It’s an Inventive Twist on the Bar Crawl That Takes Foodies on a Culinary Tour!

In this day and age, weâ€™re all foodies eager to sample the latest restaurant or food creation that everyone is talking about! The Kitchen Hopâ„¢ will take hungry guests on a self-guided tour of several culinary enhanced destinations. The simple concept allows people to check in at a central location, before walking to participating restaurants to sample and enjoy some of South Floridaâ€™s top chefs and drink specials. A ticket includes two drinks (beer or cocktail), one to two samples per kitchen and admission to the official Kitchen Hop after party at Hyde Midtown.

Participating Midtown kitchens will start sampling bites from 3pm to 6 pm. Check-in takes place between 2:30 â€“ 4:30 pm inside the HYDE Midtown Sales Center. At the end of the restaurant loop, participants can burn off those calories at the official after-party, which will take place where they initially started at HYDE Midtown.

Our viewing party for the PRIDE Parade kicks off at 11:30am for the biggest PRIDE to date. The Nature Conservancy, Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science and its Museum Volunteers for the Environment (MUVE) and Historic Virginia Key Beach Park are combining forces to get the community to Connect With Nature on Saturday, April 11. This free event will allow attendees to play an important role in protecting our coastal city while having fun. The event will take place at 4020 Virginia Beach Drive in Miami.

In honor of Earth Day, volunteers will get their hands dirty and experience first-hand the power of communities working together to restore coastal habitat in South Florida. Hear the first-ever Prayer to Bayside, the second Ode to Fort Dallas, and settle, once and for all, via poetry, the debate of which is the better fish spot: Garciaâ€™s or Casablanca?

Tickets will include one free drink ticket. (After that, itâ€™s a cash bar. Yes, thereâ€™s a bar on the boat. Why would you ever get on a boat that DIDNâ€™T have a bar?) Light snacks will be provided.

Dark Horse Flyer is a rock band based from South Florida and is comprised of 6 members. Collectively they have shared the stage with such notable artists as; Ernest Ranglin, Buster Poindexter, Etta James, Temptations, Kansas, Chuck Berry, and The Gin Blossoms. Breakaway is a 9-song album of masterfully played brawny riff rock and detached cool jazzy rock.

As a Boca Raton resident and bassist for the band, Richard Taylor has forged his own artistic conception, successfully creating basslines that are stand-alone musical statements. The combination of his rich understanding of music theory and chemistry of the chords, scales, and passing tones, makes him an invaluable member of Dark Horse Flyer.

Global art agency and gallery, Art Bastion Miami, will be showcasing exclusive paintings from Transiens et Vanitas, the inaugural Miami solo exhibition of Charlie Masson, March 26th through April 18th, 2015. The opening reception will take place on Thursday, March 26th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Transiens et Vanitas exhibition consists of 68 works made in a variety of media, including previously unseen assemblages, paintings on panels, as well as paintings on familiar packaging materials.

The artwork highlights vanity and superficiality in online social media and popular culture, and simultaneously serve as reminders of the transience of trends and materials people assign value to. The works pay tribute to influencers that have shaped todayâ€™s world.

The transience of life, values and pursuits is the dominant motif throughout the Transiens et Vanitas exhibition. Following tradition stemming from Flemish artists of the 17th century, Masson also incorporates the philosophy of â€œvanitasâ€ in his works. His works are represented in private collections around the world that include those of HRH Prince of Wales and Baron Cavendish of Furness.

Massonâ€™s first series of paintings titled #vanity (I-V), is in a format that mimics the interface of Instagram and the works are painted in a style that recalls pop-art through usage of bold lines and Ben-Day dots and calls into question the phenomenon of â€œselfies.â€

The series of small oil paintings Avatar (I-IX) are intimate portrayals of the artistâ€™s friends taken from images that they chose as representations of themselves for use in various social media. Painted in a direct manner, Masson injects importance to these modern-day self-appointed miniature online portraits. Accompanying these works, Masson also includes a self-portrait of his reflection on a computer screen, a nod to the intangible virtual life that we each compose.

Opposite the nine paintings of avatars, are nine deceased famous personalities who have left an imprint on todayâ€™s world portrayed in â€œLament Boxes,â€ tissue boxes with floral motifs whose openings serve as frames for illuminated ghost-like portraits.

Art Bastion was founded by internationally recognized art collector and curator, Sebastiano Varoli, with the mission of discovering and representing artists around the world and introducing their artwork to broader audiences. Varoli has collaborated with renowned art initiatives ranging from the MusÃ©e D’Orsay in Paris to the Royal Ballet in London and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice.

The Green Baby Fair offers an opportunity for South Florida families to gather information in a relaxed, fun atmosphere about the green resources and options available to them during their pregnancy, birth, and early parenting.

Many new and expectant parents are searching for answers to the complexities of raising children in healthier more sustainable ways. The Green Baby Fair showcases local representatives from many pregnancy, birth, parenting and baby-related resources including doulas, midwives, massage therapists, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, photographers and more!

Every nine seconds of each school day, a young person drops out of high school in the U.S., and nearly one-third fail to graduate on time. For the past 26 years, Communities In Schools of Miami (CIS of Miami) has been a driving force in collaborating with Miami-Dade County Public Schools to improve educational outcomes for Miami students.

CIS of Miamiâ€™s largest fundraiser is its annual gala, and this yearâ€™s event on Saturday, May 2nd, will commemorate CIS of Miamiâ€™s 26 years of service. The theme of the 2015 gala is â€œOver The Rainbow: Where Dreams Come True,â€ which pays tribute to the successful journeys more than 20,000 students have taken toward their future.

The event takes place in the Chopin Ballroom at the Intercontinental Miami Hotel overlooking downtown Miamiâ€™s skyline and Biscayne Bay. The evening starts with a sunset cocktail hour where supporters can bid on luxury, silent auction items including vacation packages, jewelry, restaurant gift certificates, spa treatments and more.

A three-course dinner will follow accompanied by live music and entertainment by CIS of Miami students.

Tickets for the annual philanthropic event are $200 each, and all proceeds directly benefit CIS of Miami. In 2014, CISâ€™ gala raised more than $100,000 to fund dropout prevention programs including tutoring, mentoring and financial literacy to children in grades k-12.

This one-day film festival will explore cinemaâ€™s stylish film noir and neo-noir genres in the developing world. Film noir from the 1930s-1950s is characterized by stark, angular shadows; conflicted anti-heroes; chiaroscuro lighting; determined, beautiful, scheming women; obscured scenes; and isolation in modern cities. Neo-noir addresses philosophical questions about the essence of human nature, guilt, redemption, and problems of knowledge, memory and identity, while blurring the lines between right and wrong, good and evil. Two films per genre will be screened to introduce and expose the art of stylized filmmaking and foreign films in Opa-locka.

Empowering the next generation of young entrepreneurs in South Florida, Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), a leading non-profit organization that teaches at-risk young people to think like entrepreneurs and enables them to find their own path to success, will host the annual Ignite Entrepreneurship Launch Benefit on May 2nd, at the Palm Court in the Miami Design District, to kick off the Ignite Entrepreneurship series of events presented in conjunction with eMerge Americas, a five-day technology conference in Miami that connects the best and brightest from the startup and funding ecosystems. All proceeds will support more than 3,500 young entrepreneurs throughout Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

The event will gather more than 300 local entrepreneurs and business leaders as well as eMerge Americas attendees to celebrate and support South Floridaâ€™s young entrepreneurs.

Igniting innovation and entrepreneurship, NFTEâ€™s event will feature a Spirited Startup cocktail reception allowing guests to sample the best of the regionâ€™s craft spirits, beers, wines and cocktails. They will also have the opportunity to bid on a chance to spend time with the regionâ€™s top entrepreneurs through the unique Hour with an Entrepreneur Auction. Nancy Dahlberg, the highly respected entrepreneurship writer for the Miami Herald, will receive the Entrepreneurial Spirit award from NFTE. In addition, guests will dance the night away while enjoying a locally-sourced tasting menu. All proceeds will benefit low-income youth enrolled in NFTE South Florida.

NFTE will also feature five student businesses that have qualified to compete in the May 4th Youth BizPlan Challenge, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at eMerge Americas. These finalists will be chosen at a semifinal competition taking place 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 22nd, at Miami Dade Collegeâ€™s Idea Center at the Wolfson Campus. They come from some of South Floridaâ€™s lowest-income communities and have completed a year-long entrepreneurship program, culminating in the completion of a unique business plan.

The REF Expo and Education event will bring together companies from alternative energy, clean technology, recycling, and sustainable business worlds to connect with business leaders, educational institutions and municipalities. They will also come together to provide educational workshops and discussions to share innovations with each other and to educate our future leaders, the students.

Individuals interested in sustainability and clean technology will benefit from the workshops and educational sessions, as well as enjoy a guided nature walk, recycling into art workshop, and the after-expo networking event with Eco-Coutureâ€™s recycle fashion show.

The business expo will connect private companies with each other, government, educational institutions, and potential clients. The Education side will provide a forum to discuss solutions and educate future leadersâ€¦students.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Dream In Green nonprofit organization and the Florida International University (FIU) Office of University Sustainability. REF will have approximately 60 exhibitors and sponsors in clean tech industries, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations at the expo. As well as, approximately 10 speaker tracks, networking receptions, and a post-event festival.

The REF education conference will be in conjunction with the expo and will have students, teachers, and administrators from the Dream In Green, Green School Challenge program, as well as from FIU, and universities from around the country attend to learn about what clean tech can do for their educational institutions and what careers clean tech companies create. Miami, FLâ€¦ Big Brother is back in South Beach. On Saturday, March 21st, the casting producer will hold an open casting call for Season 17 of CBSâ€™s popular reality show, Big Brother. Ideal candidates will possess an outgoing, intriguing, and competitive personality. Big Brotherâ€™s Season 6 Houseguest, Ashlea Evans will be in attendance. Ranch sorting, the No. 1 national sport in horseback riding, will appear for the first time in South Florida as a competitive event with the Ranch Sorting 2015 Jackpot Championship at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 22, at The Youth Fair. The sport is sanctioned by the Ranch Sorting National Championships (RSNC) and is guided by the rules and judges from the RSN, which has 19,000 members strong. Ranch sorting evolved from the common ranch work of separating cattle into pens for branding, doctoring and transport. On Friday, March 27th from 6 to 9 p.m., Hollywood Eyes, is hosting an exclusive Gucci and Oliver Peoples trunk show and cocktail soirÃ©e benefitting The Pride Center, a South Florida organization that works to empower LGBTQ communities.

For more than 19 years, The Pride Center has provided a welcoming, safe space â€“an inclusive homeâ€“ that celebrates, nurtures and empowers LGBTQ communities and allies in South Florida. The Pride Centerâ€™s programs and services meet the distinct socio-economic, health, spiritual, and safety needs of the LGBT community. More than 17,000 adults and youth attend activities at the Center each year. Outreach activities over the past year alone directly impacted 26,262 residents and visitors to South Florida.

Hollywood Eyesâ€™ evening of shopping and cocktails for a cause features a Gucci and Oliver Peoples trunk show, as well as other designer eyewear collections, perfectly timed to transition you from winter to spring.

Guests will enjoy passed hors dâ€™oeuvres, complimentary wine and a preview of spring and summerâ€™s hottest frames with 20% of all proceeds benefitting The Pride Center. There will also be a luxury raffle for a chance to win two pairs of designer glasses from Gucci and Oliver Peoples with 100% of proceeds going toward the center. The Blu Party returns to South Beach Tuesday March 24th for its 6th annual consecutive year, at STEAM Miami. Hosted by Sydney Blu- The Blu Party will feature top international artists including Pleasurekraft, Stacey Pullen, Kevin Saunderson, Christian Smith, Doorly, Mendo, Dramirez, Patrick M, Technasia and of course Sydney Blu herself. Famed Drummer Brings Jazz from New York March 14

Two-time Grammy winner Will Calhoun brings his jazz project to the South Motors Jazz Series at Pinecrest Gardens March 14 at 8 PM. Will is promoting his critically acclaimed CD “Life In This World” (MotÃ©ma Music). “Life…” features such notables as Ron Carter, Donald Harrison, Wallace Roney, and John Benitez, supplementing the trio of Will, Marc Cary, and Charnett Moffett. “Life In This World is a spiritual title,” Calhoun says, “which to me just means the sonic world of my experiences. It’s Will Calhoun in the sense of what influences me and what inspires me, but aimed more towards a jazz audience.” Says Carol Banks Weber of examiner.com, “Will Calhounâ€™s latest breakthrough jazz album, â€œLife In This World,â€ has it all. It deserves more than five stars. It deserves a Grammy.”

He is currently working on a recording, to be released in the Fall of 2015, celebrating the music of Elvin Jones. The album will feature Sonny Fortune and other alumni of The Jazz Machine. In addition, he is a featured artist in Sibylle Szaggars Redford’s paean to the living Earth, “The Way of the Rain,” performed at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. Also in the works is an exciting project from West Africa. Will is a new breed of ethnomusicologist, combining his ancestral research with many years of commercial success in jazz, rock, urban, alternative, ambient, and other musical forms of the world into a beautiful swirling expression of life.

Will Calhoun has composed, produced, and toured with Mick Jagger, Mos Def, Oumou SangarÃ©, Marcus Miller, and Wayne Shorter (on the Grammy-winning CD, High Life), Pharoah Sanders, The Rolling Stones, Lauryn Hill, Herb Alpert, Public Enemy, Paul Simon, Stanley Jordan, Jaron Lanier, and many more. He is an alumnus of the Sundance Composer Lab Program. He has recently broadened his artistic expression to film scores, photography, and a collection of artwork crafted from rhythm titled “AZA”. Future Painting, is the culmination of 4 years of research into video mapped paintings and will feature various approaches to integrating video and technology into mixed-media collage paintings. Through the use of video projections on top of physical paintings and translucent collages created directly on the face of video screens, Justin Wood transforms and twists the physical composition into a mesmerizing psychedelic experience. These works challenge the viewers perception of where the physical world ends and where the digital world begins and asks the question, Can painting and video exist at the same time? The show will also feature a site specific interactive wall painting that will respond to the depth and motion of the viewer through the use of a Kinect sensor, and allow the viewer to transform the video with their movement.

Bold, fluid, geometric perfectionâ€¦ At 96 years old Alicia Viera, continues to create art everyday as she has since she was a young girl studying at Cuba’s legendary San Alejandro Fine Arts Academy.

Throughout her artistic career Viera has created thousands of drawings and paintings exploring different mediums and genres; her solo exhibit “Alicia Viera: A Day Like Yesterdayâ€ features a selection of figurative drawings and paintings from the 1950s to present day but the focus of the exhibit is Viera’s unique style of geometric abstraction and her tenacious exploration and mastery of new mediums over more than eight decades.

Join us for a fascinating conversation with artist, Alicia Viera on Saturday, March 14th as she shares anecdotes about her days at Cubaâ€™s prestigious San Alejandro Fine Arts Academy in the early 1940s, her life as an artist, the evolution of her work and her views on art today.

Fairgoers may now purchase The 2015 Youth Fair Fun Card for $25, which admits one guest throughout the duration of the Youth Fairâ€™s 21 days (one entry per day) and includes a free 2015 Souvenir Cup. The Youth Fair Fun Card is available online at fairexpo.com and at participating Sedanoâ€™s Supermarkets. The Youth Fair will take place March 12 â€“ April 5, 2015 and is open daily, except March 16, 17 and 30, 31. For the first time ever, The Youth Fair will entertain guests for 21 days, instead of 18 days. Now in its 64th year, The Youth Fair attracts nearly 600,000 guests every year. The Dirtybird crew closes out Miami Music Week Sunday March 29th, at Steam Miami. Dirtybird has been at the forefront of releasing some of the best in funky house music with its strong bouncy basslines, classic house and hip-hop influence and A+ productions since 2005. Label curator Claude Von Stroke has discovered some of the worlds most influential producers such as Catz nâ€™ Dogz, Julio Bashmore, Riva Starr, J.Phlip, Kill Frenzy, and many more.

To conclude the magical experience that is Miami Music Week, Dirtybird is bringing you three back-to-back sets from the labels veterans. This will include; Ardalan back-to-back Christian Martin, Shiba San back-to-back J.Phlip and a very special back-to-back set from the original dirty birds Claude Von Stroke and Justin Martin. The vibe and energy will be running high and wild as these six artists deliver their best at Steam Miami.
