Action-Packed, High-Flying Mexican Wrestling will be fighting in Miami on October 16th at Bank United Center. Come see the amazing “Lucha Libre” presented by Warrior Fight Federation (WFF). This is a Pro Wrestling event for the entire Family, get your tickets today at http://bit.ly/LuchaLibreEnMiami

In case you don’t know much about Lucha Libre, here are some specifics
“La Lucha Libre” is characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds, maneuvers and unparalleled acrobatic skills. It is similar in many ways to the form of wrestling that inspired it — American professional wrestling. Both forms are full of colorful characters and outlandish story lines, and the rules in both types are very flexible and loosely enforced. In fact, lucha libre translates to “free fighting.

The most obvious thing that sets lucha libre apart is that almost every major Mexican wrestling star wears a mask and doesn’t use his real name. “La mascara” plays an important part of the storyline, and can also provide some anonymity in a country enthralled by the sport of Mexican wrestling. Therefore its following, both in Mexico and other countries, has made it the most popular sport after soccer in a country of 100 million people, and an integral part of pop culture.

So you are invited to live the experience true Lucha Libre and see the finest and most daring spectacle. An event recommended by Mexicanos en Miami. Learn more about WFF at http://www.warriorfightfederation.com/

Alexander knows it is going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day when he wakes up with gum in his hair, and he is right. Things only get worse as the day goes on: his best friend bails on him, there’s no dessert in his lunch bag, there’s lima beans for dinner and kissing on TV! The only reasonable response is to move to Australia. Judith Viorst adapted her own award-winning children’s book into this marvelous musical that is wacky, wild, and wonderfully wise.

This masterwork by Krzysztof KieÅ›lowski is one of the 20th century’s greatest achievements in visual storytelling. Dekalog focuses on the residents of a housing complex in late-Communist Poland, whose lives become subtly intertwined as they face emotional dilemmas. Its ten hour-long films screen in pairs once during the course of a week and draw from the Ten Commandments for thematic inspiration and an overarching structure. Dekalog arrestingly explores the unknowable forces that shape our lives.

And if you look like the famed Brazilian model, Gisele Bundchen, now’s your time to win prizes!
JohnMartins will be the perfect place to watch and celebrate your favorite athletes. Guests will also be able to enjoy a selection of Brazilian cuisine and the hypnotic rhythm of a Brazilian dancer during the Olympic premiere party.
The evening festivities will begin just prior to NBC’s scheduled telecast of the event at the world-famous futbol (soccer) Maracaña Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Guests at JohnMartin’s will have the chance to order the national cocktail of Brazil, called las caipirinhas, which is made with cachaça, sugar, and lime. “We’re trying to get as close to Rio as possible, without having to buy a plane ticket. We anticipate it being a night of celebration and unity, as the world comes together in respect and honest competition,” said Martin Lynch, co-owner with John Clarke. “This event is a great opportunity to experience the hype of cheering for your country amongst a fun and friendly crowd.”
The 2016 Rio Olympics Opening Ceremony will be an artistic spectacle, including more than 6,000 volunteers, and will feature welcome remarks by dignitaries, the Parade of Nations, and the final leg of the torch relay before the Olympic cauldron is lit. The last torchbearer is a closely guarded secret during the months-long journey from Olympia, Greece to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It might even be soccer legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé, but it will remain a mystery until the show begins. This celebration of Brazilian culture and world nations can’t be missed.
JohnMartin’s has been continually recognized for its delicious cuisine and voted “Best Pub Food.” The restaurant has Trivia Night on Thursdays at 8 p.m. and Karaoke on Friday at 10 p.m. On Saturdays, guests can expect contemporary top 40 hits to rock to today’s popular Irish ballads and Sundays the restaurant serves brunch and hosts an Open Mic Night for aspiring singers at 8 p.m. JohnMartin’s is located at 253 Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. June 16 is an extraordinary day. On that day, 112 years ago in 1904, two fictional residents of Dublin, Ireland– Stephen Dedalus and Leopold Bloom– embarked on their epic converging journeys through the city. Their travels and adventures, both real and imagined, were memorialized in
James Joyce’s masterpiece, Ulysses, the world’s most highly acclaimed modern
novel. “Bloomsday,” named after Leopold Bloom himself, has become a tradition for Joyce enthusiasts all over the world and many international cities hold their own Bloomsday festivities. Miami-Dade County will join these cities in observing the Bloomsday 112th
Anniversary Celebration with a great event in Coral Gables on Thursday, June 16. The Celebration will begin at 6 p.m. at The Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables.
Admission to the Bloomsday Celebration is free and open to all. The South Florida Emerald Society, Inc. and the St. Patrick’s Day Committee, Inc. sponsor Bloomsday for your enjoyment.

Miami, FL.- Imago “Art in Action” is a new cultural space opening on April 6th in the heart of Coral Gables. More than just another gallery, Imago Art in Action create and introduce an all-in-one multipurpose concept of cultural space with a purpose of contributing to growth and human development through the promotion of visual and fine arts and literature and committed to making inspiring experiences out of artistic expressions.

Ever since Miami´s cultural life began booming, the city seems friendlier and more humane to this kind of initiatives. Made up by Marlene Lebrun, Juanita Antonorsi, Raúl Lira, Thais Marquina and Trina Oropeza; a group of Venezuelan entrepreneurs specialized in many areas of arts and culture with more than 30 years of experience, which they´ve used to set the basis of this new cultural proposal.

This all-in-one space, designed for the growth and amusement of each as a unique and social individual, offers children and adults the possibility of enjoying art and literature while channeling talents and gaining knowledge, making it a great contribution to the city.

The center includes two areas from the world of arts -Visual Arts and Hispanic-American literature- into four vital spaces for its functioning: The Gallery, The Library, The Workshops and The Designer-Objects Store.

Imago Art in Action will offer a permanent programming where the community will be able to enjoy visual arts exhibitions, a small library and lecture room, gallery talks, cinema forums, classes, a store and special events designed for guest of all ages.

“ON” the opening exhibition.

“ON” has been established as the first exhibition which Imago “Art in Action” will use to formally open its cultural center; Marisela Chivico, who is responsible for the text, said: “When a new space that is allocated to disseminate culture and to facilitate the merging of reflection and enjoyment of art emerges, a light and a flame are turned on; and so we thought it favorable to name our first project “ON”.

Chivico points out that “the showing is comprised of ten Venezuelan artists linked to speeches engraved in a diversity of interests, all related to contemporary art, with proposals that address and answer to current dynamics and aesthetics” Harry Abend, Pedro Terán, Nadia Benatar, Sigfredo Chacón, Vicente Antonorsi, Patricia Van Dalen, Isabel Cisneros, Javier León, Paulo Castro and Rafael Rangel will show the best of their small formats in an exhibit beginning April 6th through the end of July.

Sedano’s and the Great Milk American Drive invite the South Florida community to join the fight against hunger

What:
In support of The Great American Milk Drive, the first-ever nationwide program to deliver gallons of milk to hungry families, who need it most, Sedano’s invites local communities to join the fight against hunger by making a small donation at checkout and help Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks, deliver a nutrient-rich gallon of milk to a family in need (donations can be from $1, $3 or $5). Meeting the demand for milk has been a challenge for Feeding America due to the lack of donations. Milk is much harder to donate because it is perishable. Meanwhile, more than 48 million Americans – including 306,330 in Miami-Dade County – struggle with food insecurity. Sedano’s can help to provide gallons of milk directly to a local Feeding America food bank by accepting donations at checkout from December 2 through December 31.

Who:
Sedano’s will host a media event to promote the Great American Milk Drive’s donation campaign. Diahann Smith, Marketing Director Communications from Florida Dairy Farmers; and Pedro Mesa, Sedano’s Supervisor, will be available during the media event to discuss the details of their campaign and explain how it is now easier for Miami residents to lend a hand and contribute nutritious milk to food insecure families. The goal of the Great American Milk Drive campaign is to deliver milk to food banks across the country, and Miami residents can help meet that goal by contributing to their local drive and assisting local families.

Media:
If you are interested in attending, please contact María Rosa Collazo at mcollazo@república.net.
For more information, visit: fuetesconleche.com/leche-para-america.

Sixty-six million years ago, an object the size of New York City descended from space to crash into Earth, creating a devastating cataclysm that killed off the dinosaurs, along with two-thirds of the species on the planet. What triggered this impact? On Thursday, December 17, Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science invites science enthusiasts and curiosity seekers to find out at Science Up Close: Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs, featuring leading expert physicist Professor Lisa Randall, PhD of Harvard University. Taking place at Books & Books Coral Gables, Randall will give a brief presentation followed by a Q&A and casual discussions with fellow scientists, researchers and professional in particle physics and cosmology.

A member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Randall studies theoretical particle physics and cosmology at Harvard University. Her research connects theoretical insights to puzzles in our current understanding of the properties and interactions of matter. In her newest book, Dark Matter and the Dinosaurs: The Astounding Interconnectedness of the Universe, Randall tells the story of the history of our Earth, from the history of the cosmos to that of the galaxy, the Solar System, and even of life – and, of course, the story of the dinosaur extinction. Lisa Randall’s studies have made her among the most cited and influential theoretical physicists and she has received numerous awards and honors for her scientific endeavors. Randall was included in Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” of 2007 and was among Esquire magazine’s “75 Most Influential People of the 21st Century.”

“A delightful new holiday tradition” —Talkin’ Broadway

It’s now one year since his miraculous transformation, and good old Scrooge is back to his old ways, or so it seems. Ebenezer is now suing Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future for breaking and entering, kidnapping, slander, pain and suffering, attempted murder, and intentional infliction of emotional stress. It’s the “Trial of the Century” with hysterical courtroom antics. With this all-new, very smart and clever script, worthy of the Dickens original, playwright Mark Brown has created an entertaining, funny and uplifting new tradition for the holiday season.

Based on The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe from The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, this musical adaptation is fun for the whole family, featuring unforgettable songs and popular characters. The story begins with the land of Narnia frozen in a perpetual winter of darkness and despair, seemingly all under the dominion of the White Witch, Queen Jadis, including the intelligent talking animals once ruled by the great and majestic lion Aslan, King of Narnia. Though Aslan is often absent from the land (so that his very existence is doubted by some), he returns when the need for him is greatest, bringing with him an end to the long winter, and making an ultimate sacrifice of love, culminating in a battle between good and evil. Entering at a moment of high adventure in the story are four children, transported from our world through a magical wardrobe.

Baptist Children’s Hospital will present a Teddy Bear Casting Clinic on December 5 following the 2 p.m. performance

Photographs from The Coral Gables Food Wine and Spirits Festival by Mr Q 305

Hundreds of foodies, wine aficionados and just plain good times seekers braved the elements this past Saturday to enjoy The 6th Edition of the Coral Gables Food Wine & Spirits Festival. The downpour did not dampen the spirit (no pun intended) of festival patrons, who came prepared with umbrellas, ponchos or anything that could shelter them from the rain.

Once under the tents, the attendees were able to enjoy from a variety of more than three hundred different brands of libations; there was Rum, Wine, Tequila, Beer and even water, organized into five separate pavilions.

There were ten different food stations. Each station offered two to three different types of food. For example: Station #1 offered Japanese, Station #2 was Greek and so on.

On Sunday at The Lincoln Motor Company display, attendees took part in a unique test drive experience of its new line of vehicles, including the all-new Lincoln MKX. Participating guests received a luxury gift.

The MKX has one of the smoothest ride of any vehicle I have ever driven. You have to try it!

Kontempo Art invites you to the fine art solo exhibit by Philip Graff Shapiro: Perfection in Imperfection.

As Greek philosophers have stated: The paradox of perfection is that no matter how hard you try, you cannot have perfection, without imperfection. So if it is perfect, it must also be imperfect at the same time. It is this approach to perfection that we perceive in the abstract harmony that Philip masterfully showcase in his artwork.

Philip’s free flowing energy of moods and feelings, driven by his exuberant energy and lust for life, are displayed throughout his artwork. From his vivid color pallet to his remarkable techniques of applying paint, form part of a variety of different abstract works. Philip’s passion for painting and constantly striving to improve is what pushes him to make every piece as perfect as possible.

Kontempo continues with its tradition of promoting emerging artists who are quickly capturing the attention of contemporary art lovers.
