Just My Height Art Shows, which brings professional-quality, fine art to young children’s eye level by displaying it at just 36 inches high, is celebrating its debut show, “The Writing on the Wall,” with a closing party!

Join us for wonderful artwork as well as fun and games, including a scavenger hunt and art “stations,” designed to engage the children with the art. There will also be a raffle with arts-related prizes.

“The Writing on the Wall” features 20 artists from South Florida and around the U.S., with all pieces centered around the theme of letters and numbers. Proceeds from the sale of any artwork in the show and the raffle tickets will be donated to the Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library, in support of Miami-Dade Public Library’s Project L.E.A.D. (Literacy for Every Adult in Dade).

Our opening reception in January was a huge success! Don’t miss this last chance to catch this unique show, and bring along the children, so they, too, can enjoy fine art … at their level!

Every year in March my partners and I always do a big, art related exposition and this is what we have chosen to produce this year. Our goal has always been to make Miami a major contender in the art world outside of Art Basel. Our belief has always been that Miami has a cultural and artistic backbone that only now is being recognized by everyone else.

The success and news of our expositions have garnered us worldwide attention and always in the month of March, so there is no association with Art Basel. Don’t just take my word for it you can very easily Google: Dali Miami and Haring Miami. There is an underlying story here waiting to get out.

This year we decided to turn our focus to home because we need the world to know that Miami is a hot bed for talented artists. Wynwood graffiti and wall art has reached an all time fever pitch. People from all over the world are coming to our little neighborhood just to check out this incredible symbiosis between property owners of buildings in Wynwood and graffiti artists. Business owners are now looking for artists to team up with so they can make their store fronts a piece of art that people will walk or drive around too and see. Business owners are incorporating their signs and business logos with the art to garner more attention and foot traffic.

Admission is only $40.00 and it includes music, open bar as well as lite bites. The brawl will take place March 6, 2015 from 7pm-10pm at The Annex located at 44 NE 29 ST in Wynwood. Space is limited and this being one of the most unique events in Miami it will sell out soon. Kids between the ages of 8-17 will compete for prizes ranging from performing arts scholarships to cash awards and performance opportunities, to tickets to local attractions and theatres. This year, courtesy of WSVN CH7, the Grand Prize winner will receive a free trip – airfare, hotel and free passes for two – to attend the live American Idol finale. The countywide competition will begin on Feb. 8th, with preliminary auditions that will take place through April 12th at four local theatres. The competition will feature a total of six individual categories including; pop/rock/rap vocals, musical theatre/jazz standards/classical vocals, dance, musical instrument, original spoken word and original vocal and/or instrumental composition, and categories of six or less members including; dance, musical instrumental and band/vocal group. Participation is free of charge and limited to residents of Miami-Dade County.

The countywide competition concludes with semifinals on April 25th and 26th and finals on May 2nd at the Miracle Theatre. Seven preliminary auditions will take place in diverse locations throughout Miami-Dade, including the Miracle Theatre, John A. Ferguson Senior High School, South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center and the Joseph Caleb Center. Participants may compete in one individual and one group category only, and those who pre-register will be given priority audition times. Performers may pre-register online and will be seen before non-registered performers. ABOUT THE SHOW
We are excited to announce the artists that will be exhibiting their artwork in the 3rd Annual “Cloud 9: Let Yourself Be Seen” Art + Music Show and we hope you will join us. This year’s tagline was inspired by the curator, Dana DellaCamera’s own journey allowing herself to “Be Seen” and no longer hide or be stopped by fear of judgment by others or herself.
“Cloud 9: Let Yourself Be Seen” Art and Music Show is a platform for artists to “Be Seen”, be vulnerable, and share their gifts, talents and message with the world. Cloud 9 is a world where you allow yourself to dream, trust, develop, risk, expand, take action and create without limitations! When we listen to our hearts and trust our inner selves we experience a burst of energy and discover pure joy.
All of the art that will be exhibited will be accompanied with a short paragraph from the artist as to why the pieces put them on “cloud 9”. The intention is for all who attend the exhibition to participate, leave inspired, empowered and alive.

The 3 floors of the art gallery will feature a variety of artists and styles from installation art to sculpture, oil/acrylic painting, illustration and mixed media. Artists: Alicia H. OPEN STUDIOS
1310 Gallery artists in residence will have open studios where they invite you into their live/work spaces to take a special peak into their lives and work. Artists having open studios on Opening Night March 21st are Christine Velez Stone #106 and at the Main Event, March 28th are: Christine Velez Stone #106, Eliane Harvey #210, Galerie Jenner #307, Niko Yulis #207, Sylvain Denis #305 and Barry Gross.

In addition to being in art heaven, Zen Bartending will be serving up drinks for your enjoyment. Refreshments are available for purchase and appetizers will be provided.
The show will culminate with a closing event on March 28th from 7:00pm-10:00pm hosted by Dana DellaCamera. This event is in conjunction with the Flagler Village (FAT Village) Art Walk. Trolleys will be available to take guests from gallery to gallery.

We’re so excited to present a selection of works by an extraordinary artist Alicia Viera. At 96 years old Alicia, continues to create art everyday as she has since she was a young girl studying at Cuba’s legendary San Alejandro Fine Arts Academy. We hope that you will join us on Saturday, February 21 during the Bird Road Art Walk to meet the artist and view her works.

The exhibit features a selection of figurative drawings and paintings from the 1950s to present day. Some of the work still bears a Cuban seal authenticating the artists ownership and granting permission to take it out of the country.

But the focus of Viera’s exhibit is her pictorial language of geometric abstraction and her exploration and mastery of new mediums. Bold, fluid, geometric forms and undulations of her previous work on paper and canvas are reinterpreted and presented in the form of ceramic sculptures, boxes and wall hangings.

All work is available for sale.

MANO Fine Art Project Space is the working studio of Miami-based artist MANO and an exhibition and project space for art related events. MANO Fine Art is one of the founding members of the Bird Road Art Walk that is held on the third Saturday of each month.

Launch Historic Overtown Visitor Center

Historic Overtown To Serve As A Key Cultural Hub To Welcome Visitors To Miami

Miami, FL – The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Multicultural Tourism Team (GMCVB) in partnership with the Black Archives & Research Foundation of South Florida will hold a ribbon-cutting on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 10 am-12 noon for the new Historic Overtown Visitor Center located inside The Historic Lyric Theater.

The new visitor center will provide visitors and residents with a resource for information on the attractions and happenings in Historic Overtown as well as other heritage and multicultural neighborhoods throughout Greater Miami.  Additionally, the new visitor center at the Historic Lyric Theater will offer a wide variety of brochures on attractions and points of interest, maps, calendars of events, tours and special offerings throughout the year.  The Big Bus Hop-On Hop-Off Uptown loop tour will be making a stop at the Historic Lyric Theater where the new Historic Overtown Visitor Center will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“As Historic Overtown again becomes a destination of choice for tourist and residents alike, The Black Archives is extremely honored to have this visitors center located in the Historic Lyric Theater Cultural Arts Complex says Timothy Barber, Executive Director Black Archives.  “The Welcome Center is the result of the great collaboration, and partnership that we have been able establish the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, along with the Multicultural Tourism Team.  This initiative fits the mission of the Black Archives to re-brand the Historic Overtown neighborhood by re-introducing economic growth and jobs for residents through tourism dollars.”

MIAMI, FL, February 17, 2015 – The Black Police Precinct and Courthouse Museum (BPPCM) will host a panel discussion on Tuesday, February 24th, from 7-9:30pm. The topics will include the Stand Your Ground law, recent use of mug shots in target practice and overall police relations in the community. The BPPCM is located at 480 NW 11th Street,Miami, Fl. The moderator for the evening is Dr. Jimmy Brown (Chief Jimmy Brown), retired Miami-Dade Division Chief and the host of Hot Talk on Hot 105 for the past 25 years. The distinguished panel includes State Senator Dwight Bullard (District 39), Florida State Representative Shevrin Jones (District 101), Retired Lt. Archie McKay (BPPCM), Bishop James Adams (St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church), Troy E. Wright(Executive Director, Trayvon Martin Foundation) and Rene T. Gordon, Esq. The #Black Police Precinct and Courthouse Museum is a major place to visit for local, national and international tourists to learn about the accomplishments and struggles of pre-Civil Rights black officers.

In 1944, the Miami Police Department began a new era in law enforcement hiring the first five African-American police officers—Ralph White, Moody Hall, Clyde Lee, Edward Kimball, and John Milledge—who served and protected the Central Negro District now known as Overtown, Liberty City and Coconut Grove. Because of segregation, the officers could not operate out of the main Miami Police Station. So, they policed by walking and riding bicycles. There are even stories of arrested prisoners being taken to jail on bicycle handlebars, or by walking and even hailing rides from citizens driving by. They had no cars, no radio contact and, most of all, no headquarters, until 1950 when renowned Miami architect, Walter G. DeGarmo, designed the first and only Black Precinct and Courthouse in the nation. Today, it’s the only museum of its kind in the country.

The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Retired officers like Lt. Archie McKay, who served in the facility when it was a precinct, regale guests with stories and challenges of law enforcement during segregation. On the weekend, the museum becomes the backdrop for Vegas-style, Ball & Chain Weddings where couples “tie the knot” during ceremonies that are unique, fun and inexpensive.

David Mura is a writer, memoirist, poet and performance artist who brings a unique perspective to our multi-racial and multi-cultural society. A Sansei or third generation Japanese American, Mura has written two memoirs: Turning Japanese: Memoirs of a Sansei, which won a 1991 Josephine Miles Book Award from the Oakland PEN and was listed in the New York Times Notable Books of Year, and Where the Body Meets Memory: An Odyssey of Race, Sexuality and Identity. Road Trip To Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens
Hop on the bus with fellow Big Readers for a trip to Delray Beach and a day of learning about Japanese culture and the history of the 100-year-old connection between Japan and South Florida, including an event related to the subject of this year’s Big Read title, When The Emperor Was Divine. In May of 1942, during World War II, farmland in the Yamato area still owned by Japanese settlers was confiscated by the U. S. government for a military installation.
Take a guided tour and experience the splendor of the Morikami’s six distinct gardens and the museum that complements them. The gardens, named Roji-en: Garden of the Drops of Dew, were designed to be a living exhibit with abundant viewpoints that give you a chance to stop and enjoy your surroundings. The museum’s galleries play host to several exhibitions of Japanese art and artifacts throughout the year featuring different aspects of Japan’s rich and diverse culture. The 12 Nights Electronics and Music series welcomes Jarek Kapuscinski, an innovative intermedia composer.
Jarek Kapuscinski is an intermedia composer and pianist whose work has been presented at New York’s MOMA; ZKM in Karlsruhe; Centre Pompidou in Paris; and Reina Sofia Museum in Marid, among others. He has received awards at the UNESCO Film sur l’Art festival in Paris, VideoArt Festival Locarno, and FNCNM in Montréal. He was first trained as a pianist and composer at the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and expanded into multimedia during studies at the University of California, San Diego (1992-1997). Currently, he is Assistant Professor of composition and intermedia at Stanford University.
 
Kapuscinski is a musician, but his music is audiovisual. “It is made of sounds and images and more importantly with their relationship over time. I am interested in the emergent in-between – the intermedia,” says Kapuscinski. His pieces indeed emerge from the formalization of the elemental and the pure. “The piece is finished not when there is nothing more that I can add but rather, when there is nothing left to be removed. “ He believes in a thoughtful process of elimination of non-essential elements, aspiring to achieve a transparent and spacious form, that can generate complex emotional response. It is through the synthesis of complexity and simplicity that the stepping stone narratives (made of simple, haiku-like moments) mediate a rich experience. Kapuscinski is not shy to express positive feelings of joy, love, wholeness, goodness and transcendence. “I embrace everyday, familiar emotions and musical language that invokes them. There is richness and profoundness to be found in the common and seemingly simple.”
 
The program presents a retrospective of Kapuscinski’s works. It stretches from Mondrian Variations, an early work that defined my interest in composing with sounds and images both conceived simultaneously, “painted on a single canvas” to Where is Chopin a recent fascination with micro-expressions in faces of people from around the world as they listen to music. The first one was a result of rather solitary process while the latter involved travel to 12 different countries and private one on one sessions with over 150 people.  Each of the works has a rich story of its making. Having no space (or time) for that, I can probably say just a few words about the creative interests that unite them all.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run presented by Verizon, a three circuit 5K (3.1 mile) Run Walk, will once again wind its way through the streets of Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Known as “Florida’s Largest Office Party”, the run is open to employees of businesses, corporations, government agencies, financial institutions and non-profits – regardless of company size – and incorporates a special competition to award the overall men’s, women’s and co-ed teams in 20 different industries. In celebration of their 25th anniversary, Mission International Rescue Charities (MIR Charities) is partnering with Quality Meats Miami Beach for an exclusive, grand opening benefit party on Thursday, February, 26, 2015 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Founded by Lian Fanjul de Azqueta in 1990, with an initial donation made by Alfonso, her brother, MIR has helped children and families escape poverty by identifying and addressing their needs through educational services and collaborative programs. Today, 1,200 children are enrolled at MIR’s schools, in grades Kindergarten through 12th. However, the organization relies solely on donations, and fundraising events are key to its success.

The restaurant, a popular New York dining destination, is celebrating the opening of its South Beach outpost, located at 1501 Collins Avenue. Tickets to this event are priced at $150 per person. Miami Cancer Institute will host the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of East Kendall — a survivors’ celebration, camp-out and relay-style walk around the hospital campus lake. The fundraiser, which begins at 12 noon, Saturday, March 14, and ends the next morning, benefits cancer research, education and patient services. More than 3,000 participants are expected to pitch tents and raise awareness and funds for the cause, at the Baptist Hospital campus, 8900 North Kendall Drive, next to the future site of Miami Cancer Institute. Teams are made up of 10 to 15 people who walk relay-style around the lake during the day and throughout the night to communicate the message that cancer never sleeps. The quartet’s members Nicole Miglis, Trayer Tryon, Paul Giese & Zach Tetreault played together in various formations as far back as middle school, but it took until adulthood and 2012 for them to become Hundred Waters. Living under one roof meant the band had a communal mentality, yet each maintained their own distinct projects, borrowing here and there from each other. It was in interpreting a friends’ music together that they discovered the power of their combination, and they quickly fell to work reorienting their lives around an album. The music they found was a beautiful blend of contradictions, mournful yet colorful, introverted yet aware, and brought the tradition of songwriting to a strange future. Initially released by their local label Elestial Sound, their self-titled debut soon became seen as the sound of Florida, drawing loose comparisons to Stereolab, Four Tet, and Bjork. Soon it attracted the most unlikely of label bosses, Skrillex, who signed the band to his OWSLA label that same year and gave the album a full-scale release, with remixes by Araab Muzik, Star Slinger, and TokiMonsta. Since then the band has taken its live show around the world, touring with artists such as Grimes, Julia Holter, Alt-J & the XX.

In May 2010, Peter Hook, legendary bassist of both Joy Division and later New Order, decided to honour the outstanding work of his first band and the undoubted genius of the late Ian Curtis by giving people the opportunity to hear both of Joy Division’s masterpiece albums, ‘Unknown Pleasures’ and ‘Closer’, live and in their entireties. Backed by his new band The Light, Hooky first played ‘Unknown Pleasures’ at the Factory club in Manchester on May 18th & 19th 2010 in order to celebrate the life of Ian – one stand alone sold out night quickly became two, and due to phenomenal worldwide demand, Hooky then began taking the show on the road with headline gigs & major festival appearances throughout Europe, a full tour of Australia & New Zealand as well as the band’s first tour of the United States in December which culminated in Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell appearing live with the lads in Los Angeles to sing ‘Transmission’.

On Thursday, February 12th, Marilys Nepomechie, FAIA (Professor of Architecture) and Marta Canavés, ASLA, IIDA (Associate in Design, FIU LAEUD) will moderate a panel discussion at the Coral Gables Museum titled Designing the Resilient City. This discussion is one of several events coinciding with the exhibition MIAMI 2100: Envisioning a Resilient Second Century. The panel will include Kai-Uwe Bergmann (BIG | Copenhagen), Daniel Pittman (OMA | Rotterdam), and Daniel Vasini (West 8 | Rotterdam).
MIAMI 2100 takes a comprehensive look at the topic of climate change and sea level rise, with a focus on our region and on the broad range of disciplinary research currently underway on our natural and built environments. FIU Architecture Instructor Eric Peterson, working with a team of architecture and landscape architecture students, configured the exhibition galleries, and constructed a large-scale interactive model of Miami which utilizes LiDAR data to depict the predicted effects of sea level rise on the city over the coming century.
Designing the Resilient City will take place on Thursday, February 12th, 2015 from 6PM to 8PM at the Coral Gables Museum: 285 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134. Experts in the field believe that replacement of failed cells, tissues, or organs could cause over 30% of all deaths in the United States to be substantially postponed—increasing the chance of living to age 90 by more than 10 times.

Unfortunately, the supply of transplantable organs is much less than the demand. There are long waiting lists of potential organ transplant recipients, most of whom die before an organ becomes available. In the United States, it estimated that only about 2% of the potentially needed organ transplants are carried-out. Experience a beautiful collection of large-scale Caribbean town plans, developed while Rafael Fornes taught at the University of Miami School of Architecture.

The compositional layouts draw from historic sources, including the Vatican Museum’s Gallery of Maps, pre-WWII American town plans and Giambatista Nolli’s legendary 18th century plan of Rome. Local and ecological references are also highlighted on the maps, as elements of folklore and geography are woven into the compositions, providing a more complete and colorful understanding of the cultural identity of each town or city.

Rafael Fornés is a Cuban-American architect and artist with architecture degrees from the Instituto Superior Politécnico José Antonio Echevarría in Havana, Cuba, and Budapesti Müszaki Egyetem in Hungary.

He practiced at Dirección Provincial de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales, both in Havana; the Budapest Föváros Városépítési Tervezö Budapest, in Hungary, and, more recently, at Duany & Plater-Zyberk & Co., in Miami.

Fornés taught courses at the University of Miami School of Architecture, including Studies of Havana, Rome program graduate courses, and Open City Studio in Russia, in collaboration with the prestigious St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. He was honored with the UM SoA Faculty Award for part-time faculty in 2006, before becoming a visiting professor at the University of Notre Dame. Additionally, he served as lead coordinator of field trips and charrettes in Havana for the International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture and Urbanism, and for both Notre Dame and Yale universities. He is currently working on a postgraduate program between the Institute of Classical Architecture & Arts and Colegio San Gerónimo, the oldest university in Cuba.

The exhibition will run from February 16 through February 28.

Joan Cobb Marsh returns to Miami Beach with a new collection of oil paintings at the Williams McCall Gallery South of Fifth. Kicking off with an artist reception that is open to the public on Saturday, February 14th at 6 pm, the exhibit will run until March 5th. Nature’s Light: Gardens and Interiors features Marsh’s recent work inspired by Monet’s gardens in Giverny and her coveted Interiors. Joan Cobb Marsh is a known and globally collected artist who specializes in oil paintings. Dentistry from Our Hearts: Spreading Free Smiles Throughout South Florida

AVENTURA, FL — The Dental Care Group and Dental Care Group Kids are bringing free smiles back to the community! On Sunday, February 8, 2015, they’ll host the 4th annual Dentistry from Our Hearts. Their dental teams will be donating their time to provide free services including exams, cleanings, fillings, bondings, extractions, x-rays and emergency care at both their Aventura and Pembroke Pines offices during this year’s event.

With the help of their fellow dentists, hygienists, clinical and administrative teams, volunteers and sponsors, Dr. Rick Mars, Dr. Joel Glicksman and Dr. Josh Coussa have treated over 1000 patients and donated nearly half a million dollars in dental care through the Dentistry from Our Hearts program since 2012.

Tooth decay, which is almost entirely preventable, is the most common chronic illness among school-age children. Left untreated, it can result in infection, unbearable pain, loss of teeth and acute systemic infection. Yet nearly one in four American children have untreated tooth decay. For low-income children, the rate doubles.

“For many, a visit to the dentist is unaffordable and inaccessible. More than 85 million Americans have no form of dental insurance. We are looking to address this concern and give back to the members of our community who need it the most,” said Dr. Rick Mars.

The event will take place from 9 am to 4 pm on February 8th. Patients will be seen on a first come first served basis. Come celebrate Carnaval in Rio at Pinecrest Gardens, with Batuke Samba Funk, Miami’s finest Brazilian band, presented by KCC Productions. The roots of Carnaval trace back to the ancient Romans and Greeks who celebrated the rites of spring. Across Europe, including France, Spain and Portugal, people annually gave thanks by throwing parties, wearing masks and dancing in the streets. Such traditions were carried over to the New World. Carnival has come a long way since it was brought to Rio, having become one of the biggest events in the World. Tonight it comes to Pinecrest!

If you like Funk, Afro Beat, and Brazilian music, this is the right band for you. Batuke is a mix of Brazilian rhythms like Samba and Afro-Brazilian, with the raw 70’s Funk, creating a groovy atmosphere wherever the seven-piece band plays. Batuke Samba Funk was created by Brazilian bass player, composer, and producer Diogo Brown in 2009. Diogo studied at the Conservatory of Rio de Janeiro, and is one of the most accomplished and recognized Brazilian musicians in South Florida. He has played alongside artists such as Ricky Martin, Chris Delano, Nouvele Vague, Caludia Leitte, Beatriz Luengo, Don Omar, and Youtel (Orixas), among others. The core of the band consists of five Brazilian musicians and adds two American musicians on the horns. You can expect a hand-clapping, foot-stomping good time worthy of the celebration. The program will also feature a samba dancer in full Carnaval costume to brighten the proceedings still further!

The show is part of the South Motors Jazz Series, and will be in Pinecrest’s Banyan Bowl, 11000 SW 57th Ave. (Red Road), starting at 8 PM. Tickets are $25 and $30, available at pinecrestgardens.org.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free to the public. For the first time at Winter Warm-Up, fans will have the opportunity to take photos with the 1997 and 2003 World Series trophies from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Marlins’ dugout.

Vargas Gallery is proud to present our next exhibition ExplorArt: Puerto Rico. As a space committed to the growth and development of contemporary art in the USA and Latin America, we have created a new exhibition series called ExplorArt. Beautiful, fragrant, and rare orchids will cover the lush landscape of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden for the three-day International Orchid Festival, held Friday, March 13 – Sunday, March 15 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

More than 10,000 orchids and plants will be on view and available for purchase throughout the Garden. Stop by the Science Village to watch interactive demonstrations of the Million Orchid Project, which aims to reintroduce one million native and endangered orchids back into South Florida. Presented by the Orchid Society of Coral Gables, the breathtaking displays of rare and exotic orchid species at the American Orchid Society juried show are a must-see.

Global art agency and gallery, Art Bastion Miami, will be showcasing an art exhibit of exclusive paintings from the ‘twice forgotten’ Russian colorist and fantastical realist, Boris Chetkov (1926 – 2010), February 21 – March 21, 2015. A V.I.P. wine reception will be hosted by Art Bastion Miami opening night on February 21st, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., where guests will enjoy complimentary cocktails and a selection of passed hors d’oeuvres will be served.

The Boris Chetkov: Portraits exhibition consists of the largest private collection of many never-before-seen paintings by Chetkov, owned by collector Peter Hoffman, Jr., founder of the Hoffman Art Institute.

Opening the exhibition will be Russian art historian and broadcast journalist, Rosie Rockel, who has co-curated this thought-provoking exhibit with the Hoffman Art Institute. Ms. Rosie Rockel regularly presents arts coverage and is considered one of the leading critical voices on Russian 20th century and contemporary art.

Mr. Peter Hoffman, Jr., will be inaugurating the show, in addition to local and international Modern Art experts. They will consider the techniques and lasting relevance of Chetkov’s portraits, that depict the duality – public and private persona – and duplicity that living under communism engenders, a highly relevant topic in Miami today.

Spanning three decades, Boris Chetkov: Portraits, brings together 20 important works from the zenith of Chetkov’s long career working in Russia during one of the most tumultuous periods in 20th-century history. The exhibition includes bold works created during Khrushchev’s Thaw of the 1960s, through his years painting in secret while working officially as a glass artist, up to his paintings made during the liberal glasnost years of the 1980s.

Art Bastion was founded by internationally recognized art collector and curator, Sebastiano Varoli, with the mission of discovering and representing artists around the world and introducing their artwork to broader audiences. Varoli has collaborated with renowned art initiatives ranging from the Musée D’Orsay in Paris to the Royal Ballet in London and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice.
