Touch Me Hear is an experimental multimedia work developed last month at Inkub8 as a part of their generous Artist Residency. It was commissioned by Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center (New York). The opus explores the relationship between touch, sound and movement. Body parts and its extensions such as hair and clothes become performable musical instruments. From skin sensations to complex digital tactile simulations, the piece exposes disappearing awareness between what can be felt and what actually is. A continuum of scenes filled with humor, solitude and emotionally charged movement contemplate the contemporary world of intertwined vibrations and modalities.

Mayors Jewelers Hosts Rolex Deepsea Challenge Exhibition in Aventura Location 6/21/13 – 7/8/13

Mayors Jewelers Hosts Rolex Deepsea Challenge Exhibition in Aventura Location 6/21/2013 – 7/8/2013
June 21-July 8; Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Sunday, noon to 8 p.m.

The Rolex Deepsea Challenge Exhibition will be on display for the first time in Florida, exclusively at Mayors Jewelers in Aventura from June 21st to July 8th, 2013.

On March 26, 2012, filmmaker and explorer James Cameron made an unprecedented solo dive to the deepest point in the ocean, Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, southwest of Guam in the Pacific Ocean, with the experimental ROLEX DEEPSEA CHALLENGE watch attached to the exterior of his submersible. The ROLEX DEEPSEA CHALLENGE descended to a depth of 35,756 feet, defying extreme technical challenges and showcased Rolex’s amazing waterproof capabilities during an expedition that opened a new chapter in deep-sea exploration.

“The ROLEX DEEPSEA CHALLENGE was the reliable companion throughout the dive; it was visible on the sub’s manipulator arm and working precisely at 10,898 meters down at the bottom of Challenger Deep,” James Cameron said after his historic dive. “It’s a tremendous example of engineering know-how, and an ideal match for the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER submersible.”

On board with Cameron acting as his lucky charm was the ‘Old Lady,’ the history-making 1960 ROLEX DEEP SEA SPECIAL experimental watch that had accompanied Swiss oceanographer Jacques Piccard and the then Lieutenant Don Walsh on their legendary dive in the bathyscaphe TRIESTE on January 23, 1960, the first and until Cameron’s dive, the only manned dive to what was then the deepest-known point in the Mariana Trench. On that exploit, the ROLEX DEEP SEA SPECIAL, attached to the hull of the Trieste reached a depth of 35,814 feet returning to the surface in perfect working order, a feat that remained unrivalled for more than half a century.

The educational Rolex Deepsea Challenge Exhibition in partnership with the National Geography Society includes interactive audio and visual and will showcase both renowned watches. This is a traveling exhibition and will later move to Mayors Jewelers in Orlando.

Not only is the temperature rising, the bbq grills are getting ready and Chefs are creating secret recipes as preparations for the Boca Burger Battle, A Grilling Affair! returns again for the second year on Saturday, July 13th. More than 20 contenders from all over south Florida will create their grilling masterpieces and present them to a prestige table of Grill Master Judges which includes a few well known “burger conneseuirs” like Sef the Burger Beast, Jamie Frankel from Burgers by the Beach, Stephanie Miskew from the Glamorous Gourmet, and well known celebrity Chef Dean Max in hopes of winning the Golden Burger Trophy and hold the title of the Best Boca Burger. The sizzling summer street festival is held in Sanborn Square Park located in downtown Boca Raton near Palmetto Park Road and Federal Highway.
This community event with its “backyard bbq theme” not only showcases some of the best beef, turkey, fish, and vegetarian burgers that can be found, but also has an array of summer food tasting stations sampling gourmet French fries, onion rings, tropical salads, chicken wings by Tucci’s Fire N Coal Pizza, rum cakes, liquor infused ice cream and good old apple pie. Cockspur Rum and Iceberg Vodka will be making its debut at the battle to wet your whistle with Electric Lemonade and Rum Punch. You can also quench your thirst with a variety of Holy Mackerel craft beers, Madria Sangria, Moscato wine and GEM spring water just to mention a few of the Beer, Wine and Spirits selections served this year. Be sure to visit our new Wine Store on your way out and receive Special Discounts on wine by the bottle and by the case!
Boca Burger Battle’s Chief Grill Master this is year is Chef Wes Bonner who is Publix Aprons Resident Chef. Wes graduated Summa Cum Laude from Johnson and Wales and has a strong passion for the culinary arts. The Chief Grill Master will oversee all of the Battle’s Contenders, create the judging criteria and fiercely lead the Grill Master Judges on their path to burger nirvana. The judges will decide on Best of Show and Best Alternative Burger while the guests get to vote with their wooden chip where the “Peoples Choice” will determine the champion and hold the title for one year as the Best Boca Burger. Defending 2012 champion Rebel House, a “renegade” restaurant & bar in downtown Boca Raton will be back to defend their title. All spatulas down, The Rebel Burger took the Judges Pick and the People’s Choice awards for the inaugural event.
This year’s battle will introduce the ultimate cooking experience featuring the Big Green Egg, a ceramic kamando-style barbecue grill coming down from Atlanta Georgia. This is the most versatile outdoor cooking product on the market. An additional “eggstavaganza” at the Boca Burger Battle, is the Big Green Egg Cooking Academy will host the interactive Cooking Alley teaching guests all the tips and tricks to cooking pulled pork, brisket, ribs and chicken. And yes, there will be plenty of delicious samplings to go around for everyone.
Portion of proceeds from the Boca Burger Battle benefit PROPEL, www.PropelYourFuture.org, People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership, a 501c3 Non Profit Organization located in Boca Raton. PROPEL’s goal is to address the needs of youth and be a catalyst for change, one life at a time. Sonia Delaunay was a Jewish-French artist who, with her husband Robert Delaunay and others, cofounded the Orphism art movement. It is noted for its use of strong colors and geometric shapes. Her work extends to painting, textile design and stage set design. Sonia was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre in 1964. By 1975 she was named an officer of the French Legion of Honor. Her work in modern design included the concepts of geometric abstraction, the integration of furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, and clothing.
Professor M. Kathleen Colussy, M.F.A. has traveled to seventy-one countries on five continents where she has researched and photographed numerous cultures. Colussy’s gift for fashion, textile print design and photography, helped her create a new fine art series of handmade books. This skill contends with the dueling realities of the slick gloss travel brochures along with the sometimes-gritty reality of the indigenous people living and/or working in a given country.

Portrait of an American innocent. In 1955, Bettie Page (1923-2008) waits to testify before a Senate subcommittee investigating the effects of pornographic material on American adolescents and juveniles. In flashbacks, we see her childhood in Tennessee, a brief marriage, a gang rape, and her going to New York City in 1949. There she takes acting lessons, models for photos, and acts in short films for adults, earning the nickname, “The Pin-Up Queen of the Universe.” We see her relationship with merchants Irving and Paula Klaw, photographers John Willie and Bunny Yeager, boyfriends, and the public. Through it all, she is wholesome, sporting, and forthright – Eve before the fall.

One Night only Charity Art Exhibit Event Features Harvard University Guest
The Belen Art Exhibit a Canvas of Hope is the first of its kind in the US

Miami, FL- June 5, 2013- On Friday June 14th, the Community Health Council (CHC) in Partnership with the Peruvian American Chamber of Commerce will present the one-night only Belen Art Exhibit charity event at the Pan American Art Projects in Wynwood. The art exhibit titled A Canvas of Hope: Art by the Children of the Slums of the Amazon is the first exhibit of its kind ever created to benefit the Community Health Council. The children that live in extreme poverty in the city of Belen use artwork as a way of self-expression and learning. The event begins at 7pm.

The evening’s special guest is Adam Frange, a Harvard University Teaching Fellow and the Executive Director and founder of the Community Health Council. He is flying down from Harvard University to talk about the important work he is doing in Belen and to generate awareness of the living conditions of the families and children who live there. More specifically, the CHC, which already runs a clinic in Belen, wants to build a community center to provide the citizens with much needed services.

Included in this exhibit is photography by Zag Adams, son of the world renowned Patch Adams, who was portrayed in the hit movie by Robin Williams. Zag has captured the everyday plight and beauty of the people of the Amazon. His ability to document life in the city of Belen is unparalleled and the photographs will be available for purchase.

“As the gateway to Latin America we are so happy and honored to present this exhibit in Miami. We’re excited to talk about our work in Peru and share the experience of daily life in Belen as seen through the drawings and paintings of improvished Peruvian children and the photographic work of Zag Adams,” said Frange.

Tickets for the event are $50 and it includes special cocktails and delicious bites from local Peruvian restaurants. Tickets can be purchased at www.belenartexhibit.com. The Pan American Art Projects gallery is located at 2450 NW 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33127.

About the CHC:
The Community Health Council works in collaboration with local citizens, governmental and non-governmental organizations to improve the health, education, and living conditions of children, families and citizens of Belen living in extreme poverty. “Human beings have mastered the art of self sabotage now it’s time for us to master the art of self-love”, says co-curator Dana DellaCamera. Imagine a world where you are lit up with excitement because of the miracles you are creating for yourself. Where you allow yourself to dream, trust, develop, risk, expand, take action and create without limitations! When we listen to our hearts and trust our inner selves we experience a burst of energy and discover our true purpose. That is the concept and focus of the show. “On Cloud 9” is an inspirational and innovative journey through art where the soul is realized and takes flight. The show will leave you elevated. Come evolve with us and let your spirit soar!
There will be several featured artists on each of the 3 gallery floor levels. On the first floor, up and coming industrial design innovator, Jeff Olivier will be revealing his newest works. Jeff will be showcasing radical designs that break design rules regarding materials and production. Items will be made by wood, metal, glass, plastic, fiberglass, recycled materials, concrete, and cork. Jeff possesses a minimal, modern, and sleek style with an interesting use of unique materials.
The second floor will feature a variety of artists including Diego Romero, Melisa Caprio, Omnia Masoud, Anne DellaCamera, Eliane Harvey and many more. In addition to being in art heaven, Bars Healing expert, Tara Taglienti will be facilitating free 15 minute individual healing sessions for guests on opening night. For more information on Bars Healing visit: http://digitara.net/healing-energetics/
The third floor will be transformed into a retro lounge playing ethereal music by the infamous DJ One Star with refreshments provided by Zen Bartending. Entrepreneur and emerging artist Jessica Kizorek will be showing her first “Inner Light” series featuring back lit art that is sure to create a dynamic and sheik ambiance. Kizorek’s pieces will be complimented by photographer Melisa Caprio who wants to know, “What are you manifesting?” This is the question she asks in her latest project “Postcards to the Universe”. Caprio was inspired to use photography to help people manifest their desires. Through her own desires being fulfilled she wanted to inspire others to do the same and capture the experience through her art. People from all over the world write their Affirmations on postcards and mail them to her. She then photographs the cards in nature and compiles them to give people the opportunity to see their Affirmation in a published book, Postcards to the UniverseTM. A portion of the proceeds from the book are used to benefit different organizations around the world. At the gallery opening there will be an interactive activity for guests to write their own manifestations and be part of the magic and art.
Performing artist, singer and songwriter Dana DellaCamera will performing inspired numbers throughout the evening with choreography by Stephanie Espinosa. Dana is known for her surprise entrances and audience participation. She guarantees to be entertaining, creative, and daring, a must see for the evening. For more information on Dana and to hear her music visit: http://danamdellacamera.wix.com/danadellacamera

The show will culminate with a closing event on September 7th from 6:00pm-9:00pm hosted by Dana DellaCamera called “Spark” which will be a networking event for artists and people wanting to connect with artists. Dana is launching “Spark” because it aligns with her Life and Business Coaching by Dana Company, where business meets art! Dana is committed that people do what they love and make a living doing it. Drinks and refreshments will be provided. Admission is free and there will be a 30 minute presentation on how artists can direct more traffic to their websites to generate sales.

Whitesnake, fronted by Deep Purple vocalist David Coverdale, emerged on the music scene in 1977. Fairly popular in Europe and Japan, the band didn’t hit the American mainstream until 1984’s Slide It In – its first platinum album. Three years later, Whitesnake released an eponymous album (titled 1987 in Europe) that featured the hits “Still of the Night,” “Here I Go Again” and the power ballad, “Is This Love.”

In April of this year, the Whitesnake: Made in Japan DVD was released. Inspired by the performances from the nine sold-out UK shows and a further 87 performances from around the world, the live albums Made in Britain and the accompanying The World Record were born. Whitesnake will release the double live album, Made in Britain – The World Record, on July 9. Musicians on the albums include David Coverdale (vocals), Doug Aldrich (guitars), Reb Beach (guitars), Michael Devin (bass), Brian Tichy (drums) and special guest Brian Ruedy (keyboards).

Red Line Chemistry was formed in Kansas City, Mo, in 2004. Members include Tom Brown (bass, vocals), Mike Mazzarese (percussion), Dave Fyten (guitar, vocals), Andrew Breit (guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Brett Ditgen (lead vocals). Since the hard rock band released its full-length debut album, Chemical Hand & a Hand Grenade, Red Line Chemistry has performed with Stone Temple Pilots, Puddle of Mudd, Three Days Grace and many others. Their latest album, Tug of War, was released in May 2013 and was produced by Grammy-award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz who has worked with Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters and the Deftones.

“Shake Your Booty” with perennial pop favorites KC & The Sunshine Band at Seminole Casino Immokalee on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale Monday, June 10.

KC & The Sunshine Band is still as widely popular today as they were when they first danced onto the music scene nearly 40 years ago. Harry Wayne Casey – “KC,” for short – developed a unique fusion of R&B and funk, with a hint of a Latin percussion groove, yielding an impressive string of hits like “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s The Way (I Like It),” “Do You Wanna Go Party” and “Shake Your Booty.” With sales of over 100 million records, nine Grammy nominations, three Grammy Awards and an American Music Award, KC & The Sunshine Band was one of the most progressive bands of the ‘70s and is credited with changing the sound of modern pop music.

Miami’s own Harry Wayne Casey (KC), started working in the music business at age 17, performing menial tasks around the T.K. Records/Studio complex in his hometown. Together with Richard Finch, a budding studio engineer prodigy at TK Records, they formed KC & The Sunshine Band in the early 1970s.

Their first record, Blow Your Whistle, made the top 15 on the R&B chart. With the release of the self-titled triple platinum second album in 1975 came the group’s first major US hits with “Get Down Tonight,” “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “Boogie Shoes” and “Rock Your Baby.” KC & The Sunshine Band became the first act to score four #1 pop singles in one 12-month period since the Beatles in 1964. Three of those singles crossed over to become #1 R&B, as well. The 1976 album, Part 3, also went triple platinum and yielded the #1 singles “I’m Your Boogie Man,” “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty” and “Keep It Comin’ Love.”

The band’s momentum continued when “Boogie Shoes” was included on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. “Please Don’t Go” and “Yes, I’m Ready”, a duet with high school friend Teri DeSario, also became favorites. KC returned to the charts in 1983 with “Give It Up”, which also hit #1 in the UK.

KC won a songwriting Grammy in 1976 for best R&B song for “Where is the Love” which was recorded by Betty Wright. He also received Grammy Awards for Album of the Year, as well as Producer of the Year in 1978 for his work on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.

In 1995, he recorded Get Down Live, a concert album that was gleaned from his performances in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Peru and Melbourne, Australia. KC’s “The Best of KC and The Sunshine Band” went gold in 1999. In 2001, KC released an album of all-new material entitled I’ll Be There For You. Proceeds from the title song, released as a single, were donated to the September 11 relief effort.
In 2002 KC received the coveted Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where Dick Clark and music producer Michael Lloyd turned out to honor him. That same year, That’s The Way I Like It – The Harry Wayne Casey Story was published.

Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes rocks the house all the time every time! This classically trained New Orleans-based band delivers a smorgasbord of musical genres every time they hit the stage. JSDN defy easy categorization, their irreverent funk is cut with rock riffs, a Gypsy/Klezmer flare, a Latin tinge courtesy of a hard hitting horn section, and a sense of humor.

Miami, Fla. – Water Rites: New Works, a group exhibition of paintings by GUILD, curated by Ricardo Pau-Llosa opens on June 14th from 7pm to 10pm at the Bakehouse Art Complex, BAC. GUILD, constituted in 2010, is comprised of Abdiel Acosta, Lu Gold, Jovan Karlo Villalba, Todd Eliott Mansa, Yamel Molerio, Vincent Serritella, José L. Telot, painters who emerged from the New World School of the Arts. They are committed to painting as a living art form, and they exalt craftsmanship, originality of vision, and the power of art to transform our experience of the everyday world. The BAC as one of the most important alternative spaces in Miami’s Wynwood Art District, hosts the group in the Audrey Love Gallery. Water Rites: New Works focuses on the many properties of water which lend themselves to representations of inspiration, transcendence, ecstasy, purification, and rebirth.

All the painters of GUILD have grown up in Miami, the most water-oriented metropolis in the United States, which gives their approaches to water particular poignancy. These innovative painters have reaffirmed their passion for creativity, painting, representation, and ideas—in defiance of contemporary fixations on concept and the reduction of the artist to a socio-political commentator. The artists of GUILD are giving testimony to the validity of their position by exploring, each in his or her way, the power of a single element central to life, mysticism, art, and the life of the imagination.

Water Rites will constitute the first full-scale group exhibition of GUILD. It is the ideal theme upon which to view the group’s diverse work, as water underscores GUILD’s link to the geographical and cultural milieu of South Florida. Lastly, their vivid and original approaches to water highlights GUILD’s sensibility to archetypal images and other attributes of the tradition which continues to nurture the inexhaustible art of painting.

RA Sushi in South Miami hosts its ninth annual “Nicky’s Week” fundraiser from Sunday, May 26, through Saturday, June 1, during which 100 percent of proceeds from the sale of a variety of menu items such as Edamame, Tootsy Maki roll, Shrimp Nigiri, Pork Gyoza, Chicken Yakitori and Garlic Citrus Yellowtail Tapas, plus select beverages, will benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

The annual fundraiser was developed in memory of St. Jude patient Nicholas “Nicky” Mailliard, of Scottsdale, Ariz., who lost a long battle with brain cancer in February 2005 at the age of 13. As a nephew of one of RA Sushi’s founders, Nicky held a special place in the hearts of RA Sushi associates throughout the organization. RA Sushi initiated the fundraiser to honor the memory of Nicky and to raise awareness and funds for St. Jude, where no child is ever turned away because of a family’s inability to pay for medical treatments.

Memorial Weekend is here… almost!
Miami Beach locals leave South Beach for Urban Week… We face it ! How? By presenting designer swimwear line, Adoro by Maytee Martinez with camouflage cover-ups, war accessories and attitude.

Is this a typical fashion show? No it’s not.. it’s a concept show, with a different and fun theme for all. How? Models will be judged as they walk and how they walk and attitude is everything. This is NOT a pretty girl show with flowy dresses. This is a battle– a battle against the world with style and determination. Professional photographers will be capturing all the snapshots of the battle scene as it happens.
Is this a model competition? No, it’s also a styling competition. Watch local upcoming stylists battle Stephanie from Taste by Stephanie Guerra, the warrior. She is an established New York and South Florida stylist battling with the same bare campground rules provided to all parties. Each stylist will be given 2 hours, 3 models, camp fabric, nets, scissors and a staple gun. It is up to them to create down to the final countdown the wining look as they compete for the Memorial Weekend stylist award.

So is this a hotel fashion show? NO! Its an art expression show capturing the essence of the weekend, and come see a real show as we take the fashion show to a different level. Models WILL walk in the middle of the streets, where all the Urban street action takes place.

Is this all ? Please come join the “Party at Cha Cha Roster” as DJ’s start at 3 pm til sunrise and let the place light up with fashion wars, drinks and excitement.

MANO Fine Art presents an extraordinary visual interplay of art and language. The exhibition entitled “Part of A Conversation” features contemporary works by twelve Miami-based artists. The works are as individual as the artists themselves with the common denominator being the combination of text and imagery to create provocative insightful and playful visual dialogues with the viewer. Passages of text, letter forms and remarkable gestural strokes that suggest writing yet remain illegible engage the viewer to “read” the artworks. While other works focus on repetitive patterns, such as linear rows and geometric shapes. Mostly, however, “reading” the artwork encourages viewers to be part of a conversation.

The Miami Marlins declare May ‘Marlins Education Month’. The month will feature Marlins ThinkTank, MASPP Nights, Weather Day, MASPP Teacher Appreciation Night and MASPP Career Workshops. The month long festivities will highlight the Marlins commitment to education and to the South Florida community. Marlins Education Month starts today with Weather Day where over 6,000 students are attending the Marlins game against the Mets at 12:40 P.M. Weather Day includes a pregame presentation by the CBS 4 Weather Team about various weather related topics and affects to the climate in South Florida. The presentation is geared towards 3rd – 8th grade students and follows the Sunshine State Standards.

The month of educational fun continues on May 9 when the Marlins host one of the final three Marlins Ayudan School Partnership Program (MASPP) Career Workshops. The MASPP Career Workshop Series is a unique educational opportunity designed specifically for students of Miami Senior High School and TERRA Environmental Research Institute. The goal of the program is to offer students a real-world glimpse at a variety of disciplines as they begin the path toward their future career. Each workshop features presentations, panel discussions, a tour of Marlins Park, as well as small group breakout sessions. The topics covered in the remaining workshops are as follows: May 9 – Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Risk Management, May 16 – Social Media, Community Outreach/Foundation, Public Relations and Broadcasting, and May 23 – Grounds, Facilities/Events, Baseball Operations, and Player Development. Held select Thursdays at Marlins Park, the workshops are designed and hosted by the Marlins Ayudan teams aligned with Miami Senior High and TERRA.

On May 14 the Marlins will host the first of eight MASPP Nights. Each night the Marlins will celebrate and showcase the educational partnership with a different MASPP school. Partner schools are located in the Greater Miami area and were selected through an application process. The schedule is as follows; May 14, Citrus Grove Elementary School, May 15, Miami Senior High School, May 16, Bunche Park Elementary School, May 20, Terra Environmental Research Institute, May 21, Ben Sheppard Elementary School, May 22, Citrus Grove Middle School, May 29, Miami Edison Middle School, May 30, Bent Tree Elementary School.

On May 15 the Marlins will begin visits to the 17 winning classrooms of the Marlins Think Tank sweepstakes. Marlins Think Tank is a curriculum-enhancement program that aims to enrich the learning experiences of children in grades 4 through 6 by linking baseball to the subject areas of Writing, Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Health & Fitness. Throughout the lessons, students read about baseball, learn about Miami, and even hear from some current Miami Marlins players! During Think Tank Week, Marlins players, coaches, broadcasters and Manager will visit classrooms that utilized the program. The students and teacher will demonstrate to the Marlins personnel what they learned through the program, which is followed by a Q&A session and ends with an autograph session for the students. Think Tank visits will continue on May 17, 20 and 21.

On May 18 the Marlins will host the MASPP Teacher Appreciation Night. The Marlins will provide tickets to each school for their teachers to come and enjoy the game together. Each school is also receiving VIP passes for the postgame concert.

Carla Fache Solo Exhibition:
BEYOND THE INVISIBLE
From May 20 to July 20, 2013
Artist Talk and Reception: July 20, 6-9pm
Venue: Art Parks at Young Circle Gallery,
Hollywood Blvd and US1, Hollywood, FL

“BEYOND THE INVISIBLE”, the art exhibition of Carla Fache’s new works, investigates the transformative effects of color, expanded balance expectations of the painted medium, and the artist’s unique process.

Fache’s intention to interpretate the spaces between the material and the emptiness; making visible the unconsciousness of physics through exploring the subconscious links that connects balance, brings to life her new series of work which unveils hidden dimensions through her paintings.

In this new aggressive line of work, Fache delves further into her studio practice by creating a balance proposal beyond the frontiers of the canvas, interplaying between color and material; and by layering colors that evoke the acceleration of matter across a surface, light through space, and action over time in ways that blur conventional definitions of painting.

Fache’s new paintings are charged with an intuitive spontaneity; the intensity of her colors and her experimental approach to process are linked in her search for the interconnection between the concept of space and its viewer, building perspectives through the exploration of balance, space and spontaneous geometrics. Which, guided by the command of light and vibration, boost paradoxical color effects.

“These new paintings are all about exploring the color balance, the intuitive and all the in between”, explains Fache.

Her work and Bio may be viewed at www.carlafache.com

BEYOND THE INVISIBLE Art Exhibition runs from May 20 to July 20, 2013. Artist talk and reception is on July 20. The public is invited to visit the Arts Park at Young Circle Gallery to view her works, Monday to Saturday from 12pm to 6 p.m. For more information contact Arts Park Gallery at 954.921.3500

When they weren’t performing with B.B. King or Reverend Horton Heat, Joel DaSilva and the Midnight Howl toured the country as the opening act for The White Stripes and Black Crowes. Locals can enjoy the soulful quartet live on stage at Rip’s Sports Bar & Grill, located at Diamond Strike Lanes, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday, May 17th.

Diamond Strike prides itself on its billing as a live music venue as much as a bowling and entertainment center. Diamond Strike’s Debbie Feder, has secured international artists such as Danny Nova (returning May 29th), Ralph Curtis, Vince Rayburn and Shawn Beamer (Molly Hatchet Band) as well as up-and-coming independent artists to take the “diamond” stage.

“Diamond Strike Lanes offers events seven nights a week and we have created a strong following with live music enthusiasts who come here to watch their favorite bands play,” explains Feder. “We are helping put Pompano Beach on the radar as a local tour stop for musicians.”

The best part: Rip’s weekly concerts are free of charge, open to the public and can be enjoyed over dinner.

Leave A Legacy and The Miami Foundation announced today that Amy Rosenberg is the recipient of the 2013 Ruth Shack Leadership Award. The award is presented to an emerging leader who represents the qualities of ethics, dedication and service to Greater Miami embodied by The Miami Foundation’s former president, Ruth Shack. She will be recognized along with the Community Champion Award recipient, David Lawrence, Jr., at the 15th Annual Donor Next Door Luncheon, Wednesday, May 8, 2013, 11 a.m. at Jungle Island.

Rosenberg is an attorney and arts advocate who founded Overtown Music Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and showcasing the tradition of music that existed for decades in Overtown. Rosenberg currently serves as co-chair of the board of directors after spending many years as the arts and social service organization’s executive director. She recently joined the National YoungArts Foundation (formerly known as the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts).

David Lawrence, Jr. is president of The Early Childhood Initiative Foundation and leads The Children’s Movement of Florida. The Community Champion Award is given to a person who has contributed to the nonprofit community and has shown a commitment to Greater Miami through their work.
