-a-Family” holiday initiatives, as well as the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation Future Leaders Through Education Scholarship Fund.

“We are excited to continue honoring the club’s 40th anniversary during our annual Christmas Gala and raise the funds needed to provide gifts, meals and essential items to thousands of families during the holidays and beyond,” said Tony Lorenzo, chairman of the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation. “We are grateful for our corporate and community partners who help our members and volunteers further our mission of giving back to those in need, one child and one community at a time.”

Guests will dance to the rhythm of live performances by internationally renowned Grammy-award winner, legendary Cuban-American music icon and past King of Carnaval Miami (1993) Willy Chirino, Grammy-award winning Cuban-music sensation and past Queen of Carnaval Miami (2005) Albita, along with 80s disco-diva and queen of freestyle, Shannon. Attendees will also enjoy an open bar and buffet stations featuring local cuisine. Formal attire will be strictly enforced.

Additional benefiting foundation projects include the annual Kiwanis Club of Little Havana Christmas Fair, and many more community goodwill youth initiatives.

The Brickell Comedy Festival brings the best local comedians to the stage to compete for your laughs and your votes on Wednesday, November 18. In a showcase contest style format, one comedian from each show will be named by audience vote as the best and take home a $500 grand prize. A portion of the proceeds from every ticket sale will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami. Set at the beautiful and intimate Flamingo Theater Bar in the Four Ambassadors Hotel. Enjoy a wide variety drinks and signature cocktails from the bar and delectibles from the kitchen. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Showtimes at 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Valet parking ($12) and street parking are available.

To commemorate another successful year of dedication to end the water and sanitation crisis, BLUE Missions is hosting its 5th Annual Cocktail fundraiser on May 9 at Florida International University. For over five years, BLUE Missions has served the Miami community in educating young adults of the overwhelming need for clean water and sanitation in poverty-stricken communities abroad through authentic immersion experiences in the Dominican Republic.
The evening features an open bar stocked with premium-brand liquor provided by Southern Wine & Spirits, hors d’oeuvres and dinner catered by Cole Catering, live music by Afro-Latin funk band Suénalo and professional singer/songwriter, Keba, along with beats by DJ Mandy.

Starting in April, the waterfront gastropub is sharing the breadth of their brew knowledge by giving guests the hop-portunity to meet, greet and learn from local breweries while sipping exclusive flavors on tap. On Tuesday, April 21st from 8 to 11 p.m., American Social Brickell is hosting a Funky Buddha tap takeover showcasing South Florida’s largest brewery.

Friday night, a friend and I had the chance to attend the SOBEWFF Amstel Light Burger Bash. Of course, being allergic to sub-par beer, we decided to check out the newest brewery in Wynwood, J Wakefield Brewing for some pre-gaming. Seriously, check that place out!

And while J Wakefield had what looked to be a pretty awesome food truck outside, what it didn’t have was a Ritz-Carlton beach full of awesome chefs preparing gourmet burgers! Oh, or the hot chicks, spectacular band, celebrities (yeah, I got my picture taken with Al Roker and Morimoto!), and thousands of people.

Honestly, you can see who won here. I was a little disappointed with the star power that I and other people love to meet (though not burger quality) compared to when I went in 2013. That year, Morimoto was there but was joined by Bobby Flay, Guy Fieri, Scott Conant, Michael Symon, Geoffrey Zakarian, Andrew, Zimmern, Anne Burrell, The Sandwich King, and more.

My favorite and the one I cast my vote for was Prime One Twelve (Prime 112). That burger was so juicy and cheesy and delicious! I also enjoyed Red Robin’s burger and Shake Shack too among a handful of others.

Travel into the future with five local and international guest speakers for The City of the Future PechaKucha presented by the Frost Science Young Patrons as part of the Frost Science’s multi-day Innovation and Engineering Weekend: Building the City of the Future. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy beverages while making their very own pottery through a special Maker’s activity. The evening will conclude by the “rake” kiln fire while the pottery is cured for guests to take home. Reyka Vodka Visits Miami

If there is one thing Miami is doing well, it’s cocktails. Handcrafted cocktail hotspots like the Broken Shaker and Bodega prove that our cocktail scene is innovative and ahead of the curve. Plus, our local mixologists are respected and recognizable figures in the national hospitality circles. Would you expect any less from a top-tier nightlife destination like Miami?

Reyka Vodka brand ambassador, Trevor Schneider, can vouch for Miami’s cocktail credibility. When New York’s very own “cocktail ninja” arrived to our beautiful city last Saturday, he was excited to see that Miami is bringing our mixology A-game. The Broken Shaker, he says, is the prime example of how high Miami is setting the bar. That said, it comes as no surprise that he selected The Broken Shaker as the backdrop for re-introducing Reyka Vodka to the Miami community.

Earlier this week, Trevor invited local influencers to the Freehand Miami for a tasting of classic cocktails reinvented with Reyka Vodka. The menu featured three signature cocktails bound to take Miami by storm: the Reyka Cooler, the Harvest Collins, and the Icelandic Paloma. We loved all three, especially because each one had a distinct claim-to-fame. For example, the Harvest Collins had strawberry-infused vodka that made it dangerously delicious.

The free-flowing drinks, the gorgeous weather, and Trevor’s charisma were all contributing factors to a good time. 27 Restaurant and Bar sealed the deal by furnishing exquisite hors d’oeuvres that, to no one’s surprise, impressed everyone present. Overall the night was an incredible success. We speak for everyone when we say that you’re welcome back any time Reyka Vodka!
