The Seventh Annual Gables Hispanic Cultural Festival offers activities for the entire family, including a main stage with acts from diverse countries, an art boulevard, a children’s play pavilion with bounce houses and face painters, consulates representing various countries, culinary artists and food vendors. We will also have a Bacardi lounge, a wine lounge, and a cigar lounge. The Miami Marlins and the Miami Dolphins will also have a special area with activities.

To complement the ultimate dining al fresco experience that has been provided each month by the participating restaurants, the fourth event of the Giralda Under the Stars series on February 5th celebrates love and romance with entertainment that includes a mime, caricaturist and string tunes by Mario Vuksanovic, and fun activities such as watching short romantic flicks under the stars and letting your significant other know why you love them through a community activation. Satisfy your taste buds and delight in a weekend of sweet treats at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden’s 10th Annual International Chocolate Festival. Discover a world of chocolate throughout 83 acres complete with artisan chocolatiers, interactive chocolate making displays, sweet samples, and delicious cooking demos.

After sampling delightful treats from dozens of lauded chocolatiers, learn how chocolate is produced from the seeds of the cacao plant (Theobroma cacao), an ancient crop from Central and South America. Take a ChocoWalk and stop by the interactive Living History of Cacao and Chocolate Tent to hear from horticulturists, scientists, and chefs about the rich and fascinating history of cacao, this year featuring the chocolate harvesting and production methods of Colombia. Be sure to visit the Rainforest and Tropical Fruit Pavilion to see how real cacao pods grow on trees.

The biggest film festival for South Florida’s children and families is back! Due to last year’s success the weekend-long Festival has been extended to six days of international cinema featuring a dozen films. The festival showcases a diverse range of films for ages 3 to adult not otherwise available to Miami audiences. o The opening night film from 2013 makes an appearance in this years film festival. Anina, a ten-year-old girl, is given the strangest punishment in the history of all punishments – a suspended detention. Watch how she handles the strange punishment.

• 12:00 p.m. – Film Screening: “Satellite Girl and Milk Cow” (South Korea, Ages 9+ )

o The wildly entertaining film, chronicles the adventure of boy turned cow and a girl who try to save the world from a horrible monster.

o In the poor rural communities of Cateura and Paraguay families survive by separating garbage for recycling. One garbage picker began making instruments out of trash for teens who couldn’t afford instruments and doing so has given the children the opportunity to play locally and globally.
