For a woman to allow herself to surrender to being pleased by a man (or a woman), to lay down and spread her legs without concern of what she smells like, if she’ll have an orgasm, if she’s taking too long, if the man is happy or any thought that takes her away from the present moment, is where magic happens.

We’re facilitating a class in Fort Lauderdale in a beautiful, private suite at The Atlantic Hotel & Spa where we’re teaching women how to surrender to receiving pleasure (along with other things) from men, and we’re teaching men how to pay acute attention to and please women.

Got Mambo? You will be captivated by the rythm and beat…almost stepping back into a time capsule yet with refreshing energy that will keep you asking for more! Come to Cabaret South Beach May 15 and enjoy the hot Latin rhythms of Tito Puente, Jr. and His Latin Jazz Ensemble. Showtime is 8 PM.

The comparison is inevitable. How could it be otherwise? Tito Puente Jr. carries his father with him – imprinted on his physical being and locked in his soul. It’s in his looks, his joy, and his music. The younger Puente is determined to nurture the musical legacy left by his father. “He was just too vibrant, too exciting. There was magic in the music my father made. It made people happy all over the world.” He has found enthusiastic audiences who echo his passion. Crowds lured to a venue by the father are returning to see the son — and to once again participate in the high voltage celebration that takes place on stage.

His 2004 album, “In My Father’s Shoes” featured the classic Puente titles and was spun into a BET Jazz television special of the same name. His later CD, “Got Mambo?” takes a musical departure into some powerful new music he can truly call his own. Guest artists Bobby Cruz and Hansel & Raul help make this a coming of age project for Puente, Jr. and the album has received heavy praise from Tropical and Latin Jazz critics alike.

Expect an exciting evening of great music, and don’t forget your dancing shoes! Cabaret South Beach is located at 233 12th Street in Miami Beach. Tickets are $45 at brownpapertickets.com.

Meet the authors of the recently released “A History of Little Havana,” a book which focuses on the development of Little Havana as a Cuban enclave in the 1960s and its transformation into the diverse Latino neighborhood it is today. The book also delves into the political role of the neighborhood as a stage for protests and debates related to Cuba. Co-authors Dr. Guillermo Grenier and Corinna Moebius will read selections from the book and sign copies at CubaOcho Art & Research Center, which is mentioned in the book along with many other familiar landmarks. (Live music will take place later on in the evening, and the center has a full bar with a wide selection of drinks including many varieties of rum.)

Each chapter of the book focuses on a different decade, with vignettes on particular places (Cuban Memorial Park, Flagler Street, Orange Bowl, Tent City), traditions and events (baseball, cafecitos, Calle Ocho Festival, La Griteria, cigar manufacturing), arts (murals, hip-hop, dance) and people/ways of life (Central Americans, Afro-Cuban spiritual traditions, the mounted patrol, vianderos).

Copies of the book will be available for sale for $17 (cash or credit card, but cash is preferred because it will take less time).

ABOUT DR. GUILLERMO GRENIER: Grenier is professor of sociology and graduate program director in the department of Global and Sociocultural Studies at Florida International University. Born in Havana, Cuba, Dr. Grenier is one of the founders of the Miami School of social analysis and has authored or co-authored six books and dozens of articles on labor, migration, immigrant incorporation and Cuban-American ideological profiles, particularly in the Greater Miami area.

ABOUT CORINNA MOEBIUS: Moebius is a cultural anthropologist earning her PhD at Florida International University. Moebius lives in Little Havana and leads walking tours of the neighborhood (www.littlehavanatours.com). She is former director of Viernes Culturales / Cultural Fridays, the neighborhood’s monthly arts festival.

On July 25th, 2015, the city of Santiago de Cuba celebrates its 500th anniversary. Since its foundation, it occupies a privileged place in the island of Cuba because of its geography, its beauty, and the charm of its people. Santiago is a vintage city full of history and unique traditions. It is also the cradle of heroes, poets, writers, painters, musicians and entertainers from Heredia to Compay Segundo, from Desi Arnaz to Emilio Estefan.
This solo photo exhibition encompasses a collection of photographs taken from 2003 to 2014. Together they constitute the photographer’s intimate portrait of the city of his childhood and youth, emotionally rediscovered through his lens during his trips to Santiago de Cuba.

Dr. John Demartini, the noted educator, business consultant, author and founder of the Demartini Institute based in Houston, is no stranger to overcoming adversity. Like many members of today’s youth, he found himself in trouble academically and legally, with seeming no chance of bettering himself. Now a globally renowned inspirational speaker, Demartini, who was featured in the acclaimed book and video motivational series The Secret, is presenting his acclaimed program, “Activate Your Unique Genius”, on Wednesday, May 6 at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables in Miami. This talk is open to the public.

“Activate Your Unique Genius” is one of the several targeted presentations that Demartini has incorporated into the trademarked Demartini Method, a curriculum that focuses on empowering individuals and organizations as well as contributing to transforming both micro- and macro-social dynamics around the world. Demartini, considered one of the world’s leading authorities on human behavior and personal development, has conducted thousands of public talks based on these modules all over the globe.

“When I was 17 years old, I was introduced to a man who inspired me and told me that I could be a genius. I was a high school dropout and I didn’t even know at that time how to read, but his certainty in my ability made me believe that I could be intelligent,” Demartini said. “There are certain principles that can be applied to activate genius and there is no reason why you can’t activate that for yourself. In this talk, I will be showing you how to unlock amazing innovation and genius inside of you and how to handle great challenges.”

Demartini is the author of 40 books published in over 29 different languages. He has produced over 60 CDs and DVDs covering subjects such as development in relationships, wealth, education and business.

The Beauty and The Streets pop-up exhibit at the Shelborne Wyndham Grand Hotel (1801 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL) will showcase a rare and interactive view of NY Street Artist Nobody’s conversation about female sensuality, sexuality and beauty in the streets seen through the eyes of Nobody. The exclusive cocktail reception will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Signature drinks will be served by Toast Vodka. Street art has become a global culture and street artist Nobody continues to create poignant socio-political observations and commentaries on the people and events of contemporary society. Each of his creations is a spontaneous, yet cerebral mix of symbols, words, and figures used as devices to leave subtle clues for the viewer to interpret or reinterpret.

“I am the defiant thread in this great tapestry of life, who has decided to weave instead of being woven, and boldly proclaim myself an artist. My rebellious markers and aerosol cans do not need, nor seek your permission as I converse with generations yet unborn,” says Nobody. “To you I may be a nobody. Then undeterred and unaffected I say to you, ‘Nobody did it!’ as I leave my mark on the world.”

The artist also has a great love for children, and uses not only his art but also his heart, volunteering his time to Miami non-profits in hopes that children will see the beauty within themselves. On any given day, you will see him whizzing down the streets on his skateboard, on his way to conduct an art workshop for a community youth program.

TMNK says there is beauty in the streets, and he’s on a mission to make sure everyone sees and values this obscure beauty.

Moving Images: Archives To Audience

Unseen films, including South Florida and Caribbean-centric home movies and amateur film “arrangements,” will be screened in a new media exhibition space, The Screening Room on Thursday, April 23 at 7:00 and 8:00 PM in Miami’s Wynwood Art District. Selected from the collections of the Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives by artist and guest curator Barron Sherer, the films are 16mm preservation prints, each the end result of laborious and expensive photochemical restoration. Two reels of film will be projected in a diptych – two images running side by side. The silent films will be accompanied by artist David Brieske, who will spin mood and tone-appropriate and experimental musical accompaniment culled from his collection of esoteric LPs.

KCC Productions presents Jazz at MOCA featuring Vivian Sessoms

“A Powerhouse” (Quincy Jones)

Vivacious, vibrant, vigorous – all adjectives that describe the voice and performance of Vivian Sessoms. On Friday, April 24, you can experience this for yourself between 8 and 9:30 PM at North Miami’s Museum of Contemporary Art (“MOCA”) in a free performance of her special take on jazz and soul. Vivian, born and raised in Harlem, New York, was born with a love of music instilled in her as the daughter of two prominent musicians and niece of Nacy Wilson. Her mother was a former jingle and session singer, her father, a well-known flautist and percussionist who worked with James Brown and several other well-known musicians throughout his career.

Vivian began classically training her voice at the age of nine, and it wasn’t long before she was so well versed in her craft that she won a scholarship to the highly acclaimed Amas | Eubie Blake Repertory Company headed by the late Rosetta Lenoire. This was where she began training in theatre, dance and music, which eventually led her to a successful run in radio and television voiceovers. In fact, you’ve probably heard her, she was the soothing sound of a soprano in commercials that convinced you to purchase such products as Campbells Soup, Coke, Hershey’s and many more.

As a performer, Vivian has sung with many of the worlds most recognized artists: Stevie Wonder, Chris Botti, Cher, Christina Aguilera, Diddy, P!nk, Chaka Khan, Ke$ha, Rob Thomas, Patti Labelle, Patti Austin, Sinead O’Connor and numerous others. As a writer, Vivian has worked with just as many artists, including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Towa Tei, Lalah Hathaway, Amel Larrieux, Junior Vazquez and David Morales.

In 2007, Vivian and partner Chris Parks released their debut CD entitled “Sunny One Day,” to critical acclaim. Billboard magazine referred to Vivian’s voice as “clear and exquisite”, Uptown magazine called her voice “powerful”, and Urban Network magazine called Sunny One Day “an impressive debut so polished and effortless sounding, it’s as if it bonds to your DNA and defies you to stop playing it”.

Vivian is currently putting the finishing touches on a follow up cd, her first jazz effort, entitled “Heart,” due out this summer.

Backing Vivian will be a stellar trio of Martin Bejerano, piano, Eric England, bass & Rodolfo Zuniga, drums. MOCA is located at 770 NE 125th Street in North Miami. For more information visit mocanomi.org or call 305-893-6211.

American Social (AmSo), is known for their eclectic selection of craft beers and creative cocktails. On Tuesday, April 21st from 8 to 11 p.m., American Social Brickell is hosting a Funky Buddha tap takeover showcasing South Florida’s largest brewery.

Exclusive taps for the April 21st soiree include Last Snow, a liquid indulgence with flavors of coconut, coffee and white chocolate; More Moro Blood Orange IPA, an American varietal of blood orange with deep, crimson red flesh, a mellow citrus flavor, sticky malt body and long grapefruit hop finish; Fire In The Hole Raspberry Habanero Red Ale, a malty red ale that pops with pleasantly fruity undertones, whole raspberries and just enough habanero peppers to create a pleasant tingle; and Bonita Applebum, made with cinnamon, vanilla and apples with a cinnamon-vanilla aroma for a full, round and beautiful sip. Brewery representatives will be available to educate patrons on craft beers and their Oakland Park facility.

“Learning about beer is just as important as tasting it,” says American Social Partner Paul Greenberg. “Craft beer is a quickly growing segment in our industry and with more than 50 beers to choose from at American Social, we are pushing to educate our patrons on the brewing process and ingredients of the products we serve.”

American Social Brickell features an energetic atmosphere among the crisp downtown skyline, complete with live music, an award-winning menu and perfectly-placed HD-TVs for enjoyment from any seat, both inside and out. : Café Prima Pasta is celebrating their love for garlic with $4.19 specials on Sunday, April 19th in conjunction with National Garlic Day. The three “breath-taking,” garlic-infused appetizers priced at just $4.19 include the Bruschetta, flaky Italian bread topped with chopped vine ripened tomatoes, sweet basil and garlic (orig. $9.95); Calamaretti Fritti, crispy calamari fried in a mixture of authentic Italian bread crumbs and robust roasted garlic (orig. $12.95); and Spinach Sautee, tender baby spinach sautéed in zesty garlic served over hearty cannellini beans (orig. $9.95).

If the permeating smell of the restaurant’s garlic force-field isn’t enough to keep patrons safe from Dracula, repellent vampire cocktails are also available, which include the Baby Prima Martini, Dracula Red Bloody Mary, Vampire Vodka Surprise, and Chef Carlos’ favorite Pinot Noir all priced at $4.19 a glass.

Whether people love it or hate it, the health benefits of eating garlic are now universally hailed. A member of the onion family, garlic has been used throughout recorded history for both culinary and medicinal purposes such as lowering blood cholesterol levels and reducing the buildup of plaque in arteries. It has a characteristic pungent, spicy flavor that mellows and sweetens considerably with cooking.

“A little secret; 15 minutes before we open, I take a sizzling hot skillet of sautéed garlic out into the dining room and splash in some Italian white wine letting off an explosion of garlic goodness fill the air,” admits Gerry Cea, founder of his family’s business, Café Prima Pasta. “In addition to being part of our restaurant’s ambiance, the smell serves as a prelude to the handmade specialty pastas, fresh breads and desserts we prepare to order each day.”

Diego Meraviglia, Vice President and Director of Education of the North American Sommelier Association (NASA) and Gold-Pin Sommelier presents a new, 6 hour course that covers the vast majority of wines produced in the Piemonte region; their typicality, classification, history, characteristics and folklore, as well as notions of traditional food pairings and overview of the entire region itself. Tasting of the most representative wine appellations in Piemonte, alongside some hidden gems, is also included. The course is designed to please both the wine enthusiast and professional.

Although often compared to France’s Burgundy, Piemonte has seemed out of reach for many to grasp and remains shrouded in mystery. Meraviglia aims to “lift some of the fog” (so typical of this land) and provide a comprehensive understanding of the culture, food and, most importantly, the wine.

Some Background Information:

The Italian region of Piemonte is widely considered by the wine community as one of the most prominent, historical, unique and significant wine regions of the world, producing such prized wines as Barolo, Barbaresco, Moscato D’Asti, Gavi and Barbera D’Asti, to name a few. With a 3000+ year history rooted in its ancient Celtic heritage, surrounded by some of the most breathtaking mountains on the planet and with mystical towns as unreachable and untouchable as they are seductive, Piemonte continues to inspire and seduce both the wine world and the culinary world, maintaining its prime position as Italy’s number 1 wine region (right alongside Tuscany).

The course costs $270.00 with all included, and a $50.00 discount is offered to current NASA members. To register, visit: http://www.nasommelier.com/courses/italian-wine-specialist/#miami. For information, call 786.427.9187 or email miami@nasommelier.com

This 4 day course plus certification exam is produced by NASA and sponsored by Just Quality Importer Inc. (Miami Beach.)
