Experience a whole new take on Art Basel with the Fearless Artist Pop Up Gallery tonight! This exciting and unique event brings together over 35 artists from all over the world together in the same space. Last year’s successful pop-up gallery hosted artists and provided over 7,000 visitors, a totally different Art Basel experience from all the other galleries around.
Tonight will feature a “Latin Night†where hosts Sebastian ‘Blue Hart’ and Monique ‘MOMO’, who currently released her remix of ‘El Perdon’ featuring Pitbull, will set the mood for an exciting Basel night. Dust 01 is one of the first events dedicated to the Miami Burmingman community, the goal is to spread our believes and love through art and music and create a strong bridge to bring local artist to Burningman. We aim to raise funds towards making our next year’s affair extraordinary and to bring local artists together to help us create art that will decorate our camp. Your monetary contributions, more specifically, will help us in the creation of our communal areas including dance floor, sound system, art installations, shower, evaporation systems, kitchen, and lounge area. There will be different mediums and paint provided for you let your creative side shine if you wish. The Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library (friendsofmdpl.org) will host the 24th annual Book Sale Dec. 9 – 12 at the main branch of the Miami-Dade County Public Library System, 101 W. Flagler St., in downtown Miami.
The proceeds from the four-day sale, which run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will benefit the Miami-Dade Public Library System. Friends, a nonprofit run by volunteers, will sell thousands of books, DVDs and CDs that were donated over the past year.
Book prices are $1 for paperbacks and $3 for hardcover books, with specialty books, DVDs and CDs priced separately. All buyers will receive a complimentary ticket to visit History Miami’s exhibit Operation Pedro Pan: The Cuban Children’s Exodus.
“Our goal is support the library system and ensure its growth, and to get more books in the hands of people in our community,†said Lynn Summers, chair of the organization.

The opening exhibit will highlight the works of Mexican fine and graffiti artist Ciler. This solo show, called “PONZOÑA,†is the second one he’s had in the U.S and prior to that his work has appeared in various galleries around the world including Barcelona, Italy, Mexico, London and New York City. Ciler’s unapologetic work is best known for the defacement and manipulation of existing images with an often-dark archaeological intent to unearth today’s dysfunctional society. His unique use of collages, paintings, drawings and installation work are filled with death, drama and violence.

Taking place at Books & Books Coral Gables, Randall will give a brief presentation followed by a Q&A and casual discussions with fellow scientists, researchers and professional in particle physics and cosmology.
A member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Randall studies theoretical particle physics and cosmology at Harvard University. Her research connects theoretical insights to puzzles in our current understanding of the properties and interactions of matter. In her newest book, Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs: The Astounding Interconnectedness of the Universe, Randall tells the story of the history of our Earth, from the history of the cosmos to that of the galaxy, the Solar System, and even of life – and, of course, the story of the dinosaur extinction. Lisa Randall’s studies have made her among the most cited and influential theoretical physicists and she has received numerous awards and honors for her scientific endeavors. Kreemart presents Alexandre Arrechea at CIFO Miami Art Basel 2015. In collaboration, Kreemart and Arrechea are exploring a series of written word sentences translating into sounds that one might encounter in daily life provoking a sense of nostalgia.
Sounds that one may or may have not actually experienced are being brought as a challenge and in order to encounter this experience, we invite our audience to break free from contained boxes. This may be seen as a liberation of contained memories or dream like states that reside in the psyche. Once unleashed, can written word provoke the imagination enough for someone to actually experience sound through silence?
These sentences are phrases that are meant to arouse or keep our curiosity. The act of hitting with a hammer reveals another blow, another friction and echoing each sentence that runs in our memory as a sound.
The boxes containing each sound are made of sugar. Our audience may taste the fondant or just let it go it go on the floor. The exploration is abstraction of taste through sound. The taste here is not be the central experience but the abstraction of it.

The Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, one of the most applauded ballet companies in South Florida, continues their successful 2015-2016 season with the presentation of the classic Christmas Ballet most anticipated by the whole family, “The Nutcrackerâ€, performing in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale under the direction of the Master Vladimir Issaev.
“The Nutcracker†ballet, the most popular holiday treat of all, tells the story of Clara, who on Christmas Eve decides to make a journey at the hand of her beloved Nutcracker, who comes to life and battles with the evil Mouse King, and helps Clara reach the land of the Sweets.
WHERE ALL BEGINS
Originally, it all started in Russia when Ivan Vsevolozhky, who was director of the Imperial Theatres, commissioned “The Nutcracker†to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composer of successful ballets like Sleeping Beauty and the Queen of Spades (PÃkovaya dama). Marius Petipa, responsible for the original choreography and then Director of Ballet of St. Petersburg, made the stage dramatization of the original story of Ernest Hoffman.
However, it wasn’t until a year later that this piece came to be released, and the Petipa choreography could not be finished because she fell ill. The Nutcracker world premiere was on December 18, 1892, at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, and it wasn’t until 1934 that it was given performances outside of Russia.

This staging features original choreography by Master Issaev, while maintaining the traditional lines of the Russian ballet. Through the years Issaev also managed a ballet group that is headed today by Miami’s prima ballerina, Venezuelan Mary Carmen Catoya who, this year, will dance the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy for Issaev!
Ms. Catoya, who joined the company in August 2015, has brought the best experience of her dancing to the Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida which, this December, celebrates 18 years of forming new generations of ballet lovers in South Florida.
Mary Carmen Catoya will alternate the role of the Sugarplum Fairy with the leading players Lillian Hill, Hinano Eto and Aya Baba and their princes, Hernan Montenegro and Ramil Bagmanov, who will perform at both the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center and the Parker Playhouse in Ft. Lauderdale.
On December 18th, the traditional Nutcracker Gala will be held at the Parker Playhouse in Ft. Lauderdale to benefit the non-profit company, where VIP guests that attend can enjoy a Pre Show reception where wines from the Alanis and Joaquin Rebolledo cellars will be offered, accompanied by sparkling of Fragamoura. Guests will also be meeting the dancers, and will have the opportunity to participate in a Silent Auction, with prizes that range from a trip to the Bahamas, to fine jewelry, sports memorabilia and holiday baskets.

Kicking off the Miami Art Week, Ricieri Art Studio presents a red carpet night for a unique exhibition featuring the Italian-Brazilian Artist Roberto Ricieri on December 1. The Emotions of R. Ricieri will display over 100 works by the artist, including his highly regarded Infinity Series of paintings, as well as sculptures and drawings. Attendees will also enjoy a hardcover book with five of his collections, a documentary movie, his own testimony about his time in captivity and how it led to him becoming an artist.
Born in 1959 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Ricieri has created more than 1,000 paintings, using acrylic on canvas, along drawing with pencil and carbon. He discovered his style and way of thinking about art in prison, which affected his work with real life inspiration and deep emotion. Admired by many, Ricieri never attended art school. As an entrepreneur, he often traveled to Europe and North America where he spent much of his time observing the masters of art in museums around the world.
The Infinity Collections by R. Ricieri are a collaboration between the Tara Art Collection Sylvia White Gallery of Los Angeles California and the Noel Santiesteban. This exhibition beautifully combines his innovative work with fascinating aspects of his life in captivity. The 130-page book titled “Ricieri: The Art Born from Captivity†will be released at the event for purchase. The publication includes 80 full-color paintings by the artist.

California based artist, Blair Martin Cahill exhibits sculptures and other works that present a completely unique art series, from December 2-6, 2015 at SPECTRUM Miami located in the Arts + Entertainment District. Cahill’s work explores the fragile and impermeable through the juxtaposition of dissimilar materials in her work, such as steel and silk, making it clear that strength should not be judged by perception alone. Her new work, which will be debuted at SPECTRUM Miami, is a concise collection of sculptural embroidery with a definite contemporary edge. With Sphere 30, Cahill employs embroidery with vivid sculptural effects — rich blue, greens and silvers permeate delicate silk suspended within a dissected sphere of stainless steel. Suspended over a highly polished base of metal, the sphere appears to glow from within. The center rings of Sphere 30 (48″ W X 80″ L X 45″ H) are some of the largest embroidered areas to ever have been produced. Being shown for the first time, See no Evil, highlights three Japanese ladies embroidered on almost translucent silk in a folding screen of maple and brushed aluminum. The ladies gaze from the screen intently, watching but not passing judgment as they speak, see and hear no evil. Cahill has exhibited extensively this year in the United States and abroad including Apricot Gallery London, UK; Amsterdam International Art Fair; and Governor’s Island Art Fair, New York City; Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Los Angeles California; Art San Diego, San Diego California.

The collection, which traveled from the Leica Gallery in Los Angeles, represents a four-month long project on the wild cliffs of northern California that captures the collaboration of Henthorne’s epic exposure Waterscapes combined with the Earthscapes of artist Andres Amador. The exhibition runs from December 3 – January 6 and the opening reception/book signing by Henthorne and appearance by Andres Amador is on December 3rd from 6-9 pm.

The history of the Frescobaldi family begins during the same period as the birth of the banking industry in Medieval Florence. The Frescobaldis quickly became the absolute protagonists of political and economic life, earning themselves the right to the title “treasurers to the English Crown”.
The Frescobaldi family started in wine production in Florence at the beginning of the 1300s and quickly garnered a reputation for the highest quality wine. By the 1500’s, the Frescobaldi wines were served at the tables of the Papal Court and the English Court of Henry the Eighth.
In conjunction with Art Basel, the night will feature a display of Alessandro Reggioli, a young and established Italian artist from Florence, whose work was inspired by Leonardo’s lifelong study of the flight and the human heart.

The Block Party will showcase some of the world’s top street artists including Ghost (NY), GIZ (NY), Case Maclaim (Germany), Shok1 (England), Atomik (Florida), Lola Blu (Florida), Crash One TATS CRU (NY), Don Rimx (Florida), Sipros (Brazil), James Cochran (Australia), Aiko (US/Japan), SPOK (Spain), Hoxxoh (Florida) and Trek6 (Florida), to name a few. These artists will transform the RC Cola Plant with an entire body of new murals and paintings. Artists will be painting live throughout the four-day event. In addition, The Heineken® Mobile Art Experience will make a stop with their branded truck, which will feature a rotating canvas on the outside and a fully stocked art store and gallery on the inside. In addition, a free concert series featuring Fat Joe and other hip hop legends will add to the colorful backdrop. DJ’s, arts & craft vendors will also be present. It wouldn’t be Wynwood without the Food Trucks, so Basel House has secured a swarm of South Florida favorites; from lobster to hot dogs, you name it, they’ll be serving it up!
Curating the collaboration is Joe Ficalora of the Bushwick Collective from Brooklyn. The Bushwick Collective was born on the streets of Brooklyn as a way for Joe to cope with personal tragedy. The Collective transformed a large section of the Bushwick neighborhood into a colorful and vibrant work of urban art. Many of those artists will be making the trip to Miami to help launch the Wynwood location of the Mana Urban Arts Project. “We are proud to showcase some of the best artists from around the world, and we hope to inspire the masses,†explains Joe.

The new Cirque du Soleil touring show inspired by James Cameron’s record-breaking movie AVATAR, TORUK – The First Flight, will be presented at the BB&T Center in Sunrise on March 3-6, 2016 and at the American Airlines Arena in Miami on March 10-13, 2016, as part of a global tour in arenas around the world starting November 2015. The show
TORUK – The First Flight is a live immersive multimedia spectacle that brings to the stage the breathtaking world of James Cameron’s AVATAR like you have never seen it before.
Through a riveting fusion of cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft buoyed by a soaring cinematic score, Cirque du Soleil applies its unique signature style to James Cameron’s imaginary world and “makes the bond” between two kindred artistic visions that capture the imagination.
This live immersive experience also bears the distinct signature of directors and multimedia innovators Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon. It is a living ode to the Na’vi’s symbiotic coexistence with nature and their belief in the basic interconnectedness of all living things.
Narrated by a “Na’vi Storyteller” and populated by unforgettable characters, TORUK – The First Flight is a mythical tale set thousands of years before the events depicted in the film AVATAR, and before any humans ever set foot on Pandora.
When a natural catastrophe threatens to destroy the sacred Tree of Souls, Ralu and Entu, two Omaticaya boys on the brink of adulthood, fearlessly decide to take matters into their own hands. Upon learning that Toruk can help them save the Tree of Souls, they set out, together with their newfound friend Tsyal, on a quest high up in the Floating Mountains to find the mighty red and orange predator that rules the Pandoran sky. Prophecy is fulfilled when a pure soul rises among the clans to ride Toruk for the first time and save the Na’vi from a terrible fate.
