This year, Aqua Girl will host its first ever “aquaSOUNDS†fundraising concert to benefit Aqua Foundation’s LGBTQ Youth Homelessness Initiative. The concert will take place at Grand Central on Saturday, May 17th, just before the infamous Temptation dance party.
All bands featured in the concert are from South Florida and are connected to the local LGBTQ community. The local bands will warm up the crowd for headliner Beverly McClellan of NBC’s “The Voice†who will perform as the closing act. A soulful rock singer with honest lyrics and a raw sound, McClellan plays more than 10 instruments and has already released five independent albums since her appearance on the hit show.
The Aqua LGBTQ Youth Homelessness Initiative funds crucial services for the homeless LGBTQ youth population in Miami-Dade County. As much as 40% of the homeless youth population in Miami-Dade is LGBTQ. This means that compared to the general population, the LGBTQ community is vastly over-represented among the homeless youth population.

CIS of Miami’s largest fundraiser is their annual gala, and this year’s event slated for Saturday, April 26th will be a black-tie affair to remember, commemorating CIS of Miami’s silver anniversary and 25 years of service in Miami-Dade. The theme of the gala is “an evening among the starsâ€, which pays tribute to the CIS of Miami students (stars) who have successfully graduated high school since the organization’s inception. Features live music, student performances, dinner, and silent auction.
Full: Every nine seconds of each school day, a young person drops out of high school in the U.S., and nearly one-third fail to graduate on time. For the past 25 years, Communities In Schools of Miami (CIS of Miami) has been a driving force in collaborating with Miami-Dade County Public Schools to improve educational outcomes by providing free programs and tools to keep students in class and on track toward graduation.

The event takes place in a ballroom at the Epic Hotel overlooking downtown Miami’s skyline and Biscayne Bay. The evening starts with a sunset cocktail hour at 6:30 p.m. where guests can bid on luxury, silent auction items including all-inclusive vacation packages; bowling and lunch for 10 with Al Golden, University of Miami’s head football coach; jewelry; dinners; spa treatments and more. Guests will enjoy a three-course dinner followed by live music and entertainment by CIS of Miami “starsâ€.
Local CBS TV evening anchor and producer Cynthia Demos will preside as the master of ceremonies alongside a CIS of Miami junior MC. They will welcome CIS national founder, Bill Milliken, a recipient of the Visionary Ambassador’s Award from Usher’s “New Look Foundation†and the National Jefferson Award for Public Service, which is widely regarded as the Nobel Prize for outstanding community and public service.
Tickets for the annual philanthropic event are $200 each, and all proceeds directly benefit CIS of Miami. In 2013, CIS’ gala raised more than $100,000 to fund dropout prevention programs for local students including after school programs, tutoring, mentoring and other programs. For her first live performance in the U.S., Trinidadian artist Akuzuru will debut an interdisciplinary work in two acts over two days, evoking themes of fertility and interconnectivity. The complex piece will include horses, as well as dancers who will carry out extended interventions around the exterior and interior of the Museum. Akuzuru describes in her personalized vocabulary, the latest opus in her series of fertility movements, “TRANCE –FORMATIONS: Doucement…… l’Eau por L’ORI†(Slowly……Water for the ORI) as having two “ak-ts†during two successive days.

Transnational Histories consists of four panels that correspond to the central themes of the exhibition: Fluid Motions, Counterpoints, Shades of History, and Kingdoms of this World. These panels bring together exceptional scholars, curators, and artists, who respond to diverse geographical, chronological, and cultural contexts of the Caribbean.
Each panel will pair a scholar or curator with an artist. Each of the participants will present an individual paper or talk on the given topic and then have a moderated conversation with one another. The symposium will begin with a Thursday evening reception to celebrate the exhibition, “Caribbean: Crossroads of the World,†during which the public will see the first act of a two part performance by artist Akuzuru. The second act will take place during the symposium on Friday.

Life Is Art presents Art/Work Connections #18: Instagram Tips with Anthony Jordon at Eleazar Delgado Studio on Tuesday, April 15, 2014.  Art/Work Connections is a monthly series of seminars presented by Life Is Art featuring business professionals speaking on a variety of topics vital to the success of working artists. This month, Anthony Jordon, professional photographer and social media expert, taught us all about Instagram, one of the fastest growing social media platforms.
Anthony is a Miami-based photographer specializing in engagement, destination wedding, event/social, and portrait photography. In 2013, Anthony organized two major international photography events in Miami; The Scott Kelby Worldwide photowalk, the first of its in Downtown Miami, and Help Portrait Miami, partnering with the Miami Rescue Mission. Anthony has been an online moderator for Cloak Inc.’s One 12 Haiti Solidarity Virtual March, as well as a guest speaker for Photovoice. Credits include Instagram Ambassador for Scope Miami 2012, Heineken Murals/Heineken Light Project Social Media Ambassador Miami and Washington, DC (2012-2013), photographer for Eleazar Delgado, JLPR, Red Bull, GLAAD, Absolut, and Muscle Milk just to name a few. Anthony’s work has also been published in the Miami and Broward-Palm Beach New Times, Miami Magazine, miamiartzine.com and he is a current contributor to Soul Of Miami.
Originally conceived at our home, Eleazar Delgado Studio has always been the artist’s creative space. The idea grew into a gathering place for our friends, mostly artists in their own rights, to showcase their current work and preview concepts. We made it official in 2010 when we opened a public space in Wynwood. Today in addition to being Eleazar’s personal art studio, we host local talents and leaders who need a professional environment to showcase, educate, and enrich the community at large.

“Caribbean: Crossroads of the World,†opening April 18, 2014 at Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), explores the diverse cultural history of the Caribbean and its diaspora, highlighting over two centuries of rarely seen works dating from after the Haitian Revolution to the present. The exhibition is the culmination of nearly a decade of collaborative research and scholarship organized by El Museo del Barrio in conjunction with the Queens Museum and The Studio Museum in Harlem. The Miami presentation, curated for PAMM by guest curator Elvis Fuentes, is a honed reiteration of this critically-acclaimed survey and offers a vital reflection of Miami’s Caribbean community. Records stores may continue to dwindle in number and vinyl may be going the way of polar ice caps, but that cannot stop the growing international phenomenon that is Record Store Day. This year, the wax aficionado holiday lands on April 19th and one of Miami’s top live music venues Grand Central will host an event to honor Miami’s great music mom and pop shops and chains past, as well as some of the more prominent acts to emerge from the area, including Nuclear Valdez, Charlie Pickett, Jim Camacho of The Goods and Forget the Name – all for a great cause.
“It’s ironic that as the number of records stores continues to fall, Record Store Day continues to gain more momentum,†says event co-organizer and music business mainstay Alex Jimenez. “I’m excited not only about continuing the legacy established by notable record stores like Peaches Music, Specs Music, Q Records, Yesterday & Today Records, Open Books & Records, Blue Note Records and others, but to help raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s disease and research.â€
Jimenez was in part inspired by former Peaches executive and colleague Alan Jackowitz’s diagnosis and subsequent struggle with Parkinson’s.
Nuclear Valdez rose to regional and national acclaim in the late 80’s with the release of I Am I on Epic and the radio and MTV hit “Summer.†Axe man Charlie Pickett’s band The Eggs were hailed by Rolling Stone’s David Fricke as a “brawling-roots mix of Johnny Thunders, Sun Records and trailer park Lou Reed†and by R.E.M.’s Peter Buckas “one of the undiscovered giants of the late eighties.â€
Singer / songwriter / playwright Jim Camacho first came to regional and national prominence with The Goods, who were signed to Polygram Records and were featured in the music doc Tom Dowd and the Language of Music. Forget the Name enjoyed a nine-year run during the late 80s and early 90s, developed a strong following in Miami, toured the east coast and released three full-length albums of material.
There will be a special music photography digital expo curated by yet another music insider, photographer and Dig Under Rock blog head Tony Landa. The works of Jill Khan, Mindy Hertzon, Karen Widen, Laura Kokus andTeajay Smith will be shown throughout the event.
A record collector’s “swap meet” will kick off the event with top dealers offering highly prized collectibles. “This sort of blows up the concept of the Saturday morning swap meet at an area hotel conference room bringing it into an environment that really suits it well,” states Jimenez. Members of the art collective Yemenwed will screen segments of past projects, with a focus on movement and music. They will discuss the process behind the performative aspects of their work.
Yemenwed is an art collective founded in 2006 in New York City. They create collaborative works, which synthesize the artistic focus of its varying members in the fields of architecture, painting, sculpture, animation, performance, and music.
The group maintains an active interest in the vocabulary of mainstream popular culture and its conventions, as well as entertainment value and notions of beauty. Each piece invariably reflects the different personal aesthetic and conceptual interests of the individual artists forming the work.
Yemenwed has released several publications and has participated in exhibitions and performances at Palais de Tokyo, Tate Modern, MOMA P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, Portland Institute for Contemporary Art TBA:10, Performa 09, Fake Estate Gallery, 179 Canal, Hessel Museum of Art, Asia Song Society, and Jack Hanley Gallery, among other venues.
Yemenwed are PAMM Researchers-in-Residence. This is the first of three visits, culminating in a final commissioned project in October 2014.

Alberto Cabrera is the executive chef of Bread + Butter in Coral Gables, where the Miami native embraces his Cuban-American roots – taking traditional dishes and revamping them by adding a modern spin, such as his Chicharron De Puerco with a truffle-black bean puree. Cabrera learned the art of cooking as he moved up the ranks at notable kitchens including Robbin Haas’ Chispa and the Miami extension of Madrid’s La Broche. At Bread + Butter, Cabrera infuses the carefree charm of Cuba’s mambo era with the modish slant of the modern American gastropub.
Todd Erickson is the executive chef of HaVen South Beach on Lincoln Road, a futuristic electric lounge offering innovative cocktails and some of the most refined food in the city. At HaVen, Erickson takes local, organic ingredients and transforms them into a variety of global small plates from crudos to duck sliders. Erickson got his culinary start at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and from there went on to open a catering company and three four-star restaurants in Dallas, Texas. After having such a successful start with HaVen, Erickson and the Haven Hospitality Group opened Huahua’s Taqueria just down the street. Erickson has also announced HaVen will be expanding this spring to include a full dinner menu.
José MendÃn is the director of culinary operations for The Pubbelly Restaurant Group, the team who many Miami foodies credit for the local chef movement. MendÃn, a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, worked for many well-known restaurants including Nobu and Sushi Samba, before opening Pubbelly Gastropub in Miami Beach with his Pubbelly Group partners Andreas Schreiner and Sergio Navarro. Since then, the Pubbelly Group has experienced incredible success and has expanded to include four more restaurants – PB Steak, Pubbelly Sushi, Barceloneta and the newest, L’Echon Brasserie. In 2012 and again this year, MendÃn was distinguished as a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best Chef South, and most recently won Miami Cochon 555, a regional all-out pork cooking frenzy, and will compete in the Grand Cochon competition this summer.
Giorgio Rapicavoli is the executive chef of Eating House, the innovative pop-up restaurant turned Coral Gables mainstay. Rapicavoli burst onto the Miami food scene when he became the first Miami chef to win Food Network’s “Chopped†television competition. After winning the competition and $10,000 prize, Rapicavoli and business partner Alex Cassanova opened the Eating House pop-up. The venture was so successful that Eating House eventually opened as a full-time establishment at its original location in Coral Gables. In 2013, Rapicavoli was distinguished as a James Beard Award Rising Star chef semifinalist. Rapicavoli is also nominated for Culinary Innovator in this year’s ZESTtm Awards at Johnson & Wales University.
César Zapata is known as the “Stove Master and Pig Whisperer†of The Federal Food, Drink & Provisions. Facade: Historic Downtown Miami in Line Drawings, by author Damir Sinovcic, is a portrait of the architecture and development of Miami’s city center and its vicinity during the early twentieth century. Though many buildings erected during that period have been demolished or significantly altered over time, some of the most prominent structures still remain. Based on the book, the Miami Center for Architecture and Design, along with the Downtown Development Authority and author Damir Sinovcic, have created an exhibition that depicts many of Miami’s historical buildings. Free viewing Monday thru Friday, 10am – 5pm.

The book’s geographical focus encompasses the city center and neighborhoods north and east of the Miami River, as well as certain buildings north of the central business district, including Overtown and the neighborhoods near Biscayne Boulevard….
Over time, and often in the name of progress, many of Miami’s early twentieth century buildings have been demolished. HistoryMiami highlights local muralists in its newest exhibition on Miami’s burgeoning art scene. “Some Like It Hot” is the first museum exhibition created by trailblazing Wynwood artists, showcasing Miami’s popular street art movement.
Street art in Miami has exploded in popularity in recent years, with the Wynwood neighborhood becoming one of the area’s major attractions for both tourists and locals. Local artist Brandon Opalka, who curated the exhibition, says artists he recruited to participate are honored to have a museum legitimize their work.
Some of the artists that contributed exclusive works for the exhibition include 2alas, Lo Castro, George Sanchez-Calderon and the MSG Crew.

HistoryMiami’s newest exhibition, featuring Miami-inspired murals by Miami-based artists, is now open to the public.
Called Some Like It Hot, the exhibition is the first major museum/gallery showcase of Miami’s burgeoning street art scene, and was curated in collaboration with some of the art forms’ local pioneers and trailblazers: 2alas, Lo Castro, Tati Suarez, Erin Odea and the MSG Crew to name a few. Each contributed original works for the exhibit, inspired by Miami’s history.
Street art in has recently exploded in popularity and is now a definitive part of the cultural fabric in today’s Miami. The murals and outdoor pieces that dot the Wynwood/Midtown area have become major attractions for both tourists and locals alike, and have helped revitalize a once forgotten neighborhood. However, the impact the art form, and the nameless artists creating it (largely for free) have yet to be recognized by major galleries and museums in the area…until now.

New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy, honored its top donors and influential leaders during a cocktail event hosted at the One Thousand Museum by Zaha Hadid Architects sales gallery located in downtown Miami. Set under the 120 ft. custom-designed Zaha Hadid ceiling installation, which overlooks the highly anticipated Museum Park, guests enjoyed the Perrier Jouet bar and delicious hors d’oeuvres including grass-fed beef sliders and sweets by Petit Pois. Movie synopsis: “A celebration of Deep City Records, an independent label behind some of the richest music of South Florida’s soul music scene in the 1960s, this homegrown Florida story resurrects a piece of our nearly forgotten history in a rock-and-funk documentary from local filmmakers Marlon Johnson, Dennis Scholl, and Chad Tingle. Immensely talented producers and musicians such as Willie Clarke, Clarence Reid, Johnny Pearsall, Helene Smith, Betty Wright and others created and fought for a unique Florida sound in the 1960s.”
Deep City: “Birth of the Miami Sound has a compelling and galvanizing story to tell, but the zinger of this experience is the force of its soundtrack. To this day, the “Miami sound†remains wholly infectious and contagious, and to celebrate the accomplishments of the amazing musicians from a half-century ago, we will lift the screen following the end of the film for an on-stage party with DJ Spam putting a modern spin on the old Deep City sound. As you may have heard, SAVE and the ACLU of Florida have announced the filing of a groundbreaking lawsuit on behalf of eight married couples to secure recognition from the state of Florida for same-sex marriages performed out-of-state.
A pro-equality ruling would grant gay couples married in states that perform same-sex marriages access to many rights and benefits that Florida grants to opposite-sex married couples, such as Social Security survivor benefits and the right to include your spouse on your health insurance policy.

Originally conceived at our home, Eleazar Delgado Studio has always been the artist’s creative space. The Artisan Lounge presents “Meditations,” a solo exhibit featuring a dozen timeless and classically inspired paintings by artist Vesna Vera. Works of art such as Rising Star and The Hour Glass, which visually transports viewers into a state of internal reflection, comprise the theme of this open-to-the-public exhibition. Through the medium of oil on canvas, Vera’s aptly named “Meditations†series uses bold colors to convey mysterious yet ethereal notions of spiritual transcendence.

For the opening of his solo exhibition, Imagined Landscapes, Miami-based, Haitian-born artist Edouard Duval-Carrié discusses his new work with PAMM Chief Curator Tobias Ostrander.
The dialog will address Duval Carrié’s shift in aesthetic, using an uncharacteristically dark palate, as well as how he translates his references, 19th century paintings depicting Florida and the Caribbean, into his own contemporary visual language. The artist’s response to the role of images of tropical paradise, both historically and today, in obscuring economic and social disparities will emerge from the conversation.

Drawing from an expanding palette of innovative sounds, these musicians instrumentalize breath, mouth, and vocal chords to engage the physicality, variation, and sensuousness of the non-lyrical voice. C. Spencer Yeh (Brooklyn) and Stine Janvin Motland (Oslo/Berlin) improvise and compose, using the voice as a sound-making device that lies outside of speech acts and traditional modes of singing.
Established artists among a younger generation of experimental musicians, Motland and Yeh’s practices have historical precedence in movements of musique concrete, and perhaps sound poetry. Their use of non-linguistic vocal sounds in composition and improvisation may be compared to the approaches of concrete poets, who sought to elevate text above that of an impartial actor within the communication process.

On Sunday, March 16, Equality Florida Institute will present the Voice for Equality Award to multi- award-winning actress Sharon Gless and the six couples who have joined Equality Florida Institute as plaintiffs in a lawsuit to overturn Florida’s ban on marriage equality. The awards recognize the recipients’ steadfast commitment to LGBT equality and will be presented at the Equality Florida Miami Gala at the Pérez Art Museum Miami, 1103 Biscayne Boulevard.
In a year that has seen many landmark milestones and victories, the Gala will provide the LGBT community and their allies a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the momentum that is building throughout the state and throughout the nation.
“My role in Queer as Folk was a life-changer for me,†said Gless. “I thought I was totally aware of what it must be like to be gay. I knew nothing. Being ostracized; not being given the same rights that I enjoy. It’s insane. I knew then that I wanted to become active and do what I could to help. Everyone should be treated equally and be given the same privileges – including the right to marry.â€
A part-time resident of South Florida for more than 20 years, multiple Emmy and Golden Globe winner Sharon Gless has been a vocal advocate for the LGBT community for many years. In 2013 she took a leading role in Equality Florida’s Get Engaged campaign, a statewide public education campaign to build support for marriage equality in Florida. She served as Grand Marshal in the Miami Beach Pride Parade, received the Gay Icon Award at Philadelphia QFest, the PFLAG Ally award in Toronto and was honored by L.A.’s Gay & Elder Housing. Norman Lear’s People for the American Way also recognized her for her unwavering support of human rights and she is an active participant in the ongoing struggle to prevent the overturn of Roe vs. Wade.

Following last summer’s historic Supreme Court decision on DOMA, Equality Florida issued a call for potential plaintiffs to join with Equality Florida in a lawsuit seeking marriage equality in Florida. More than 1,000 people responded by signing on to GetEngaged.org. Following months of vetting and personal interviews, the six plaintiff couples were chosen. They are: Catherina Pareto & Karla Arguello, Dr. Juan Carlos Rodriguez & David Price, Vanessa & Melanie Alenier, Todd & Jeff Delmay, Summer Greene & Pamela Faerber, and Don Price Johnston & Jorge Isaias Diaz.
“These six couples have committed to a life in the spotlight, putting themselves and their families under intense scrutiny as the court case progresses,†said Nadine Smith. “They are brave, and they are courageous, taking this important step so that they, and thousands of other couples in Florida, will have the right to marry the person he or she loves.â€
As the community celebrates the milestones already achieved throughout the state, Nadine Smith, CEO of Equality Florida, will present perhaps one of the most significant State-of-the-State addresses ever, honoring those who have worked so hard to make these achievements a reality, as well as outlining the work that is yet to be done.

PAMM presents an intimate concert by acclaimed electronic musician and composer Daniel Lopatin – Oneohtrix Point Never. The performance marks the musician’s Miami debut, and will feature a live, improvised mix of visuals created by video artist Nate Boyce.

Acclaimed electronic musician and composer Daniel Lopatin – Oneohtrix Point Never – performs for the first time in Miami. For his highly-praised, most recent release, R Plus Seven, Lopatin assembles the sounds of corporate design – the sort found in commercial transitions, background music, and instructional videos- into songs that are as moving as they are conceptual. Awe, doom, and wonder arise from a range of referents – pipe organs and horns to the abstract, synthesized cues for soundtracked emotions.
This performance will feature a live improvised mix of visuals created by video artist Nate Boyce. His CGI forms, some appearing as modernist sculpture or consumer products, mutate and morph in disorienting virtual space. As with Oneohtrix Point Never, Boyce uses found text, the names of towns made enigmatic and website banners cut up and layered throughout like visual poetry. The duo have toured together extensively performing together at venues, including MoMA/PS1, Walker Art Center, and Wexner Center for the Arts.

Geoff Dyer will outline ideas behind and inspiration for “The Ongoing Moment,” particularly his idiosyncratic categories for organizing photographic images. Tracing some examples of particular tropes, hats for example, Dyer will ask what larger lessons can be learned from indexing photographs in a way that veers from traditional art historical chronologies and taxonomies. What is the further potential of this method? Does it reveal something about the way photographers work, about a collective optical unconscious?

Ai Weiwei’s documentary, Fairytale, will be featured in PAMM’s auditorium with special guided exhibition tours of Ai Weiwei: According to What? at 6pm and 8pm.
Fairytale, a documentary film by Ai Weiwei, chronicles the making of a work by the same name. In 2007, Ai Weiwei invited 1,001 Chinese citizens of varying ages and backgrounds to travel to Kassel, Germany, for one week each, all expenses paid. The extraordinary event of such a large group of citizens traveling outside of China, many for the first time, enabled Ai Weiwei and the participants to discuss questions concerning identity, memory, love, dreams and the possibility of cultural dialogue. This 152-minute film describes the many challenges facing the artist and his volunteers in coordinating the work.

Considering the way images are indexed in the current exhibition, Image Search: Photography from the Collection, PAMM and The Miami Rail select The Ongoing Moment by Geoff Dyer as the Winter Reading Art book. Focusing on the ways in which canonical figures like Alfred Stieglitz, Paul Strand, Walker Evans, Andre Kertesz, Edward Weston, Dorothea Lange, Diane Arbus and William Eggleston have photographed the same things – barbershops, benches, hands, roads, signs – Geoff Dyer seeks to identify their signature styles. This workshop will help writers develop specific skills to tell their personal stories with a crafted sensibility. Participants will learn to focus their narrative voice, find a story’s arc, and use scene, characterization, and dialogue to organize the raw material of their lives. Work written during the workshop will be discussed in a non-judgmental environment designed to support each other’s individual skills. We’ll explore the differences between autobiography and memoir and address the idea of self-disclosure. International alternative rock icons, Gripin, will play Florida for the first time when they perform at Will Call Miami on Saturday, March 1st. Joining Gripin as special guest is Twenty7, a Los Angeles-based alternative rock/world music band with Turkish roots.
The four-piece rock delegates from Istanbul have developed an impressive following in Europe, while slowly building momentum here in America. Gripin’s first tour of the States in 2012 consisted of only six dates, whereas their 2014 American tour more than doubles their previous effort to thirteen and possibly more (to be announced soon). This includes two stops in Florida, their debut in Miami on March 1st, followed by a stop in Orlando the following night; as well as a showcase performance at the popular SXSW music conference in Austin, TX on March 11th. “We are very excited to get back on the road and have Twenty7 join us again. Not only did it make sense to do it again, but bigger and better and more dates,” expresses Gripin drummer, Ilker Balic.
Although the group is lesser known in America, the devotion of their large fan base abroad is significant. YouTube views are as high as 17 million, almost a quarter of the population of their country of origin.

Every third Thursday evening, PAMM brings together an eclectic range of internationally-acclaimed DJs and musicians for an outdoor music series on the terrace by the bay. This month, PAMM Presents Los Angeles-based producer and artist Total Freedom.
Adventurous, often confrontational but always playful, a DJ set from LA’s producer and artist Ashland Mines, aka Total Freedom, draws listeners into a whirlwind of ever-evolving texture and sensation. Unafraid to assault crowds with jarring shifts in mood and tempo, in his hands, R&B-concrète collides with rap, grime and ballroom house, while sung vocals abruptly dissolve into swamps of syrupy, dragged-out noise swells. As akin to real-time sonic collage as typical dance music DJing, Mines’ free-associative approach places recogniseable hip hop and R&B glimpses within abrasive, rhythmically distorting sonic space, making the familiar thrillingly unfamiliar. Alongside LA friends and contemporaries like Nguzunguzu, Kingdom and Arca, he’s poised among the vanguard of a vibrant, still evolving new aesthetic in club music.
Mines has presented sound installation and performance work around the world for institutions such as MOCA, The New Museum, LACMA, the Whitney, Carnegie Museum of Art, MCA Chicago, and Tate Modern.

Informed by conventions of Hollywood film and television commercials, Judith Barry’s “Casual Shopper” (1980-81) presents a female protagonist wandering through a seemingly endless array of product displays.
The woman both follows and is followed by a male figure, who appears to exist somewhere between reality and fantasy, within a carefully structured and intoxicating elevator-music-filled department store. The piece conflates romantic desire with consumer desire, as both figures perpetually search. Following a screening of the 28-minute video in the auditorium, Judith Barry will be in conversation with PAMM Chief Curator and Deputy Director Tobias Ostrander, followed by a Q&A.

ACND Prep will hold its inaugural People’s Choice Winners Exhibit celebrating the artwork of emerging student artists who participated in the school’s 5th Annual Middle School Art Festival. About the Artists
Charles Falarara is a Brazilian born mixed media and sculpture based artist who lives and works in Miami. He will be reusing his own drawings created with wall paper and stencils to explore ideas of quilt pattern making. He has shown at Aqua Art Fair, Boca Raton Museum of Art and internationally in Brazil and Budapest . Publications include the Miami Contemporary Artist Book among others and is represented by Froelick Gallery in Portland,OR.
Sri Prabha was born in Hyderabad, India and has migrated to Miami by a circuitous route of exploration and creative necessity. He will be installing dynamic video and mixed media art relating to the cosmos. Intersections of art, nature, and science are revealed thru his works. He has recently shown at the 6th All-Media Juried Biennial at The Hollywood Art and Culture Center, The Deering Estate, Boca Raton Museum of Art, and the Annmarie Sculpture and Arts Center.
Andrea Nhuch will display sculptures of paper maché and inflatable plastic that double as objects from our surroundings. She is is a mixed media artist born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1973. She lives and works in Miami. Nhuch’s practice explores and transforms commonly used materials such as bubble wrap, plaster, newspaper, and wire mesh into three-dimensional monochromatic compositions that balance volume, texture and shape.

The University of Miami is pleased to present Bodypaintography: An exploration of Sentiment, Composition and Body Language by Cynthia M. Fleischmann. Her exhibition will feature naked individuals formally painted and photographed into various environments to create and capture a dialogue between body and place. Her photography encourages the natural human form to be seen as a work of art, highlighting colors, patterns and messages that are found in the world around us that she paints onto the form, finalized with red hands.
Cynthia Fleischmann grew up in Küsnacht, Switzerland until she was 10, spending most of her time outdoors observing, playing sports, running around naked and drawing. Her appreciation for photography developed from her father’s love for American pioneer photographers such as Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and Paul Strand, whose works lined the walls of his gallery Galerie Zur Stockeregg. Moving to Dover, Massachusetts, with her mother and three older sisters imposed a new culture in which English became her prominent language. She was passionately involved in creating sets for school musicals and was nominated as most artistic in her high school. Cynthia has a drive for experimenting, and in 2009 she manifested her painting and photography passions into one art form she calls Bodypaintography. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Miami in 2010 and is completing her MFA in photography. This is her MFA Graduate exhibition.

Miami Art + Design (MA+D) has added the cultural symposium “Collecting Your Own Hermitage Museum†by Alexander V. Kruglov, Ph.D., to its Saturday, February 15 schedule. Kruglov’s lecture, taking place at 4 p.m., will explore how Catherine the Great’s passion for collecting established The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia 250 years ago. Kruglov joins featured renowned fine and contemporary art lecturers Agnes Monplaisir, Michael Goedhuis, Wendy Maruyama and Jennifer Guerinni-Maraldi in sharing expert insights at the inaugural debut of MA+D taking place during President’s Day Weekend, February 13 – 18, 2014.
MA+D will showcase more than 40 prominent international art and design galleries featuring fine and decorative arts from Old Masters, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism to Post War and Pop Art offering collectors an opportunity to view and purchase treasures rarely seen outside major museum collections. MA+D is produced by International Fine Art Expositions (IFAE) in collaboration with the SNA, the organizer of the prestigious Paris Biennale and co-organizer of New York’s Salon: Art + Design.
MA+D will open with a Vernissage benefit for the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum on February 13 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Museum will also conduct special tours in conjunction with the fair. Tickets for the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum Vernissage benefit on February 13 include a First View from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for $250 per person and a Collectors’ Invitational from 8:30 p.m. – 11 p.m. for $150 per person. Attendees will view museum-quality artwork in a spectacular and custom-built 50,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, air-conditioned circular pavilion surrounding the Isamu Noguchi-designed Fountain at Bayfront Park. The event will also feature an ultra-contemporary beach bar on the sands overlooking the bay on the northeast corner of the pavilion where guests may enjoy live popular island beats, cocktails and panoramic views of Miami. Live musical performances will also take place on additional stages. For the last 20 years, Michael Goedhuis has been at the forefront of the popularization of contemporary Chinese art. Goedhuis will examine that tradition, its relevance today, and how new works can be combined with ancient material. Goedhuis has held many exhibitions on the new Chinese brush painters, most recently at the Saatchi Gallery in London in 2013.

Kruglov, present curator of Phoenix Ancient Art (Geneva + New York) and past associate curator of Classical Antiquities at The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, will share how Catherine the Great’s passion for collecting inspired the significant establishment of the museum 250 years ago. Beside paintings and gems, Catherine acquired drawings of classical ruins and antique sculptures helping to assemble one of the most spectacular Neo-Classical ensembles in Europe of the Enlightenment. During his lecture, Kruglov will explore what masterpieces from today’s art and antiquities market might attract Catherine the Great’s discerning eye.

Maruyama has been making furniture/art since 1970. Her work is often inspired by extended residencies and visits to various countries such as France, England, Japan, Korea and China. Born in Colorado to second-generation Japanese American parents, her work vacillates between creating works that emulate and satirize contemporary Japan, among other cultures. Her newest work, “Executive Order 9066,†is influenced by personal and family history and addresses the internment of 120,000 Japanese Americans in 1942.
Monday, February 17 at 2:30 p.m. – “Discovering an Ancient Culture through the Contemporary Art Movement of Australia’s Aboriginal People†by Jennifer Guerinni-Maraldi
While travelling in Australian in the early 1990s, Guerinni-Maraldi and her husband purchased a major work by Freddie Timms “Sugar Bag,†acrylic on canvas, painted during the artist’s time working with Frank Watters (Watters Gallery) in Sydney. This magical painting was the catalyst that spurred Guerinni-Maraldi to begin exhibiting and selling contemporary art in London in the new millennium. Each year, she travels to Australia visiting remote indigenous communities, curators, collectors and artists. Her efforts in the United Kingdom aim to establish a greater awareness of high quality indigenous work and to build a stronger market for ethically sourced, contemporary
Australian indigenous fine art.
MA+D joins the prestigious roster of fairs organized by IFAE including the18th edition of the American International Fine Art Fair in Palm Beach being held this February 4 – 9, the 5th annual Miami International Art Fair (MIA), the 17th annual Art Palm Beach (APB), as well as many boutique fairs and events aboard SeaFair, the megayacht venue.

The Miami International Map Fair, the largest map fair in the world, will return to HistoryMiami February 8-9, 2014. This year, the Map Fair will be hosted in HistoryMiami’s newly expanded facility, the former home of the Miami Art Museum, adjacent to the museum’s current location on Downtown Miami’s Cultural Plaza.
Some of the interesting, rare and decorative maps to be showcased at this year’s fair include:
• van Keulen Map (1780) – Drawn earlier in the 18th century, this 1780 edition is considered a landmark in mapping Florida, Cuba and the Western Caribbean. The level of detail was well ahead of its time, including unprecedented accuracy in mapping the Florida Keys. Also included in the map were inset charts detailing developmental plans for the city of Havana, as well as charts of Matanzas Bay & Hondo Bay.
• Popple Map (1746) – The first map to show all Thirteen Colonies, including plans for harbor development along the Eastern seaboard, as well as archaic spellings of names like the ‘Western’/ ‘Atlantick’ Ocean and ‘South’ Sea, which we know today as the Pacific Ocean. Comprised of 20 sheets, the Popple Map is considered one of the two most important large- format maps of North America published in the 18th century. At a time when colonial control of North America was by no means certain, this map made a profound statement of England’s designs for dominance of the North American continent.
Held each year during the first weekend in February, the Miami International Map Fair provides both the serious collector and casual buyer with a weekend to browse antique maps, rare books, as well as attend a series of special topical lectures.
This year’s lecturers include:
• Alex J.C. Johnson, Ph.D. – author of the new book, The First Mapping of America: The General Survey of British North America, 1764-1775 (London: I.B. Tauris, 2014). He is a recognized academic and commercial specialist in historical geography, with a particular interest in the mapping of Great Britain and her former colonies in North America and the West Indies.
• Margaret Pritchard – the senior curator and curator of prints, maps and wallpaper for the Colonial Wiliamsburg Foundation. Margaret has lectured and published on topics relating to the collection for which she is responsible. Her most recent publication was a comprehensive catalog of the map collection at Colonial Williamsburg, Degress of Latutuide: Mapping Colonial America (Harry N. Abrams, 2002)
• Susan Schulten, Ph.D. – professor and chair of the history department at the University of Denver. She is the author of Mapping the Nation: History and Cartography in the Nineteenth-Century America (University of Chicago Press, 2012) and The Geographical Imagination in America, 1880-1950 (University of Chicago Press, 2001).
Also new to the fair for 2014 is a free, ‘Map-tacular’ Family Fun Day on Saturday, February 8. The Family Fun Day is open to the public and features interactive map exhibits for the whole family, as well as a photo opportunity with Super WHY from PBS Kids.

The events, taking place Feb. 3-11, will offer tips on preparing applications, information on the challenge timelines, and a chance to talk to past winners on what gave their submissions an edge. Leanor Antunes will open a project gallery installation at PAMM in June 2014. While visiting to research the context for this new site-specific piece, she will deliver a talk to introduce her work to PAMM’s public. Often researching important architectural histories, Antunes, now based in Berlin, has created work informed by her studies of sites in Brazil, Italy, and her native Portugal. Antunes creates elegant minimal installations often using craft techniques that correspond to measurements, material, site and memory.

Pérez Art Musuem Miami will present Cortadito, a traditional Cuban Son ensemble that performs music from the 1920-50s. Influenced by the sounds of Son Montuno, Boleros and other early Cuban musical styles, this dynamic group brings you back to a time when Trio Matamoros and Ignacio Piniero ruled the airwaves. Enjoy dancing under the stars, a rum bar on on the terrace, and see paintings by Cuban modernist Amelia Peláez along with other works on views in the galleries.

An Evening of Art, Wine & Conversation
They say a picture is worth a 1,000 words, in which case ‘i-Miami 2013,’ Marc Schmidt’s debut photography exhibition, speaks volumes. Reminiscent of Walker, Vishniac, Atget, Lange and Arbus, Marc Schmidt’s photography is strong and thought-provoking, reflecting the zeitgeist of the postmodern World. Using the simplest of tools, his iPhone camera and his bicycle for transportation, Schmidt has created a poignant visual essay of the inner city and its denizens. Schmidt’s affinity and respect for his subject matter are evident in the narrative structure of his compositions and the intuitive poetic resonance of his imagery.
Marc Schmidt was born in Chicago and raised in Hamburg. A physician by profession, Schmidt has had a love affair with the art of photography since his teen years when he started documenting street scenes in Hamburg. Schmidt has traveled around the world capturing life in all its aspects for over a decade and has previously published his work only once; a photography essay on a refugee camp in Rwanda. He has been running a successful photo rental studio in Hamburg since 2001. In 2013 he opened CU-1 Gallery in downtown Miami and has been documenting Miami street life since April of the same year.

A tertulia is a literary or artistic gathering for the purpose of discussion, a sort of salon. We invite you to a three-part tertulia focused on the exhibition Amelia Peláez: The Craft of Modernity.
Part one – Amelia’s Architectural Precedents – Raul L. Rodriguez, AIA
The integration of the built environment into the work of Amelia Pelaéz is evident. Rodriguez illustrates how three cultural streams syncretized and influenced twentieth century art in Cuba.
Part two – “Magnificent Femininityâ€: Critical Interpretations of Amelia Peláez del Casal – Ingrid W. Elliott, Ph.D.
Contemporary critics paid a great deal of attention to Peláez’s position as a female artist; particular consideration was given to the notion of “femininity†in relation to her painting. Elliott assesses the ways in which Peláez’s expression of craft and domesticity are in dialogue with these gendered interpretations of her work by her peers.
Part three – Finding Amelia: Excerpts from RUM & COKE – Carmen Peláez
The artist’s great-niece performs a staged reading of excerpts from her play RUM & COKE. After seeing a Peláez painting in person for the first time, the protagonist decides to go to Cuba, hoping to discover what makes beautiful, beautiful.

Leonard Turkel (1930 – 2011) was coined the “Father of Florida Condominiums†by The Miami Herald and is noted as the pioneer of the Florida condominium development boom. A native of Bronx, New York, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, developer, restaurateur, businessman, and civil rights activist who played violin and guitar, pitched baseball, had a great left-handed hook shot, and created numerous collages bringing historical photographs to three dimensional form.
Following Your Own Sense of Justice is a retrospective of his rarely seen artwork and is a true testament to the legacy of a man that proved to be one of Miami’s greatest mavericks of civic equality and community building. The exhibition is more than just an presentation of one man’s avocation. It’s the portrayal of a socially conscious movement, created by a singular vision, devoted to living equally for all.

This is a TCC member community workshop. The idea derives from my “Eating Club That Sometimes Knits†group back home in Idaho. It all started with a charity project to create blankets for a women’s shelter and turned into a monthly girls’ night of good food, good times, and great women. Come out continue the charity.

The exhibition includes a site specific multi-media installation flares, a collaborative project with fellow Brooklyn-based artist and NWSA alumnus Giselle Zatonyl.
swing/SPACE/miami is MDC Museum of Art + Design’s focused exhibition series featuring the work of distinguished Miami Dade College and New World School of the Arts alumni. An original 2001 watercolor of Abraham Lincoln by legendary singer and painter Tony Bennett will go on view January 25 at HistoryMiami to mark the third annual Lincoln symposium co-sponsored by the museum and The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Foundation (ALBF).
The symposium, titled Abraham Lincoln and the Constitution, will take place on Saturday, January 25 from 2:00-4:30 P.M. Pulitzer Prize-winning dean of Civil War historians, James M. McPherson, will be the keynote speaker, to be followed by a discussion among a panel of experts on the Constitutional and humanitarian issues that confronted Americans during the Civil War.
The symposium is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception made possible by ALBF Board Member Jean Soman of Pinecrest, Florida, and her husband William Soman. This year FIU College Law joins the event as a co-sponsor, and attendance at the symposium will provide CLE credits to attorneys.
Panelists include: Thomas Campbell, ALBF Treasurer and leading authority on both the legal aspects of the war and the role of Chicago during the conflict; Ediberto Roman, professor at FIU Law; Noah Weisbord, associate professor at FIU Law; and Frank J. Williams, ALBF Board Member, Lincoln scholar, and former chief justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court. ALBF Chairman Harold Holzer will introduce the sessions and moderate the panel.

Some of the highlights this year include Venezuelan sculptor Rafael Barrios, recognized as one of the most revolutionary Latin American sculptors. David Puentez, began his passion for EDM in Ibiza, and later played in Stuttgart and Frankfurt on a consecutive basis. Nowadays he has the support of colleagues like David Guetta, Tiesto, Bob Sinclar, Roger Sanchez, Nervo and Fatboy Slim.
Stillwell, a Tech House DJ with intense melodies enough to get any crowd jumping.
Hor!zen, stands out for their Southern Swag. This band roots from the Island Kingdom of Tonga and their talent has led them to tour all over the map.
Leslie Grace, of Dominican background stands out for her bilingual bachata songs. Her song, “Will you love me tomorrow”, hit the #1 spot on Billboards Latin Radio chart.
Dayride Ritual is comprised of Michael Vaughn on lead vocals, Dave Thomas on bass guitar, David Siclari on guitar and Mike Silvo on the drums. This band of friends get their influences from artists such as, Led Zeppelin, KISS, Guns N’ Roses and Alice in Chains to name a few.
DJ Irie, a Miami native, well known as the official DJ of the Miami Heat Basketball team and for his #1 mix show on WEDR 99 Jamz.
Stiletto, a San Diego native, is well known for her tunes played on Youtube’s Electronic Music Channel Monstercat.
Jes, was signed by Tiesto’s Black Hole Recordings. Her legendary release “As the Rush Comes” with Motorcycle has made her stand out in the EDM genre.
Avenida Zero, is a Spanish popIrock band from Miami formed in late October of 2010. Their Intense lyrics, big sound, catchy chord progressions and advanced production identify their sound as one of a kind. Comprised of lead singer Lisa Abreu, bassist Raydel Fernandez and drummer Gabriel Beltran, this group will put the crowd to dance.
Droids, the longest running band on the Vegas strip, writes their own music and are also a popular cover band. Members of the band include lead vocalist and drums Terry Warren, bass guitarist and vocalist, Frank “The Godfather” Cusenza, Mitchell Sigman on guitar, keyboard and vocals and lastly, Brendan Scholz on guitar and lead vocals.
Joseph Areas, is a talented Miami based DJ/Producer, whose love for EDM has landed him success rapidly which has allowed him to provide good quality dance music across the globe.
Atrasolis, Miami producer with highIenergy tunes and deep beats. He experiments with sounds of dub step with fidget/electro that can be most readily associated with international phenomenon Skrillex. The popularity of the style has caused him to explode on the scene.
Noel Sangar, is considered Electro/Trance/ Progressive house producer and with his skills as a songwriter he has entered into popItrance sampling the entire vocal from his wellIknown anthem “No Greater Loveâ€. Pérez Art Museum Miami Kicks Off Third Thursdays Music Series with Los Angeles-Based duo Nguzunguzu
Every third Thursday of the month, PAMM brings together an eclectic range of internationally-acclaimed DJs and musicians for an outdoor music series on the terrace by the bay. The evening series, 6-9pm, kicks off with a focus on experimental sounds and diverse cross-genre dance music. Nguzunguzu offers a unique blend of R&B, rap, club, house, kuduro, and grime. Nguzunguzu’s (pronounced en-goo-zoo-en-goo-zoo) otherworldly productions weave energetic polyrhythms, eerie melodies, and dramatic soundscapes to create a new emotive electronic club realm that is sad, sexy, and scary. Raised on 90s R&B/Hip-Hop radio and underground club music, the Los Angeles based duo (Asma Maroof and Daniel Pineda) dig deep to complement the explicitly experimental modern sounds of international club music with some of the freshest urban pop happening now.
Nguzunguzu, which takes its name from a traditional Solomon Island figurehead used to protect against supernatural forces during canoe trips, offers a unique blend of R&B, rap, club, house, kuduro, and grime.

Biography
Jahfé is a band based out of Miami, Fl playing a heavy yet smooth fusion of roots reggae with rocking dub-hop. Representing the power of the youth and the wisdom of roots culture, the music of Jahfe not only reflects the city’s diverse music scene but also the true ability of conscious music to connect to people of all backgrounds. Band members represent a diverse international background of home countries and cultural roots- Haiti to Spain, Israel to Cuba, Czech Republic to Morocco to all over the US.
The band is comprised of some of the hardest working musicians in Miami; Jahfe has shared the stage with Damian, Stephen, Julian and Ky-Mani Marley, Steel Pulse, Buju Banton, Capleton, Collie Buddz, Midnite, Toots and the Maytals, Pato Banton, Nas, Maxi Priest, Johnny Dread, Cultura Profetica and many other great artists.
Collectively the band has worked with such artists as Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Ky-Mani Marley, The BlackOut Movement, Thievery Corporation, Paul Fakourie, Karl Pitterson and many other great artists and collaborator. Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) welcomed 5,000 guests to the museum’s annual Miami Art Week celebration featuring a performance by multimedia art collaborative LOS JAICHACKERS. PAMM director Thom Collins kicked off the celebration with a special Ruinart toast to the artists whose work is presented in the museum’s opening exhibitions. Guests of the Maserati VIP Lounge observed the festivities from the third-floor terrace, while thousands of Art Miami, Design Miami and Art Basel Miami Beach VIPs, museum members and invited guests danced on the veranda, explored the galleries, and enjoyed the breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay from the Museum’s expansive terraces.
LOS JAICHACKERS’ performance, titled Night Shade/Solanaceae, included: two new videos in the museum’s auditorium; an ice sculpture which melted throughout the evening to reveal mysterious packages and strange, exotic night fruits; and enlisted the musical talents of TOTAL FREEDOM (Los Angeles), DJ LENGUA (Los Angeles) and Los Master Plus (Guadalajara, Mexico).
PAMM Presents LOS JAICHACKERS: Night Shade/Solanaceae was sponsored by Maserati. Support was provided by American Express with additional support provided by Miami Downtown Development Authority. The diverse partnership has come together to get books into the hands of Miami-Dade children from low-income families through The Children’s Trust Read to Learn Books for Free program as well as direct distribution to local teachers.
“It is inspiring to see the commitment to reading and childhood education from this partnership help meet the critical literacy and education needs in our community,†said City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, who will speak at the press conference. “Books are an essential foundation for motivating children to explore, dream, and achieve their full potential.â€
“Thanks to this partnership and especially to Property Markets Group and The Children’s Trust, who each generously donated an entire truckload of books for a combined total of 80,000 to the Read to Learn Books for Free program, we are now able to put new books on our shelves and into the hands of children who might have little or no access to them,†said Lissette Mendez, director of programs at The Center for Literature and Theatre @ Miami Dade College.
The United Teachers of Dade (UTD) and their national affiliate, the American Federation of Teachers were responsible for securing the remaining 40,000 books to be available for local teachers and UTD members to pick-up for their students following the press conference.

Artist and Magician Frank Haines currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Haines has performed at Santos Party House (NYC), Pyramid Club (NYC), Basso, (Berlin), and the deep woods of Delhi, NY. His most recent collaboration was this Fall with Zeena Schreck for Performa 13. Additionally, Haines is part of the cross-generational performance trio of Blanko & Noiry. Notably, they performed at a night he curated titled Blood Transfusion for a Ghost at PS1/MOMA in conjunction with their Kenneth Anger exhibition. Haines has exhibited extensively in the US and Europe at Jackie Klempay Gallery (Brooklyn), AMP (Athens), Boston University Art Gallery, Jack Hanley Gallery (San Francisco), Lisa Cooley Gallery (NYC), Krinzinger Gallerie (Vienna), ZDB (Lisbon).Additionally, Haines is working on a book of interviews with 25 fellow artists and scholars, curating the upcoming exhibition Witch Favors, and collaborating with Jerry (The Marble Faun) Torre.
Christopher Garrett is an artist and curator. He lives and works everywhere. He is not the best at writing bios.
Heineken® Light partnered with the award-winning Tecne Collective to bring Heineken “Light Your Night” to Art Basel Miami,  December 3 to December 7.  Heineken “Light Your Night” serves as a platform for local and international artists to interpret Heineken Light’s “Bounce” campaign through the use of light. The creations, by local and internationals artists, were showcased in a series of events including a monumental video mapping experience, kinetic light motion installations, and an interactive light show challenge.
Heineken Light Your Night featured video mapping and kinetic motion events designed by award-winning Tecne Collective, a group of technologists and artists featuring Gorka Cortazar (Madrid) and Rodrigo Arcaya (Miami), in collaboration with Wyzton Borrero Perez of Klang! (Barcelona). The internationally recognized Tecne Collective was awarded “Best Spatial Media Art” by the Media Architecture Biennale, and most recently received the Illumni Infinity Award and the International Association of Lighting Designers’ Award of Excellence, among other accolades.

Heineken Light Your Night Challenge at the Light Box at Goldman Warehouse
On Tuesday, December 3, five South Florida multi-media artists, Yuri Tuma, Juan Carlos Zaldivar, Clifton Childree, Brandon Opalka, and Kevin Arrow, will transform the Light Box at Goldman Warehouse into a maze of light installations. A panel of judges will select one of these talented artists as the winner of the Light Your Night Challenge and award them a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Amsterdam, home of Heineken.
Light :: Flow | Kinetic Motion Interactive Experience at Mana Wynwood
On Thursday, December 5, at Mana Wynwood, Heineken Light Your Night will showcase Light :: Flow. This interactive kinetic motion installation by Tecne Collective, portrays an abstract representation of human movement, through light and kinetic rhythm. Hyperopticks :: Monumental Video Mapping | The Grand Finale + Official Basel Castle After Party
On Saturday, December 7, a monumental video mapping installation will transform the facade of Grand Central into an eight-minute show-stopping audiovisual experience. Tecne Collective’s Hyperopticks will explore the characteristics of contemporary art movements such as Op-Art, Art Cinetique, and Deconstructivism. Show times: 11:00 p.m., 11:45 p.m., and 12:15 a.m.
