REBECCA BARBA
Born and raised in South Florida, Rebecca Barba is a first generation Cuban-American.
Since the tender age of 3, Rebecca showed signs of creativity. Throughout her early education, she excelled in her art courses, receiving accolades in both school and community-sponsored art competitions. Rebecca earned a Minor in Visual Arts from Florida International University in 1995.
In 2007, she was fortunate to meet and be inspired by visual artist, Pablo Contrisciani, he helped un-lock her expressionistic style. As an artist, her style has evolved through the years, mastering mediums such as: pencil, charcoals, watercolors, pastels and acrylics. Her most recent creations are interpretations of moments in the artist’s life expressed in passionate energized brush strokes of captivating hues. These are appropriately called, “Art of Life By Rebecca B.†A collection of paintings derived from the experiences in the artist’s life; life is what inspires her!

JESSICA LOREN
Jessica is a music fan who portrays her love of music and sound through her art. Her painting are a mixed media process of acrylic on canvas, incorporating metal , glass and other textural components.
Jessica was born and raised in New York and currently resides in South Florida. Her work has been shown in galleries throughout South Florida as well as at art shows and fairs in Florida and New York.
“Even before I was an artists I was a music fan. Music moves me, when I close my eyes I can feel the excitement that comes from the sound of the bass drum just as the performance is about to begin. It’s such a rush of emotions and it’s that feel, the way music transports me, that I hope my painting can express to other. I truly hope my paintings can bring others the kind of joy I find in music.” – Jessica Loren
GUEST EXHIBITOR – MIGUEL PAREDES
Miguel Paredes was born in New York in 1966. He is an artist and urban realist who combines the exhilarating sense of New York graffiti art with the skill and perceptiveness of a truly exceptional artist.
Growing up on 72nd Street in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Paredes exuded early signs of artistic ability and accepted an invitation to New York City’s prestigious Fiorello La Guardia High School of Music and Art – immortalized in the musical and movie Fame – in the early 1980s. His studies at Fiorello coincided with the explosion of street culture in the city. Paredes drew inspiration from notorious pop artists like Andy Warhol and Keith Haring and plunged headlong into the world of graffiti and pop art taking the name “Mist†as his moniker.
Another influential figure in Paredes’ artistic career is his mentor, Ronnie Cutrone. Cutrone was Andy Warhol’s immediate assistant at the Factory during the notorious pop artist’s most productive and prestigious years. To Paredes, his mentor’s paintings are the essence of pop: colorful, lively and highly accessible. Cutrone’s constant use of bright and fluorescent colors not only influenced Warhol’s return to such hues, but shaped Paredes’ color palette choices as well. Paredes’ piece “Ronnie is that you?

Release date will be September 2013.
Bob-Ombs will be $220 (national shipping included, international shipping please inquire).
The pink Bob-Omb (01 of 01) will be on sale at my “On The Grind” solo show (running from July through August) at the Kidrobot store in Miami.

The much-anticipated event will take place Thursday, July 25, 2013, 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., in the spacious main ballroom of the Loews Miami Beach Hotel. Born 1984 in New York City and Raised in Miami, H. Fig is emerging into the Art scene with his rediscovered passion for art.
Self taught artist, mostly drawing a sketching for himself or to gift a romantic interest, H. Fig started painting in 2012.
His influences growing up ,and still to this day, are street art and cartoons but has always had an appreciation for all art forms and mediums. His abstract approach to painting is done with bright colors on black backgrounds that allow the subject to matter to speak for itself.
Typically painting about human emotions and his spiritual beliefs, H. Fig paints using acrylics on canvas, wood panels and even mirrors.
Painting with his “soul and no formal training”, H.Fig’s abstract style of painting brings a unique voice to human emotion that stems from his life experience which he feels a wide audience can relate to.

First noticed in 1994 while doing manhole cover rubbings in the streets of Washington DC, Sloan’s exhibition history and gallery representation has grown exponentially in the past decade. First in Miami, through Damien B Contemporary Art Center (2005) and Art Miami (2006), then Paris (2008) and throughout New England from Burlington to Boston, Providence to Provincetown. In 2011, Sloan exhibited for the first time in Austin, Texas and returned to Paris for his second solo exhibition. In the last three years, with his wife Ursula, he has led more than a dozen 2D portrait and mural projects with a wide variety of grades and schools through short-term residencies and after-school/in-school programs, including Arts 4 Learning (2012-2013) and the Miami Children’s Museum (2012).
Sloan’s images and hand-drawn type have been used for signage, CD packaging, band backdrops, event flyers, t-shirts, print advertising, skate deck graphics, and, most recently, short-run editions of products incorporating his colorful creations. He has painted numerous large scale murals, both indoors and out, painted live at the Burton US Snowboard Championships, and has just completed a three painting commission for Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence.
Sloan is currently studying sculpture at O. Haligon Fine Art in Miami. His first works in 3D will be ready for Art Basel 2013.

for artists….BY ARTISTS Installation #70 will showcase the Mosaic Works of Carlos Alves & JC Carroll along with Swimwear Designer Fab Silberstein.
Here’s a little bit about the artists….
Carlos Alves
Alves kick-started his post-college career with a free flowing tile installation located on the floor and walls of the Art Center South Florida. The project eventually led to commissions by a number of public and private clients in the US, and from London, to Hong Kong.
Alves is now applying his artistry to large public and private artwork projects throughout the US and abroad. Located at The Palm Beach Court House, stands a 16’ Pineapple Sculpture on the Court House lawn as well as 6 tile murals and 10 benches depicting historical illustrations of Delray Beach. At the General Mitchell Airport Concourse “C†Floor, in Milwaukee Wisconsin there are 15 mosaic medallions from 3’to15’in diameter placed throughout a 2000 sq. foot terrazzo floor designed by Carlos. An entry floor at Fire Station #21 in Los Angeles California, and recently completed a Public Art Project at the Video Visitation Center and Palm Beach Sheriffs Office in Palm Beach County, and Verde Garden in Homestead, Fl.
Alves also enjoys projects with children and has accomplished many public artworks working with them. He feels that if his art works for kids then it really works. Impending is: The Dade County Children’s Courthouse. This project involves working with elementary school children to create the tiles. Carlos believes that creating public art requires striking a balance between personal expression and working within the parameters of the project. In his mind the artist needs to create a piece that can be appreciated by a wide range of people.
JC Carroll
Lives and works with her partner/ husband Carlos Alves in Miami, Florida. She is considered one of the original pioneers of South Beaches’ gentrification in the late 1980’s where she opened ART-ACT Performance Gallery. Having studied theater/ set design and fine art at the Wolfson Campus, FIU & interned at Coconut Grove Playhouse and Bellas Artes she opened ART-ACT to provide a space to further explore the burgeoning art scene of the time. ART-ACT brought to Miami Beach new and exciting artists like Tomata Du Plenty, and group shows from NYC’s Rivington School, COLAB, Ringling School & more. The theater concentrated on plays of great significance at the time, many based on Political/Civil/Gay rights and AIDS epidemic awareness holding countless fund raisers for the hopes of a cure. JC designed and created a majority of the set designs for these plays, and performed as well. The same values that went into the shows she produced goes into her visual art.
With the motto that everything and everyone was an art form JC produced / edited ART-ACT TV on WLRN Cable Tap. A 30 min. weekly show highlighting the art scene, local and international, as well as many countless colorful personalities. Upon returning to Miami she produced & edited “Live Wire†the off spring of Andrew Delaplaines’ Wire Magazine.
Fab Silberstein
A graduate of Miami International University of Art and Design . Fab Silberstein is on the rise to become one of the top swimwear designers of the near future. Her company La Belle Rebelle puts style in style as her Avant Garde spirit is showcased.

[ev-uh-loo-shuh] 2 a product of such development; something evolved:
The word EVOLUTION best describes the time frame from December 4, 2011 to Thursday, July 11, 2013 regarding the program “for artists BY ARTISTS.” On December 4, 2011 at Haven lounge is when the program came to life, and since that time has featured over 75 artists (Painters, Photographers, Sculptors, Designers..etc.) in a weekly (SUNDAY) Digital Exhibition. On Thursday, July 11, 2013 at South Beach Marriott there will be another stage of development……”for artists BY ARTISTS ~ LIVE”, the monthly program, will be brought into existence featuring a simultaneous REAL TIME EXHIBITION by two of Miami’s hardest working artists. Cuban-American Visual Artist Rebecca Barba and the ingenious Photographer Fred Love will envision and then create their works on the OCEAN FRONT patio of the South Beach Marriott, a serene and intimate venue located South of Fifth.
Come enjoy a beautiful summer sunset evening of cocktails and LIVE ART with an ocean view and breeze. Hosted by Gary James Fitzsimmons and Sandra Garcia

INSTALLATION # 69
LAELANIE LARACH www.laelanielarach.com
Laelanie Larach Nieves, a self-taught artist who at 15 made her first masterpiece ( Mysterious Forrest),was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. As the years went by,she began changing her style of painting and opted to fuse two of her passions, photography with abstract painting and the surreal style.
Each of her works has a different concept, but she predominantly uses bright colors, several textures and other techniques. Her inspiration for her work comes from different sources. It may be the open spaces, a sea breeze, or a profund silent that carries different levels of consciousness with a limitless reality; all is tranferred onto a canvas and all in done for the love of art.

The Colombian Youth Philharmonic, a.k.a. Filarmónica Joven de Colombia (FJC), an orchestra composed of 106 of the most talented young classical musicians in all of Colombia and funded by the Bolivar Davivienda Foundation, is set to perform and film its first stateside concert in the internationally-renowned, Frank Gehry designed, New World Center in Miami Beach on July 26, 2013. The recording will be released on DVD.
Lead by the award-winning and masterful Alejandro Posada, who’s held principal and guest conductor roles in major orchestras throughout Europe and Latin America, the program will feature virtuoso Eduardo Rojas as piano soloist. The precocious Rojas was formerly the youngest dean in the history of Colombia to serve a music conservatory, and has collaborated with a host of internationally acclaimed orchestras and organizations. The music begins with a dress rehearsal where members of the media and select invitees will get a sneak peek of the show. The formal concert and VIP cocktail are to follow and will be attended by a who’s who of local and Colombian society. Students of Moving the Lives of Kids Community Mural join forces with the American Black Film Festival to feature their talented artistic creations
Miami, FL- Eight students from the Moving the Lives of Kids (MLK) Community Mural (sponsored by The Miami Foundation) have been invited to attend the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) for the Youth Filmmaker Program. The MLK Community Mural’s itinerary for Saturday June 22, 2013 includes: a tour of the festival, attendance of The Artist’s Vision panel discussion, lunch sponsored by Jackson Soul Food and attendance of the ABFF Awards Presentation. The children will also be given the opportunity to participate in meet and greets with key ABFF influencers including festival producer Reggie Scott, the 2013 ABFF Ambassador and actor, Omari Hardwick and other celebrities attending the festival. The images that these students capture in their minds during this full-day experience will provide them with the inspiration to create a dynamic canvas mural on Sunday during the Films Over Miami Community Showcase on Sunday June 23rd, an initiative under Film Life, Inc. and the SEOPW-CRA. The Films Over Miami will feature the films of some of Miami’s emerging filmmakers. The children of MLK Community Mural will be demonstrating a live art presentation featured throughout the film showcase, with the final art work to debut at the red carpet premier of the Miami filmed, Playin’ For Love, directed by Robert Townsend. The premier will commence at the Colony Theater at 5:00 pm.

Edge Zones Projects

Edge Zones presents the second annual Miami Performance International Festival from June 1– 30, 2013. M/P ‘13 is an exciting four-week program of performance art accompanied by video screenings, talks and workshops that culminate in an intense 4-day event. The festival is a tremendous opportunity for the public to come face-to-face with the breadth and depth of performance art and offers visceral and challenging performance works by renowned, mid-career and emerging artists from 19 countries, as well as more than 40 national and local artists. This annual event provides a look at the creative process across a range of media, and presents cross-disciplinary, collaborative work that speaks to the high level of innovation, critical thinking, and social engagement in Miami. Events are free but availability is limited.
In celebration of Miami-Dade’s diverse art scene, works will be showcased by over 35 international artists across the city in a range of sites, including: the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens and at Edge Zones Projects at the Miami Design District.
Miami Performance International Festival ‘13 is a much-needed networking platform for the art community and brings together the most important curators, artists and arts organizations from Latin America, the Caribbean and around the world.
Curated by Charo Oquet, Miami; Eliu Almonte, Dominican Republic; Pancho Lopez, Mexico, Miami will be immersed in the participation of 70 international and local artists. Unlike theater and dance, all MP ‘13 performances have no designated areas nor are they presented on a stage, but rather on the floor, dissolving the boundary between the artists and viewers.
Artists from the UK, Austria, USA, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Portugal, Mexico, Spain, Italy, Cuba, Panama, Canada, Colombia, France, Chile, Poland and Brazil. This dialogue will continue throughout the year on Internet platforms through the Edge Zones and Miami Performance International Festival web portal (http://www.edgezones.org) and online blogs.

Curated by Ombretta Agro’ Andruff, Unpredictable Patterns of Behavior presents 12 artists, architects and composers that relate to patterns in very unique and distinctive ways. Whether they extrapolate natural patterns and integrate them in their art-making processes, or play with geometrical patterns, or yet create their own patterns inspired by existing man-made landscapes or by invented systems, they all offer us the opportunity to go beyond the pure aesthetic enjoyment of the artworks featured in the galleries, and reflect upon the patterns that served as their inspirations. This exhibition is a sequel to Agro’ Andruff’s 2012 New York exhibition, “(Un) Folding Patterns.†The New York show focused on the relationship between mathematics and the visual arts. This sequel explores how creative minds interpret patterns across the artistic disciplines.

Artistic directors and choreographers Diego Salterini and Hannah Baumgarten will weave live dance throughout the Gertrude Silverstone Muss Gallery taking inspiration from the 1960’s reinactment of the ancient tale.

Each performance will run approximately 50 minutes. This special event is not to be missed!

The Betsy- South Beach, Miami Beach’s unofficial center for the literary arts has plenty planned for South Florida’s long hot summer; with an impressive roster of visiting authors kicking off the sultry season with Writers Room stays in June. As always, events are free and open to the public, although some require RSVP.
First up, humanities educator and writer Naima K. Wade, will be in residence from Wednesday, June 5 through Monday, June 10. Ms. Waide, who writes both poetry and prose, is scheduled to conduct a salon on Friday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m. in BLT Steak, the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant. She will talk about her global efforts in human relations and will read from her soon to be published books of poetry. A resident of Vermont, in the 1990’s Naima founded the ALANA Community Organization, a non-profit organization serving African, Latino, Asian and Native Americans. ALANA received recognition from President Bill Clinton as a Promising Best Practice for Racial Reconciliation: A new Pathway of Hope dedicated to building one America in the 21st Century. Naima has performed extensive re-enactments of Daisy Turner’s Life Story: The Journey’s End Program, which retells the tale of Daisy’s father Alexander Turner who was enslaved and fought in the Civil War. The program has been nominated for the National Park Service’s Underground Railroad Network To Freedom Program. Naima will read her own poetry and prose, and has just completed Elbow Dreams –The Story of a Black Girl Growing Up In Vermont During The Turbulent 1960s, as well as a novella, Missz’ Grace Lives Here.
Award-winning author Dan Wakefield will be in residence from June 14-18. A Public Salon is scheduled for Friday, June 14 at 5:00 pm, where Dan will discuss his books, films, and television series, with a special focus on his recent book Kurt Vonnegut Letters for which he selected the letters and wrote the introduction, based on his lifelong friendship with Vonnegut.
Dan Wakefield is novelist, journalist and screenwriter, whose best-selling novels "Starting Over" and "Going All The Way" were produced as feature films. His memoirs include "New York in the Fifties," which was the basis for a documentary film of the same name, and "Returning: A Spiritual Journey," which Bill Moyers called "one of the most important memoirs of the Spirit I have ever read." He has been the recipient of a Rockefeller Grant in Writing and a Nieman Fellowship in Journalism at Harvard University. He has taught in the writing programs of Emerson College in Boston, The Iowa Writers Workshop, and was Writer in Residence in the Writing Program of Florida International University from 1996-2007.

She has a particular passion for deserts and the nomadic way of life and has spent time among various tribes in Africa and Asia. Daphne was born and raised in Athens, Greece, and moved to the U.S. when she was in middle school. Memorial Weekend is here… almost!
Miami Beach locals leave South Beach for Urban Week… We face it ! How? By presenting designer swimwear line, Adoro by Maytee Martinez with camouflage cover-ups, war accessories and attitude.
Is this a typical fashion show? No it’s not.. it’s a concept show, with a different and fun theme for all. How? Models will be judged as they walk and how they walk and attitude is everything. This is NOT a pretty girl show with flowy dresses. This is a battle– a battle against the world with style and determination. Professional photographers will be capturing all the snapshots of the battle scene as it happens.
Is this a model competition? No, it’s also a styling competition. Watch local upcoming stylists battle Stephanie from Taste by Stephanie Guerra, the warrior. She is an established New York and South Florida stylist battling with the same bare campground rules provided to all parties. Each stylist will be given 2 hours, 3 models, camp fabric, nets, scissors and a staple gun. It is up to them to create down to the final countdown the wining look as they compete for the Memorial Weekend stylist award.
So is this a hotel fashion show? NO! Its an art expression show capturing the essence of the weekend, and come see a real show as we take the fashion show to a different level. Models WILL walk in the middle of the streets, where all the Urban street action takes place.
Is this all ? Please come join the “Party at Cha Cha Roster” as DJ’s start at 3 pm til sunrise and let the place light up with fashion wars, drinks and excitement.

Shaping Sound, the new, contemporary dance company forged by Emmy-nominated choreographer and “So You Think You Can Dance†superstar, Travis Wall, is bringing its first live national dance tour to Miami this summer with a two-day performance at the Colony Theater in South Beach, Wednesday, June 12th and Thursday, June 13th at 8PM. Travis will be joined by fellow dance industry visionaries, Nick Lazzarini (SYTYCD Season 1 Winner), Teddy Forance, and Kyle Robinson, as they lead a dynamic troupe of contemporary dancers through an explosive performance of movement, speed, physical strength, and pure passion. This is the first time a company has been created by and for contestants from the reality dance competition show.
This is the first time a company has been created by and for contestants from the reality dance competition show. The company includes LA’s finest dancers, who have also been featured on SYTYCD and “Dancing With The Stars†and performed with Adele, Florence & The Machine, Kelly Clarkson, Usher, Eminem, Drake, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Julianne Hough, Macy’s Stars of Dance, the Academy Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and more.
Today, every major TV network has a dance reality television show with a unique angle: from contestants competing weekly in front of a live audience, to behind-the-scenes looks at the lives of commercial dancers trying to make the cut, to “celebrities†paired with professionals fox-trotting their way across the stage.
The trend caught on after Fox premiered So You Think You Can Dance in July 2005 and the show reached huge viewership. Travis Wall is responsible for making dance an exciting and accessible art for both dance and non-dance audiences. For that reason, he founded Shaping Sound with his three best friends to create opportunities for contemporary dancers. The creation of Shaping Sound was chronicled on Oxygen’s hit show “All The Right Movesâ€.
Photographs from Aqua Girl 2013
Fourteen Years Strong… an amazing week… a great cause.
Aqua Girl® traces its beginnings to the year 1999. That year, Alison Burgos and NYC’s legendary women’s producer, Shescape, gathered a committee of like-minded women from around South Florida to produce an exciting one-night event to benefit breast cancer. The event, Sweet Charity, was an extraordinary dance event bringing together over 800 women and raising over $15,000 for two local breast cancer organizations, Cancer Link and Gilda’s Club.
In 2000, Sweet Charity grew into an entire weekend of events and Aqua Girl® was born. The goal was to create a dynamic national fundraising weekend celebrating women and the issues that affect them. Women descended on Miami from all over the world and the first year of this spectacular weekend of events was a huge success.
We can’t believe how time flies. Now in its fourteenth fabulous year, Aqua Girl® continues to attract women from all corners of the country, the Americas and around the globe. The week continues to grow with an ever-expanding variety of events that enhance its appeal and have created what is now one of the hottest women’s festivals in the country.
At Aqua Girl® there is something for everyone. We have dance parties, live music, pool parties, a dine-out event, a VIP reception, celebrity meet-and-greets, and so much more. Having so much fun never did so much good.
As the largest charity women’s week in the country, your participation in Aqua Girl® contributes to a very good cause. In fact, 100% of the proceeds from Aqua Girl® benefit the Aqua Foundation for Women, a not-for-profit foundation whose primary mission is to serve as the funding catalyst for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender wellness and equality in South Florida through grants, scholarships, and initiatives.
Monies raised during the Foundation’s signature week, as well as through individual and corporate donations, go directly to educate, empower and foster the lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women’s communities throughout South Florida.
Over the past eight years the AFW has giving out over $400,000 in grants and scholarships while empowering hundreds of women to be engaged in our community.

The annual arrival of Nama Sakes in Japan is a widely-anticipated event, signaling the arrival of spring.  Nama sakes – young, unpasteurized and vibrant in flavor (nama meaning “young†in Japaneseâ€) – are fruity with grassy notes, boasting a pleasant sweetness.  Hence the association with the change of season and SUSHISAMBA Miami Beach is the premier destination in South Florida to taste these sakes, which are available for a very limited time.  Enjoyed alone or perfectly paired with the restaurant’s renowned blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine, Nama Sakes are an epicurean delight not to be missed. Below are the special Nama Sake Sommelier Selections available at SUSHISAMBA Miami Beach until June 15, 2013.
Masumi “Arabashiri†Junmai Ginjo Nama Genshu    720ml     75.00
Combines the punch of just pressed sake with the fruity taste and aroma of Ginjo sake. Bracingly fresh and clean with a resounding finish—practically exploding with flavors. Arabashiri pairs well with robust foods, even Brazilian.

Tedorigawa “Kinka†Nama Daiginjo                       720ml    75.00
Full, clean taste, with a nice balance of sweetness and acidity overlaying a delicate fruitiness.                                Like plum blossoms at winter’s end.

Dewazakura Dewasansan “Green Ridge:Primal Strength†Junmai Ginjo Nama Genshu  500ml    57.00
This nama, delivers a noticeable lift at first sip, followed by a pleasant tartness and a brisk finish.                                              Its lively taste stands up well to spicy foods.

Kikusui Funaguchi Nama Honjozo Genshu            200ml     15.00
Characterized by the fresh aroma of ripe fruit and a full-bodied, strikingly rich taste unique to this style of sake.                     Great served on the rocks.

Kikusui Funaguchi Aged Ginjo                                200ml     20.00
This Ginjo sake is packed as soon as it is brewed and aged at a low temperature for over a year,                                      allowing it to acquire a heavier mouth feel and rich character.

Seikyo Junmai Ginjo Nama       720ml    85.00                                                                                                    Bright and lively, this sake has notes of ripe watermelon, mango and citrus in the finish.                                                              It is well balanced with a rounded flavor and clean acidity.

Popular Shock Rocker South Florida’s own Marilyn Manson comes to the intimate Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre. Picture Me Broken opens the show.
Love him or hate him, the self-proclaimed "Antichrist Superstar" – Marilyn Manson — was indisputably among the most notorious and controversial entertainers ever. Starting out as Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids, they had become one of the most popular acts in the South Florida area. Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor came calling, offering both a contract with his Nothing Records label as well as the chance to open for NIN; Manson accepted both offers, and the group’s debut LP, Portrait of an American Family, appeared during the summer of 1994. The group’s notoriety began to soar and during an appearance in Salt Lake City, Manson ripped apart a copy of the Book of Mormon while on-stage. Celebrated by supporters as a crusader for free speech Manson was the latest in a long line of shock rockers, rising to the top of the charts on a platform of sex, drugs, and Satanism. His brand of metal struck a major chord with the youth market, and he became a mainstream anti-hero. Such attention pushed many of his songs — including "The Dope Show," "The Beautiful People," and a cover of the Eurythmics’ "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" — into the upper reaches of the modern rock charts.

Postmodern ironists cloaked behind a veil of buoyantly melodic and lushly romantic synth pop confections, Pet Shop Boys, vocalist Neil Tennant and  keyboardist Chris Lowe, established themselves among the most commercially and critically successful groups of their era with cheeky, smart, and utterly danceable music. Always remaining one step ahead of their contemporaries, the British duo navigated the constantly shifting landscape of modern dance-pop with rare grace and intelligence, moving easily from disco to house to techno with their own distinctive image remaining completely intact. Satiric and irreverent — yet somehow strangely affecting — they also transcended the seeming disposability of their craft, offering wry and thoughtful cultural commentary communicated by the Morse code of au courant synth washes and drum-machine rhythms. With hits like: "West End Girls," "It’s a Sin†"What Have I Done to Deserve This?" and "New York City Boy" they constantly rose to the top of the charts.  On July 16th they release their latest effort Electric.  Electric features nine tracks in total – eight brand new Pet Shop Boys’ songs plus a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Last to Die.† The result is as uncompromising a collection of dance anthems as Pet Shop Boys have ever made.
