Little Dreamers receive private lessons, and coaching and will perform live at the annual Dreaming on the Beach Gala. Caveman Cult has been relentlessly churning out some of the most savage death metal to come out of Florida over the past couple of years, gaining notoriety in death and black metal circles worldwide. Since 2014 the band has released two renowned demos, and played a handful of gigs in Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana. 2016 will see the release of their milestone debut full length “Savage War Is Destiny” as well as a vinyl re-issue of their second more obscure demo “Barbaric Bloodlust”. The band will also play this years notorious Cathedral Of The Black Goat festival which takes place in Chicago every October showcasing some of the most obscure and elite death and black metal acts from all over the world.

Kicking off the series on Friday, June 10 is Sundown Grillout, an outdoor feast off the Lynx Grill featuring pairings by Wines of Germany with special attention to Riesling varietals. The talents, dedication and skills of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade alumni have affected the South Florida community and beyond in the areas of sports, entertainment, business, medicine, politics, justice, art, education and more. What a year it’s been for American country singer-songwriter Brandy Clark. Clark has garnered nominations for the 2015 CMA Awards, ACM Awards and Grammy Awards, and won the Country Music Association award for Song of the Year for co-writing the hit “Follow Your Arrowâ€. Clark’s first single from her new album, “Girl Next Door†was recently released and has made it to several Top 40 Country lists. On Memorial Day weekend, Clark will be performing live at Seminole May 28, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. with a free Line Dancing Class on the Seminole Theatre Terrace at 6:00 p.m., where you can learn custom dances to some of Clark’s own songs that you will hear later in the concert.
Opening Act Levon’s lead singer and guitarist Michael Hall remembers his father listening to country and 70’s rock bands and thinking, “This is the kind of music people want to get back to, music I want to get back to. Honest lyrics and memorable melodies. Hopefully our music speaks to that,†he says. With influences like Pure Prairie League, CSN, Keith Urban and The Eagles, Levon’s sound is a combination of “Then†and “Nowâ€.

Do you know sources of funding for your cause other than grants?
We invite you to join us for breakfast and networking to discuss funding issues with Tom Schramm, from Schramm & Associates.
Grant funding is often the initial funding an organization receives to get started. However, grants should not be the only source of funding to sustain an organization and to fund its growth. This workshop will identify funding sources other than grants and look in particular at two that provide the greatest return on the investment of your time and effort but that you may not have considered for your organization.
About the Presenter:
Thomas Schramm, a Professional in Residence at the Center for Social Change, has 29 years of fundraising experience in healthcare, arts, education, environmental and wildlife, social services and humanitarian organizations in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties. He specializes in major gift fundraising including capital, comprehensive, and annual campaigns. He leads major gift workshops for nonprofit organizations to prepare development staff, and executive and volunteer leaders to implement major gifts fundraising as apart of their fundraising plan.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade is gearing up to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its annual black-tie “Wild About Kids†Gala on Nov. 12, 2016 at The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne. Proceeds will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s many positive programs, including after school programs, homework assistance, computer training, social skills, dance, arts & crafts, professional mentoring, and summer and athletic programs, for area children who need them the most.

To ensure children have access to food during summer, Feeding South Florida®, the leading domestic hunger-relief organization in the South Florida region, is hosting its 2nd annual End Summer Hunger Sort-a-Thon on Saturday, June 18 at its main warehouse in Pembroke Park in Broward County. Volunteers — 100 maximum per shift — will sort donated food. Individuals and groups are welcome.
Throughout Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, the counties which Feeding South Florida serves, 280,630 children are in need of food assistance. Many children rely on a nutritious breakfast and lunch through the National School Lunch Program and are at risk of suffering from hunger during summer break.
Sort-A-Thons are popular volunteer events for locals and corporations. There is no cost to participate, but registration is required, please visit www.feedingsouthflorida.org to register.

Winner of the 2006 International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition, and the 2004 National Trumpet Jazz Competition, Jean Caze has emerged as one of today’s most exciting new voices in jazz. At the age of twenty-seven Jean has performed with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Najee, Arturo Sandoval, Roberta Flack, Al Jarreau, and George Duke, to name a few. Jean also played with the legendary rock group “Chicago†live on NBC (while in high school), and has opened for the Wynton Marsalis Quartet. Most recently, the Haitian-born trumpeter won second place in the 2007 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. Jean has received abundant praise from critics, peers and jazz enthusiasts alike who have taken to Jean’s lyrical tone and tasteful ideas. He has been hailed a “true improviser†and even compared to Miles Davis by fellow trumpet player Carl Saunders. Though his roots are solidly planted in jazz, Jean can flawlessly switch between genres. Liberty City based Miami Children’s Initiative (MCI), a local nonprofit organization working to break the cycle of poverty by investing in each child and their families will host its signature 4th annual “Over the Edge†fundraiser June 3 & 4, 2016, to raise money and awareness and supporting programs for children from 3-18 years old residing in Liberty City. This thrilling event challenges supporters to rappel 19 stories (200 feet!) down the. About the Bird Road Art Walk:
Five years strong, the Bird Road Art Walk continues to bring artists and collectors together. On the 3rd Saturday of each month, artists’ open their studios, along with alternative spaces and galleries that dot the industrial area along SW 74 Ave & SW 75 Ave.
The event features a broad range of contemporary, emerging and established artists working in a variety of mediums ranging from photography to sculpture, mixed media, conceptual art, ceramics, drawing, painting etc… art and unique items for all tastes and budgets.

The event is organized and funded by the Bird Road Art District, Inc., a non-profit volunteer based organization.

Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, has announced it will host a series of educational workshops from June 6- 10 to prepare local business owners for the upcoming hurricane season. With a total of 14 named storms, eight hurricanes and three major hurricanes predicted for the 2016 storm season, this year is expected to be the most active season Florida has seen since 2012 according to a recent forecast from The Weather Company’s Professional Division.
These seminars are open to the public and will be hosted by the firm’s team members specializing in insurance, real estate and construction litigation. The workshops will focus on an array of topics aimed to prepare the community in the unfortunate event of a disaster.

The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, or MOCA, presents award-winning trumpet player Jean Caze as part of the monthly Jazz at MOCA series. In 2006, the Haitian-born trumpeter released his first album, Miami Jazz Scene. He has gone on to open for Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, and Jimmy Heath and in 2010, he accepted a position in Michael Bublé’s touring band. His latest album, Amédé, was released in 2015 to glowing reviews.
Caze has been awarded many scholarships to attend some of the country’s top musical institutions, including Juilliard’s Music Advancement Program where he received his first formal training and the Queens College Center for Preparatory Studies in Music Program. Caze is the winner of the 2006 International Trumpet Guild Jazz Competition and won second place in the 2007 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition.

Proxy Selves is a poetry/creative nonfiction workshop that will explore and give voice to the multitudes of self contained within each writer.
Participants will explore how relationships, politics, setting, time and other factors alter others’ perception of us as individuals, and how projection of self is altered under different circumstances. Participants can expect to produce a series of short poetry/creative nonfiction pieces, gain inspiration for further writing after the workshop concludes, and become more comfortable with developing a drafting process.
Writers of any level are welcome. This generative workshop is designed to silence the inner critic that plagues most writers, and allow access to an uninhibited writing voice–or as Whitman might phrase it, sound a “barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world.â€

Yo Miami and artist Kareem David Piper are pleased to announce the opening reception for “Metaxy and the Magic City.” Concrete Beach Brewery will be providing refreshments for the opening and closing receptions, occurring respectively on May 21st, 2016 and July 21st 2016. Music will be by Kwesi Kris. Kareem’s work reflects the contemporary human condition of existing in a transient state. His work questions the true depth of these relationships created with people and places which are encountered only in passing. They evoke a feeling of internal splitting or dislocation, and force the viewer to question how they perceive their own reality. This body of work reflects Piper’s feelings and perceptions of various social settings and transient scenes he encounters on a daily basis while living in Miami. The depicted images are sourced from photos the artist has taken while riding the Miami Dade Metrorail. The Metrorail is very close to the artist’s studio, and is itself very symbolic of the transient state that exists here in Miami. This exhibition serves as a celebration and validation of the Master of Fine Art in painting degree he will be receiving this year from MIU. His studio can be found in downtown Miami at 500 NE 1st Ave, Miami, FL 33132 and is available for visits by appointment only.

Step back in time for a vintage-inspired cultural immersion at Swyngwood in Miami’s cultural arts epicenter, Wynwood on May 20, 2016. Swyngwood’s mission is to inspire social change by bringing people together for deeper human connections through vintage swing dance and its culture.
In the 1940s, segregation was commonplace, but several Historians credit swing dance and music for leading the way to integration, bridging the gaps between communities. South Florida Lindy Collective (SFLC) aims to bridge gaps that continue to exist today. Swing dance instruction will encourage attendees to meet their neighbors, rotate partners, and make new friends to build a stronger sense of community.
