Over the course of the weekend Green Businesses, featuring sustainable services and products work alongside non-profits to promote a sustainable future for Miami. There will be solar demos, bio-diesel education, urban farming workshops, and more. The Festival also has a mission of creating Zero Waste, with recycling and compost stations setup throughout the event. Biking to the festival is encouraged! Half-priced Sunday tickets are available for all who arrive by bicycle and numerous bike-centric activities are offered throughout the weekend.

The GrassRoots organization is deeply committed to building relationships in the community. The cornerstone of these local partnerships is the Roots in the Schools collaborative outreach program. In the week leading up to the event, The Virginia Key GrassRoots Festival brings musicians into local schools for musical performances, classroom presentations, workshops, hands on experience and cultural enrichment. The program’s goal is to promote the creative health of young people, foster arts appreciation, and provide an opportunity for them to connect with the inspiring world of music. Please take a minute to view a short highlight video from last year’s program offerings; http://youtu.be/8eTbyKStR_0

Held on the pristine sands of the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, camping is available on the main festival grounds, just steps from the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. Several local businesses have partnered to establish the South Florida chapter of The Dear Santa Society, a Philadelphia-based charity that over the past 25 years has provided toys, clothing and food to thousands of children during the holiday season.

A non-profit organization founded in 1989, The Dear Santa Society strives to bring together a community of caring people who want to help others in their communities. Since its inception, the charity has provided toys, clothing and food to over 4,800 children in approximately 1,500 families. All members of The Dear Santa Society are volunteers, including its board members and officers. No volunteers, officers or board members receive any compensation and 100% of contributions made to The Dear Santa Society are used to fund the holiday drive.

The 501(c)3 organization solicits contributions from individuals, small businesses and large corporations and conducts fund-raising events during the course of the year. The South Florida chapter’s fundraising efforts this year are lead by its founding members, who include The Max Group, The Buzz Agency of Florida, The Sonoma House, Farmer Jay Organics and Blindfold Magazine. Contributions can be made in person to any of the founding member companies or on the Dear Santa Society website (www.dearsantasociety.org). Cash, checks and credit cards are all accepted.

South Florida Chairperson Fred Stampone of The Max Group points out, ”Most of us are lucky to have many happy holiday memories, but there are many children right here in our own backyard who are deprived of such memories. The hardships that many families face throughout the year become particularly acute during the holiday season.”

Volunteers interested in joining this year’s effort should contact The Sonoma House at 561-756-9474. The program schedule calls for wrapping toys and clothing on December 18th at 7:00 PM and delivery to families on December 21st at 8:00 AM, with such activities being conducted at The Sonoma House, 200 NE 11th Street, Boca Raton, FL 33432.

Celebrity Art Series II presents “BLACK: The Art of Color” Featuring the Art of Danny Simmons brother of music mogul Russell Simmons

November 22, 2013 – Miami, FL. – Art Week Miami & Art Basel Miami Beach expands to Historic Coconut Grove with Celebrity Art Series II from December 3rd – 8th at KROMA, featuring modern art by African American, Haitian, and African artists. The exhibit and cultural programs showcase the talent of featured artists: Danny Simmons (who with his music mogul brother Russell Simmons, (co- founded Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation and established Def Comedy Jam). Paintings by Andre Guichard, curator and co-owner of Gallery Guichard Fine Art gallery in Chicago and national curator of a nationwide artist contest with over 10,000 art submissions will also be featured. Other high-profile artists include: Charly Palmer, Joseph Grant Jr., Adrian Pickett, Najee Dorsey, and Derek Joshua Beard.

“I have been attending Art Basel since its inception and I noticed the lack of diversity in the presence of black art galleries and attendees,” said Que Simmons, Celebrity Art Series Founder. With the encouragement and financial support of friends, I debuted Celebrity Art Series in Wynwood in 2012, and I’m delighted to present Series II, which will showcase some of the most talented African American artists of our time, while contributing to charities in our community.
Entrance to the events is free. However all of the art pieces are available for purchase. Proceeds from the art sales will benefit the Women’s International Film and Art Festival’s [501(c)(3)] initiative “Reel Girls: Real Women.” Added to the event is a spin on the annual “Taste of the Grove,” in which each nightly reception is sponsored by a local Grove restaurant with samples of their signature appetizers.

Dignitaries, art collectors, and the black arterati have been invited to join this high-quality exciting week of events in historic Coconut Grove. KROMA is located at 3670 Grand Avenue, Coconut Grove, Florida 33133. Everyone is welcome.

After a year-long nationwide series of competitive gallery showcases, the winners of Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project are poised to exhibit and sell new pieces of their own works during a group show at SCOPE Art Show, the preeminent launching pad for emerging contemporary art, kicking off December 3 in Miami Beach.

Launched in January in San Francisco, the 2013 Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project paired up-and-coming artists in six cities with local venue owners to create custom and functional pieces of art in some of the hottest bars, lounges and restaurants in each city. Artists were handpicked and given the challenge to transform a blank canvas-wrapped Red Bull cooler into an inspired work of art. The masterpieces were unveiled to the public in a one-night only local exhibition where gallery patrons and an esteemed panel of judges voted for their favorite pieces, ultimately awarding 2 artists in each city the coveted invitation to exhibit at SCOPE Miami Beach 2013.

Thirteen selections from the nationwide competition of galleries are participating in a career-changing event. The artists will be at the SCOPE First View on Tuesday, December 3 from 1pm-9pm, to discuss their showcased work with the press. For additional information, visit redbull.com/curates.

Out of Naples, we have The Wholetones sharing some “Folkmetalbluegrass” just in time for the holidays. DJ Haitian Hillbilly will be spinning as well. No Cover.

Biography
Formed in 2007 when Alex Dorris and Taylor Freydberg met at a local bluegrass jam, the Wholetones were later completed with the addition of Russ Depa on upright bass, and Mayo Coates on drums.
They play a unique mix of bluegrass, folk, jazz, and metal, all translated through acoustic instruments.
Combining impressive technical skill with the spontaneity of jazz and drive of bluegrass, they put on a captivating live show, jumping from folk to metal as easily as they do from banjo to cello.
The Wholetones’ blend of genres is a result of the four members’ enormously varied musical appetite. They play and listen to reggae, metal, hip-hop, bluegrass, and everything in between, and the end product is a truly original sound.

White has received international acclaim for her large-scale paintings and installations that merge the mediums of painting, sculpture and architecture. The title,CURVA, refers to the Italian term for the section of soccer stadium seating where the most fervent fans, or “Ultràs,” sit. The exhibition will comprise works from White’s 3-stripes, Multiple-canvas and PVC series, highlighting her ability to distill text-based symbology into both complex palimpsests and hybrid constructs.

Hands up!
Shooting Daisy in Wynwood District

Nicole Furman at SPECTRUM Miami 2013

Miami’s Wynwood Art District is the home to more than fifty galleries, five museums, seven art complexes and many art fairs and studios. Global art lovers enjoy discovering this district and named it one of most stylish neighbourhoods in the world. SPECTRUM showcases the best innovative, contemporary art from 50 top galleries and 50 juried studios representing talented artists from around the globe. It is an important event for all serious collectors, curators, museum directors and interior designers, providing an intimate look at some of the most important work at the forefront of the international contemporary art movement.

A lifelong fascination with painting, body painting, performances, installations and photography shapes the work of Nicole Furman. The artworks of her series: Disney Fantasy Series, Hommage Series and Silhouette Series will be displayed in her individual booth No. 613 at SPECTRUM Miami.

In reviewing her artistic concepts, the Bogota based artist explains the meaning behind her Disney Fantasy Series: “Utilizing Disney characters as symbols of innocence, I seek to question its mere purity- of innocence, that is- discovering that innocence perhaps never was. Alongside, I play with the adult side of the “Ultimate Fantasy” that Disney symbolizes: with a nude body as my canvas and the satisfaction of fulfilling expectations: a proper woman and a macho man, deconstructed.

In regards to her other works she mentions: “The Silhouette Series begins the search and exploration of feminine beauty (inside and out) finding it plagued with secret identities and insecurities. At the same time, it is a very personal and vulnerable journey, rendering my body and self as subject matter in various images. While in the Hommage Series I seek for my aesthetic within the pre-existent remembering that it is all a process of construction and reconstruction.”

Nicole Furman lives and works in Bogota, Colombia. She enrolled in a two year IB Higher Level Art Program in Lima, Peru where she focused on body painting and short term performance. She also took art courses with a focus on Visual Studies and Art History at Brown University, Providence, RI and Photography, Printmaking and Oil Painting Courses at the Art Center of South Florida where she further developped her artistic career.

Nicole Furman participated in various art performance projects of former NYU Tisch Art Students and produced a number of performances and series of body paints of great artistic vision, original content and unprecedented style while living in both Lima and Providence. Amoungst her juried and curated solo shows it should mentioned, that her works were displayed at TOAF (The Other Art Fair)-London, Feria de Arte Odeon-Bogota and Preview Berlin Art Fair-Berlin. Nicole Furman is an emerging multi media artist and body painter. Throughout her career, she has presented a sustained, eloquent, and provocative exploration of the construction of male and female roles and identites drawn from the unlimited supply of images from movies, TV, magazines, fashion and art history.

Working with several third party models and herself as model, Nicole has captured herself and others in a range of guises and personas which are at times amusing and disturbing, distasteful and affecting. To create her photographs she assumes multiple roles. With an arsenal of wigs, costumes, masks, and most importantly, body paints, she has deftly altered the (painted) bodies physique of herself and others, and surroundings to create a myriad of intriguing tableaus and characters.

Highlighted in the exhibition are in-depth presentations of her key series, including the ground-breaking series “Disney Fantasy” (2013), with photos of Minnie, Daisy, Donal Duck and Mickey which feature the painted bodies in non-stereotypical female or male roles – or the Beautiful works from her Silhouettes Series (2012), her self portraits, that address the experience and representation of beauty, personal layers, self exploration, and mental emotion, in the context of contemporary obsessions with youth, status, reality – and the miracle of our subconsciousness. Be careful. Shootin’ Daisy is waiting in Wynwood District. Or inside yourself?

The Matzoball began 27 years ago as an annual Jewish singles event taking place on Christmas Eve in multiple cities across the US. Young Jews would find themselves on vacation with nothing to do on a night where practically everything was closed. This posed a problem because even staying at home was not an option – everything on the Television and radio was geared toward the celebration of Christmas! So why not throw a big party where all your friends could get together and mingle, socialize and network?

Why not indeed! Twenty-seven years and innumerable friendships, hookups and marriages later, the Matzoball is now an American Jewish institution that includes events year round as well as travel opportunities and more!

Playing on the old cliché, A Gay Man and his Mother, Manuel Pardo, an openly gay artist, was best known for his series Mother & I, dedicating his work to his hero, his mother Gladys. In 2011 Manuel Pardo’s retrospective took place at the Begovich Gallery, The Fullerton Museum at CSUF accompanied by the publication of his monograph Manuel Pardo Universo Soñado in Technicolor, coordinated by Andrea Harris; foreward by Susana Torruella Leval, Director Emeritus, El Museo del Barrio; and essays contributed by Mike McGee, Director, CSUF Begovich Gallery; and David Frankel, Editorial Director at MOMA, The Complex Solace of Manuel Pardo.

Obituary: Manuel Pardo died in November 2012 after a short illness while enjoying the success of his career survey show entitled Stardust at California State University, Fullerton 2011 and book entitled “Universo Sonado In Technicolor” released in 2012. An informal memorial show entitled “The Solstice Of Manuel Pardo” curated by Christine McCarthy, Executive Director of Provincetown Art Association and Museum and Gary Marotta of Gary Marotta Fine Art g-1 in Provincetown was held at The Highline Loft in New York from April 26-May 18, 2013. During National Anti-Bullying Week, National Voices for Equality, Education, and Enlightenment (NVEEE) will honor community members dedicated to making a difference in the lives of youth and families at their 3rd Annual “Not on My Watch” VIP Reception. This reception is attended by elected officials, business leaders, educators, community partners and parents who support bullying prevention efforts in the South Florida community and beyond.

Sponsored by community partners Kaufman, Rossin & Co and Printhouse USA, the event takes place on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Brasileiro Restaurant (801 Brickell Bay Drive, Miami, FL 33131) from 7:00p.m – 11:00p.m and will include a live auction and special performances by NVEEE Teen Spokesperson and Peace Ambassador, Katie Steel and a dance performance by NVEEE Peace Ambassador Jordynn Lurie. For more information about NVEEE visit http://www.NVEEE.org, or to purchase tickets ($25.00) visit http://tinyurl.com/mxbefzk.

The reception will be emceed by NBC Investigative Reporter, Willard Sheppard. 2013 Honorees include: George Castrataro of the Law Offices of George Castrataro, Lori Scott of “The Achievables” , Miami Beach City Commissioner Michael Gongora, New York Times Bestselling Author Laura Duksta, alongside community media partners She Magazine and Mark’s List.

The organization is excited to welcome Dr. Bober as a special guest speaker. “Bullying remains a complex social phenomenon, which has an impact on virtually all aspects of society, said Psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Bober, Medical Director of Pediatric Psychiatry at Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital. “We must continue to pursue evidence based interventions and public policy changes to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all of our children.”

The purpose of the reception is to continue fundraising efforts which allows NVEEE to sponsor bullying and harassment prevention workshops throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Education is an essential component of how NVEEE engages families and communities in moving towards social change. In four years, NVEEE has reached over 15,000 students, parents, educators and administrators through its signature “Not on My Watch” School-wide Bullying & Harassment Prevention Program, and was recently featured on an episode of ABC’s “Secret Millionaire” for their work in the community.

Their signature “Not On My Watch” Bullying & Harassment Prevention Program teaches students social skills, how to model specific actions, and demonstrates ways of being and behaving that can empower students to reduce peer-harassment, as well as reduce self-harm. “Not On My Watch” serves as a catalyst to support peer-led intervention to alter school cultures around bullying. Additionally, Workshop Surveys are used to assess the school’s and community’s specific needs, and to capture data unique to each school’s social and ecological frameworks — a practice recommended in leading bullying prevention research.

This work would not be possible without the support of continued sponsors including: Kaufman, Rossin & Co., Printhouse USA, Erin Mia Milchman, Brasileiro Restaurant, Miami Events Photobooth, Sky High Design, Freedom Concierge Services, Tito’s Vodka and Allure Rejuvenation and Anti-Aging Spa.

About NVEEE:

City Theatre will host an intimate business lunch with Chris Matthews, anchor of MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews” and the NBC-syndicated “The Chris Matthews Show” on Monday, November 25, 2013. A television commentator with remarkable depth and breadth of experience, Mr. Matthews will share his in-depth political analysis, fiery opinions and sharp humor about politics, the arts, and his new book, “Tip and the Gipper: When Politics Worked”.

Matthews will begin his talk at 12 p.m. at Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A., 150 West Flagler Street, Suite 2200, Miami, FL. Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit City Theatre’s 2013-2014 Season.

Matthews has been following American politics since his teenage years and started working in the U.S. Senate after a term in the Peace Corps. He has worked as a presidential speechwriter in the White House and as top aide to Speaker of the House Thomas P. “Tip” O’Neill Jr. (D-Mass.).

In the late 1980s, Matthews switched to full-time journalism as Washington Bureau Chief for the San Francisco Examiner before turning his career to television. He launched “Hardball” in 1997 and the show has been on the air every weekday night since. In 2002, NBC premiered Sunday morning’s “The Chris Matthews Show.”

He’s the author of five best-selling books, in addition to the 2011 release “Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero” and the featured book, a personal history about conservative President Ronald Reagan (served 1981-1989) and liberal Speaker Tip O’Neill. As a top aide to O’Neill, Matthews saw firsthand how the two political leaders forged compromises that shaped America’s future and became one of history’s most celebrated political pairings-the epitome of how ideological opposites can get things done.

This event is made possible by Artistic Directing Sponsor Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A. Producing Sponsors include Colson Hicks Eidson, Dimond Kaplan & Rothstein, P.A. and the Miami HEAT. Directing Sponsors include: Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Apollo Bank, Aventura Limousine, Benihana, Books & Books, Gelber Schachter & Greenberg, P.A., Key Biscayne Community Foundation and Wicker Smith O’Hara McCoy & Ford, P.A.

CU-1 Gallery and BlinkGroup are proud to present “Angels” – An Exhibition by artist Todd Brittingham. Brittingham will be debuting at the prestigious CU-1 Gallery located in Downtown Miami from Thursday, November 15th through Wednesday, November 27 th. Opening Reception will be held on November 15, 2013 at 7PM.

The CU-1 Gallery is a 5,500 square foot facility, located in the iconic Security Building in downtown Miami that opened this year in early June. The gallery emphasizes the integration of art and life. In addition to bringing contemporary European photography to Miami this gallery encourages a holistic experience of the works it exhibits.

In keeping with that tradition, CU-1 Gallery welcomes artist Todd Brittingham who will be exhibiting his newest work titled “Angels” which he describes as an exploration of forms in space. It is the combination of his love for the female form together with his appreciation of nature that is the genesis of this series which fuses those two concepts together.

The sculptures are cast in bronze through an ancient lost wax process and finished in a unique patina which brings life to his forms. Brittingham’s combination of human and animalistic sculptures gives off a simultaneously spiritual and sensual feeling for the viewer.

Todd Brittingham’s exhibition is partnered with Blink Group, (A marketing firm for visual artists) and hosted and curated by Elizabeth Reyes and Alexandra Novaro, co-founders of BlinkGroup.

Arriving just in time for the holidays, Mouse King – a delightfully entertaining family friendly musical – will make its World Premiere with two special performances at Miami’s Mandelstam Theater (8530 SW 57th Ave, South Miami, FL 33143) on Friday, December 13 at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, December 14 at 3 p.m.

Conceived and created by renowned puppeteer Noel MacNeal – a leading light behind television’s Sesame Street and Disney’s Bear in the Big Blue House – and featuring original music written by South Florida’s highly acclaimed musician and composer Jim Camacho, Mouse King revisits the story of the seasonal favorite The Nutcracker, while adding an entirely different twist.

This original stage spectacular tells the story of The Nutcracker from an as-yet unseen perspective – the point of view of the mice characters – and, in the process, gives that perennial classic an imaginative new emphasis through the lens of modern musical theater. A cast of professional performers and puppeteers and supported by a group of local child actors has been specially selected to bring this family-friendly holiday production to life.

Tickets for Mouse King cost $20 and can be obtained via Brown Paper Tickets: http://mousekingmusical.brownpapertickets.com or 800.838.3006.

ABOUT THE CREATORS

Noel MacNeal launched his career performing on PBS’s award-winning Sesame Street, where he honed his craft with puppetry legends Jim Henson and Frank Oz. He’s been a performer on Sesame Street for almost thirty years and trains puppeteers in Japan, Mexico, South Africa, Jordan, Palestine, and India and, most recently, Pakistan, for the Sesame Workshop international co-productions of Sesame Street. Noel has also performed with the classic Muppets of The Muppet Show.

For the past decade, Noel has been the spirit and voice of Bear, the gentle and lovable star of the Emmy Award-winning series Disney’s Bear in the Big Blue House and the Disney Channel morning series, Breakfast with Bear. In 2003, Noel received a Daytime Emmy Nomination as Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series.

His repertoire of characters also includes Kako on the Nick Jr. series Oobi and Blue on Nick Jr.’s Blue’s Room. Other roles include Magellan on the award-winning series Eureeka’s Castle on Nick Jr., Madame Chairbird in the film Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird, Rabbit for Disney Channel’s Emmy Award-winning series The Book of Pooh, Leon on PBS’ The Puzzle Place, and Knock-Knock on The Great Space Coaster. In addition, he’s performed with and/or for: Woody Allen, Bill Cosby, Whoopie Goldberg, Jerry Lewis, Mickey Rooney, Emma Thompson, Wayne Brady, Dave Chappelle, Donny and Marie Osmond, Gilbert Godfrey, Tom Bergeron, Regis and Kelly, and Matt Lauer and Katie Couric. (But not all at once.)

In addition to performing, Noel is a television writer whose scripts have been featured on PBS Kids Sprout’s The Goodnight Show, Disney Channel’s Bear in the Big Blue House, PBS’ The Puzzle Place, The Magic School Bus and Cyberchase, and Nickelodeon’s Eureeka’s Castle and Gullah Gullah Island. He is also a script adviser and consultant for the international versions of Sesame Street, as well as a television director, having directed episodes of Bear in the Big Blue House and PBS Kids Sprout’s The Good Night Show. More recently, he’s added the role of author to his resume with his new, puppet-making book “Ten Minute Puppets with Noel MacNeal,” from Workman Publishing.

Jim Camacho is one of South Florida’s most renowned singers, songwriters and multi-talented musicians. The recent release of a new five-song EP entitled Everywhere (Forward Motion/Broken Records) marked his first collection of new songs since his critically acclaimed album Beachfront Defeat in 2009. It provides yet another example of Camacho’s extraordinary talents, skills he’s demonstrated in his recordings and concerts, as well as his active involvement in theater, film, television, and radio. The recipient of numerous awards – including New Times kudos for “Best Songwriter” and “Best Acoustic Performer,” as well as the publication’s recognition for “Best Album” of 2009 – Camacho has not only been an integral part of the South Florida music scene since the late ‘80s, but also an emerging talent on the national stage.

Camacho marked his entry into theatrical realms, and specifically the musical stage, with his well-received original musical, Fools’ Paradise. The production was previewed in Miami and New York, and a full scale workshop — directed and choreographed by the celebrated artistic wunderkind Jonathan Cerullo — received a full staging. That was followed by Camacho’s second original musical, Guru, which had its preview in Miami. More recently, he created, composed and premiered the critically acclaimed children’s musical The Cavie Islanders & The Troll and later created a children’s adaptation of his original musical Guru entitled The Guru of Gir. The original scores of both of these are to be released on Y&T Records.

Not content to stop there, Camacho worked with Emmy Award-nominated producer and puppeteer Noel MacNeal (Sesame Street, The Muppets) when the two men collaborated on the musical “Tales of Amazing Tricksters” which was performed at New York’s Bronx Zoo in 2012 and their new musical “The Beasts of The Magical World” is currently running there and receiving rave reviews from children and adults alike.

Camacho first made his mark with The Goods, a band that was widely-acknowledged as one of the most impressive outfits to emerge from Florida’s southernmost realms. Protégés of the late, legendary producer Tom Dowd, the band released five albums throughout the ‘90s, including the iconic rock opera 5 Steps to Getting Signed, which won the prestigious “Album of the Year” honors at the Florida Jammy Awards. The single “I’m Not Average” from their critically acclaimed album Mint, reached number one on the Radio & Record charts in Florida, and eventually led to a major label signing with a division of Polygram Records and an extraordinary biographical documentary which aired on VH1.

Continuing to expound upon the engagingly melodic stance he procured with The Goods, Camacho went on to release three highly anticipated solo albums in the new millennium, garnering the Gold Remi award in the Music Video category at the 40th Annual WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival for his song titled “Houdini.” Camacho also contributed to several film and television soundtracks, including the Grammy-nominated, “Tom Dowd & the Language of Music,” Paris Hilton’s “Pledge This,” and “Fatboy,” nominated for “Best Use of Music in a Documentary” accolades at the Sundance Film Festival. What’s more, his song “I Don’t Need You Anymore” (from the album Beachfront Defeat) was featured prominently in the soundtrack for the hit ABC family show “Pretty Little Liars.”

Miami is the #1 most vulnerable city to sea level rise. Miami’s HighWaterLine Project in partnership with the Magic City Bicycle Collective are organizing a bike ride through the streets of Miami to tour our future waterfront considering 6 feet of sea level rise projected by the end of the century. Arrive 30 minutes early if you need your tires pumped, or if you need minor bicycle adjustments.

Please wear as much blue as possible on this ride. We will be filmed from the air for a short video on climate change resilience in Miami. Your participation in this event will communicate to our elected officials that you care about this issue.

The ride ends at Blackbird Ordinary, where all cyclists wearing blue can partake in free food and beer.

The HighWaterLine Project is a public art project that brings awareness of climate change by chalking the future sea level line. Chalking the line in Miami will occur on November 13, 14, and 17 in the morning. Go to https://www.facebook.com/ResilientMiami for more information.

If you’re allergic to the metric system, corn starch, or unbridled joy, you’d probably be more comfortable watching Matlock than at the starting blocks of this color-filled 5k.

But if you’re itching for a great time and not from a bad case of diaper rash, Color Me Rad Miami is the run for you.

By intelligent design or evolution, man was meant to run for one thing and one thing only: to stay alive. Pamplona was the first real race organized for what running should be: running from stuff that’s going to kill, gore, or maim you.

Luckily, we’ve evolved to where we only hunt for attractive potential mates, we only gather for extreme couponing, and we only run to benefit charities and our cardiovascular system.

So quit lollygagging and join us for the race that’s been ruining all other 5Ks since 2012 at Color Me Rad Miami .

Color Me Rad: gluten-free running since 2012 (all previous years were full of gluten).
